MASON CITY, Iowa – The Strong America Now Super PAC is sending direct mail pieces to Iowans this week in support of Newt Gingrich while attacking Mitt Romney – something the Gingrich campaign has vowed not to tolerate.
"Romney is the second most dangerous man in America and will perpetuate Obama's slide into financial crisis," one of at least two mailers from the Super PAC floating around the state reads. "Don't let Romney backers mislead you!" it continues.
"Newt Gingrich,” that same piece of literature reads, “Has the proven experience eliminating the deficit and making America prosperous."

Another mailer from the Strong America Now Super PAC calls Gingrich "the right choice" and says he is the only candidate that has the track record to reduce the deficit.
Romney, on the other hand, the ad reads, "has refused to sign a pledge to eliminate the deficit by the end of his first term in office… Romney's plan comes nowhere close to eliminating the federal deficit – at any point."
The former House Speaker has been very critical of Romney’s Super PAC, Restore Our Future, as it has been running endless negative television ads and mailing numerous anti-Gingrich campaign pieces.
Last Tuesday in Iowa, Gingrich even called on Romney to publicly demand his Super PACs only run positive ads.
"He can say that he condemns negative ads and I ask that PAC to run only positive ads. It is very simple. Anything short of that is bologna. We ought to understand these are his people, running his ads, doing his dirty work while he pretends to be above it," Gingrich said in Ottumwa, Iowa, on Dec. 20.
The Speaker's campaign would not comment on what seems to clearly be a pro-Gingrich Super PAC that is attacking Romney – one of the Strong America Now Super PAC mailers reads: "Newt Gingrich for president."
The purpose of the Strong America Now Super PAC mailers, according to the FEC website, is to support Gingrich and also "opposes Mitt Romney."

Unemployment sucks not because of Obama but because the real estate market is recovering from a depression. None of the Republican candidates or their policies are going to fix that until the housing market recovers. That will take time. ACtually, their policies would probably have the opposite effect and unemployment would worsen.

Yep! We overbuilt and overbought. Bush's policies on homeownership (are you breathing? you got a mortgage!) caused this entire mess and threw 7.5 million people out of work.
Get those 7.5 million back to work and the real estate market will take care of itself.
Hint: it won't be done with more spending cuts to fire even more government workers.
Real estate is going to take time to recover. The "time" is what the banks need to eradicate the "bad paper" from their books.
The banks are stuck in a bind and they are not stupid, if they dump all the bad paper, then the value of every house in america is going to tank far worse than it already has. If that happens, the banks are finished....end of story. They have to try to ballance everything, keep asset values as high as possible, minimize the totally written off bad debt and stabilize realestate values by getting managable mortgages into the hands of those who atleast have a remote possibility of paying them. As for those that are hopeless, supply and demand will reign sumpreme and the banks will have to cut their losses.

His pledge is alienating the Pubes and is a major disconnect between the politicians and the VOTERS. middle class Americans are tired of being nickled and dimed to death with regressive taxes. All that Grover's pledge is doing is protecting the top 1% from having to contribute their fair share. All of these politicians have no problem implementing regressive taxes as these are taxes which are much much more favorable to the top 1% than to the middle class.
This policy is leading to unhappyness, discontent and unfavorability amongst the remaining 99% as they are having more and more problems running away from the facts regarding fairness of taxation in the USA.
The GOP needs a major facelift..... the typical conservative religious imbosiles who comprised the GOP's "CORE" are dying and diminishing year by year and their potential pool of voters is getting smaller and smaller. The hate vote against minority interests and gay/faggots is not going to fill these gaps as minorities populations are growing quickly and the populations tolerance for minority interests is growing.
As much as I disagree with much of the GOP's philosophy, I think a strong second party is needed to ballance power and provide perspective.
Grow up Pubes and accept your share of the responsibility for the mess we are in, today is a great turning point for the GOP, either they can evolve and actually try to develop policy that benefits the majority of voters OR wither and become the next extinct political party.

On ABC Nightly News last they showed where the average American's income had dropped to 8%. A typical Congressman's and Senator's income had risen to 15%. 37 members who were millionares were Democrats and 30 members were Republican. How do they get this income? Insider trading and big corporations. Makes one wonder who the politicians are thinking about.
It's the inside trading in the stock market that congress does. Republican congressman submitted a bill to stop congress from insider trading and woops! Eric Cantor (R - Virginia) reamed him a new belly button and stopped the bill. Go ahead make your million in the stock market congress, Eric says it's ok, the teabaggin louse.
It is time for the liberals to get what they so badly want. Let them win the country and then we will see who will support them and even want them around. We will then see how socialism/communism works. I have been in several of those countries and will watch the liberals run around crying about how this is not what they were promised(way too late) and will then learn a very hard lesson. Just check with any country that is there now. Notice how the riots are people that were on the freeloading cycle and it is now dry. Very few leaders there, just enought to make it look good for the media. matter of fact, notice how the leaders just simply shoot them and leave them laying in the streets. Implement a SINGLE flat rate tax. Period.
Sign a pledge to eliminate the deficit within a first term in office? Really??? I'm glad that Romney refused to sign such a thing, then--if he really did refuse to sign such a thing! Anyone who signs something like that is a liar. For one thing, the president also needs to get Congress on board with such a plan. So far, there is no sign that the Senate is serious about cutting and eliminating deficit spending.
There also is no way anyone can eliminate this current deficit spending in one term (anyone who knows the full extent of said spending knows this) and anyone who claims that they can and signs a promise to do so are liars to the American people, just trying to garner votes. Did Gingrich sign something like that? Inquiring minds want to know! :)
The teabaggers want to nix the deal for across the board cuts. Obama will veto it. Who's for cutting spending? Not the lying baggers.
You have it the opposite, unfortunately. The Republican-controlled House wants cuts across the board. The Democrat-controlled Senate, on the other hand, have let die everything that has come across their desk to that effect. This includes over a dozen pieces of job-creation legislation still sitting languishing on Harry Reid's desk that never made it to the floor for a vote.
I'd suggest digging deeper and not falling for the propaganda the mainstream media feeds the public.
As for my opinion, the only way there ever will be real change is if we remove from office all Republicans and all Democrats. Fat chance of that ever happening with America's current political climate.

My prediction. When the smoke clears and there isn't enough support at the Republican convention for a consensus candidate, one will emerge who hasn't been beaten up in this process to win the nomination. A person that has an excellent record of accomplishments.

No. It will be a candidate not in the current field.
I think Romney will get the GOP nomination, but some third party candidates will emerge from the right. Ron Paul will definitely run as a third party candidate, and I also see Jon Huntsman and Buddy Roehmer. And don't forget the Americans Elect candidate, since they may make it onto all 50 state ballots.
When all is said and done, Obama will probably be President for another four years, given his climbing approval numbers and lack of competition.

Let the income of the top 1% go up out the roof IF they are doing something productive.
However, merely 1) shutting down factories and moving jobs to China and India due to cheap labor and non-existent environmental policy and 2) avoiding the payment of taxes while our national debt is increasing astronomically these are not sustainable, long term solutions which would merit such increases in compensation.
