That just makes me feel old. I can remember all those moments. How young we all were then. (But on the bright side, I am one hot cougar, Grandma now!) LOL

@phine You are far from old. One of my five grandchildren is old enough to vote for the

first time this fall. She has been waiting since 2008, to vote for Obama.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane guys...

Ford ... Carter ... Reagan .... Bush 1 ... Clinton .... Bush 2 ...

Just think all those Presidents over the last 37 years .... and by this time next year, Obama will have run up the debt more than all of them combined.

Those were the days...

.... yea .... when we had a sane, responsible Presidents.

Fesity, yes, I'm heading to the caucus around 6:10. Registration is at 6:30 and it begins at 7 promptly. In the caucus, if you aren't there on time, you don't get in.

Thanks FR for the reminder. I remember these, I even remember the Nixon vs Kennedy debates. We had mock elections in junior high that year--Kennedy won.

Gerald Ford, the last decent national Republican politician, and the only one I ever voted for.

Amy - I did too, though I've voted for Republicans in the occasional local race and voted for John Heinz at least once for Senate. Of course it was a whole different party back then - Heinz would be considered a flaming liberal by today's GOP standards.

Sandy 1851937 - That's really cool about your grand-daughter. Hope she'll also consider getting involved with the campaign as a volunteer - realize school probably comes first, but my "team leader" in the 2008 campaign was just 18 himself and his 16-year-old brother was one of the best phone bankers we had. It's fun, it's educational, and it's a memory she'll never forget. Hope she's bringing lots of friends along with her!

I remember all of them. Politics was always big in my house. My dad took me to see JFK when I was about 5.

Unlike the recent past we have more extremists running this year than in the past. Usually there is one maybe two goofballs running but this time we have seen several of them. In the end, hopfully, sane heads will prevail and Obama won't have to face a loony toon. While I believe he will win I don't necessarily want it to be a cake walk for him either.

I loved Dukakis! I still remember a dream I had, that he actually won. Probably signalled the beginning of my commitment to the Democratic Party. He still inspires me - saw him on a local TV show, just recently. Good man, Dukakis.

Joe Scarborough was on with Matthews a few minutes ago. He mentioned the lack of yard signs this year. He's absolutely right. Here, I have seen a couple Ron Paul signs that have been there for months, in fact, I think they are probably recycled from 2008 but Morning Joe is right--where are the yard signs this year? There are none in my neighborhood or along the various streets I travel most. Other than the two Ron Paul signs, I've not seen any. In 2008, there were signs in nearly every yard. Interesting.

There is an enthusiasm gap, for sure, Jody. I'm not sure which is stronger---the Republicans' lack of enthusiasm for their own candidates or their hatred of President Obama.
