Subscribe to RSSCHARLESTON, S.C. – As Rick Santorum’s supporters celebrated his strong Iowa showing, they were also making preparations for a push through South Carolina that will begin even before the New Hampshire primary vote.

Santorum’s South Carolina fans, some of whom were gathered at his relatively well-appointed campaign headquarters to watch the caucus returns, will be able to see him in the Palmetto State on the afternoon of Sunday, Jan. 8th, when he stops in Greenville just two days before the New Hampshire vote.
His campaign also added another South Carolina staffer: political consultant Andrew Boucher, a former executive director of the New Hampshire Republican primary – a ramping-up of staff that suggests Santorum will seek to capitalize on his Iowa momentum here, a state that has picked every Republican presidential candidate since 1980.

Santorum’s supporters, about 15 of whom remained at the headquarters as the final votes trickled in, were ecstatic about his neck-and-neck finish with Mitt Romney – but some of them said they weren’t surprised he did so well.
“I knew this was going to happen,” Kathy Hughes, a retired teacher from Mt. Pleasant, said. “So many people were saying, ‘why are you supporting him? Santorum can’t win!’ But I knew.”
She added that the phones at Santorum’s headquarters here had been ringing non-stop over the past few days. The phone did buzz a few times into the wee hours of Wednesday morning; the last call, Hughes said, came from a voter in Peoria, Illinois who was trying to get in touch with one of Santorum’s early-state headquarters.
Joan Peters, a member of the Charleston Tea Party board from Moncks Corner, said she supported Santorum’s decision not to skip New Hampshire and come directly to South Carolina as Michele Bachmann is doing and Rick Perry was going to do before he announced he’d first return to Austin to reassess his campaign.
“He’s probably not going to win because Mitt Romney’s got New Hampshire pretty sewn up, but he’ll do well and then he’ll come down to South Carolina and the money’s going to start coming in,” Peters said. “People now realize what we’ve always realized, which is that he’s a credible candidate and he can win.”

Ok Mr. Teabagger, please explain to me, using facts (no Fixed Nooze or by-bull references) on how Obama ruined the economy. Also please indicate what exactly happened to the largest surplus in history under President Clinton, and how it was squandered. Further, explain what the "party of no" has done to aid in President Obama turning around the economy.
Randy-I'm no teabagger but our unemployment rate was 4.6% the month before Democrats took over both Houses of Congress (2007) and I blame Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi as much as I do Bush for the state of our economy when he left office. When he left, he gave everything to the Democrats but they have failed to fix anything and Obama has added as much to our debt in 3 years as Bush did in 8. You can slice it and dice it anyway you want but Obama has been a failure and you can't blame the Republicans forever.
What did you expect when America elected a less-than-one-term Freshman U.S. Senator who was never even qualified to hold that office, much less POTUS, never held a real job in the private sector, nor was ever a decision maker, nor an executive of ANY SORT, in the private or even public sector in his entire life?
B. Hussein Obama was a "Community Organizer" for goodness sakes, there are small business owners with more executive experience than that Leftist, Liberal, Socialist, Marxist, Left wing Kook Democrat waste of skin in the White House now.
Elections DO HAVE CONSEQUENCES and we are all paying 100X worse than when former President George W. Bush was in office, because the U.S. Economy, U.S. Joblessness and skyrocketing U.S. National Debt and skyrocketing U.S. Budget Deficit is higher than all of the other U.S. Presidents in American history...combined!!! This "Community Organizer" hasn't a da*ned clue what the h*ll he's doing and only knows how to pit one American versus another.
And go on lavish, separate-from-his-wife/children thus costing that much more, expensive U.S. Taxpayer-financed vacations and golf outings, when he's not busy standing up for and publically supporting the Ground Zero Islamic Mosque construction, calling Police Officers stupid. Hussein Obama called them "stupid" for arresting his Left wing Kooky Goon Buddy, Henry Louis Gates Jr.), or bowing way down to Saudi Arabian Sultans and Japanese Emperors.
Yeah, America really messed up electing someone who has no business being a County Dog Catcher, much less the Leader of the Free World. However, one good thing about American Presidential Elections is they come back every four years and on Nov. 6th, 2012, a great majority of the American electorate who love this country will vote out the worst mistake ever called President in American History. Guaranteed!! I can't wait!!
Santorum did well in Iowa precisely because he didn't really try. The more voters learn about him and his toxic point of view, the worse he will do. The same thing applied to Michelle Bachmann. She surged when she was an unknown and then fell away as people learned how hateful and ignorant she really was.
Thank goodness Santorum lacks the staying power, resources and message to get the republican nod. He is scary and if elected, would be a step backwards for America, a long step. Romney will get the nomination but he is such an arrogant putz who hasn't worked a day in his life and can't identify with the middle class. Face it white people, America will forever be a mixture of many ethnicities, thank goodness. And no matter how long you try to preserve a white majority, it will not last. The Hispanic population is growing rapidly and will wants its say in American politics. It's just a part of the evolution of this country. Don't be scared.

No. Perhaps you need to improve your reading comprehension. He said that individual states should be allowed to ban it (something that would never happen) and he said that he personally opposes it, but that he would NOT make it illegal even if he were in a position to do so.
By way of analogy, I personally despise pitbulls and the imbeciles who own them. I think cities and states should have the right to ban them within their borders. However, if I were governor, I doubt I would actually ban them. See the difference?

Oom - That may be how you feel but it again is not what Santorum is saying. He has been very specific of the fact on what actions he feels appropriate and you will not find anything in a direct quote from him that can support you conclusion that "He isn't going to...".

Do you know Mrs. Santorum personally, Justina? Apparently she wanted doctors to stop the birth of her baby (the one that died) and was disappointed that they didn't or couldn't. She is undoubtably a sincere Catholic and for all we know, she is the one who "coverted" her husband to his present POV on life issues. (Lots of Catholic men really don't care.) I find it both maddening and ignorant when women such as yourself have such blatent disrepect for other women who've committed the crime of disagreeing with the feminist party line. B. Hussein Obama also promised he would close down GITMO, which he never did and won't ever do.
He also promised that if the U.S. Economy didn't turn around in three years, from him taking office as POTUS, then his presidency would likely be a "one term deal." Hussein Obama's entire THREE YEARS OF FAILURE AS POTUS, nor let our great country forget on Nov. 6th, 2012. We also CANNOT ALLOW the Leftist, Liberal, Socialist, Marxist, Democrats to make the 2012 General Elections to be about the GOP Nominee, instead of B. Hussein Obama's Presidential Term of FAILURE while in office.
We have to continue to remind the American Electorate of the current state of the U.S. Economy and joblessness and remind the voters that Obama has been in office THREE YEARS and soon to be FOUR YEARS and nothing has improved during this term in the White House. We have to tell the American electorate any way that we can, that B. Hussein Obama hates this country and does not want it to rebound economically, succeed, nor be a leader in the world for freedom, democracy, capitalism, free markets and the private sector being stronger than the federal government where the people have all the power, instead of the feds whom are there to serve us.
We have to NOT ALLOW the Leftist, Liberal, Socialist, Marxist, Democrats to "change the subject" or try to distract the American electorate from focusing ON OBAMA's MISERABLE RECORD OF FAILURE WITH REGARDS TO THE U.S. ECONOMY AND JOBLESSNESS. We must force them to do what they already know themselves they cannot do and that's to DEFEND B. HUSSEIN OBAMA'S MISERABLE RECORD AS POTUS.
We also must not allow them to just "blame Bush" and then quickly change the subject to attack the GOP Nominee, the GOP party, Conservatism, Christianity, American Traditionalism, Our Philosophy on the "Truths of Life" and ANY prior administration's record. MAKE THEM DEFEND OBAMA'S RECORD AND B. HUSSEIN OBAMA'S RECORD ALONE.
They've even graded B. Hussein Obama themselves on this very thread when I asked them and the best grade they could give him was a "C" (a horrible grade from his own robot followers and one they knew they couldn't give any higher to, as they would look like the foolish, lying, robot followers that they are) and yet still posted their ridiculous beliefs that a "C" Graded POTUS is worth re-electing, even in a horrible U.S. Economy and skyrocketing U.S. Unemployment rate. This is much ado about nothing. If you look at an Iowa map that shows the voting by county, you see that all of Santorum's support was in the rural counties while Romney won the urban areas. This shows that Santorum is only popular among the far right fundamentalists, of which rural Iowa has many. There are many fewer jesus freaks in New Hampshire and Santorum, like Huckabee four years ago, will have little to cheer on primary night. I predict that Romney and Houseman will battle for first while Santorum will finish third or maybe fourth behind Paul. And he will be lucky to get more than ten percent of the vote.
