Gingrich doesn't qualify for Virginia ballot

After completing examination of the nominating petitions filed by Newt Gingrich, the Virginia GOP determined that Gingrich submitted fewer than the 10,000 signatures required, the party said in a press release.

Gingrich has failed to qualify for the ballot and will not be included in the state's March 6 primary.

You really have to wonder how serious he really was running for the presidency. This is ridiculous.

Gingrich (a Virginia resident) and Perry fail to get their names on the primary ballot in Virginia.

Only 10,000 signatures were needed. In just 4 weeks the people of Wisconsin have gathered over 500,000 signatures in their quest to recall Scott Walker.

Gingrich Campaign Director Michael Krull: "Only a failed system excludes four out of the six major candidates seeking access to the ballot. Voters deserve the right to vote for any top contender, especially leading candidates. We will work with the Republican Party of Virginia to pursue an aggressive write-in campaign to make sure that all the voters of Virginia are able to vote for the candidate of their choice."

There is a small problem with this strategy, though. Write-ins for primary elections are illegal, according to Virginia state code. Thus, it appears that if Gingrich heads to the polls in his home state’s primaries on March 6, he would have to vote for someone else.

This is too funny--the TPGOP is trying to disenfranchise voters--now four out of their six "major candidates" on the primary ballot in Virginia are disenfranchised from being on the ballot! What a hoot! What goes around, comes around!

Good post Dennis. He wants to oversee our military and take a stand on world affairs, yet can't even get his act together long enough to make sure something this simple was done. He's all talk and is wasting everybody's time. I sure hope no one is contributing to his campaign.

Zero credibility.

Pat,

I really don't think he is serious, he wasn't when he first declared, he was shocked when he jumped into first place in Iowa.

But to blow you registration in your home state.

Your right ZERO CREDIBILITY!!!!

I don't think there's any question that Gingrich never intended to actually run for President, he just wanted to boost the brand of Newtco. Newtco can't stand much close examination of the brand, but a cursory run would do the job.

Then something unexpected happened...a Christmas miracle for Liberals of Newt as front runner! Needless to say Newtco will STILL be damaged as a brand in the process, but once Newton smelled blood in the water his true nature as a shark came through.

The Gingrinch himself has delivered the best Christmas present of all. The gift of Republicans turning on each other, damaging the entire Conservative movement in the process.

Two things are certain: Somebody got fired today and Ron Paul will come in ahead of both Gingrich, Perry and the rest in Virgina. Gingrich, who lives in McLean, Virgina can't even properly manage to get on the ballot, and that conceited wind-bag wants to run the country?

Here Newt is being highly critical of Ron Paul's mistake of inadequately monitoring his newsletter---which happened years ago---meanwhile Newt can't even keep his campaign on track. Hey Newt, are you and your people really going to shift the blame of your failure to Virgina? Newt, you'll never be half the man that RP or Gary Johnson are.

Frankly, I've never seen fielded by the Republican party such a sorry bunch of candidates. I don't count Paul as a Republican, because he's really a libertarian like Gary Johnson. Ron Paul, including all his imperfections, is the better man out of all the other Republican candidates. The Neocon welfare-warfare machine---including MSM--- will come down on Ron Paul with both feet if he wins Iowa and poses a threat in New Hampshire.

All of you RP supporters better be ready for the nastiest fight that you've ever been in. This fight is going to come down to Romney the RINO-vs-Paul the Libertarian.

Ludwig,

I've been saying it for weeks now. The republicans need to get behind Dr Paul if they want to win.

Dr. Paul just wants to destroy our country for the rich. Paul talks a good story but then always votes for the 1% just like the rest of the republicans.

Now Ron Paul acts like he wasn't one of the republicans that voted to create our huge deficit. First you vote to create the deficit and then you act like it was somebody else fault. Just like every other republican that voted for tax cuts during war time.

Just so you understand what I am saying, Ron Paul voted himself to create the debt with tax cuts during war time that was so popular with all the republicans. These are the people who are responsible for the large deficit we have today. You know the ones that want to fix everything with cuts only and refuse to ask the rich to invest in their own country.

Ron Paul along with the rest of the republicans voted for the deficit but think the poor should pay for it. No Dr. Paul will not being getting my vote nor will I be silent about his pretending to care about anybody but himself.

Ron Paul is a libertarian, he has never hidden that fact. Libertarians are anti tax, that's a well known fact. One of Dr Paul's campaign planks is that he has never voted for a tax increase, in other words it's one of the things he brags about. Also it's one of the most likeable aspects of his platform. His platform is one of Cut first, cut first, cut first, etc, etc, you get the message?

Thank you for repeating his position and promoting Dr Paul, I couldn't have said it better myself.

Whether you like him or not, again, thank you for helping us out!

Sort of puts the whole "I'M going to be the nominee" brag in perspective doesn't it. Maybe if signing books by him and his wife did not consume so much of his time, he could have made more of an effort in regard to assuring timely primary filing.

Newts is it for Newt, win lose or draw, Newt is making money for Newt.

I was surprised when Cains downfall took 4 days and Newts rise happened at the same time. It seems faith for most of these candidates is as fleeting as a breeze. Seeing now that Obama was nothing more than a well sold emptybag of dreams, it amazes me the 'chicken in every pot' still still gets any attention.

Hopefully people will see the writing on the wall whereby the Fed and Banks are the only thing propping up America, not infrastructure, not sound money, not reliable investment, buta war machine. Without war this country has nothing to impress the rest of the world.

No amount of "Financial specialties" make the USA special, only the wasted tax dollar on dominating the world to make them dependent on the US dollar as the currency of choice.

Yet I have hopes of seeing the Country lead again, only not from the working end of a gun barrel but from a productive base, From a free people espousing not the bastardized 'Democracy' but from freedom from tyranny of Banks with pure Fiat currency as the tool of labor/wage slavery.

Newt should have consulted with Hillary and Obama to find out how they did it in Indiana in 2008.

Oh......right.......voter fraud. That thing the Democrats claim doesn't exist.

The incidence of voter fraud is roughly the same as that of people dying from lighting strikes, a frequent metaphor for an extremely unlikely event.

You are 100% correct this time Doug there is nothing to claims of voter fraud. It is a made up talking point by people that want any excuse to suppress the access to vote.

But shouldn’t we be doing everything possible to make it easier to vote, not harder?

Many of the expansions like no excuse to be able to file absentee were done to save the State money and cut down the long lines at the polls. With the expansion of availability to vote the percentage of Registered Voters casting votes has gone up – is that a good or bad thing?

True Americans should be finding ways to expand access to vote not ways to restrict it. Only people that do not believe in true democracy would want to restrict people’s right to choose our leaders.

About a dozen states are actively considering legislation that would make voting much more difficult for college students, minorities, the elderly and the disabled. In some states, like Ohio, it is estimated that close to one million people would be affected by these changes.
