First Read has confirmed, per a high-ranking Democratic source, that Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson (D) will NOT seek re-election in 2012.
Due to some tough polling numbers for Nelson, Democrats already had a pretty good chance of losing this seat next year. But Nelson's decision not to seek re-election makes it harder to keep the seat in the red state of Nebraska.
*** UPDATE *** That is, if the Democrats can't find a top-notch recruit. The same high-ranking Democratic source tells NBC News that former Nebraska Sen. Bob Kerrey (D) is considering a run with Nelson's seat open.
And the source sends this shot at the conservative Nelson, who often voted with Republicans: "He will be the least missed member of the Democratic caucus next year."
Facing a tough re-election next year, Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson has announced that he will retire at the end of his current term. NBC's Mark Murray dicsusses how this could affect the balance of power in the Senate.

Good riddance to a DINO!
I second that.... good riddance..
Never really considered him a democrat anyways.
WHy is he not a Democrat? Is it because he doesn't vote 100% liberal?
He would probably win if he switched to Republican. That would really piss you off....lol
He was the most Republican Democrat I've ever seen.
Maybe we need a Democratic Republican instead.
Hey ITM Ben Nelson was in the pocket of the health insurance companies, he is what make politicians look bad, not that they aren't already bad to start with. The whole house and Senate should be fired, because of the past years performance. They haven't done anything for the working man, just to line their own pockets
itm,
Why don't you go away. Nobody's paying attention to you and your phony shield anyway.
Jack:
You don't know me and I don't entertain ignoramouses.
Phony Shield???lol... u really are funny. You couldn't begin to understand you little twerp.
Kick Rocks
One of the most contumacious, stick-in-the-mud, bought politicians ever.
Jack - why don't YOU go away? It's people like you that scare the hell out of me. You are all for shutting down freedom of speech. Freedom of speech includes speech you don't like personally.
bb,
It's not about freedom of speech. It's about my having a visceral dislike for an ugly, phony personality. Obviously, little Brian dear, he can remain here and say anything he wants.
Nelson never was a democrat ..he got his money in back rooms .. now that he is a target .. he will drop out so he does not need to explain where he got his money .. from who for what
I hope Bob Kerrey runs. I like him.
Everybody is on to you, itm. Everybody.
He really screwed the health care bill up with his tax on Cadillac plans, and no single payer. Don't let the screen door hit you Senator.
Nelson was is and will be Democrat , this is the kind of Democrats this country need , Democrats like President John Kennedy, Democrats that figth for their country , not the radical leftist who that are taking over the party.
I hope Bob runs, and loses. Then we can listen to the idiot liberals call Nebraskans idiots. It seems the only answer liberals have to those with whom they disagree is that they must be idiots.
I wonder how they will explain Obama as a 1 term president.
So let me get this straight: Liberals always complain that republicans, especially TP repubs, are biased, i.e. not willing to compromise, but here we have a Dem (Sen. Nelson) who often did compromise and many of these same libs are now saying he wasn't more bias, or partisan towards liberal politics. So which is it libs, you want politicians who are willing to compromise or not compromise? I know, you'll make up some excuse and blame the repubs for whatever the problem. Oh crap, I broke a nail...damned republicans. I caught the clap from some bimbo down the road, damned republicans.
Yes ITM your charade has been exposed, everbody knows there are only 2 things in Texas, Steers and people like you.
Jack,
No kidding!
The closest thing the weekend warrior came to combat, was when he was whipping up his homemade napalm (lighter fluid + dish soap) playing in his sandbox!
everbody? I couldn't find that word in the dictionary. ITM what ever you do DONT produce your DD214 for anyone on this blog!
Not every body. Could you elaborate?
Senator Ben Nelson did serve in the military and we should all be thankful for that. How he served and where isn't important. He served where he was assigned, where we needed him to be.
I don't always agree with him but at least he doesn't toe the party line as the extremists of both parties tend to do. He voted the way he felt represented the interests of the people of Nebraska. If they believed he wasn't representing him they would have voted for someone else. I don't live in Nebraska but if I did I might not have voted for him or I might have voted for him depending on what other choice I had. Sometimes we feel we must vote for the least of the evils.
One thing that is good is that he announces his intent not to run early enough for the Democrats to run someone else, someone who can defeat the Republican opponent. The same applies, of course, in Massechusettes with Barney Frank. I don't always agree with Barney either and may or may not have voted for him were I living in Mass. depending on his opposition.
Nelson is a Democrat in name only, most of the time he votes with the Republican/Tea Party. He wouldn't have survived a primary challenge from a real Democrat, so he retired
IntheMiddle, TX
The notion that Dems vote the party line is ridiculous. That's a distinction that belongs to the hive minded Republicans. Numbers do not lie, If every registered Democrat voted Dem the Republicans would never win a national race. There are approximately 18 million more Democrats than there are Republicans registered in this country. Enough of a margin to win every presidential election yet 3 out of the last 5 presidents have been Republicans.
What's a shield? I think you mean unit patch.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Skeptik , it shows that independents elect the president, not Democrats or Republicans, check stats, however the number of independent in congress is not well represented, if the Congress have more independent in their representation we won't be in this partisan war among Democrats and Republicans.
oscar - 1391552. You hit it. The same group turned on Lieberman for standing with McCain. They don't care about anything other than their cause. Waiver one bit toward the right and you are resident evil, given license to be called one of theirs ONLY when it is convenient - meaning as long as you see it their way. The same group is the one promoting the Republicans as far right. The true far right is the polar opposite of the Far left. The big difference in motivation is the Far right is the Far right if it doesn't get it's choice will stay home. The Far left instead goes out and submarines anyone one that seems to be a threat.
What the left isn't telling you is that Bill Nelson was a life-long Democrat with some conservative leanings. He ran as a conservative, in a state that leans conservative. He is losing his seat because he was seduced by the Far left with promises of campaign funding, and money for his state, given to him for voting against what he ran on. When you don't represent stop representing the views of the people who elected you, you get fired.
MV - the country is center-right not left center.
40% conservative
40% moderate
20% Liberal
Gallup poll from 2008
It's no wonder Obama ran on tax cuts in 2008. What they didn't understand is the Obama was Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown to kick.
Libs are great entertainment!
Amen Korn. You think the liberal mouth breathers are foaming at the mouth now - wait until they lose even more Senate and House seats next year - along with the White House. They are going to go off the chain.
But you also have to love the fact that Nebraska is one of those "flyover" states that the likes of Barbara Boxer and other flaming arrogant liberal Democrats openly call that part of the nation. Why in the hell ANYONE living in the midwest would support the pompous party of dependence and entitlement and FAILED social programs is beyond me.
The problem with Nelson is he would lean against the Democrats just to be put in the position to ask for stuff to change his vote. I think he was a real Democrat but he would lean with the GOP for the perks. We don't need politicians like that. The folks in his state don't like him because he did this during the fight for Obamacare. He can see the writing on the wall.
oskar,
Democrats like John Kennedy...LMAO ..can he get laid that much????
Oh crap, sorry carrot top from Rockford I missed your nasty tasteless comments...shut down again LOL
Ben Nelson's a crook whether you think he's a liberal or conservative.
He exemplifies all that's wrong in our politics. Get the hell out, and stay out Nelson!!
Why has this blog been taken over by those with juvenile mentalities ? Can't people find a better way to exchange opposing ideas without crude insult and profanity ? Doesn't spacepage or facebook provide adequate enough internet access for that?
DB Akron
The country has never been more than 30% liberal. Democrat does not equal liberal. That's another notion created by the Republican right. If Darth Vader didn't have the rebels to fight he'd just be a dick. Apply that any way you'd like but it seems to fit Boehner well.
agree! so are repubs though.
And you know this how?
Phony shield? number one it's a unit patch, number two obviously since you've now been questioned twice I would like proof of this person's "phoniness" impersonating a soldier is a crime, it's up to you for proof.
The party of tolerance in here makes me want to vomit.
@oskar-1391552
We also need Republicans like Dwight Eisenhower, a real leader of men, not the actor type who played one on the big screen.
Please let me slam the door on your ass Mr. Nelson
Don't come back now, You hear?
Well there goes another rat jumping off the good ship SS Obama!!
What if President Obama wins re- election but loses the senate... what then??
Instant Lame Duck = great news for
the middle classAmerica!!mv - Democrats vary from 34% - 39% of the registered voters. Being liberal is only 20% then it is natural that not all democrats are liberal - seems mostly just the ones running for office are liberal. If you think about this that makes sense, the liberals are more motivated to change society than more conservative people.
also about 60% of the Republican party is actually conservative. You would think that their candidate would be always conservative, but they are usually more moderate. What happens is enough Purist conservatives run a scorched earth practice that only 40% of the party needs to vote for a more moderate candidate to gain the nomination.
Notice how nearly all of Fiesty's posts consist of name-calling, insults, and cheering on other libs. It is painfully obvious that she has no argument or substance of her own, yet she is all over the newsvine, commenting with the same style. She is a blatant pseudo-intellectual, the type that makes up the majority of the liberal base. She cannot argue or debate actual points or facts, all she can do is use her little brain for insults, like a child, while simply being a mouthpiece for her own ideology. It is fun to watch!
Ben Nelson will go down in history for taking the "Cornhusker Kickback" and selling out his country to benefit the State of Nebraska. Without his "purchased" vote, this monstrosity called Obamacare would have never happened.
Funny thing, after he sold his soul, I think he later regretted his actions.
One less Democrat. Another win for America.
P.S.
"First Read has confirmed, per a high-ranking Democratic source, that Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson (D) will NOT seek re-election in 2012."
HaHa. Real news sites have been running this for days... Nelsons own commercial announcing his retirement has even been out for days.
Oskar.
You check the stats. Independents only make up about 30% of registered voters. There are less registered Independents now (by percentage) than there were 30 years ago. A Democrat running for national office would need a much smaller percentage of registered Independent votes than a Republican counterpart.
The reality is that the Democrats will probably lose control of the Senate in the 2012 elections anyway.
With 23 seats up for election in 2012 (vs only 10 for Republicans), all the Republicans need is to win a net of 4, and in 2010 the Republicans won a net of 7 out of 18 previously Democratic held seats.
With control of the legislative agenda, even if Obama is reelected (unlikely), his far-left agenda will be gutted.
My personal election model for the 2012 elections estimates Obama will get only about 42% of the vote (if held today) - principally because of a 6% drop in people who self-identify as Democrats and an estimated 3% drop in likely voters among the young voters, as well as a significant drop in support from Independents and perhaps Hispanics.
In the 2008 elections, the total difference in the popular vote for Obama can be accounted for by high school dropouts (63% voted for Obama) and young voters (66% voted for Obama) who will likely return to their normal voting pattern in 2012. When combined with the dramatic swing in Independent voters against Obama in current polls and fewer Democrats, it looks quite bleak for Obama's reelection chances, and since Obama's only chance is to run a really negative campaign, it will likely dampen turnout even further, which typically hurts the Democrats. That will likely hurt the Democrats in Congressional races as well.
Amusing to see the extreme left wing wombats, attacking Ben Nelson from their own party, because he demonstrated
he could occasionally remove his head from the collective ass's of the DNC, Mr. Obama and George Sorosoccaisional free thought and did not always march in lock step with his party.considering both parties are pretty much the same it doesn't matter who controls congress or the senate they're all in it for themselves anyway.
Both parties are hardly the same. Democrats did not try to block the payroll tax cuts; did they? Ben Nelson was an infiltrator who signed on as a Democrat so he could set in on their meetings and talks and then run back to the GOP and tell them everything the Democrats planned to do? May he roast and rot!
Yeah, payroll tax cuts that are now raping SS by ONE THIRD, with nothing filling the void of the funds cut off to SS...all the while baby boomers are just now starting to retire and will be doing so for decades, meaning they will sap SS like it has never been sapped before meaning it is our CHILDREN who will be forced to deal with the SS issue when it explodes....and Obama and the Dems held the country hostage over it....so a person making $60,000 a year will get an extra $20 a week now. PATHETIC. IGNORANT. STUPID. DESTROYING THE FUTURE OF OUR CHILDREN. Thanks dems.
JC Breeze "Both parties are hardly the same. Democrats did not try to block the payroll tax cuts; did they?"
Actually, the Republicans were insisting on a 12 month extension of the payroll tax cuts. It was the Democrats that insisted on only 2 months, so we have to go through this nonsense again in about 8 weeks.
Unfortunately, it ends up speeding up the bankruptcy of the Social Security fund and deepens the Deficit too because the Democrats don't want to cut spending to offset the tax cuts.
Good riddance to any and all Democrats.
Good riddance to the Tea Party in 2012.
He was a Democrat in name only. He voted as a Republican lacky. Good riddance to bad rummage.
Chuck, you need to look up the definition of rummage!!
Joseph, I couldn't agree more with ya....Down with the democraps...
Why would they even consider electing another Socialist/Democrat liberal, gun-grabbing, communist-leaning person in the great State of Nebraska?
Really? To any and all democrats?
Step back a second and take a good, long look.
If it spends like a progressive, and provides services like a progressive, it's a progressive.
Now let's look at Republican 'breakthrough's'. Medicare Part D.
Now, tell me again...which party is fiscally conservative?
If you say either (R) or (D), you are wrong.
One wants to start wars we have to borrow money to fight.
The other wants to provide social services we have to borrow money to provide.
Key word? Borrow.
This is a one-party system fella. Better get used to that, or vote Ron Paul.
This is called the 'elite' being smarter than you, and convincing you that you had a choice somewhere along the way.
/Truth
I'm a Republican, I live in an old trailer in Alabama I make about $15,000 a year and I know the GOP has my back. the Democratic party is so obviously for the wealthy. We need Newt or Mitt to straighten things out. That Obama has raised my taxes and gotten us into so many wars.
Vote Republican people so we can undo the damage the Democraps have done, the Country was doing very well until that Muslim was sworn in.
signed Rednecker the delusional Republican who craves yet still believes the rightwing bull@!$%#.
sarcasm
Hey John, how do you explain the Republican refusing to raise taxes on the wealthy, and trying to do away with Medicare if the Democrats are for the rich.
The Republicans have you fooled.
Geez Eric I was being sarcastic about the fooled republicans.
LMAO.......Oh My God! Two of them on the same blog!
berden, how are things in Tennessee? Pack those bags for Costa Rico, yet? tic, toc, tic, toc......What part of the user agreement don't you understand? Bon Voyage! ;-)
Just how difficult is it to understand that nearly all (if not all) of these clowns are there for their own good and not for the good of the masses?
Something I learned over the weekend:
When John Runyan took office as a Senator, he has his office furniture refitted for his height (he's 6'-7") at the tune of around $1M. Let that sink in. They spent $1,000,000 of taxpayer money so he could get modified furniture.
Secondly, he owns a house in Moorestown, NJ with about 8,000 ft2. He had one cow but they denied him farm status. He bought a second cow and now qualifies for farm status and pays about 25% of the real estate taxes that he should.
This is the kind of crap people are sick of regarding our famed public officials and this is why they all need to be replaced!
OMG......I keep stepping in right wing troll do do, I'll come back later when Karl Roves paid hate merchants take a lunch break.
Is Nancy Pelosi a democrat? She's worth 190 million. Man, seems to me she should be helping the poor people with all that money....but no...she just keeps it for herself. Nancy Pelosi is one of the reason I can't deal with democrats. Ron Paul 2012
Ron Paul?!? Ya' mean the racist, old fart who claims to be a medical doctor, but actually believes if you touch something in a gay person's house, you'll get AIDS? That gays enjoy the attention and pity that comes with being sick, referring to AIDS? That Ron Paul? The one who says we should stock pile guns for the race war that's coming? (That's the rationale of the all gun nuts and the NRA, don'cha know?) The guy who voted against the Civil Rights Act in '64? Who voted against Congressional Medals for Rosa Parks and Dr. King? He's just an archaic, racist, backwards dinosaur. Oh, and he's from Texas, for god's sake.
So what, he was never a Democrat. We will not weep for you Ben, you have been more of a detriment to Democratic causes than some republicans. Traitor.
Ginger,
"more of a detriment to Democratic causes" - you mean like his vote to pass ObamaCare?
Ahh, another democrat proponent. The US is spending 8 Billion dollars a WEEK just to cover the INTEREST on our national debt. President Obama doesn't want to cut ANYTHING! At least the Republicans are proposing some cuts. Our only hope is RON PAUL 2012.
Gingerbread:
Nebraskans elected Nelson, Nebraskans re-elected him and if Nebraskans wanted to oust him, or scare him from running - that is their right. If Nelson is getting scared, then he should have thought twice before taking Harry's Reid's bait.
If you are a Nebraskan, you have the right to call Nelson a traitor, If your are not one, then please stick to your own two Senators and one Representative in your district and butt out off of ours, thank you very much.
This is what will happen at the polls to any and all candidates who bear the dreaded "D" after their names.
ABO 2012
It's Nebraska, known to be a red state, so its expected.
Want a better economy, vote out the Tea Party in 2012.
Want to put an end to obstructionism in Congress, vote out the Tea Party in 2012.
Any but Gingrich or Romney.
That's just one more seat to be picked up by the tea party!
GO TEA PARTY!
Rob, you're probably correct. There are a lot of backwards dummies in Nebraska.
There, fixed it. It's tough to argue 4% unemployment plus a balanced state budget given the state of the rest of the country.
So according to some you, you say get rid of the Democrat's. Is that all the Democrat's in the country? I'll bet all you folks who make less that a 100 thousand and vote for the republican/tea bag party will be in for a rude awaking if it goes the republican/tea bag party way. Do you really think there are looking out for you? They will say anything to get your vote, than reach around and stick the knife in your back while looking you in the eye. But than it'll be to late.
Yep, 10,000 farmers, all working for Cargill.
So that means they even feed the idiots in Pa.
Nebraska, Ah, Corn fed, inbred right wing nutjobs.
A place where your sister could be you mother and your wife at the same time.
A place where you can make a grown man squeal like a pig and nobody willl hear it for miles.
So, Bens going to go home to be with his sister and raise his pigs.
Ahh, Pennsylvania.
A land where trailer parks outnumber homes.
A land of Bam Margera and butthole and poop jokes for fun.
A land where their quarterbacks rape women in bathrooms and electrocute, drown, and murder dogs.
A land where unlicensed doctors perform late term abortions with scissors and create their own house of horrors.
A beautiful land with a hardworking citizenry, where half the population is on welfare.
Ahh Pennsylvania, where even the Amish murder each other.
Good stuff, Jack.
And the source sends this shot at the conservative Nelson, who often voted with Republicans: "He will be the least missed member of the Democratic caucus next year."
I beg to differ:
Signed:
Joe Lieberman
Al, look whats happened to your great state of California...All Democraps ruining the state daily..
You are bankrupt...
Jean-982597
One of the many problems for Rethuglicans...their REDDEST states (OK, MS, LA, KY, etc..), are the poorest, have the worst education, have high unemployment, lost many textile/manufacturing jobs that went overseas, have poor farmers, and keep re-electing the same Republicans back to the Senate & House. These same states are the first to CRY out for gov't assistance when the floods, tornados, and other 'locusts' come upon them, and the last to say 'thank you'. Yet...they scream 'don't tread on me', 'not in my backyard', and 'no gov't bailouts'...that is of course, until they need the money. Then the pork barrel spending in 'their backyard' is not such a bad BBQ idea after all!!
California may not be doing well, but those RED states are doing just as bad or worse! What have the Republicans REALLY done for any of you lately? How is that trickle down economy working out since the Reagan days? This is what happens without appropriate regulations...Wall street gets strung out on crack that looks/smells like $100 bills!!
Talk about "ruining the state daily"...this has been going on for decades!!! At least be honest in your criticism & snide remarks Jean...just sayin'
Thanks for your concern Jean. Governor Brown is doing his best to unwind the mess that Republican Arnold Swazenegger left him. California would do just fine of the federal tax dollars Californians pay were spent in California rather than subsidize the leeching red states. Maybe we should make a Constitutional Amendment that the federal govenment should not spend more in any given state in federal revenues than it collects. Then watch the red states howl!
This would fix California's problems while also destroying most of the red states. Unfortunately most people, conservatives in particular, do not have the mental capacity to understand the disparity between taking tax funds from one state and using them in another.
I think that's a grand idea you two- then my red state would get the money back we put in too, fair's fair right?
Al
Have you forgotten that the State Legislature in California has been controlled by the Democrats for 40+ YEARS???
Slodon, have you forgotten California has had Republican Governors 23 of the past 29 years?
Al
But the Republican Governors couldn't do ANYTHING with a Democrat Controlled Legislature. Remember??
and despite the mountains of impossible anti-pollution regulations, has the most dirty cities.
slodon makes a great point. Most of our states and the fed have a balance of power. The Chief executive can promote a particular direction, but it only goes as far as the legislature allows.
federally, we have a House that passed a budget, sent quite a number of spending cuts and regulation cuts to the Senate where they all died. I don't hear the president asking for those things.
Four years ago we had a democrat House and Senate that sent higher spending to a president who requested less than they sent. Being overruled several times the spending went through - and people blame him.
Two years ago we had a house that sent many increases in regulations, tax increases, some tax cuts, Stimulus bills, and a health care bill to the senate. Most of those went through to a president who was only too happy to sign more spending and taxes. And people blame the president of 4 years ago for this?
The President is an advisor to the House and Senate. He cannot spend a nickel unless they approve. The same is true of almost every state and most cities in our country.
If the Democratic Party(run by the DLC) would put up a REAL Dem, things would be great.
Not going to miss Nelson.
Your right - there would be even more Republicans.
He never was a Democrat, he never worked for us Dems, good ridance. Find a Progressive or let the Tpubs have it, no difference.
FINALLY! This comes at a good time. America has seen through the lies of the teabaggers and those on the right interested in destroying America for political gain. We can run a REAL Dem for that seat and be better off.
As long as Democrats run many states, the hand outs will continue.. You have got to rid the
Countryu of democrats..
Yup.
Sure glad those democrats passed Medicare Part D-...oh, my bad.
Another buncha brain-washed suckers.
"Nah we don't want to destroy America just those handouters that think we owe them a living"
Only the wealthy and the corporations expect the government to subsidize them with ttaxes collected from the middle class.

jean What do you mean rid the country of Democrat's? How do you do that? Answer please!

How do you know it's the same person?
Geesus Is tracking he/she/it a job of yours? Or is this your version of stalkerdom!
Go ahead and run a Leftard in Nebraska. We could use the laughs
You nailed it doug - only tyler and Sally would have that info - unless Cynthia is part of the Newsvine staff.
Either you have no life or you work at newsvine to which several people in here does.
There is no way in hell an ordinary POSTER would have that information. That means you have access to all of the IP addy's of everyone in here.
Nice work Cynbad!
The paranoia amongst the right wing nut jobs is running deep! lmao!
They better set some traps for us liberals under their bed this evening! ;o)
What do you know.. The nappy red bush chimes in.
Evidently you are paranoid; feeling you need to respond to everyone else's conversation.
I ♥ it!
You of all people calling me 'nappy'!
So much pent up anger & so little time there ITM!
How do YOU manage? lol
I'm sure your wife & dogs appreciate your time away from the 'house'! ;o)
Not a chance, my little keyboard warrior - just pointing out the obvious to you & your ignorant cohorts!
Tell us again what a great & famous warrior you were! ROTFLMFAO!
You little man, are a bigger chicken than the @!$%# you serve up at your BBQ shack!
Feisty - Ben Nelson is one of three Democrats who signed the Grover Norquist pledge - never to raise taxes
I sent an e-mail to his office three months ago - informing him that I have told my children and my friends who live in Nebraska that we all know of his pledge and how it has influenced his voting and they will be voting against him - no reply
Wow Feisty I thought only Republicans were racist?? Why didn't you just call him a ni**er while you were at it? I'm not one for collapsing posts, but this one's got to go.
WOW - Wifey, WHY don't YOU go back and actually READ the exchange - ITM was the one who called ME nappy to begin with...
Psst - I happen to be white!
Rumor has it the YWCA is holding classed for reading comprehension.... You might want to look into it!
Take off your blinders baby - you will be amazed at what you can actually SEE! ;o)
I have ZERO tolerance for those who wear their military BS on their sleeves...
My husband did TWO tours in Viet Nam (voluntarily) & he doesn't have to cry out for accolades!
1SgFitzWife41D-
Hey girl do you think you are the only wife of a husband who has served, my husband Air Force stationed at the Berlin Wall go back farther probably before you were born, my gorgeous blonde blue eyed 18 year uncle died on the Bataan Death March and my other glorious uncle black haired brown eyed was a sailor on Boats that invaded the beaches of Normandy brought back pictures of his buddies head blown off and was never the same - so I take umbrage of you flaunting your husband's credentials -
Feisty's husband served in Viet Nam - I notice she doesn't hide behind him but is her own person contrary to you
And my dear what are your accomplishments in life and what have you given to make this country better?
Until you answer that you really have nothing to add but to criticize - a thought of your own - I think not
Notice how nearly all of Fiesty's posts consist of name-calling, insults, and cheering on other libs.
Roanoke1, cut and paste, again, my how the mind can work!!!
Speaking of minds, it is fun to notice how you contribute nothing, Bob, other than saracasm. Sounds like you and Fiesty were made for each other.... LOL!
And ITM happens to be BLACK! hence you being a racist, my reading comprehension is fine thank you.
I'm sorry that it offends y'all that I'm proud of my husband's service and choose to wear it on my sleeve. Oh wait no I'm not. My husband has served this country in uniform for 24 years starting during the first Gulf war he's been deployed more times than I can count.
My service to this country has been to be part of the CARE/GO team, one of the hardest jobs "in the military" as a military wife (you should look into the care/go team if anyone has lost a soldier their family knows what we do). My service also includes being there for the soldiers when they get back, sitting with them when they're told they're never going to walk/see/hear etc etc again, I don't support our troops by slapping a little yellow ribbon on my car and call it a day. I volunteer with the Salvation Army and two churches in my city helping to pass out food and clothing, helping people find shelters and jobs.
I DO my part, I don't HIDE behind anything.
Boo! ping>ping>ping> Happy hunting,

What's your point cynthia?
Other than you've never had a friend in your life and the other kids thought you smelled?
The reason we never get these announcements from Republicans is because their egos won't let them quit...so they get thrown out or voted out. 2012 should be good.
Sorry Eric, they have way too much money and power. There is an army of middle class Americans who feel that the Tea Party is their only hope of restoring their financial health. They are bombarded with catch-phrases constantly that depict "government spending like a drunken sailor" as the reason for middle class evaporation.
Tea Party is dead, just needs to be buried. They poll right behind VD now, C-YA!
Middle Class Tea Party? That's about like calling Ben Nelson a Democrat.
ThinkingScientist, please don't insult sailors like that! The worst drunken sailor is a saint compared to these demonrats!
Then maybe they should just elect a drunken sailor to find out where the money went.
The Tea Party stands for deficit defense spending with the US invading countries at will. It stands for the elimination of taxes for the wealthy and for corporations. It stands for incresed taxes from the middle class.
Drunken sailor or Republican. The IQ and skill set will be the same. It's hilarious to watch the mindless stumble all over each other on here to declare their loyalty to a bunch of obstructive terrorists who smoke Tea.
Amused Now really if they were smoking tea ( or my idea of tea) they wouldn't be so obstructive. They would be a little more relaxed and willing to work together. Think about this the teabaggers would be nothing without the republicans.
The T-party doesn't care about that, what they really care about is having a black family in the White House!!
not to find out where the money went, even a drunken sailor stops spending when they run out of money.
Jim - you have a lot of bear in most parts of PA. They hibernate during the winter months. You don't dare mistake a hibernating bear for being dead do you? The Tea party People are in hibernation - spring is coming.
the hell with all liberals, they need the isssssssslammmmmmmm extremism to demolish them
I hope all democrats get voted out in 2012.
So the republicans can continue to borrow money for wars and pass more costly legislation without democratic influence?
Makes it a lot easier to borrow money to fight wars we can't afford, if everything is controlled by a single party.
Show me when the republicans have been 'fiscally conservative'.
Bama - are you really paying attention or do you spend all your time listening to Fox News or Rush? Many, many Repubs who truly pay attention are disgusted with the current group of their kind in power. 2010 was the year of the GOP, 2012 will be the year of Dems. People are seeing that Dems have their back while most in the GOP have the backs of the super rich.
sorry tek democrats borrowed just as much money for those wars as the republicans did. You people make me laugh, BOTH sides are equally guilty and yet all you can do is sit around and whine about how rebubs did this, well dems did this, it's very sad.
I don't think I said the democrats didn't.
They are guilty as the republicans are.
I am, however, saying the party which espouses 'fiscal conservatism' is anything but. And the party which espouses 'equality and government as a social institution' is failing miserably as well.
See? one party. And fiscal conservatism, equality and government as a social institution just aren't on that parties platform.
Ahhh I get what you're saying now. I also should've started You people as another paragraph so that it didn't make it look like I was directly speaking to you.
Over the years any committe or bill he was involved with, became a @!$%# magnet for America. He was good at working both sides of the street, but not for our country, but his best interests. I'll bet that besides his custom suits, came custon pants. The ones that had pockets that went down to his knees for all the
kickbackscontributions.Don't count Nelson out on leaving Washington. He just qualified himself to be a top lobbyist.
one less republican, to deal with
This is good news for the Democrats, send the other blue dogs down the road also. Nelson was one of the crooks that forced the Health Care bill to get watered down. GET LOST
go to hell
little more information please
I bet the Repubs are really gonna miss their greatest ally.
Here's a thought: Why don't we try a Senator that does not belong to any party. Just wants to do whats right for the country, not toe-the-party-line.
Any takers?
I can't.
I have no money and I will not take money from any corp or special intrest group. Sorry America!
So Eric.....no job?
I'd do it but alas I don't handle the cold well. Good luck though I really hope you find someone.
I don't know how the Republicans could win in 2012. The republicans cut revenue, but spend like drunken sailors under Geo. W. Bush. Then they borrow trillions of dollars to make up for their mis-management. Now the Democrats have the White house the republicans do all they can in Congress to drive the country deeper into the ground. Now they want to defeat a tax cut for the middle class who will spend it and boost the economy. But they want a tax cut for the rich, one that will run the debt up and hurt the country. Yet there are Apathetic poor and middle class Americans that will vote for the Republicans, how can that be????
Because they are racists. And will vote for anyone white who kicks that "N" word in their lingo out of their "White House". It's as simple as that. Their racist hatred even overwhelms their survival instaincts! That's why some evil old racist people who depend on programs like Medicare and Social Security for survival vote for Republicans who want to eliminate and obliterate both programs. And literally toss them onto the streets in destitution. In a few words, they are pyschopatitic, hypocritical sickos. And always have been
a sad day for the republican party
I beg to differ it was the dems namely Obuma and pillosy and the rest of the dem congress in 2007 that voted for the spending increase against Bushe's advice check your sources
The President's budget request constitutes an extensive proposal of the administration's intended spending and revenue plans for the following fiscal year. The budget proposal includes volumes of supporting information intended to persuade Congress of the necessity and value of the budget provisions.
The next step is the drafting of a budget resolution. The United States House Committee on the Budget and the United States Senate Committee on the Budget are responsible for drafting budget resolutions.
The above is condensed from Wikipedia… so that makes the below believable to me at least. J
The Washington Post babbled again today about Obama inheriting a huge deficit from Bush. Amazingly enough, a lot of people swallow this nonsense. So once more, a short civics lesson.
Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress, and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democratic Party. They controlled the budget process for FY 2008 and FY 2009, as well as FY 2010 and FY 2011. In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases. For FY 2009, though, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the FY 2009 budgets.
And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete FY 2009. Let's remember what the deficits looked like during that period:
If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the FY 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets. If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself.
In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th.

All 12 times Bush used his veto pen was after 2007. Everything the Democrats proposed, Bush vetoed.
So who was really shaping policy if the Democrats were shot down at every turn?
JohnnyB..the race card is always a sign of a leftard who has nothing else. It didnt work in 2010 and it wont work in 2012
Johnny B
Enough of the racist attacks. There is no proof that Republicans are racist - NONE. Name them & with proof or can the line - Okay?
You're kidding right? The GOP has unashamedly run the racist "southern strategy" in every presidential election since 1968. This year we've witnessed Rick Perry wax nostalgic about his youth growing up hunting at his family run "Camp @!$%#head", Newt Gingrich suggest that "really poor kids" should be put to work cleaning the school bathrooms and work for the "Master Janitor", Ron Paul pretend NO ASSOCIATION with his own racist newsletters and distance himself from his opposition to the Voting Rights Act. YOU should CAN IT.
Indy man you A$$ume too much and read too much into other things - just as you are daily being trained by what you chose to read.
The camp was named for it's location and not for a racist reason - you would know that, if you looked it up. BTW - I'm not in Perry's camp.
You are assuming that "really poor kids" means blacks. In Georgia there is as many poor white kids as minority kids. The percentage is lower because there are several times the number of caucasian people as minorities. This is a racist painting trick by liberals. The same trick is applied to slamb finance for racism, when decisions are done solely on is the income and credit history good enough to lend to these people. Because by constitution requires that laws be applied equally, legislation aims at poor people instead of minorities. By assuming that poor = racist then you are slighting those who are not a minority. At this point, I don't support Gingrich. BTW "master janitor" is a typical title from that area along with "boss Man".
I'm not a Ron Paul supporter, and really he is a libertarian who is registered republican. The newsletter makes his younger days suspicious, but even at that, most congress people don't write their own newsletters - my own representative doesn't - his office sends thinly altered crap directly from pelosi's desk as his. It was sent in his name, he didn't stop it, he looks like a racist for it.
As for the Voting rights act - he is on record for voting for a voting rights act that went further than the one passed.
The evidence you use to convict these people is really thin, once anyone with the ability do research does some pretty simple checking.
Indyman,
Ummm....you do know that a Republican freed the slaves, against Democrat wishes, right? You do know that Democrats invented the KKK, right? You do know that Jim Crow laws were implemented by Democrats, right? You do know that, in the early 1900s, the Democrat Party had over 40 members of Congress that were also official members of the KKK, right? You do know that DEMOCRATS ACTIVELY FOUGHT AGAINST THE 1964 Civil Rights Act, right? You do know that AL Gore Sr filibustered AGAINST the Civil Rights Act, right? You do know that Democrats elected, for DECADES, Robert Byrd, who was in the KKK for years, right?? Hmmm....nope, it is the Democrats who have a long and notable history of BEING RACISTS!!
Please, go read a book before you post your false tripe.
Seems to me this only shows the diversity that the Democratic party has, as opposed to the step in time Republicans. Makes sense to most moderate voters. That is why the Republicans have to scrape the bottom of the food chain of intellect in order to survive on "principle".
Wait, Bob, you do realize that in your post, you are espousing the values of racism!!!! Good stuff, at least you are an honest racist (unlike most Dems). (Ummm...where are the newsvine moderators, we have a self-proclaimed racist here, he should be suspended from the site, where is the objectivity?) LOL!!!
As for this making sense to most "moderate" voters...Hmm...moderate voters are called "independents." The same independents that swung the 2008 election in favor of Obama, and the same independents that favor the GOP by a large majority now... Good stuff, Bob.
Only in your eyes, you put others comments in your political vain, we do not want to "step in line", as shown by Republican party "hold the line" Congressional voting. Democrats, and their elected members serve a broader range of our constituants, as shown by their voting record . Nuff said, Parrot.
No, I did no such thing. I just merely pointed out that the Dems have a history of racism, which you then legitimized and praised.
So, I simply pointed out that you are racist and are glad the Dems have diversity that is derived from the racism that exists in their party.
Democrats serve no one, just whichever constituent will keep them in power, hence all of their lies and false promises to garner votes. Its like Nancy Pelosi being a 'champion' of the poor, and then spending millions of dollars in taxpayer funded security to stay in a 10,000$ a night room over the Holidays. Its like Nancy Pelosi giving us this great Obamacare bill, championing it for the poor, and then giving businesses in her own district more Obamacare waivers than any other district in America. Nuff said, you typical liberal racist hypocrite. LOL!!
here is a interesting read, as the Conservative SCOTUS ruling on campaign contributions allows unlimited spending. So much for a "less intrusive", "smaller", "stay out of my personal affairs", Federal Government. Wait till these candidates have to "step in line" with the others. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-57348865-503544/new-pro-gingrich-super-pac-ad-blasts-liberal-republican-establishment/
Here is another example of what "big money" can buy, and how those who follow will "step in line". http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2011/12/19/391962/video-1994-mitt-romney-explains-how-2011-mitt-romneys-wall-street-donors-will-corrupt-mitt-romney/
Look, Mitt learned a lot from the Bush, "Family of Secrets" legacy. http://articles.boston.com/2011-10-07/news/30254612_1_spencer-zwick-mitt-romney-equity
Mitts at it again, padding his partners way to a election result. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/post/did-mitt-romney-just-come-out-for-unlimited-campaign-contributions/2011/12/21/gIQA8JPs9O_blog.html
Here is Mitts Presidential campaign finances for 2008, yes it was over $100,000,000., what will it take this time. http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/summary.php?id=n00000286
Here is Mitt's 2012 campaign contributions, notice 10% are from small contributors. He really depends on his constituants, at least the one's who have money. http://www.opensecrets.org/pres12/candidate.php?id=N00000286
Here is Mitt at it again, http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/election-2012/post/mitt-romney-campaign-finance-law-changes-making-mockery-of-campaign-season/2011/12/20/gIQAZSLx6O_blog.html.
“This is a strange thing in these campaign finance laws,” Romney said. “They’ve set up these new entities, which I think is a disaster, by the way. Campaign finance law has made a mockery of our political campaign season. We really ought to let campaigns raise the money they need and just get rid of these super PACs.”, Mitt's direct quote. Now it is the laws that is a mockery, not those who contribute to him but the law. Typical conservative philosophy, the law is wrong not those who use it.
The same thing happened with the Free Trade Agreements of the past 20 years. The law restricts foreign country's from trading with us, so let's repeal them, so it has come to pass. Those Free Trade Acts were all introduced in Congress by conservatives/Republicans, and passed. Now, why is our Trade inbalance far greater, even by percentage of G.N.P., than before those Acts became law? Now we all can shop at Wal-Mart, the import King of America.
http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/statistics/historical/gands.txt, here is the historic stats.
Parrot, read up on who shipped our jobs overseas, and compare it to the historical Trade Imbalance we have.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fast_track_(trade). In a word- Conservatives, mainly Republicans, and the Blue Dog Dems. Our Trade imbalance in one month is equal to the last "job creation" bill introduced by Democrats. So how will your theory fit this gapping hole in our economy? Parrot.
Read, parrot and learn, http://www.epi.org/publication/webfeatures_viewpoints_tradetestimony/
"In addition to eliminating hundreds of thousands of U.S. jobs (Scott and Rothstein 1997), NAFTA has also initiated tremendous structural changes in all three member countries (EPI et al 1997). For example, the U.S. trade surplus in agricultural products has declined sharply with Mexico, and has turned into a deficit with Canada. However, changes in the trade balance mask even larger changes in the structure of agriculture. Some U.S. producers of corn and cattle have profited, as have all the major grain trading companies, while Canadian Dairy farms, US farmers growing wheat, barley, fruits and vegetables, and Mexican corn producers have all suffered catastrophic losses (Scott 1999b)."
"The U.S. trade deficit through May 1999 has increased by more than one-third, over the same period last year, as shown in Table 1. The deficit with the NAFTA countries has more than doubled over 1998 (Table 1), reflecting the impacts of the decline in the value of the Canadian dollar and the peso last year and the rapid growth of foreign investment in Maquiladora production facilities in Mexico."
"The dependence of the U.S. on commodity exports and the steady erosion of output and employment in high-wage, high technologies industries are stark indicators of the failure of U.S. trade and industrial policies to nurture and sustain U.S. international competitiveness. Other countries have prospered at the expense of the U.S. Can these problems be reversed?"
"Investor rights have been given top priority in bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations. Workers, consumers and environmentalists have been left out. These groups have formed an informal coalition with conservatives in many regions that has successfully blocked fast track, the MAI and several other important trade initiatives in the past several years."
"Trade policy has provided a significant stimulus to such corporate out-sourcing, especially in the 1990s. The Uruguay Round, which created the World Trade Organization, and the NAFTA trade agreement, greatly advanced the interests of multinational business. These agreements protected investors through limits on trade related investment measures, intellectual property rights enforcement and by bringing services trade into the WTO."
"First, the U.S. should enter into no new trade agreements, including China’s proposed entry into the WTO, unless and until those agreements are revised to include enforceable labor rights and environmental standards as core elements. This will require, at a minimum, agreements to achieve internationally agreed upon standards, international performance reviews, and enforcement of these standards through trade sanctions."
Here is the trade deficit counter for this year, http://americaneconomicalert.org/ticker_home.asp, how will your political theory resolve this? $540,000,000,000. just for this year, and you spout conservative value.
Mo Brook is a Republican, http://americaneconomicalert.org/view_art.asp?Prod_ID=5043
Bob,
LOL. Wow, you obviously have a lot of time on your hands. It must be nice getting to play on the computer all day while living off the rest of us. You libs are so easy to spot. Shouldn't you be out pooping in a park and complaining about what you dont have?
I notice that in your desperation, you flail about in your argument and bring about an entirely new topic, all the while completely dismissing and failing to respond or even attempt to debate the Dems history of racism or even to defend against charges of being a racist yourself. Your concession is noted.
Blue dog democrats, in a sentence. look it up and stop the innuendo and generality. Democrats represent more of the constituents of our country, and do not follow party lines, as shown by the "step in line", Congressional Republicans."It must be nice getting to play on the computer all day while living off the rest of us", and that is a response, or is it hatred, I'll guess it is hatred, and ignorance.
No Democrats do not represent more constituents. Like I said before, you merely use constituents to garner votes, while telling lies to do so (read ALL of Obama's broken campaign promises). Republicans are for the less government, the freedom of EVERYONE. Same with conservative economic theory and a free market, not your liberal Keynesian economics of infusing billions of taxpayer dollars to stimulate an economy.
Democrats claim to represent more people but that is simply based on what free stuff you give the masses. You create generations that are dependent on government for survival, even if it means running our country into the ground to do so. Take the payroll tax for example. You idiot dems were all for putting an extra 100$ a month in the hands of someone making $60,000 a year by reducing the payroll tax by one third. But, the largest generation in modern history, the baby boomers, are now starting to retire and will be doing so for the next 20 years. Again, you idiot dems have cut the ONLY source of funds going into SS by ONE THIRD, at a time WHEN SS will be sapped for decades!!! So, you are raping our SS funds, to give 'poor' and middle class earners a little cash per month, but doing NOTHING to make up the difference to SS. GOOD JOB DEMS. So, you see, you are promising the masses money now (to gain their votes), but just kicking the can down the road for our children to deal with when SS tanks. THANKS DEMS. How typical, how ignorant, and how pathetic. (Oh, and I suggest reading FDRs comments on any future politician that tried to mess with SS). LOL!!!
I guess its hard for you to understand that the last time we had a balanced budget and a surplus, the Republicans controlled both the House and Senate. Democrats have controlled Congress since 2007. Thanks guys, its been a great ride so far.
Being in lock step is about principle and about honor. Its nice to see at least one party being able to stick together based on principle. Dems are only swayed by how much money they can get for themselves and their district.....like the Cornhusker Kickback, Louisiana Purchase, and Sestak 7. (None of them would vote for Obamacare until they were given special, shady, backroom deals). Ironically, it is the kickback that ruined your Democrat Nelson's career, which is why he is 'retiring.' He knows he has no chance of being re-elected. HAHA.
Dixiecrats and blue dog Democrats, look it up, learn, and use it. Again, without a balancing of our trade deficit, which is increasing faster and a more significant drain on our economy, and has increased no matter what the make-up of our Federal government for 40 years, we will still go bankrupt. More money flows out of our borders than comes back, simple economics. The Trade deficit is staggering as shown by the links above.
The Federal Budget, deficit,National Debt, and States rights, are being tossed around today because of politics, and was of little consequence just ten years ago, according to both party's.
Also our Federal reserve just issued loans to EIU, Europe's Central Bank to the toon of 17 trillion American Dollars, that is more than the current National Debt. Who knows or understands the consequences, if they post political garbage in my opinion. Their will be 17 trillion more dollars in circulation and the value of the dollars you or I hold will be less, simple economics, unless the demand for those dollars increases proportionally.
The increase in campaign contributions for elections will not solve the Deficit, but onle increase it, no matter who is in office, so you better get used to it.
This is why you hear the outcry about Corporation Greed. The above links suggest that our trade of durable goods, products we produce with our resources both natural and employment has declined while those multi-national Corporations and commodity traders have reaped profits. Clever idea to produce a profit for investors, but the "trickle down economics " has not worked, and left us holding the paper, as happened the last 6 years. Again, when Europe uses those 17 trillion, banks will have a obligation to pay-back the Federal Reserve at the current rate of .5%, yet those banks will lend at a much higher rate, in hopes of increasing profit and investment, if they can not we will hold the paper that will be a negative against our currency, and you will have less net worth. It is called inflation, which at one time was held between our borders, but now is directly joined with most financial institutions in the modern world.
@Roaoke; Liberallies; DB Akron:
Your knee jerk and predictable reactionary responses are so typical of right wing, racist, reactionary thinking. You just get mad, mean and true to character when people hold up a mirror to your faces. And show you who and what you really are as opposed to what you pretend to be, or say you are.
Roanoke1. The answer to your litany of truths is a greater truth that you ignore or fail to acknowledge because of your own bias. The vast majority of the racist Democrats you refer to, all switched over to the Republican Party after the historic civil rights victories of the 1960's. The nation has had to endure this wicked and malevolent backlash (as predicted by President Lyndon Johnson) for over 40 years. The Democrats lost the South completely to Nixon's Southern Strategy. That strategy deliberately harnessed the hateful white racist backlash of the time and converted it into a GOP majority. Ronald Reagan expanded it into the North with Blue Collar Democratic Trade Union sympathizers (Reagan Democrats). They were all racist Archie Bunkers who voted against their own economic interests because of their racist disdain for minorities of all colors! And today we see them withering into the dust on vital programs for them like SOcial security and Medicare because of their hateful 40 year crusade. But they are pigheaded, racist TeaBaggers to the very end! Either way, that hateful old Democratic majority created the GOP governing dynasty of the last 40 years. It so utterly failed the nation that it ultimately led to the disastrous Bus/Cheney/Frist/Gingrich/Hastert/Rehnquist meltdown and election of Barack Obama!
And of course, let's not leave out the KKK, American Nazi Party, John Birch Society, Moral Majority, George Wallace's American Independent Party, Strom Thurmond's Dixiecrats, Posse Commatatus & other rural racist militias that call themselves the modern GOP. When you add the conservative, Evangelical, Christian Right Wing Bigots to the stew it gives this political witches cauldron a wicked moral imperative! I'm talking about you Pat Robertson, Haggee, Perry Stone, Tony Perkins, Jerry Falwell, mega church/business movement, et al. They couldn't be further away from the truth and actual teachings of Jesus and the meaning of his life. They are wicked political evildoers from the "Synagogue of Satan", if anything. While shamelessly twisting, perverting and proselytizing the truth of Jesus, they have become the very Anti-Christs they fear most! They espouse nothing but hatred, intolerance, greed, selfishness, favor to the rich and privileged and racism. In other words the opposite and anti-thesis of the real Jesus. They are no different than the most conservative and bigoted, Islamic, Mullahs, Pagans and Zionists in other cultures. It's even interesting that the most conservative and bigoted elements from those other religious cultures indentify themselves with Republicans in the USA. You do your own homewwork before condemning others. Hypocrites!
The truth is your Republican Party is racist, evil and wicked! It is the remnant of the old Democratic Southern Majority as you correctly stated. And its real roots are the American Confederate Party. It is spritually descended from ancient tribal forces that collapsed every single civilization in man's past. Man's enlightened, progressive march into the future has always come over the violent objection of racist, bigoted, ignorant conservative Tories from within. You GOP folks aren't Patriots either. You only believe in the Constitution as it relates to YOU! In reality conservatives in 1776 fought with the British. ANd you would have been with them if you actually lived during those times. No way would you have joined the rebellious progressives of that time, who forged this nation to evolve.
http://www.truth-out.org/crackpot-anti-islam-activists-serial-fabricators-and-tale-iran-and-911/1325172724' this is what scares me about your comment"Being in lock step is about principle and about honor".
Johnny,
you make the same tired assertion that all libbies make: "well I know my party has a history of MASSIVE racism for decades upon decades, but really, I promise, all those racists switched to the Republican party during Johnson's tenure." LOL!!! Grasping at straws there, Johnny. Hmmm, I see mentioned the KKK. Interesting to note that Democrats, after failing to keep slavery alive when REPUBLICAN Abe Lincoln ended it, adopted the KKK as their militant wing. There were over 40 democrats in Congress during the early 1900s that were also official members of the KKK. They created Jim Crow laws, separate but equal. The Democrats then actively fought against and filibustered (Al Gore Sr) the 1964 Civil Rights Act, but failed to kill the REPUBLICAN bill. Democrats also continued to elect, FOR DECADES, Robert Byrd, who in the KKK for years. Here is Robert Byrd, DEMOCRAT in Congress until a few years ago when he died: " I would rather watch Old Glory trampled a thousand times in the dirt than fight beside this mongrel race."-- Speaking about blacks fighting in WWII. Democrats went on to elect him for DECADES. So, yeah Johnny, sure, all those people are just Republicans now....LOL! FAIL. Talk about wicked and evil!
Democrats base their votes on what they can give to people, handouts. Talk about wicked and evil. Democrats like to keep the black man down, same with Latinos and whites, just so they can give them more entitlements and create generation after generation of dependent persons that will ALWAYS give their vote to the Democrat party, because they give them the most free stuff. People learn, generation after generation, that the government provides them with food and housing. Then, when the country gets in extreme economic times, and the Repubs want to reign in this lazy attitude and make cuts, the Democrats demonize the Repubs by saying that they are trying to take food off the poor man's table. See how it works? You Democrats are slick, TALK ABOUT WICKED AND EVIL.Its easy to see why you like to keep people poor. But, look at what this has done over decades of poverty. NOTHING. Blacks, Latinos, and whites in the South are all WORSE off. Poverty rates have not gone down, they have gone UP.
You obviously have never read the Constitution, either. Nowhere does it say that people are entitled to ANYTHING. All you get is the pursuit of happiness, not have your happiness handed to you by hardworking taxpayers.
Now, go poop in a park, live in a tent, assault cops, do drugs, rape women, and bang on the drums while making incoherent demands about how unfair this country is...Later, racist. LOL!
@Roanoke1:
And you keep making the same tired comment. While ignoring the fact that in the 1960's-1980's almost 100% of the factions you mentioned became Republicans. While people who would erstwhile be moderate Republicans became Democrats. You just can't stand looking at your true self in the mirror. And I understand why. It isn't pretty (meaning your Party affiliation). You have to constantly infuse your real beliefs and logic with a blizzard of "free market" lies to give legs to your hellish affiliations with pure haters. Sure some of those folks have been "White Democrat domestic terrorists" in the past. That is the point Dude. They are now "White Republican domestic terrorists". And they are ruining your parade now. The Modern GOP is undisputably the modern Confederacy or Fourth Reich! Talk about irony. The Democratic Party actually evolved into the Party representing 100% of American culture. As opposed to the now segregated "Whites Only" exclusive club/cult masquerading as the Historic GOP of the 1800's. Your entire narrative fails to acknowledge truth of this unbelievable metamorhosis. Because you are obviously a part of it. Or you are in serious denial about it.
Unfortunately, persecuted minorities have to live with the naked truth of this hateful reality, everyday of the year, on a 24/7 basis. Sure there are a few shuffling, ignorant "Uncle Tom" negroes like Clarence Thomas, Herman Cain, Thomsa Sewell, who adopt the robes of their persecutors. But they are nothing more than modern day Dathan's. Who sold out Moses and the Jews of antiquity to Pharoah. They represent the tiniest minority within their own people. The only part of your argument that has legs is this assumption. Before the civil rights era, 90% of African Americans affiliated with Republicans and voted for them (when allowed to vote). Afterwards, 96% became Democrats when the GOP cozied up with their historic persecutors. This metamorphosis was orchestrated by cynical GOP planners who sought to control, focus and direct the civil rights hatred and backlash to their benefit.
At some point in the not so distant future, the GOP will rid itself of those rogue, hateful elements. And it will credibly compete for growing Minority middle class voters. But it won't get them until it publicly repudiates the destructive forces within the Party. It may lose several elections to achieve this like the Democrats had to do after the civil rights era. But in time, the old GOP philosophy of limited Government intrusion in business and private lives will appeal to many people who loathe the party today.
No, minorities used to work for a living. That is why in the first half of the century, blacks all voted Republican. But then Democrat rule became the norm, and Democrats realized that they could earn the votes of all minorities by giving them entitlements. This started the entitlement era, from FDR to Johnson. Minorities became used to social programs that provided them with everything they needed to get by. Again, I made this point several times, it became, and still is, a generational thing. Democrats learned that they can create generation after generation of entitled people who will always give them their votes as long as they provide them with what they need to survive (on the hardworking taxpayers' dime). Democrats are so racist that they actually use skin color and entitlements to keep them in power. All the while, they have labeled the Repub party as racist, and the big three news channels and liberal publications for the last thirty years spewed the same hate, and minorities bought it. The fact of the matter is that Republicans freed slaves and gave blacks equality in the 60s, ALL AGAINST THE DEMOCRAT PARTIES' WISHES. Your silly claims of a metamorphosis is just that, AN UNFOUNDED CLAIM.
Also, your racism is on full display when you refer to African Americans as "negroes" above and call them Uncle Toms for believing in less government and fiscal responsiblity. You sir, are what is wrong with this country.
http://americaneconomicalert.org/view_art.asp?Prod_ID=5043, perhaps you can explain why Bonehead will not let this legislation come to the floor,it is non-partisian and signed-on by a majority of the House, and passed the Senate, or has Bonehead put his own "Being in lock step is about principle and about honor"ahead of the consensus of the Representatives of the People.
Priciples are nothing unless you work for them,Parrot.
And rhetoric, is nothing unless you have facts, not generalities and innuendo to back them up. Spin Baby Spin.
here is another recent read on the trust in U.S. Treasury Bills, http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-12-26/obama-wins-most-demand-for-debt-of-u-s-presidents-since-before-first-bush.html?wpisrc=nl_wonk.
Again this diffuses the rhetoric, "we can't afford this government". Funny with the austerity measures Europe's conservatice governments have put in action, our Dollar, the Federal Reserve bank has to bail them out, with $17 trillion in loans. The euro is taking a dive, and all big money is being invested in U.S. Treasury's for up to ten years. How will your rhetoric account for this economic reality, parrot.

Bob hates black people.
Here is a interesting read, on the past head of the Federal Reserve Board, during Pres. Nixon's term,
"Burns served as Fed Chairman from February 1970 until the end of January 1978. He has a reputation of having been overly influenced by political pressure in his monetary policy decisions during his time as Chairman[2] and for supporting the policy, widely accepted in political and economic circles at the time, that Fed action should try to maintain an unemployment rate of around 4 percent.[3] (See also: Phillips curve)
When Vice President Richard M. Nixon was running for President in 1959–1960, the Fed, under the Truman-appointed William McChesney Martin, Jr., was undertaking a monetary tightening policy that resulted in a recession in April 1960.[further explanation needed] In his book Six Crises, Nixon later blamed his defeat in 1960 in part on Fed policy and the resulting tight credit conditions and slow growth. After finally winning the presidential election of 1968, Nixon named Burns to the Fed Chairmanship in 1970 with instructions to ensure easy access to credit when Nixon was running for reelection in 1972.[2]
Later, when Burns resisted, negative press about him was planted in newspapers and, under the threat of legislation to dilute the Fed's influence, Burns and other Governors succumbed.[4][5] Burns' relationship with Nixon was often rocky. Reflecting in his diary about a 1971 meeting attended by himself, Nixon, Treasury Secretary John Connally, the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors, and the Director of the Bureau of the Budget, Burns wrote:
“
The President looked wild; talked like a desperate man; fulminated with hatred against the press; took some of us to task — apparently meaning me or [chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors, Paul] McCraken or both — for not putting a gay and optimistic face on every piece of economic news, however discouraging; propounded the theory that confidence can be best generated by appearing confident and coloring, if need be, the news.[1]"

Read and analyze this, than debate.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/cifamerica/2011/dec/23/john-boehner-tea-party-stooge, one more opinion.
LoL, I have to quote this from the link above, "Having put a gun to the head of the economy several times unless millionaires kept their tax cuts, this time Boehner was holding middle-class families hostage and threatening them with tax hikes unless … and there was the problem. No one really understood what he wanted – apart from to have his own way. It was not until he found himself in the crosshairs of the entire political class that he realized he'd already shot himself in the foot."
No Bob, you spew more lies.
Boehner and repubs wanted the extension for 12 months, fool. Read and learn before making yourself loook so misled. Democrats held the country hostage over the silly two month extension, so Repubs finally caved, they had to, and the Repubs didnt want to increase taxes on Americans and they knew the Dems wouldnt budge and would excoriate them in the media, and now we get to watch them do it all over again 8 weeks from now because you and the liberals are pathetic. And all the repubs wanted was some stability with the 12 month extension.
Its interesting to note that your wonderful plan cuts off one third of the funds to Social Security. At a time when America's largest population demographic, the baby boomers, will be retiring. So, you are speeding up the bankruptcy of SS, you are kicking the can down the road, because there is nothing to fill that financial void, and syphoning off one third of the funds is going to completely rape SS. All this to give a person earning $60,000 a year an extra $20 a week. STUPID. PATHETIC. With Dems, it's all about "how much can you give me now" and who cares about who is forced to pay for it later. Again, I know you never will, but go back and research FDRs comments on any future politician (OBAMA) who is pathetic enough to mess with his SS tax. LOL!!!
Nice try, Bob the Racist.
I'm waiting for a debate, not a arguement, Parrot. You forget the F.I.C.A. tax break was a one year plan, passed last year at Christmas.Look into how that happened than get back to me."Its interesting to note that your wonderful plan cuts off one third of the funds to Social Security", no it is interesting that you believe I am part of the"Plan", sounds a bit paranoid, and on a political note a lot like Nixon in the above link I provided.
"No Bob, you spew more lies.", and your point other than to be ignorant?
Bob, you seem to have a comprehension problem. Your previous posts were discussing how Boehner and the Repubs held the country hostage. I simply pointed out to you, while using the payroll tax as an example, of how you are spewing lies, as it was the Dems who held the country hostage...
And lets not forget, you mention last year, yeah, well it was OBAMA who signed extensions of the bush-tax cuts, not the Repubs. If Obama had balls he wouldnt have signed it...
Again , you personalise your responses outragously, as a good conservative will. But you lack substance, as in the F.IC.A. tax issue. The point is if the Dems. in Congress want any legislation to pass, they must compromise their policy, or the "step in line " Repugs. will not vote favorable, and limit the bill to a short extension. The Repugs are passing the buck, and placing the blame on the Dems., as I noted in another link above. This is their political agenda, as they have stated, pass nothing or make it short term.
Again, why will Bonner sit on a bill introduced by a Republican from Alabama, who I do not totally agree with in many issues, that was passed by a non -partisian Senate vote, and has been signed on by a majority of the House of Representatives? Can you site a appropriate counter proposal, or vote held up by the Dem. majority Senate, that has the been signed-on by a majority of the Senate ? Probable not, but you continue with the rhetoric, with no plausable links to the voting or action in the Congress.
Like I said your fear factor, will not go far in the opinion of most, as it is not proven in fact, links, but just what you say, and that is opinion.
Spin baby Spin, LOL, parrots only like sunflower seeds.
Bob, again, you seem to be very confused about things. Too much Kool-aid.
The fact is, the Democrats wanted a 2 month stop-gap extension. Do you dispute that, you don't seem to in your ramblings...but seem to imply this.
So, the Repubs wanted a 12 month extension, so employers and businesses and citizens could count on some stability for at least a year. Now, do you dispute that? Do you dispute that the impasse that the Repubs and Dems were at was NOT because of the length of time of the extension? Because if you do, you lose all credibility (not that you deserve any, based on your posts). That has been the lynch-pin of the entire debate. The Repubs didnt even get an assurance that the Keystone pipeline will be decided on before the election (so Obama can keep BOTH his flows of money from environmentalists AND big oil open until the election). Again, it was the Democrats that said that they were not going to budge from their position, and they would not even discuss making the extension for 12 months. They would sign nothing if the extension involved any length of time other than 2 months. That was the point. So, Repubs had to cave without really getting anything, just to avoid being the scapegoat for the raise at the first of the year (when all the while, it was the DEMOCRATS who were not willing to budge, it was the Democrats who held our country hostage).
Lie baby Lie, LOL, Boobie only likes running around in white sheets and burning crosses.
Bob, I know you would rather continue discussing the "payroll" tax cut and "obstructionism" with Roanoke, but I have 2 questions for you.
Do you know how that 2 month "payroll" taxcut extension, that is worth $160 to an average worker making $50,000 a year, will be paid for?
Are you as upset at Harry Reid, as you are at John Boehner, for not bringing legislation passed in the House to a vote in the Senate?
Happy New Year.
No Patriot,
the 20-sum BIPARTISAN jobs bills that have passed the House but have been refused to be heard by Reid in the Senate don't count. You see, as a typical liberal, Bob only sees things the way he wants to see them, through his narrow, pseudo-intellectual, counter-intuitive, hypocritical lens... So, in this case, Bob only wants to talk about Boehner, and just one bill, while selectively forgetting the many bills Harry Reid has refused...
Oh, its so fun to watch their heads spin...
Pat., here is a link to the payroll tax cut for 2011 and the link to the 2012 payroll tax cut.
No, I am not upset with Reid. Reid will not forward a bill to the floor that has no chance of passing in it's present form, than if no compromise is attained in Senate Commitee the bill dies, or is pushed back in the calander. Perhaps you can find a House passed bill, that has been signed on by a majority of the Senate members, and will not be filibustered, that Reid has not brought up to the floor for a vote? Good Luck.
Again, read this current link supported by a majority of both Repug. and Dems, with a majority, in the Senate and House, http://americaneconomicalert.org/view_art.asp?Prod_ID=5043. Bonner is appealing to the neo-cons, and Tea Party, and he will have egg on his face.
The Bill introduced and passed by the House is authored by a Republican Senate member, from Alabama, and has been sign-on by a majority of the House, Bonner at this time has no intention of bringing it up for a vote, as he is the House Majority Leader, the one who has the right of order for Bills to be introduced to the floor for a vote.
Parrot, just because some Blue-Dog, Dem.s and Repugs passed a bill in the House, will not prove that their is a majority of the Senate in agreement, if so show me were the Senate members signed-on to the bill in a majority.
http://americaneconomicalert.org/view_art.asp?Prod_ID=5043, also note this bill is supported by 20,000 manufacturing companys in our great nation.
Bob, You didn't answer my question about how that 2 month "payroll" taxcut extension will be paid for. If you know anything about the legislation passed by the Senate it will come of no surprise to you that for 2 months of reduced "payroll taxes" worth $160 to an average employee, anyone who takes out or refinances a $200,000 mortgage, sold to Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac for the next decaded, will pay about $11 a month more for their mortgage payment. That 2 month payroll tax extension translates into a cost increase of about $4,000 for a middle class homeowner on their 30 year mortgage.
Regarding my second question, IMO it is hypocritical to complain about John Boehner not bring a bill passed by the Senate to vote in the House and not expect Harry Reid to bring a bill passed by the House to vote in the Senate.
If it is"hypocritical" to state a fact, represented by a Letter to Bonner by one of his party, and passed in the Senate with a 64 vote yea, and signed- on by a majority of the House , and may soon have the vote to force a vote on the House floor, with Bonner's disapproval, them we have no cause to debate, only argue points back and forth. Parrot, made a accusation of Reid, yet can not back up your assertion with vote tally's and sign-ons. Both chambers have a long list of business, and to bring every bill to a floor vote is not part of the rules of order in both Chambers, unless the bill is brought their to kill it, pass it or to send it to commitee.
Yes, the mortgage tax was a compromise and a means to lower the cost of the F.I.C.A. tax cut. Other remedies were suggested by both party's, including raising the limit on income eligible for F.I.C.A. tax, and making those who collect unemployment take a drug test, among others these were not agreed upon by the Congress.
"the 20-sum BIPARTISAN jobs bills that have passed the House but have been refused to be heard by Reid in the Senate don't count", parrots quote will not make sense or be found true by Congressional vote, or sign-on, as will Bonner's denial of a vote on Mo's bill. Prove me wrong or stop the parrot talk, and spin baby, spin.
here is a link to the W.S.J.,http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204319004577088351573064644.html, it states both Repugs and Dems proposed the tax on mortgages, that is non-partisan.
hers is a link to your quote, Patriot, http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2011/12/to_keep_payroll_tax_low_mortga.html
Here is a interesting read, http://brucekrasting.blogspot.com/2011/12/latest-gimmick-to-fund-payroll-tax-cut.html, which pays for the tax-break with large Corporation tax liability.
The current law will tie our Social Security to funds directly from Freddie Mac and Fannie May, and will be much harder to defund or dis-band them. How will that fit your conservative agenda? Repugs. voted for the expansion of the power of Freddie and Fannie, live with it .
Patriot, your quote "Its interesting to note that your wonderful plan", can you please link us to my comment that states "my plan" as far as the F.I.C.A. tax cut? Or is your insecurity and paranoia showing?
Again, I ask for a rebuttal.
Here is another interesting read on the recent tax cut package, F.I.C.A. http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2011/12/30
I stand corrected on #1728, I was referring to the Parrot, and not Pat. sorry .
See if we can get John Kerry to join him. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Well now he can seeing as how he got his sell out bribe to vote for Obama care. Maybe he and Reid can find a place to retire together. Oh lordy.
Wasn't he one of the democrats that had to be bribed to get his vote for the health care bill even thought the polls showed that the people in his state were opposed to the bill.
He thought getting something extra for his state would change the minds of the people, evidently he was wrong.
Perhaps this should be a lesson for not only the politicians to listen to their constituents but for the constituents to send a message to their representatives that enough is enough; we don't send them to congress to horse trade increasing our debt. We send them there to make laws that are in the best interests of the country.
If you have to be bribed to get your vote you probably should not vote for it.
His fist bribe demand was that the federal government pay the full amount of Medicaid owed by Nebraska in exchange for his vote. A classic GOP move.
Right. He was on his way out ala Blanche Lincoln. Mary Landrieu will soon be joining them.
Landrieu is one of the most nauseating pigs I've ever seen.
Yes, he was bought off with money to his state or exemptions for his state and by letting him write language to keep the fed from funding abortions. As we know from Massachusetts care, you can write things out in this version only to have it written back in when more favorable political conditions exist.
the less Democrats, the better.
LMAO!!! Dem's are going to bail on obama in droves next year!!!!
LMAO!!! Dem's are going to bail on obama in droves next year!!!!
I suppose they might bail if the GOP had a legitimate candidate.
When given the choice Dems will be heading to the polls in droves to make sure one of the GOP asslickers aren't elected.
Won't happen this election, sorry. Last time Obama ran on a hatred platform against Bush and the Iraq war. He garnered 99% of the black vote, (racism at its core), an incredible number of black voted for the first time in years, numerous young voters wanted to just be part of history by putting a novelty act in office. That won't happen this time. Obama has not learned one thing in three years. He has no leadership skills. Our country has never been more divided over race, politics, class, and religion. I'm not enamored with any candidate, but throw a dart and you can't do any worse.
Now we can focus GOP money on getting rid of some other losers like Debbie Stabenow.
Being from Michigan, I second that.
Hoooray! Another one bites the dust. Congress knows that the American people view them all like a bad case of diareah. Hope all the Congressional hershey turds decide to drop into the toilet bowl.
Eagle Scout Ben had about as much chance of getting re-elected as I do of winning the Powerball Lottery.
He wasn't a bad Senator for Nebraska until he sided with Obama on the Cornhusker Kickback for Obamacare. That did him in as far as Nebraskans were concerned. They could over look many of his Liberal Democratic tendencies as long as he remained somewhat of a Blue Dog. After that bribery, it was all over for Ben.
From a personal perspective, he was about as exciting as Harry Reid.
Uh Gary...you're being ridiculous...your party of no can't even find a candidate...
AP...acutally its the party of KNOW. You need some new talking points leftard
self employed - Ben Nelson - one of three Democrats who signed the Grover Norquist Pledge - Priceless a picture of good ole' Ben sitting in the audience at one of Herman Cain's functions sponsored by the Koch Brothers - You won't be missed Ben
By the way all of your Republicans have signed Grover's pledge - how's that working for you?
