The Washington Post: “With Republican voters in Iowa set to finally begin picking a nominee to challenge President Obama, GOP officials in Washington are quietly and methodically finishing what operatives are calling “the book” — 500 pages of Obama quotes and video links that will form the backbone of the party’s attack strategy against the president leading up to Election Day 2012.”
More: “The document, portions of which were reviewed by The Washington Post, lays out how GOP officials plan to use Obama’s words and voice as they build an argument for his defeat: that he made specific promises and entered office with lofty expectations and has failed to deliver on both.”

Good luck with that. President Obama has a beautiful voice and his words are inspiring. The more voters hear him, the more they want to re-elect the guy.
His words are disgusting. The harsh words of a communist ruler who has stupified the ignorant into following him blindly towards the fall.
Dude your choking on your own tea bag.
A communist ruler, huh? Gee, you must have stayed up all night to think of that one.
Thank you for your post Amy, you did make me laugh so hard I almost peed my pants! Oh, you libbies can make the day brighter with your humor.
Hmmmm....
[" ---- that he made specific promises and entered office with lofty expectations and has failed to deliver on both.”]
Yeah like those Job promises the GOP made - and failed to deliver on?
But they sure put foprth a lot of other constitutional rights destroying bills like SOPA and foolish non-sense bills, and anti-abortion legislation. And they even blocked some Job Bills...
I think the world knows who the bigger failures to deliver are - and biggest spend spend spend party is.
ROTFLMAO! Sounds like a plan to me! Obama will find that his words will indeed come back to haunt him as well as policies that haven't delivered on his "hope and change" rhetoric.
Nice to know that obamacare will increase the taxes of all workers whose employers pay for medical insurance, or that vouchers will be given to those who can't find affordable healthcare.
Let's see, obama even formed a debt reduction commitee and chartered private sector businesses to make recommendations for creating jobs. Just think, he has ignored them both untill he could ignore them no longer.
Remberasha - How many bills passed by the house have been tabled by the senate? Some of which would help create jobs.
Seems that the republican job creation plan was to create a political atmosphere that would provide clarity to what government would do.
Yep, obama and company has provided a lot of clarity there haven't they? Talk of increased taxes, rather than reform. A healthcare plan spread out over so many years and having such controversy that I am sure it gives them <business> clarity as well. Financial reform, good for the long term, but the capital bank requirements not so much in the short term.
Hey, Hillary tried to derail Prez Obama in real time, especially when she saw she was about to lose and McCain tried pathetically to do it and both lost. What makes them think that they'll do any better when all Prez Obama has to do is use Mitch McConnell's own words against him and that's just for starters.
Try all you want GOTBP, He WILL be re-elected to a second term ESPECIALLY if former Pres Idiot got re-elected after a disasterous first term. It's a done deal.
Because now the American people have put down the Kool-Aid and are no longer enamored with the man and his hope and change boloney. They have realized that "making history" maybe wasn't such a grand way to cast a vote.
You have been using the hand to much.
The way to beat Obama is to stay away from the smarmy catch phrases, and concentrate on the actual issues. Show your issues are not his and that you have a plan....
Since the consensus of opinion out in media land is that the president cannot win on his record, as an opposition candidate that is where you go...
Besides relying on the lesser of two evils basis of getting elected is over, GWB was the lesser of two evils twice, we won't make that mistake again...
That all you got Smitty? Truth hurts a bit doesn't it.
Hand
What is gonna' happen is Obama WILL be re-elected and then he will not have to worry about his own election any more (All 1st term POTUS waste way too much energy on thinking about their second term and do not lead as they could or should during the first term) ans you WILL see the "change" you so fear. Single payer health insurance, tax cuts for ONLY the middle-class and working class, supreme court appointees who are NOT moldy old white catholic men, defense spending cuts, etc.
The only election(s) Obama will have to distract himfrom Leading this country out of the GWB mess will be midterms to get more progessives in office. Boy, that has got your head exploding I'll bet.
Actually I just stopped laughing. Thanks.
Noisy - seems that obama had all those progressives in 2009/2010, what happened then? Sorry, just don't see the need to give obama and company another chance. If he had remained focused on the economy or not publicly blamed the opposition or wealthy at every turn I might give him the benefit of doubt.
For those who forgot and want to ask for proof even though it's everywhere in political field:
The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.
-Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, quoted in National Journal, November 4, 2010
It was never about the most important thing they SHOULD have wanted to achieve was working with this president to get us out of the mess Bush left us in, it is about regaining power at any cost, country be DAMNED.
This president has no intentions of getting us out of the mess. Just creating the groundwork for his much hoped for second term and leading us into the redistributionist and entitlement (and therefore dependence on GovCo) future his puppet masters have created for him.
Voters gave the Republican Party a second chance in 2010, to redeem themselves after two disastrous terms of George Bush, and what did they do with their opportunity? Fought to keep taxes low for the very rich, fought to reduce the benefits of firefighters, teachers and other public workers, and fought against getting everyone covered with health insurance. Oh, and engaging in three years of personal attacks on President Obama and his wife. No wonder Congress is at 9% approval and the three least popular governors are Teapublican.
No number one goes to Democrat Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii. You know, the one who certified the "certificate".
To all my liberal friends out there,
if you think that the election and movement that did it is dead you are badly mistaken, they were almost universally elected on the basis of stopping the liberal democrat agenda in it's tracks. That was their platform. Just because it was done under the republican label doesn't mean a thing, it could have easily been done under the democrat label.
They knew going into this it was going to take more than one election cycle to get it done. I've already heard media opinions on the Senate turning over in November and the House remaining republican but with a lesser majority. And, that isn't with any consideration of who is president, Obama or one of the republicans it doesn't matter.
The key point is that the people are not satisfied with the status quo, they want change and they want it NOW. One of the things that are going to hurt the president is his promise that he would bring the troops home as the first thing he does when he sits at the desk, it's also the first promise he broke.
There are many more to come...
The silent majority has awoken.... The ruling class is afraid....
Hand,
So you are a birther nutjob? THAT explains a lot!! You are CORRECT about the "much hoped for second term." Once that crap is taken care of (Obama gets re-elected after a wasteful and expensive campaign) he will stop the redistribution of wealth upwards in this country so we do not end up looking like an oligarchy like Mexico or Russia where 10 families control most of the wealth and the rest of us are serfs. Social Security is not an entitlement you nutjob. Universal healthcare is not either. Right now Tax deductions for jets and ski trips and yachts ARE entitlements. So Let's get rid of those entitlements NOW!!
Universal healthcare is not a right either. Spreading the wealth to those who won't get up and earn it like the evil rich did, is not a right. The tax cuts were across the board for all (thus the 47% who get back what they paid in and then some). The Robin Hood philosophy is BS and an insult to me and many other lower middle class citizens who worked to get to the level we are. The only thing stopping us from being in your imaginary 1% is the fact that we didn't need any mor than we could do for ourselves. No I am not a birther nut job but sure would like to see a little more "transparency" from the annointed one.
Next glass of Kool-Aid is on me. I don't need it.
turnabout - All standard political fare for an opposition party, Got a point?
Change the word "regaining" to "retaining" and you have obama and companies mantra.
YOUR OWN WORDS EGLIMAN.
...And this is exactly the reason President Obama is going to have a second term regardless of McConnell and company's on-going best efforts to the contrary.
You teabaggers need to inform Mitch, Norquist, Rove, Boehner, Cantor, and the rest of the wingnuts that they may have slowed down the President's agenda and caused a lot of trouble detrimental to America and U.S. citizens, but you HAVE NOT (AND WILL NOT!) achieve the goal of "insuring Obama is a one-term President"; In fact, all you have done is insure the OPPOSITE.
But, hey... keep shouting your half-truth talking points; we voters understand that that is all you have left to cling to at this point.
What is so frustrating about politics today is that the candidates prefer to simply trash the other party as opposed to saying exactly what they will do better and how they will do that. And what's worse is that this does not stop once they are elected. Even after being elected, our representatives treat governing as if it were a sporting event with two political teams where the entire goal is to make sure that the other team does not win by getting its way. This is not what democracy and governing is all about!
The U.S. was never designed or intended to have a two party system (in fact, our founding fathers were against political parties in general because of the problems they create). Instead, democracy is about representatives of various groups of people in distinct locations and with distinct issues coming together to reach a solution that is in the best interests of the country as a whole. However, that is not how our system works anymore due, in large part, to the excessive power that the Reps and Dems have created for themselves over the last century and the campaign finance system that both keeps these two parties in power and causes elected representatives to be beholden to and to focus only on the needs and desires of the party with which they affiliate and the few large organizational contributors to that party.
That is why we need systemic changes that cause our elected representatives to refocus their energies on the American citizens that they represent! I encourage everyone to check out the American Overhaul Act at www.americanoverhaulact.org, which proposes the very types of changes that are needed to fix these problems. The Act forcuses on six separate areas of concern: Congressional Term Limits, Federal Election Campaign Reform, Congressional Size Limits, Congressional Compensation Limits, Elimination of Party Favoritism, and Federal Budget-Deficit Reform. Check it out! And, if you agree with the proposals in the Act, share it with your frineds and family so that we may continue to gain the support that we will need to make our government officials take notice!
Every ballot I have ever voted on had more than one party for President an most Senatorial and Congressional seats.
The country is falling apart because the Baby Boomer generation would only vote for parties which promised more benefits (Social Security, Medicare, Pensions, etc) than the system could possibly provide without breaking. Now it is broken.
Our current senior citizens voted for ever bigger government in exchange for benefits that do not apply to those who must pay for them
You're right! Teabaggers should go back into their closets. Michelle Bauchman is funny to watch. I will miss her on the national stage.
Jem - It's all the fault of the baby boomers?? How droll that you think so....
All voters buy into what the politicians want us to think we want, regardless of age. What is important is where we go from here.
Its RON PAUL or U.S. Bankruptcy, More Wars and Many More Dead Solders and Marines.
A bit of common sense here. Of course the GOP is going to try and use the President's words and actions against him. The President will do the same. Hello! It's politics here. Sheesh, people.
But the sickening problem phin, is that they intend to use his words OUT OF CONTEXT and, thus, tell the American public lies. Romney started it months ago in his ads, and even defended such actions - there was a thread on her regarding that - ol' Mitt has taken the position that such conduct is okay. Well, if it is, please allow me to quote Bible passages to all the anti-American President teanuts and wingnuts:
The Bible clearly says,
"Then Judas went away and hanged himself." Mat 27:5
"Go ye and do likewise." Lk 10:37 NIV
Talk about taking words out of context, I would say that you Not as stupid... have chosen the wrong handle.
The facts are that an incumbent has a record of actions taken with given results and that the wannabes say that they can change. Remember the candidate who campaigned on a slogan of "hope and change" in 2008?

Romney's first TV ad hits Obama (and is out of context)
Whats the matter american-2...? Don't you remember THIS?
Has your convenient republican selective memory kicked in as your excuse for the ol' wingnut double standard you all use?
Your position regarding facts is fine... no problem. But RNC/GOP only wants and insists on "facts" from their opponets while THEY prefer dishonest spin, half-truths, talking points and history re-writes for themselves - yourselves(?)
No voter wants nor needs your right-wing double standards and sales pitches.
"hope and change" indeed... and he is NOT finished yet; just wait and see America in 2016 when his second term comes to a close! Since the tea party GOP has dumped in their mess kits, you can get ready for some GREAT Hope and Change after the 11/12 election gets rid of the obstructionists.
First of all The MEDIA, need to Get it in they Head, this morning we was watching Chris Jensing "SHOULD GIVE PRESIDENT OBAMA THE SAME RESPECT SHE GAVE THE GOVERNOR OF TIM OF IOWA, SHE ADRESS HIM AS GOVRNOR AND IN THE SAME WORD SHE DID HAVE THE RESPECT TO SAY PRESIDENT OBAMA, She called him BARACK OBAMA," When will a Black President be given the Respect due and his title as the President. They say the President have failed this Country that is a Big Lie this "Country and the People have Failed President Obama," everything he have done for this country, Most of the Media are Putting the Saddle on these Republicans the Same People who Push this Country off the Cliff and into the Ditch and who pulled it out?
We hear where GOP have 500 Pages, of President Obama, undoubtley we have over 500 Promises they made from day One the President took the Oval Office, The Republicans/TB'S Talked about and did every thing Possible to try and make President Obama a ONE TERM PRESIDENT, With so much hatred TOWARD PRESIDENT OBAMA, the Republicans have been Willing to Destroy this Country, LET BE FRANK ABOUT THE WHOLE ELECTION, THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE PRESIDENT ACCOMPLISHMENT, BECAUSE HAVE ACCOMPLISHMENT WHERE WOULD THIS COUNTRY BE IF IT WASN'T FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA. THIS ELECTION IS ABOUT RACIST WE KNOW IT AND THEY KNOW IT, THEY HAVE TRIED THE BIRTHER AND EVERYTHING THEY COULD THROW AT HIM.
If the People know like know the People better fight to keep President in the Seat, he the Best President we have had in History and done more for the People then any Republicans President who have left this Country in CRISIS. We See all these Hate MONGERS in IOWA, maybe these People should ask themselves where was these Republicans Candidates when the TORNADO, Almost destroyed that State, they have very short Memories, the Republicans fought to Keep from giving them help, the Same President these same People the same President who fought to get AID FOR FEMA to get help and stood by them are Demonizing him and lying that he haven't done anything for them, this remind us of a Starving animal you bring him home and feed him put MEAT on his BONE, WHAT do he do he turn around and Bite you. THE DISASTER is coming up again. As our Pastor said yesterday start the NEW YEAR out right, don't let the MEDIA TALK down Faith, or this Country, and don't let these PUNDITS talk down this Country Economy, things will be better, JUST KEEP THE FAITH, do something better, Stop Complainting and PRAISE GOD, PRAISE GOD even if you don't have but knowing there is a Brighter Days Ahead, PRAISE GOD AND GET OVER THE HATE, PRAISE GOD FOR FAITH, HOPE AND CHANGE KNOWING THAT WE HAVE TO BE PATIENCE. GOD SENT PRESIDENT OBAMA TO US. DON'T VOTE AGAINST YOUR INTEREST. OBAMA/BIDEN 2012. THIS GOES BEYOND THE 500 PAGES OF WHAT THE REPUBLICANS HAVE THE PEOPLE WHO CAUSED THIS CRISIS.
Rightous post Emma!
500 pages to tear a man down -- that is what the GOP spends their time on -- destruction!
Meanwhile Obama spends his time trying to make America better and stronger.
I hope they have the President forgetting what year it is. May 11, 2008 instead of May 11, 2011. Without his Teleprompter he can't even remember what day it is. As he said in one of his "Great" Campaign Speeches..."Words Matter" Yes his words and his deeds will matter this time around.
He could not run on his record before, and he is hoping to continue to not run on his record this time.
@Amy

The reason why the Dems lost the house is because the voters wanted to keep taxes low for all Americans, and wanted to Appeal the Health Care Act.. If the American People wanted Higher Taxes they would have kept the the Dems in the Majority.
Sometimes you Libs just don't use logic.
AA Repub
The polls do NOT back up your assertion that the voters "wanted to appeal the health care act.'
Nor do the polls back up your assertion that the voters "wanted to keep taxes low for all Americans." The majority of Americans did NOT want Obama to sign the extension of the Bush tax cuts for 2 years and for only 1 year of an unemployment insurance extension to boot. Lousy bargaining as I see it.
You sum up well why the Repubs have turned into the obstructionist party.
Just look at this in terms of the 1st term of any president is a waste of time and tax payer money as they are looking to re-election instead of governing. Once Obama is in for # 2 things will get going in a progressive way.
Can't wait!!
Don't hold your breath noisy.
We all know it is a given that the republicans will continue their daily unhonorable ways. Unhonorable people have and always will be predictable. Republicans are sooooooooo predictable. When you think of the republican history for the last three years, honestly, in modern times, NOTHING more unhonorable has walked american soil than you republicans. What a terrible legacy to leave our children.

turnabout - All standard political fare for an opposition party, Got a point?
Change the word "regaining" to "retaining" and you have obama and companies mantra.
You really don't see my point? Typical blinders on with conservs like you eh? I stated it plainly; it SHOULD have been about working with this president to get us out of this mess, NOT wasting time on trying to get rid of him before he has had a chance to try to get us out of this mess the Republicans left us when when Bush left. Clear enough this time?
Your last statement makes no sense seeing as how Pres. Obama doesn't have to "retain" anything. He is doing the work we sent him there to do unlike the Republicans who have done EVERYTHING they can to obstruct him at every turn due to their aforementioned "mantra".
If you call trying to keep President Obama from frittering away any more of your hard earned tax dollars being the party of “obstructionists”, then I’m sure that is a title they would gladly accept! How much further does he have to put us into debt before he realizes he can’t spend his way out of this mess? I will be voting for the party that truly intends to overhaul the tax system. A flat tax is the only way to be fair for all. The less you earn the less you pay, the more you earn the more you pay. How can you possibly get fairer than that?
