Jindal makes robo-call for Perry in SC

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- While Rick Perry makes an all-out sprint in Iowa, he’s keeping a hand in South Carolina by releasing a robo-call featuring Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, who is campaigning for Perry in the Hawkeye State.

In the call, acquired from sources within the Perry campaign, Jindal says Perry’s campaign is “finishing strong in Iowa,“ adding that Perry is a “consistent conservative who will completely overhaul Washington” and who “is not afraid to tell the truth about the danger our country is in.”

“South Carolina can make sure that we have a conservative nominee. I believe Rick Perry is the strong conservative we need,” Jindal continues on the 23-second robo call.

Jindal, a fellow southern governor with a high national profile, hit the trail with Perry in Iowa last week, at one point correcting the Texas governor about details in his tax plan.

Listen to the audio here. The full script of call:

Hi, this is Governor Bobby Jindal. I’ve been on the road with Rick Perry in Iowa where his campaign is finishing strong. Governor Perry is a consistent conservative who will completely overhaul Washington. Rick Perry is not afraid to tell the truth about the danger our country is in. South Carolina can make sure that we have a conservative nominee. I believe Rick Perry is the strong conservative we need. Paid for by Rick Perry.org, Inc.

I wonder if he sounds as exciting as his 2009 rebuttal of our President’s address to Congress.

Rick Perry is sewing the Republican Party of Virginia, claiming that precedents set in federal courts should override Virginia's laws.

Is this the same Rick Perry that is all about States’ rights?

Yes, Dennis, the very same. The guy who insists that abstinence only sex ed is effective, depite the fact that Texas continues to have one of the highest teen pregnancy rates. Speaking of education, he's in favor of teaching creationism in science classes. He changed his stance on illegals after drawing heat from the Tea Party Lunatic Fringe. And he's parading around with the clown sheriff from Arizona - you know, the guy who thought Iowa was the Buckeye state!

The fact that Louisiana continues to elect corrupt buffoons like Jindal, is the very reason Louisiana will always be a burden on the rest of this country.

I guess Governor Bobby didn't see the poll in the thread just before this one, where Perry is currently at 11%. In what parallel universe does being 5 points behind even Rick Santorum constitute "finishing strong"?

      ...yes...moving on...

That being said, as far as Santorum's butt being "clean", there is that lingering, nagging story of how Rick and his wife brought their stillborn son home for a macabre "photo op" with the family... I mean really...

Well, no need to run for the hills. Perry doesn't stand a chance, fortunately. And Perry will have to return to Texas, where he will have to confront us for his changes in ideologies in his desparate attempt to pander to the Tea Party Lunatic fringe.

Bobby made an awful lot of money when he replaced Kathleen Blanco, who did nothing when Katrina hit the coast. Bush had to force FEMA to get off their dead asses and go down there. We all know how many weeks that took. Between Bush, Blanco and Nagle, NO didn't have a chance.
Things haven't improved since I was there in 2007, in fact, I just read an article stating that the murder rate has gone through the roof. I guess the criminal element who transplanted to other cities after the disister have returned.

As a citizen of the state of Louisiana this really ticks me off. Bobby Jindal has spent the majority of his term in office traveling around the country campaigning. His campaign fund is astromonical, yet he insists that he is not interested in campaigning for elected office outside of the state of Louisiana. Bobby Jindal was shown on television yesterday standing next to Rick Perry in Iowa. Bobby Jindal has done nothing for our state except programs and cut education while he builds his campaign war chest. It would be interesting to know who is paying for his trips across the country to support Republican candidates. I sure hope it is not the state of Louisiana.

Before he started supporting Perry, I had a lot of respect for Jindal. He appeared to be a bright, honest and a good man. Maybe I thought too quickly. Jindal's support of Perry is an extremely smart political move for Louisiana. Clearly, Perry hasn't a chance, but Jindal will be remembered by Perry and Texas resources will be focused on Louisiana whenever Jindal needs them. Resources are not the kind out of state coffers, but 'ol boy links that can get things done. Problem is that the 'ol boys eventually need to get paid off for their ' kind gestures and good will' and that is where things started to wrong for Louisiana in the first place and why Louisiana is considered one of the most corrupt states in the US. Perry is not a very smart guy and that has been made pretty obvious; Jindal is.

I live in Louisiana now but I am not a native. I'm also an agnostic leaning towards atheistic liberal. I'm registered as a Democrat but in truth I'm a Utopian Socialist. Alas, we all know that never works like it is supposed to work so... Obviously I am everything that the average Southern Republican Christian abhors and I agree with practically nothing that they espouse. I don't live in New Orleans and I'm quite successfully self-employed which I add here lest you start screaming "project dwelling welfare mother" at me. I don't bother to vote in local/state elections because a) the choice is generally the devil or the witch and b) I don't plan to be here much longer and therefore, don't care. All that is prelude to this...I did respect Bobby Jindal who, although a horrible public speaker, I believed to be an intelligent and less than vile politician UNTIL he threw his lot in with that Texas prototype of cliched Southern idiocy. And I agree that it was done solely in service to the "good ole boy" network. I do wonder what it is that Louisiana/Jindal wants from Texas in payment. Whatever it is, it must be pretty valuable because I imagine that in private Jindal is nauseous at the very thought of Perry. At least I hope he is. If he's not, my radar is waaaay off. Which I'm sure someone here will point out to me post haste.

spikey, perhaps it's much simpler than that - it could just be a case of a sudden impulse to commit political suicide. Or maybe it's just a shot at getting some publicity, like the clueless clown sheriff from Arizona who has also become a toady for Perry. Not to worry though - Perry is a loser.

As it stands, the evengelicals are besides themselves in Iowa. This is not like 2008 - there are too many GOP candidates who have jumped on the Jesus bandwagon (How many claimed God told them to run?), which will fragment the Jesus-Freak bloc like the ice sheet on Greenland. Romney is in the driver's seat, even though today's headlines suggest he's running neck and neck with Ron Paul, another (eventual) loser. Perry and Bachman are history - they just don't know it yet.

You handled this as well as your decision to invade Iraq and to deregulate the financial industry.

To me it is not the fact that this guy can put you to sleep just by speaking. It is the fact that he was presented in 2009 as the 'big new thing' being groomed for the WH by the repugnicrites.

When he tanked, they rebooted and this year have replaced him with Christ Christie.......mark my words, he is the man for 2016(if he does not drop dead first)...bought and paid for by the Kochs. If you are a liberal like me, you have to kinda wonder what the GOP is up to. I mean, it's well known that they Say they don't like educated people. Why? Because educated people think for themselves, color outside the lines, don't like to be controlled. The GOP field seems to be a consortium of "de" educated candidates who are dumbing themselves down for the sake of the lowest common denominator of their party. They hope voters will vote for "Stupid" instead of "Intelligent."
