WEST DES MOINES, IOWA -- Undeterred by the cold or by a steady drizzle, some 600 Iowans came out this morning to hear Mitt Romney, along with his surrogate and enforcer, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, rally the troops before Tuesday's Iowa caucus begins the 2012 primary campaign in earnest.
Romney, as he has done all week in Iowa, set the stakes for 2012 high, telling the crowd the race was not about just changing occupants of the oval office, but also about "saving the soul of America."
No one wages that fight better than Christie, said Romney; the New Jersey governor returned the favor.
"As we always do every four years, America's watching Iowa and Iowa's gonna be, gonna be the folks who are gonna help to start this process to get us going to make sure that the Republican Party nominates the very best person to take on President Obama in November," Christie told the shivering crowd. "Now when you look at that stage in these debates, I think you've gotta come to the conclusion I've come to: there is no person better qualified by his experience and his character to take on Barack Obama and to lead the United States of America than Gov. Mitt Romney"
Christie also jokingly warned the crowd that there would be consequences if they did not support Romney at Tuesday's caucuses. Christie said that he would return to Iowa "Jersey Style," a statement with different, but equally terrifying meaning, to fans of "The Sopranos" and "Jersey Shore" alike.
And while Romney largely focused his message today on sweeping patriotic themes and his own "business guy" credentials, the pugnacious New Jersey governor made certain to dispense some harsh words for President Obama in his closing thought.
"President Barack Obama came out to Iowa three years ago and he talked to you about hope and change. Well let me tell you, after three years of Obama, we are hopeless and changeless and we need Mitt Romney to bring us back, to bring America back," Christie said.

Chris Christie is a fat, self absorbed, ignorant, belligerant, self indulgent, ego centric, moron. Given the chance I would love to see him back me down with his ugly mouth. His displays of abusing voters should have landed him in court. I would send him whinning back to his seat even if he holds the microphone and I just use my God given voice. We have a problem with bullies in this country and he is part of it, a big part.

America can't afford to have Mitt Romney in the highest office of the land. Mitt erased his trace when a governor of Massachusetts by destroying [what some believe criminal] activities and communications. And this guy, Christie, displays the gut to support a might-be criminal in running the highest office. May be this guy Christie is another Mitt-to-be at the end of his term as governor. Don't vote for one like Mitt who is impeachable. Vote smart. Don't vote criminals. God bless America.

Romney takes the high road? Yeah right, after his kid (Matt Romney) aligns himself with the birthers today in New Hampshire. Obama has made some huge policy mistakes along the way, but if Romney is the best the GOP has got, this is over before it gets started.
But to me obama has done more to save the soul of this country than anybody. The bushman did soooo many things that this country has never done before. Take 911, they guy had a jet fly into the pentagon. Never done before. Blew up the wtc - never done before. Liar romney.
Sure the rushbo & others will doubt ron paul and will tell you that the bushman did not blow up the wtc or fly a jet into the pentagon. How do you explain on 911 in the white house when the military guy says aircraft at 50, 30, 20, 10 miles. Order still stand? Gop - of course.

No Republican running for office or in office can wrap themselves in the American flag and call themselves patriotic. Why? Oran's Dictionary of the Law (1983) defines treason as "...[a]...citizen's actions to . . . overthrow, make war against, or seriously injure the [parent nation]." The Republicans have declared war on the presidency, in particular President Obama. They have done so openly. They have obstructed, undermined and deterred the welfare of the nation by holding the country and the president hostage to an ideology which is not of the U.S. Constitution. Boehner and the 87 Republican freshman including Huizenga of Michigan are traitors. They are treasonous in their actions. They have no right to declare themselves as for the people. They are for an ideology against the presidency, in particular, this president. The same is true for any politician who votes to allow corporations to run this country or blackmail this country or hold it hostage to their policy and greed. They should not be allowed to run for office but rather put on trial. Americans better wake up and smell what the Republicans like Gingrich, Romney, Bachman, Santorum are dishing out.

Christie is a complete jackass whose act will play poorly on the national stage. This pocket Mussolini has the thinnest skin I have ever seen on a politician. Telling experienced members of the media to shut up and bugger off will not be as easily accepted especially when what they are saying are veifiable facts. He will have a hard time playing the Palin I was ambushed card. Many will expect him to be marginally lucid and when he begins to bully teachers and government workers he will get a hell of a bigger push back. Christies economic policies have borne no fruit NJ is #37 in emloyment with the jobs created paying a little more than half of the jobs lost. The wealthiest citizens bear no further burden while the poor and middle class are told to pony up while he targets municipal workers and teachers as lazy thieves looking for handouts.
Spot on! I'm in NJ and he goes after Teachers and schools while his kids are in private schools. Then has the gall to take a State helicopter to his kids ball game, only paid for it when he was caught dead to rights by the press! Chris Christy is a fat slob, a heart attack waiting to happen. He is Dick Cheney lite. On the other hand he is pretty good at jamming the stick in the hornets nest when it comes to government unions and their Cadillac retirement plans paid for with taxpayer money.

Somebody will have to explain to me why NJ Gov. Christie---this file mouthed, angry, arrogant, human being-- is even being considered as a possible Presidential Candidate in the future, or why anyone cares what he thinks about 'Weird Willard" Mitt Romney? Does he want to be on the ballot for VP? There are people from New Jersey that I have talked to who are scratching their heads and asking the same thing.

Christie acts like a person who was pushed around on the playground and now that he has attained power wants to give back in kind. That makes him unfit to be a governor in my books.........he is a nasty guy and seems to get pleasure from acting like he is a wise guy........when in fact he is nothing more than a fat little chauvinist. All the GOP/TP have had their 15 minutes of fame and it is time to retire them....they have done nothing for our problems.
I don't know about being pushed around, he was probably a big strong fat kid who got teased and laughed at a lot because he was too fat to catch his tormenters. I went to school with a kid like that. This is what turned him into such a sarcastic, nasty man.
When you watch Slick Mitt in action what comes to mind is a very polished car salesman, an absolute manipulator. He has all the moves and all the answers. What is hard to understand is polling that shows 75% of Republicans prefer someone else. This guy is worth 380 million. He is the perfect candidate for the political party of the Rich Man's Butt Kissers. They don't even have to listen to boring speeches. They can just have him turn with his back to the audience, drop his pants, and smooch, smooch , smooch.
Ill take Mitt any day over the community do nothing Pres. He said hope and change. He didn't tell us NO HOPE and all we get is to hold change. At least Mitt knows how to make a real Job not like Obama and his fake green jobs blowing millions
