WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- With a sense of history on the biggest political day -- to date -- of the 2012 cycle, Texas Gov. Rick Perry today compared the GOP's quest to defeat President Barack Obama to one of the deadliest battles of the D-Day landings in Normandy in 1944.
"This election is about stopping a president of the United States and his administration that is abusing the Constitution of this country, that is putting America on a track to bankruptcy," Perry told a hotel ballroom packed with more than 200 volunteers.
"It is a powerful moment in Americans' history, and you are on the front lines," he added. "This is Concord. This is Omaha Beach. This is going up the hill realizing that the battle is worth winning."
Those supporters, who represent 32 states, descended on the Perry team's nerve center at the West Des Moines Sheraton after the Christmas holiday. About 500 of them will fan out to caucus sites today across the state to advocate for the Texas governor.
Introducing her husband, an emotional Anita Perry thanked supporters for their loyalty in a campaign most recently scarred by a Politico article rife with quotes from anonymous staff members who savaged their colleagues for the team's early disorganization.
While Perry has gained few endorsements since his famously devastating debate performance in Michigan back in November, several of his early backers have made the journey to frigid Iowa for the governor's final push.
South Carolina Rep. Mick Mulvaney, Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal are among the allies on hand.
And they remain loyal -- and on message.
"I will leave it to the pundits to look at polls and campaign staff," Jindal told NBC News. "To be honest with you, I didn't endorse Rick because of the polls. I didn't endorse Rick because of his campaign organization. I endorsed him because of his executive experience and his fiscal conservatism."

This clown doesn't have a clue ..that America doesn't trust or want him !
Rick... read our lips .....NO NEW TEXANS !
When will these un-presidential DRAMA QUEENS stop? First we have Newt comparing his failed campaign to Pearl Harbor. Next we get reality TV D-list endorsements for Santorum and Paul. Now we have Perry the Dolt idiot comparing his struggle to an epic WWII battle, in which thousands of Americans freely gave their lives to win.
Tell me Perry, how many lives have been lost in your epic failure to clinch the nomination. I dare say none, you coward.
What's next, comparing a campaign to 9/11?
RedDev, in addition to being completely disrespectful, I think they're stuck in the past. That said, I'm surprised they haven't tried that yet.
I thought we were to respect "The Greatest Generation", but instead we have his idiot talking about our election system as going into war? Why don't you put this pseudo-patriotic bastard on a front line and then asked him how he truly feel about this upcoming election cycle after having bombs/IED and guns blazing at him. I am so sick of Republicans using war references for their silly gains. A matter of fact, I am sick of politicians in general that uses others pain and true heroic sacrifices to pretend like they know what it is like to truly be a hero. The problem is that simple minded people will fall for this crap. Perry go away, Mitt kicked your ass, because you cannot speak properly.
Obama is further right than Clinton... he has proved more hawkish than Clinton. The republicans worked with Clinton... So why the war on Obama?
There is only one reason I can see clear that is behind this "war" to get Obama out of the White House... Racism.
What is so unbelievably bad about Obama? He wants everyone to have healthcare? In Bush W's inaugural he said "Government has great responsibilities for public safety and public health, for civil rights and common schools." And many presidents before him have worked for it.
No, I am not saying what Congress passed was a good solution... am I suprised by that? No... but this isn't a dictatorship, Congress makes the laws.
Taxes? I wish he would be more aggressive on that note... People like to talk about how wonderful life was in the 60's... check the marginal tax rate on the top earners in that period.
And perhaps a word from the founding times on that note...
"The impetus to form a new government to replace the Confederacy was born, majorly, from the fact that the Continental Congress had no power to levy taxes. There were, no doubt, other reasons that are easily demonstrated, but the one that reverberated with those who served through the Revolutionary War both in arms and in Congress was that of direct revenue. The situation near the end of the war echoes eerily today as the states engaged in a war that The Congress was in want of tax revenue to pay for and the debts incurred to do so, both foreign and domestic, threatened to destroy that which so much blood was spilled to gain."

I take offense at his comparing the blood bath of American patriotism that was Omaha Beach with any catered political event. He may as well go to Normandy and spit on some graves.
I'm glad we'll never see the front of this guy behind the presidential podium, and I'm embarrassed for you Texas. Really. After being lead by Sam Houston, you are reduced to this guy.
How the might have fallen.
bush runs America into the ground, Obama takes us from 700,000 jobs lost a month into 100,000 a month gained, adds the hidden costs of the war to the budget which makes it look a lot bigger a lot faster, then the republicans make a comparison of beating Obama to winning WW2. where were that when bush was destroying the country? sorry- getting rid of govt workers workers doesnt really fix anything (i took a $40,000 a year pay cut when i went from private industry to the govt). it makes no sense to try to run the govt like a business- it needs to be run like a family!!!
Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel. Plural in the case of the gop candidates. I've never seen such a pathetic bunch of losers.
The hits just keep on coming. Blam! Another shot, another bullet hole in his foot.
he doesn't have a clue? your joking right? OBOMBO is the one who has no clue!
oh he does that's the biggest problem and we're stuck with his socialist america!
Thank you.
If I were ever to run into Mr. Perry, out of respect for my father and my uncles, whom all served in the Normandy invasion, I would be Obligated to punch him right in his stupid face!
fuzzy,
When you are punching out Perry, would you please do the same to the many Bob's and Reality Check? I just cannot take them laughing and mocking my mother anymore. (And, had they paid attention, they would be doing the same about your dad and uncles)
The guy is turning into a loonie toon... Oops!
What a diptoid this guy is. As though President Obama is the only one responsible for our present system of government, of which he has been a part for 3 years! What happened to the other 200+ years of Republican and Democratic set up of our government. And if they didn't spout their hatred for government as much, maybe we could actually get something done. When all you care about doing is destroying what has worked for America, then we will have nothing should any of these idiots be elected, except for pushing their paid for by corporate agendas, while the people get crapped upon again. And talk about rights? The Republicans believe only the rich have rights. I bet they're not smooshing in Rupert Murdoch's bedroom to see if he is using contraception or making litters of children that will strain all of our resources, and even if he did, at least he could afford them. Servitude is all the Republicans want from the rest of us, just hand over the controls to them.
Phine, one of my uncles also died in Normandy. They REALLY don't want to go there with me. I don't think it's even slightly funny for them to joke about this or anyone elses personnel loss. That's not what REAL Americans do. I'm QUITE sure they would never say it to my face! Hide behind your keyboards boys!!
It may prove to be a health tip!
@CogitoErgo,
You F-n think these dog whistle words aren't racism you are kidding yourself. Any comparison to the most hideous events of are times is the same as calling President Obama the N word, plan an simple.
But how about this Rick dumbazz Perry: Your mama is worse then the attack on Pearl Harbor for having you, you coward broke back jacket wearing MeaT BaG.
CogitoErgo
There is only one reason I can see clear that is behind this "war" to get Obama out of the White House... Racism.
No i don't think so or they would have compared getting him out of the white house to Lincoln assassination.
Lincoln was the most hated president in our time.
But this goof to comparing the one of the bloodiest single day battles since the Civil war is stupid. that day June 6th 1944 almost 5000 men most not even 20 years old,did not get to go home after that battle, unlike tonight where some will continue and some will go home to LIVE another day.
Either this goof is gun crazy like George Bush and LBJ (nut jobs from Texas) or he is so desperate to use a day many WW2 vets never forgot and took the horrors to their graves.
that should not be compared to politics.
that fact he is from Texas should disqualified him from being president given what LBJ and Bush Junior cost us. 58k for LBJ and 5k for Bush.
President Obama and his $billion crusade to win re-election will be the bloodiest election season this country has ever seen. Don't doubt it.
Any of you lefties aware of the fact that President Obama is the one who wanted "American citizens" added to the list of people who could be detained under the new rules he just signed? And while signing pretended to not like the wording. He is a danger to our country, but Perry did use the wrong comparison.
JH,
How many Americans have been involved in promoting terrorist activities...Al Ameriki for one, recruited in our neighborhoods, and he was being watched by the FEDs during the Bush years. Lind and others have openly joined Al Qaida and have spoken out against the US.
Interestingly, Bush, being the big Warrior against Terrorism, dropped the ball against Bin Laden and others, to include Al Mariki. When it comes down to it, you can spew your rants against Obama, but he has accomplished far more during his administration than Bush did in theprevious 8 years, and he didn't need to start any additional wars to do it.
I am not a fan of Obama's policies, especially when it comes to the US Military. When nothing is being said about fixing Congress and limiting their benifits, but I have NO problems with what he has accomplished militarily.
We should never have gone into Iraq, plain and simple. We should never have lost sight of the goal in Afghanistan, intel and small team strikes would have made MUCH more sense than a protracted war there. We should have concentrated on what needed to be done, instead of diverting our efforts into a country that had NOTHING to do with world Terrorism.
JH-479998, you are an outright LIE. President Obama did not write the legislation that allows for the unlimited detention of American citizens suspected of aiding, planning, or assisting terrorists actions. In fact, dufus, he originally threatened to veto the legislation and signed it only after language was added that gave the PRESIDENT the final word in saying who would or would not be detained. Try reading something other than FOX NEWS or better yet, go and read the bill itself, its only 1844 pages long. http://www.rules.house.gov/Media/file/PDF_112_1/legislativetext/HR1540conf.pdf
Or you could try reading a complete article, albeit from a source I don't support, http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/31/obama-defense-bill_n_1177836.html
Last fact, the one you conveniently left out, the bill that this language was in was the National Defense Authorization Act. Now, you tell me why the Republican House stuck this language into a bill designed to fund the military, their families, and the defense of our nation except as a guarantee that it would get signed and if the President didn't sign it then the Republican could use his veto against him in the run up to the 2012 election.
See, that's the problem with you staunch right wing nut-jobs. You fail to report FACTS IN TOTALITY. Your type simply looks for the RED MEAT SOUND BYTE to regurgitate over, and over, and over again even though it belies the truth of the situation.
Only an uninformed or willfully ignorant person would CLAIM OBAMA wanted this wording in the legislation?
Yeah, us lefties are aware of the fact that President Obama signed the bill. The rest of your garbage is nothing more than more LIES from a segment of America who simply hates the President for no other reason than he belongs to that group of Americans people like yourselves term "OTHERS".
P.S. it took me less than 3 minutes to find both the legislation and the article on the Internet. You haters had better become better researchers during this campaign season otherwise people like myself are going to eat your lunch each and every time!
Solutions539,
I'm saying that I think racism is at the heart of these attacks on Obama.
While I think this election will be nasty, I don't know about it being the worse in our history.
"
The news media today crawls in sludge of partisan attacks and dirty laundry from which it seems impossible to rise. The current trend towards ruthless politicking well beyond reason has no doubt furthers the media’s descent. The stories include:
“The treasury secretary is an aristocratic tool of the rich, using his office to further the financial gain of his powerful friends at the expense of the common man …” “The former president traded sexual favors from the wife of the candidate to secure votes…” “The president, described as a “hideous hermaphroditical character, which has neither the force of a man, nor the gentleness and sensibility of a woman” plans to name himself king and groom his son as his heir…”"
And that is some of the light stuff... During the election of 1800 they wrote that Jefferson was a antheist and the soil would run red with blood if he was elected. Hamilton and Jefferson both gave direct financial support to newspaper editors to publish rubbish about the opposing party... it was awful just one term after the countries founding.
Recipe for disaster:
Combine one part 2012 end-of-the-world hysteria with two parts presidental election year hysteria.
All that said, this year is going to have more than a few interesting news stories.
Military man
You can spew your BS all you want also. Both parties in the US took us to Iraq. Iraq was a threat to the world, just ask many countries who joined in the sanctions through the UN. You libs have no memeory of the past, you just think that Bush rode into Washington DC and decided to go get Saddam. You forget that all we heard from the Clinton administration for the full 8 years was how dangerous Saddam and his WMD's were. I just don't understand the left and their complete memory loss of everything they hate when their side starts doing those things. Drones taking out Americans without a trial? Is that the way you want an American President to act? Only if he's democrat?
President Obama was the person who wanted the ability to detain Americans indefinitely, without cause, if he suspects them of terrorist activity. Presiodent Obama is the person who lies to us about not liking that wording in the bill he signed. He is being dishonest again. If an American citizen is suspected of being a terrorist then our government has to bring them to trial under the laws of our constitution. Our President is trying to avoid our constitution. The Americans that you claim have been involved in terrorism? Have they been captured and tried? YES
Ergo, Obama did implement universal health care which was a good deed.
But when it came to many other things like taxing the rich, or GE... or the freedom to choose for yourself. He showed his true colors.
Caving in sooo.... many times on taxing the rich while all in all acting like he was fighting for those who are less fortunate.
He also leaned toward the right on numerous other occassions and sometimes at the sacrifice of the poor and middle class.
I gave up on OBAMA when he turned his back on us this year.
He gained some respect back towards the end of November when he took a stand to fight for the tax break for the middle class of $190 as well as unemployment for the following two months.
On DECEMBER 31st, 2011
OBAMA Signed the DEFENSE BILL in Hawaii while on vacation.
This bill would eliminate a US CITIZEN'S right to due process so that if law enforcement labels them a terrorist they are able to keep them imprisoned forever.
In other words whether Obama uses it right or not he will leave the door open for other presidents like GEORGE BUSH to ABUSE THIS LAW TO THE FULLEST.I've now lost all hope for him and as a RENEGADE BLACK MAN,
Who has blamed white America as a young man in his twenties for many of our peoples woes, will vote for "THE REAL RON PAUL" come next election!!!!life and death are like being awake or sleep, you are either doing one or the other or in between waking up or going to sleep."
"Therefore as I continue to live one life after the other I will not walk afraid in making things right and fair."
Forget OBAMA....
HE IS A PUPPET.....
It's not about being black or white it is about integrity and doing the right thing when you know something is wrong.
OBAMA YOU HAVE FAILED US IN THAT AREA AND I'VE BEEN WATCHING.
Just a Bunch of Good Cop, Bad COP with the Republicans.....
"
for those who are taking advantage of others and doing wrong because it's your job or to get ahead.
I pray for understanding or doom and gloom if others lives are continued to be destroyed by your ignorance in proper ethics.
Perry is not a idiot, raciest or a loser; he is a ultra right religious conservative, who has turned off mainstream America; we are and always have been a middle of the road nation; Obama will lose to any middle of the road democrat or republican, Americans are a hardy, smart bunch, they will only put up with radicalism for so long.
Peel-Layer,
I wish I could say you are wrong, but I can't. The fact that he signed that defense bill actually is quite scary even considering items from our past like the Alien and Sedition acts signed by Adams.
But he has, for whatever reason, acted disingeniously. However, after learning about his upbringing, and his earlier work, I can't help but think (hope?) that if reelected he would reverse the historical norm and have a better second term.. when he doesn't have to worry about securing funding for re-election.
In my view... the financial crashes on Wall Street propelled his historical victory. However, around that time (I think) he gained the financial support of people on Wall Street... I think a great number of people thought "we need a democrat in there to whack Wall Street" and what we got was ... well, a moderate republican. Interestingly, Clinton had the same vein when it came to Wall Street...
I've said it so many times, but I'll say it again... We will get no where... no one we elect will do anything... we will not regain control of our government until we get major changes to the campaign finance laws.
We change the way campaigns get financed or we will never get change.

Bill- Your pathetic diatribe demonstrates why you went from private to goverment employment, most likely not of your own volition!
@ PELL, I recommend you go up to post #1.20 and click on the links to the article and the actual bill that are posted there.
As to President Obama being a puppet, what makes you think Ron Paul would be any different than the other men who become President of these United States?
Governing as President is about the art of compromise. You can, and probably will, disagree that this President has compromised more than his Republican predecessors but just as you and your fellow Ron Paul supporter CHOOSE to OVERLOOK his short-comings, we Obama supporters will accept this DULY ELECTED PRESIDENT'S inherent flaw of continually extending the olive branch of cooperation to members of an opposing party. Members who have aligned themselves with anti-governmental extremist, held the entire American economy hostage to their ultra-conservative agenda of eliminating government, and spewed nothing but hate by continually opposing the President even when he puts forth recommendations (since the President does not write legislation) and ideas that in previous years were championed by the very individuals that now vehemently oppose the ideas because they are coming from a Democrat President.
Ron Paul is no savior to America, especially those Americans who are non-White. While you may choose to ignore those things that have been written and published under his name, I for one don't. While you may choose to hold it against President Obama for his view of White People when he was in his twenty s, I for one do not. I doubt whether you are of any other race than White, which means you will never be able to experience what a person of color has to deal with every day in areas of this country. The closest thing a White person could identify with is the blind hatred that is espoused against Americans by people who live in countries that hate America, because it is America.
You want to talk about integrity and doing the right thing? How does the President portraying himself as some sort of "Renegade Black Man" help him or our Country in any way? That stereotype is already heaped against him irregardless of whether it is warranted or not. So, he should just "GO OFF" on his detractors, be they Democrat or Republican, and go it alone regardless of the consequences just because HE BELIEVES IT IS RIGHT? We just got rid of that kind of President, his name was George W. Bush.
Sorry, but Ron Paul doesn't pass the SNIFF test with me. Too many ultra isolationist, unfettered capitalism solutions, and a strict constructionist view of the Constitution for me. Somehow I don't think going back to the days when people like myself were considered 3/5ths human is in our country's best interest.
As for Rick Perry, I agree with #1.25.
Although Peel, I can't agree with you on Ron Paul. A few years ago I may have agreed with you, but something has happened to him. I can't subscribe to a "no government is best" policy, its just as radical, and therefore wrong as any of the other nonsense that's out there.
Reagan was wrong... the problem isn't government, its government that has been co-opted by corporate interests. Its not a conspiracy theory, its basic economics. Business makes an investment it expects return... a campaign contribution is an investment and return is expected in the form of "less government" meaning... "let us do what we want to make money no matter how many people are thrown out onto the street or sent to the morgue."
You have been spending WAY TOO MUCH time at Perry's "family vacation ranch", Saxon.
sayitain'tso
Well....it is. Herein lies the problem. You, and the other sycophants, listen to the lying words which come out of the Big O's mouth and take it as truth while his actions do the complete opposite.
From the article you cited:
Good for the ACLU. Obama would have gained a little respect from me if he would have vetoed the bill.
But this is par for course for the left. Proclaim themselves to be champions of the people; then turn around and bend them over the desk like Bill did Monica. That's right. I besmirched that other leftist "hero" who fancied himself savior of the working class. Then he turned around and signed NAFTA and pretended he had no choice.
JH,
Sorry but you are completely arse backwards.
From the Washington CNN offices-
"The House approved the bill on Dec. 14, and a 86-13 vote in the Senate the next day completed the necessary congressional action. At issue was the president's authority in deciding whether people detained in terrorism investigations would be held in military or civilian custody.Sen. John McCain of Arizona, the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said the legislation includes a "national security waiver" that allows the president to transfer a suspect from military to civilian custody if he chooses.
"I want to clarify that my administration will not authorize the indefinite military detention without trial of American citizens," Obama said in a statement Saturday. "Indeed, I believe that doing so would break with our most important traditions and values as a nation.""
In addition to the above issue, the bill contained authorization for further funding of the military. You know like paying the solders, medical care for them etc.etc.etc. which the Republicans were holding hostage to try to force the detainee issue.
Hey, most, if not all of you are lucky. I live in the godforsaken state that calls him governor (or, seeing that he's been the longest serving governor in the history of this state, Emperor). He's screwed up the education system, doesn't give two sh*ts about the wildlife (anybody remember the wildfires last year?), gave us a huge debt, and rants on and on about the jobs that he's created (note: they're all minimun wage jobs at McDonald's and Walmart) and praying to God for rain. Yes, God answered your call, idiot, and he said NO. He is the most pathetic politician I've ever seen.
TCON:
Given the fact that I have Rick "Bat Boy" Scott down here in Florida-YEAH, WE ARE HURTING DOWN HERE,- but, MAN, do you have it BAD in Texas!!!!!
FR sent.
Are you implying that Perry started the fires? Or that he didn't beg for assistance? Or that he did the opposite of a rain dance and caused the drought?
So........you may have a slim shot at the claim "he screwed up the education system". provided you attended school in Texas while he was governor. Hard to argue otherwise when you are such a blaring example.
Yeah, Sucker, and you just drowned.
Yes, that's helpful, suspend his campaign for a day and fly around in a helicopter like Bush did with Katrina. In a way, he DID start the fires by exploiting the states' resources during a year-long drought that turned Lake Travis into a puddle. Any religious person would pray for rain, but when you do it with 10,000 people and He turns around and gives you fire, you think that's a message from your God. And YES, he did be for assistance, but when those tens of thousands of gallons of water came to save Bastrop, he didn't use them. He didn't care about those people, because he couldn't remember wat he was supposed to do with the water. And right now, nobofy in this state gives a damn about his campaign. If they vote for a Texan, they want Paul, who has done less damage to this state than the man in charge of it.
GdVegas:
You owe me a new monitor, because that too damn funny!!!!!
Yeah, it is Omaha Beach, and we ARE fighting a battle. But unfortunately, my poor misinformed Rick, you have just been blown up by an artillery shell from the USS Texas.
And Mr. Perry, are you referring our president as a Nazi??? Or worse, Adolf Hitler himself?? I thought that it was the GOP (Germany) who are entrenched in their positions while Obama and the Democrats (the Allies) were trying to find peace before 2012 (World War II)??? I would love to punch Mr. Perry in the face, but after I kick Romney in the butt and badmouth Lady Bachmann. Oh, and I'd also like to give ole Newton a headbutt for his conservative crap. Goodbye, GOP. Oh, how we knew thee....
P.S. Go to hell, GOP. And say hi to America's former ally Saddam when you get there for me...
"Remember The Alamo!"
Perry is an ignoramus pure and simple But what do you expect from Texa$$ We already had a village idiot by the name of Bush (the worst President in American history) That fool all but destroyed the country we don't need another dumba$$ from Texa$$
It must really feel to Perry like he is one of the lifeless bodies but he is no hero.
Gov. Perry,
That is an insult to all the brave young men who died on D-Day.
Agreed...comparing the Iowa Caucus to Normandy? Can you get any more tin-earred than that?
His ignorance of history (and everything generally) and what it means......... Well, normally I can laugh it off, but this was appalling!
Awful sensitive about a mere reference to D day, arent we?
Speaking of historical comparisons, a whiny President Obama recently compared the criticism he has received from Republicans and other political opponents to the troubles faced by President Abraham Lincoln during the civil war.
Should Obama apologize to the 600,000 dead of the Civil war?
My mother's brother died in Normandy, Bob. Yes, I am sensitive. YOU need to apologize to her and me for your insensitivity
This has got to be painful for anyone who lost a loved one in that battle. Shame on you, Rick Perry.
Phine,
That still doesn't address Bob's comment regarding Obama. Should Obama then make an apology as well?
I give anything to stick both Rick Perry and Bob of many numbers in a room alone with my mother. I am sure they would be singing a different tune! Maybe even apologize and think before such comparisons. If nothing else, when the left the room they would be holding their heads on a platter!
JK,
Glad my mother's personal loss is nothing to you. Appreciate that. As for comparing criticisms to actually killing of people, get real. That is sheer stupidity on anyone suggesting it. Criticising a president is NOT to be compared to the deaths of young men.
He compared his criticism to the criticism of Lincoln during the the civil war, he did not compare it to the war itself Bob, big damn difference. You can't defend Tex Dufus on this one, you will look as ridiculous as him if you try. He is an ass to compare his campaign to Omaha beach, and you would be an asshat to defend him.
JK - How does Obama's comparison of criticisms between Presidents equate to Perry's comparison of his failed campaign to a WWII battle? They aren't close to being the same thing.
No.
Then I'm sure you find John Kerry utterly repulsive. right?
Surley, even a lib can see that Perry telling the "troops" ....
..... does not begin to compare to the Kerry insult of characterizing American service members with ....
Thanks for your understanding and support of the Swift Boat Veterans and what they stand for.
JK1963, phine can answer for herself. My view is there are great political similarities between then and now. During the Civil War this country was deeply divided politically, today this country is deeply divided politically. Then and now, that divide caused and causes great harm to our democracy. President Obama compared the "criticism" Lincoln faced to the criticism he faces today. Seems to me a fair comparison based on the deep divides then and now which drive the criticism. Big difference between comparing political criticism of two eras and comparing the Iowa Caucus to Omaha Beach--there's no similarities no matter how one tries to find some.
What is it with all you Bob's of many numbers? You all inbred fools, or what? You sicken me. Because I am a liberal, it is okay to mock the death of someone that was dear!!!! God forbid you or your kind ever hold any kind of power. You are beneath contempt! Probably get your jolly's off other people's pain - as long as they "Libs".
Excuse me, I need to go throw up now. Reading from you has turned my stomach.
Yet the country wasn't divided in January 2009. It was nothing more than a typical election with one side winning and one side being disappointed.
Three years later .... Obama is the most divisive President in Gallup history.
And who said "no red states, no blue states" .... that he would unite the country?
Well .... Obama has half right .... he certainly united more than half of it against him.
phiny,
Your sensitivity is purely ideological, no doubt. If Obama had said a similar thing you would have thought it was wonderful
My great great uncle died in battle in the Civil War. I dont get offended when someone mentions the Civil war.
My Father was at Omaha Beach, he survived, but was messed up physically and mentally for the rest of his life.
He never mentioned Rick Perry being there. Just goes to show you how delusional Perry and his wanna be followers are.
Bob, as I am sure you know, liberals don't mind if you have an opinion as long as it is the same as theirs. That being said, the great messianic totalitarian need apologise for nothing.
“hypocrisy: prejudice with a halo”
Wasn't divided? What country were you in?
No my sensitivity is purely PERSONAL, you dolt!!! I would be upset no matter who said it. However, you are so driven by hate to anyone who doesn't toe your line YOU are the ideologue here.
FYI, I had relatives in the Civil War. Including as a prisoner of war in Andersonville. I found nothing offensive by the President's remark because he wasn't comparing a battle of MEN (of which you are not a man), he was comparing political criticisms.
And for the record, I am a DAR, so my family has been around for all the wars - so don't play that game with me - you will lose.
I never mocked the death of your mother's brother anymore than you mocked the death of 58,000 Americans in Southeast Asia.
I proposed a contradiction to your liberal moral indignance.
You evidently aren't very good at handling that, huh?
Oh well, fall back on your typical liberal understanding of reality ..... go put on the "Sound of Music" and listen to "My Favorite Things" ....
Btw - Was the last part a "mock" ..... maybe a little bit.
Were were you bobs in 2009? Hiding with your head under a rocK? To hell it wasn't divided. Bush and his crew did their very best to make sure it was. The country has been divided since the moment the Idiot in chief decided to invade Iraq and all his idiot minions cheered it on. Kind of like you two boobs!
Of course I do see your point abaout the division that occurred in 2009. that was the exact time all the rednecks just about had their heads explode because the majority of the country put a black man in the White house. Was that when you two bobs went off the deepend as well>/ My money is on yes. The sooner you admit what we already know, the better chance you have of recovering from your disorder.
You know Reality Check and you many Bob's, my mother still cries when she talks about the telegram about her brother's death. Hope you guys are getting a big laugh about knowing that fact.
How about "mocking" that????
A bit far removed.
I find it in rather poor taste and incredibly conceited to compare a major WWII battle to his sorry-excuse for a presidential campaign. I mean, it's pretty damn ridiculous and insulting of the memory of those who fought and died in an actual battle. It's not like he's even a major contender. Delusions of grandeur to say the least.
Obam's comparison is not really similar - because he was comparing the partisan POLITICS of that period with the partisan politics of today. His comparison actually had the proper context albeit self-serving to a moderate degree. Perry's comparison was, well, just ridiculous and not vaguely accurate as a metaphor for his campaign - and BEYOND self-serving.
This may more aptly, any yet just as tastelessly on my part, be described as Perry's Iraq.
Without dishonoring our brave soldiers, I think I can say he will wear this dishonor around his neck like everyone in the Bush administration does. It will come back to haunt him, again and again. He may even have nightmares about this statement. Omaha Beach indeed.
Maybe he should visit the hunting grounds of Iowa on season wearing antlers. That would at least make him appreciate what that landing was really like for the American boys landing there.
What a bone-headed, out-of-touch, dishonorable comparison for him to make.
To Phony phiney:
June 7, 2011: "President Obama this year failed once again to commemorate D-Day, a missed opportunity to honor U.S. soldiers past and present while burnishing his political standing as a war leader. Obama did not issue even a written statement or proclamation on D-Day either this year or last."
Bob,
From the bottom of my heart, I wish for every bad thing that could happen to a person happens to you. You aren't even human. You are nothing but a being of hate. I am not fighting you about what or what this president did or did not do - at this point it personal between you & me. You laugh at my family's loss. A big frickin joke to you.
Enjoy your laugh. Karma. All bad is heading your way.
Bob - now that's just a pathetic double standard concocted by the Faux news. Seriously, could you be more intellectually dishonest, please?
In fact - Obama's commemoration of D-day is mirroring that of Bush... on significant anniversaries but not annually. He held a speech on the 65th anniversary at Normandy.
From the looks of it, most Presidents did not commemorate D-Day each and every year, but instead stuck to the significant anniversaries or when the date coincided with another important national anniversary.
What country was I in January 2009?
The country that had Obama's 1/22/09 Presidential Approval Index at 30 compared to today's -17 (that's minus 17)
..... where 65% of the country approved vs. 30% disapproved compared to 12/29/11's 40% approval vs. 45% disapproval.
You guys really aren't very good at this stuff.
Bob-180 - that's way out of context with what Shellie was referring too.... but go ahead and deflect, distract, and move them goalposts.
Your 'arguments' are vacant of any substance anyway... it's like whack a mole with you kids. One talking point gets rebutted, you ignore the rebuttle, and instead pop up some other BS talking point. It's cute, but really only serves to show your lack of depth.
Shuk,
Numbers are numbers, they relate exactly to the timeframe, there is no deflection, no distraction .... sorry it is over your head.
Get back when you get up to speed and have something other than childish ad hominem.
I keep Bob #### and others of his ilk on "ignore". There is no reason to allow anyone like him to creep into the conversation here which is not really conversation on his part, but ideology of the worst type. Hey Bob, I can only see your remarks when others are reprinting them. Thank god. You're really pretty slimey as a human being it seems. @Phine - just ignore him, he is not serious about anything but his hatred and none of us need more of that!
Did Perry issue a statement? If Obama did not write a statement in honor, he certainly did not dishonor them as Perry does by comparing their sacrifice to his pitiful campaign in the Iowa caucus. I'm telling you Bob you can't defend this kind of stupidity, and even if you were to find something comparable by Obama (which you have not) two wrongs don't make it right, and you are damned well smart enough to know that. It's a jerky statement by Tex Dufus, it is a ridiculous and shameful comparison, and if Obama or Reid made that statement you would be all over it, and I would not challenge you when did. This Rhinestone cowboy has some gall, no amount of PAC money can polish this turd, he can go home now and compare his campaign to the Alamo, that would be a more fair and honest comparison.
"Cute," I think it's disgusting and beyond repellant, just like Rick Perry, his hero. Afraid I never took enough interest in Mr. Perry to read up on whether he ever served in the armed services. My guess is he is like the famous draftdodger of all time, Dick Cheney. If he'd even remotely thought about what Omaha beach means to even those of us who weren't there but know about war and that it is about fighting and death, he wouldnt have said that. But then like most of his ilk, he probably never served anywhere that required him to do anything but suck somebody else's ass and make his dumb remarks. His iq is probably too low for him to be accepted in the Army, anyway. should have been strangled at birth, just like Bob of many numbers...
@Bob-1887910
Your misguided reference shows that, no matter what a republican says, that it is golden in your eyes. You sir, are what is lacking in the country today. That being a mind all your own without blindly following. This is not, and should never be, Football.
@Bob-1887910,
The problem BOB is, President Obama doesn't say silly Sh!t like that. And as far as the civil war, one side was fighting to Keep Slavery and the other side was fighting to Stop Slavery. Big F-n difference if you are African American, but with a name like Bob we know you are not black, while you make light of dog whistle words of racism.
That's fine. Your emotional confusion and incontinence is understandable ... you are a lib afterall.
Regardless, I am sorry for your family's loss.
I hope Obama is replaced in 2012 and hope you and your family prosper and are happy. I have no reason to wish you ill.
Sorry your emotions preclude your ability to see that.
You are wrong. Hate is an emotion. Liberals are the emotional beings.
I just want Obama stopped from further destruction of the country and replaced. I could not care less about him other than that.
Actually the only thing that matters is what this President has done and not done.
If you want to go after me personally ... you will lose.
I take nothing here at FR personally .... you do.
Regardless, if you want the personal stuff, I will defend myself and you will not like it.
Ask Feisty.
Again ... I never laughed or marginalized your family's loss.
Sorry you can't understand that.
bob-1805084
Yet the country wasn't divided in January 2009. It was nothing more than a typical election with one side winning and one side being disappointed.
Three years later .... Obama is the most divisive President in Gallup history.
Why Bob is he the Most divisive president, is it because no matter how the republicans acted like little Bitches who were on there monthly, he stood above all there we won't work with you, all the signs calling him hitler, all the racist jokes from the tea party. Yes call him divisive, SH9t call me divisive if that is what it takes to move past crying babies what can't get the corporate nipple to decide who is president, oha wait a minute they did that. and all that money from 2010 only bought you these goofs who on his(the president Of the united states) worse day would beat them all.
i can't wait till after the primaries when Obama shows everybody he is from strong stock, grandfather serves in Pattons 3rd army, uncle helped liberate beath camps, grandmother help build B-17s. hey perry what were your folks doing in WW2, i know they build a camp in texas with the word NI&&er on it,
Rick Perry:
No, Rick. This is bull$#!t.
Yes, Bob, he should. At least apologize to America.
Rick must have bumped his head pretty hard in the mirror when he was doing his Tebow impersonation. He thought he was in Mile High Stadium just a couple of weeks ago. Someone should get him a helmet.
NBC Bob..... the comparison the President made was a political reference to the general hammering Lincoln took from both sides of the political fence during the Civil War and was not a reference to the military or any battle in the Civil War or the Civil War itself.
But I do love reading your comments they make me laugh to think someone is so far out of touch with reality....in this modern world of enhanced communication, the internet, Kindel Books etc the Neanderthal are still amongst us.
Bobs, cut the @!$%#. You and your ilk are EXACTLY why America is tired of conservative crap. I apologize to phinephancy for your ignorance, and send her my condolences. My God, if this is the new Republican party than let them be destroyed. Why do you hate Obama??? Why do you hate a guy who has tried ever since he was elected to compromise??? Why do you call him divisive when he only bashes the opposing party like every other president has and only occasionally??? Why do you call him a failure when he helped balanced the economy with the stimulus, saved the auto industry, is adding jobs in America, and at least created an act to help regulate Wall Street. If it is harming small banks, then let us go over it and try to make it both flexible and concrete against those idiots on Wall Street (Dodd-Frank)??? Why do you call him a failure when he at least tried to fix healthcare??? I don't know much about Obamacare, and i hope that it will be beneficial for the country. Give it a chance; it kicks off in 2014. Why do you call Obama a Muslim when he has openly shown his Christian side?? And even if he is a Muslim (highly improbable, what is so bad??? If he lied, there may be the possibility that he hid his religion to please this Islamophobic nation (No, I am not a Muslim. I am a Christian horrified at the anti-Muslim sentiment in the so-called "land of the free"). Why is Obama uncompromising, when he offered to sacrifice the liberal cows that are entitlements in order to get a deal on the debt with the GOP??? Why do you call Obama un-American when he simply states that he believes that America has lost its way on promoting ourselves overseas (a fact: we have grown lazy in things like education while the rest of the world surges forward)??? I don't see how the GOP could hate Obama so much. I mean, he is way more moderate than people say he is, he is very compromising, and he is willing to come to the table. For a long while I have refused to believe that the GOP hate Obama because he is black, and I still doubt that. But I am looking into it more and more, and the ONLY other option I have to adopt is that they are still peeved off from 2008 and are so ashamed of backing GWB that they are determined to shift the focus from them to Obama. The GOP can kiss my ass. They are a bunch of right-wing intolerant bastards, and I will die a happy man if they are destroyed in 2012, as well as the Tea Party and the neocons. I hope Perry, Romney, Bachmann, Newt, and all those other GOP contenders rot in hell, for they are a bunch of tools for the right-wing machine. Goodbye, GOP. Hardly knew thee, hardly cared. Go to hell. Give my regards to your old friend Saddam Hussein (proof, Reagan backed Saddam against the Iranians and supplied him with weapons and aid during the Iran-Iraq war) when you get there...

Freshieee:
Well said!!!!!
I don't think anyone could've said it better.
I join my sword with yours.
Voted up, and FR most humbly sent.
Freshiee,
Your Obama cheerleading skills are bar none! It's too bad that they fall on deaf ears to the hard working people of this nation that has yet to see any improvement in the economy. I'm sure you will find a way to blame the Republicans...you always do. I would you think you would notice that the majority of people in this country hold a less than favorable view of the President...
BOB - you don't know what you're talking about.... take your toys and go play with the REPUBNUTS/TEAHEADS! lol
JK1963 There have been more jobs created in Obama's 3 years than in Bush's 8 years... the proof is in the pudding! SUCK IT UP! THE REPUBNUTS/TEAHEADS ARE THE BIGGEST LIARS EVER.... and how sorry are you? All you have to do is read! LOL
You talk alot Loren, but I see no facts...Obama has failed to deliver...so as someone once said..."SUCK IT UP!" And the only liars I see day to day are people like you that post just whatever thought comes to their puny mind. And as usual, you have absolutely no clue about me, so your basic retort is to call me a Republican...you have NO IDEA what political affliliation I am with but your lack of intelligence just triggers that usual low information response and label me a Republican/Tea Party member... Good going...keep up that high standard...
So what are you: a disgruntled Independent?? I can take that. I don't mind that you don't like Obama. I just don't like how other people paint him out as a Marxist traitor. Nor do I like how people said how he has done nothing good. I mean, sure he has some bumps. Actually, quite a few. He wasn't strong on Iran for the drone. He wasn't very strong on immigration. He took out a public option for Obama-care. He didn't reinstate Glass-Steagall. He's compromised so much with the damn GOP that it has scared some of his liberal allies. But can't you admit that he helped the economy. Look, the stimulus saved the auto industry. Had that gone down, I wouldn't even have known if we'd pull through. Not all companies make it out of bankruptcy intact. Some dissolve. Millions of jobs have been created. He offered a deal to lower the debt that kowtowed to a lot of what the GOP wanted. He's shown political maturity time and again (not always, but a lot of the time). He at least tried to fix healthcare and it will shave off some of our future deficits. He's also being harder on Iran without invading (something I wish to avoid, although I would like to kick Ahmadinejad's ass). This isn't the Reagan years, where we could just cut our way out (and I doubt that we should have; it made things worse). And Reagan didn't fix the problem, nor did Clinton. Both just put a band aid to temporarily fix the economy. Clinton was lucky enough to ride on a boom from the dot-com bubble, and at least he raised a surplus (not a true surplus, but it was enough to pay down public debt). Had Bush at least tried to balance the budget or at least revise the tax code to raise earnings he could have paid down a lot of our debt, or at least gotten us through the early 2000s recession. But no, he issued excessive tax cuts that increased our debt; he spent trillions of dollars on some godforsaken rock of land called Iraq for nothing but oil; AND he didn't do a damn thing about healthcare but add to the government costs with Medicare Part D, which is as close to "socialized medicine" as you can get in a capitalist society. Obama has not failed to deliver. In fact, he has done quite well, considering what he faced economically and his detractors in the GOP. I thought that at least in times of crisis Americans could get together and compromised for the good of our nation, and that we could at least focus on the issues. In the summer of 2011, that idea was dashed to pieces when the GOP couldn't even accept a balanced debt reduction package with entitlement reform and a revised tax code just because it was revenue-positive. I know Obama has played the partisan ticket: who hasn't (maybe George Washington)?? But at least he tried to compromise on a number of issues. And he HAS delivered: check the number of campaign promises kept and how the economy has balanced itself. Loren, I wouldn't go so far to call JK a Republican, but good for you. You pointed that there has been job growth in Obama's America; maybe not as much as in Bush's terms (unless you add in those lost in his term), but at least he has created jobs in the fragile labor market. And JK, I see no facts on your argument either. If I can admit that Obama ain't a perfect president and can be partisan at times, could you at least admit that he helped us out of the mess??? I am offering an olive branch to you and am waiting for your reply. I encourage you to play the part of a peaceful person, who will compromise and say what I have asked you to say. Do not play the part of King George III, who scoffed America with the Olive Branch Petition and lived to see this upstart of a nation kick the mighty British Empire's ass not once but TWICE. Personally, I'd say that Obama has played the part of the Patriots, while the GOP has played that of King George. Hopefully they will be defeated in 2012, or at least compromise with Obama to get the economy going. I will wait for your answer, but my only other request is for you to keep out any anti-Obama or other malicious comments towards ANYONE: not me, not Loren, not Obama or the Democrats, nor the GOP. Just a simple straightforward answer. That is all I ask: can you deliver????
AMERICA 2012
To his credit, at least Perry didn't reference Omaha Beach ... NEBRASKA (unlike his geographically-challenged opponent, Michelle Bachmann might've)!
You mean which of the 57 states it could be in like Obama would wondered about. At least Obama knows it could not be Hawaii, as that is in "Asia" per him.
The depths of ignorance in the comments never cease to amaze me.
First, we have the 57 state supposed gaffe, which is floating around, what, four years after President Obama confused states with primary contests. There are 57 primaries.
Second, Hawai'i technically is much more a part of Asia (really Oceana) than any other continent. The entirety of the island chain is on the Pacific Plate, not the North American plate. This is why Greenland, part of the EU, is actually part of America.
The depths of ignorance in the comments never cease to amaze me.

Kurt...is that all you've got? The President makes one gaff and you'll never stop bringing it up. Perry makes a gaff every time he opens his mouth!
Pathetic!
Laughable because that is the one gaffe the Right always points out as opposed to entire books that were devoted to Bush's words. The idea that this President is some unintelligent lout is beyond laughable. A reminder that the higher your education level the more likely you are to support him. and that will surely be even more evident in '12.
Nevermind that at the time Obama said this he was on a bender of campaign stops, had hardly slept and had spoken almost non-stop for hours. But if it makes you feel good keep bringing it up. Keep throwing rocks in your glass house.
You like many others HATE this President. We can't quite pinpoint why without knowing you but not to hard to make an educated guess either? Such hatred is irrational and if you are a person of faith, clearly immoral.
Ahh, Kurt, is that the best you can do?
Matt L, glad you said it twice--there are 57 primaries which is what Candidate Obama was referring to!
Obama is correct, there are 50 states and 7 territories of the United States that participate in the primaries. He is also correct that Hawaii is part of Asia according to geographic location. It’s sad to see an intelligent man criticized for his intelligence by stupid uneducated people. Rick Perry is a moron, just like Bush, Palin, Bachman, Cain, Trump.... Basically everyone the GOP has attempting to run against him falls in that category. Unless you’re millionaires, Obama is looking out for your interest. It’s a shame there are Americans who don’t see that the republican party is only interested in pushing their beliefs on everyone and worship the almighty dollar. Personally I would like to see the millionaires pay the same percentage of tax that I do. Further proof that having money gets you special treatment.
The biggest difference between the occasions that President Obama misspeaks and those running to grab the Republican nomination is he will admit his mistake while they will try to rewrite history, geography, political theory, and math. Even when their mistakes are pointed out by there own handlers.
Sooo, instead of fixing the implied issue that there are no institutions of power in place that can prevent the Executive Branch from "abusing" the Constitution, your answer is to get the alleged abuser out of the Executive Branch and simply vote someone in who will not "abuse" the Constitution, because they of course said they would not abuse the Constitution?
Norah O'Donnell said to Newt Gingrich this morning:
"You scolded Mitt Romney, his friends who are running this Super PAC that has funded that, and you said of Mitt Romney, 'Someone who will lie to you to get to be president will lie to you when they are president. I have to ask you, are you calling Mitt Romney a liar?"
"Yes," Gingrich replied.
"You're calling Mitt Romney a liar?"
"Well, you seem shocked by it!" said Gingrich. "This is a man whose staff created the PAC, his millionaire friends fund the PAC, he pretends he has nothing to do with the PAC - it's baloney. He's not telling the American people the truth.
"It's just like this pretense that he's a conservative. Here's a Massachusetts moderate who has tax-paid abortions in 'Romneycare,' puts Planned Parenthood in 'Romneycare,' raises hundreds of millions of dollars of taxes on businesses, appoints liberal judges to appease Democrats, and wants the rest of us to believe somehow he's magically a conservative.
"I just think he ought to be honest with the American people and try to win as the real Mitt Romney, not try to invent a poll-driven, consultant-guided version that goes around with talking points, and I think he ought to be candid. I don't think he's being candid and that will be a major issue. From here on out from the rest of this campaign, the country has to decide: Do you really want a Massachusetts moderate who won't level with you to run against Barack Obama who, frankly, will just tear him apart? He will not survive against the Obama machine."
Amy, thanks for posting the interview; I didn't see it. If this wasn't so serious, you would laugh. Gingrich calling Romney a liar, who knew? Gingrich upset about Super PACs when, if memory serves me, he thought Citizens United was just fine and dandy. Gingrich calls Romney a liar about funding abortions and funding Planned Parenthood when Newt knows that the funding of abortions is only when the life of the mother is threatened and that the Planned Parenthood funding is for preventive care and not abortions. Gingrich upset about those "liberal activist judges" while ignoring that our courts have been packed with "conservative activist judges" by GOP governors and presidents. Pot meet kettle, Mr. Gingrich.
this was the best part:
"But Mr. Speaker, what you're saying is 'Folks, Barack Obama is so bad that we'd be better off electing a bald-faced liar to the presidency, somebody that we would never know if he was telling the truth.' That is pretty strong stuff," said Schieffer.
"Well, I'll let you go and check his record, Bob. Look, you're a professional reporter. Did he support Reagan in the '80s or not? The answer is no. Did he vote as a Democrat for Paul Tsongas in '92 or not? The answer is, yes, he did. Did he say that he didn't want to go back to the Reagan-Bush years in '94? Yes, he did. Did he run to the left of Teddy Kennedy? Yes he did. Now, why is it politically incorrect to tell the truth?
"You're saying in the traditional Washington pattern it's better to be sweet and honest and have this face of saying, 'Oh, gee, we want to be nice to each other no matter what happens to the American people.' I think the American people deserve the truth. I think the next couple of debates are going to be very interesting. I am prepared to defend every single thing I've said to you this morning. And candidly, I wish Mitt would just, you know, level with the American people, be who he really is, and let's have a debate about a Massachusetts moderate versus a real conservative."

Amy,
Will be interesting to see if Newt has the gonads to back up his words in the next debate!
(Good job on the reporting, BTW)
Well, judging from Newt's comments--I'm guessing the upcoming NH debate will be no more nice, positive Gingrich but instead will provide us with a fighting Gingrich attacking Romney with everything he has! I think that debate will be worth watching.
We can hope, girls! I love to watch Republicans beating each other up!
I realize it's probably bad form to link to a rival network's website, but the transcript of today's interview with Gingrich was just too good not to share. Sorry, MSNBC.
Well, Norah DID used to work for NBC/MSNBC
Norah did used to work for MSNBC. Meaning she is a biased liberal reporter, yes, we know that.
Phine,
Norah O'Donnell gets my vote for reporter-of-the day.
Bob,
Do you play an dolt just on FR or are you always a dolt?
I always liked Norah when she was on MSNBC and remember her coverage when Tim Russert died. I expect he is proud of her today!
bob,
Regardless where she worked, the words came out of Newters mouth. And if you or anyone tries to quote those words you would be a liar. (paraphrasing Mr. Newter himself.)
I am really going to miss these guys and gal. The consolation however will be the zany new crop that will spring up in the near future. TThanks for all the laughs and thanks for all the fish.
Oh, geez, what is it with these characters? Gingrich compared his inability to get on the VA ballot to Pearl Harbor and now Perry compares the Iowa caucus to Omaha Beach. These yahoos are clueless; they show complete disrespect to those who lost their lives by comparing them to a political primary.
Oops, I think we stepped over each other to get the same message out. But it is worth repeating twice, thrice, and more!!
Their egos just astound me, Jody. It is all about them, all the time. I'm sure in Perry's mind this is as big as the battle for Omaha Beach. How sad is that?
RedDev, I noticed that when I went back to the top to read. Well, it was worth repeating!
SF, egos is a good choice. I'm not sure Perry really knows what Omaha Beach represents.
There's dumb.
There's scary dumb.
Now there's Tex@ss Dumb.
Everything is bigger in Texas even the A-holes, like Tex Dufus the Governor.
Now Obama must be asking which of the 57 states is Omaha Beach in? It could not be Hawaii, because per him, that is in Asia.
Time to bring out the other curt comments about teleprompters. How imaginative!
How many electoral territories in the US?
The answer: 57.
Don't pay any attention to Kurt. He thinks the 3 branches of government are the White House, the Congress and the Senate. LOL
My experience with curt commenters from Faux news are more likely to think the 3 branches are the republicans, democrats, and libertarians.
Obama is correct, there are 50 states and 7 territories of the United States that participate in the primaries. He is also correct that Hawaii is part of Asia according to geographic location. It’s sad to see an intelligent man criticized for his intelligence by stupid uneducated people.
So we're comparing fighting Obama to fighting Nazi Germany?
REALLY?
Omaha Beach? What incredible disrespect to the men who died at Omaha Beach to compare it to his cheesy political campaign. This guy is the biggest loser in the whole GOP presidential clown show!
Ike, I couldn't agree more. The arrogant bravado of Perry is stunning and his disrespect for all who have served in the military and especially those who participated in the Normandy landings is shameful.
His comment makes me wonder which branch of the military Mr. Perry served in.
Mr. Perry served in the Air Force but he is still dumb as a box of rocks!
I was shocked to find out this man had been in the Air Force AND flew a plane, too. I really think he has dementia and his wife needs to take a break from the mic.
Texas governor Rick Perry tried to sideline a state commissioner who opposed expanding the scope of a nuclear-waste landfill owned by one of the governor's biggest political donors, Reuters has learned.
Bobby Gregory, owner of a wildlife ranch and landfill company south of Austin, had opposed a plan to let 36 states send nuclear waste to a 1,338-acre site in Andrews County.
On the other side of the issue was billionaire Harold Simmons and his company Waste Control Specialists LLC, which stood to gain millions of dollars from accepting out-of-state shipments. Simmons had donated over $1 million to Perry's gubernatorial campaigns. http://tinyurl.com/3scjg7u
PERRY = #1 SLEAZE
And tomorrow they will find your body floating off shore. You never made it to the beach. Well, that's what you get when you say you want Texas to secede!
Another thinly-veiled comparison of Obama to Hitler or terrorism or America's enemies by the Republican party. Big surprise.
As my great uncle says,"These republicans are reminding me more and more of the Nazi's in the 30's in Germany!" My uncle was a survivor and I believe what he says as he saw it and I have the same feelings today about republicans today!
Just in from the Perry camp -
"This is, Black Friday at Wal-Mart" !!
Oh, so it's Obama that's abusing the Constitution? Care to back that up in any substantive way, Rick? These posturing candidates, and their ignoramus supporters, might have a shred of credibility if they'd voiced the slightest objection to BUSH running up deficits, bailing out the banks, engaging in abominable wars of choice, and shredding the Constitution in ways that have been specifically documented.
What an insult to all those who gave their lives on Omaha Beach!
Or who served in WWII...like President Obama's maternal grandfather and uncle!
Like people of Rick Perry's ilk know about things like Omaha Beach...he's aother tough talking Texan who is more hat than cattle as they say down that way...
Up north we say a real cowboy has the Bullsh!t on the outside of his boots.
How would you know Mr. USAF? You weren't there. My relatives were, though. Don't tread on their graves Perry to get a vote.
You are not on my good side when it comes to anything regarding my sons. It is far preferable to be.
Ask Elizabeth Dole.
"a president of the United States and his administration that is abusing the Constitution of this country"
Says who wants to get rid of the First Amendment.
This comfirms that Perry is an idiot.
This is beyond outrageous. Comparing a political election to Omaha Beach? My father was at Omaha Beach under fire. The only battle Perry is fighting is in his head. I can't believe he served in the military. I did and would never equate politics to a military battle.
at least he did serve and he's proud of america! unlike your anti-american 'change'
president who [an his hideous wife] are ashamed to be americans! and want to
change this country to the united socialist of america!
Ervin, you are a laugh riot. You dont know how funny you are. Make sure you make it back to the mental hospital by 5:30, thats when dinner is.
@Ervin
Anybody that would insult this or ANY Presidents wife is completely beneath contempt. You should be banned for being a classless low life.
Well, I served and I'm proud of our president and his lovely wife. Even if I don't agree with everything he does, I respect and honor the office as much now as I did when I served in the Air Force. I'm proud of our country for electing him, for taking a new direction. Even if he didn't deliver everything he wanted to (and no president does or CAN), I respect him and respect the office.
Nice post. Thank you.
Every time a POTUS, regardless of affiliation, takes a tough or controversial action, one might first consider that the POTUS has access to more information about the subject than any other person, and that disagree or agree, it may have been the right decision.
I agree with you Fawn...but, how could Obama accomplish much of anything with the idiots in Boehner's Bunch? They are the worst we have had in congress... shame they can't be impeached!
Jeeeze...perry you're even making me feel embarrassed for you ...it's just getting harder to watch this republican Cirque des fous without wincing and wanting to look away.......
Amunaka... don't look away. They deserve what they are getting... they (Repubnuts/Teaheads) have asked for it. They are so not Presidential material.... NOT ONE OF THEM! The GOP is a wreck and they proved it with the Presidential hopefuls.... a MOTLEY CREW for sure.
