BLOOMFIELD, Iowa -- Michele Bachmann’s 99-county bus tour reached the eight-day mark Friday, and the candidate was losing her voice. In a whisper she circulated tables at the Oasis Coffee House, greeting voters, autographing yard signs and posing for photos.
While the grueling schedule left Bachmann quieter than usual, a group of surrogates raised the volume this week on a message the campaign hopes will resonate among Iowa’s evangelical voters, in the run-up to the Jan. 3 caucus.
“Do you know that the qualifications for public office are found in the Bible?” asked Danny Carroll, a former state representative, during a visit to a restaurant in Albia on Thursday.
Carroll was citing a passage in Exodus in which Moses is counseled to trust those who "feared God, were capable, and hated dishonest gain."
“I believe that Michele Bachmann fits all of those qualifications,” he added.
Carroll, who has supported Bachmann since the summer, has hosted her at his farm in Grinnell – but had rarely joined her for public events around the state. His presence, the campaign says, sends a signal to Iowan social conservatives.
“He has a tremendous amount of credibility in that state, and people look to his opinion,” says campaign spokeswoman Alice Stewart.
After a 12-year career in the Iowa statehouse, Carroll was chairman of the board of the Iowa Family Policy Center, a group that was later spun into the Family Leader, one of Iowa’s most high-profile evangelical groups.
Carroll's message seems designed in part to punch back at the Family Leader's current CEO, Bob Vander Plaats, who earlier this week endorsed one of Bachmann's chief rivals for the evangelical vote: Rick Santorum.
The endorsement directed unwelcome attention on the Bachmann campaign, after Politico reported that Vander Plaats had tried to influence the race more directly, by calling Bachmann to urge her to drop out.
Bachmann acknowledges the call happened, but disputes the account of the discussion. (A source close to the telephone call tells NBC News that Vander Plaats called to ask that she merge her ticket with Santorum, or with Rick Perry. Bachmann, according to the source, declined.)
Since the endorsement, the Bachmann camp’s pushback has been polite but sharp.
A second surrogate, Tamara Scott – the Iowa director of a conservative women's group, Concerned Women for America – called out the Family Leader and Santorum by name Thursday, during a stop in Ottumwa.
"The Iowa Family Leader had a series of meetings, and the papers said it was to make sure [Mitt] Romney was not the nominee," Scott said.
"Bob Vander Plaats turned around and endorsed Santorum, who had endorsed Romney in the last election. I just don’t understand those kinds of politics," Scott said.
In an interview with NBC, Scott stressed that she is not speaking on behalf of Concerned Women for America, and added that Bachmann was the only candidate she felt comfortable endorsing.
“Her integrity is intact,” Scott said.
The effect of the campaign’s effort is unclear so far, but the bus tour itself has seemed to win points in rural counties. Voters in small restaurants and bakeries often said they appreciated Bachmann’s attention.
“She stands for Iowa,” said caucus-goer Kay Rouch, in Keosauqua, on Wednesday. “This is where her roots are, her beginnings, and I think that she basically has a real concern for the people in the Midwest.”

Oh, and one more point. Several months ago Republicans started circulating a rumor that Muslims had put Michigan under Sharia law. While they were starting this lie, Michigan's Republican Governor and Legislature were passing the "Emergency manager" law, which allows one person, appointed by the Governor, to completely disband city governments, fire all ELECTED officials and render elections void.
Things that make you go hmmmmm?
Well... Christian theocracy is a "family friendly" theocracy, har har.
What I'm seeing is a group trying to de-evolve the United States.
The reason our founding fathers decided that religion was supposed to stay seperate from politics is because in their history they had had to deal with the Catholic church trying to dictate the affairs of state. At that point in time, the politicians were the clerics and if you did not believe in the dogma of their church, your whole estate could wind up in the churches coffers, and you could be tortured, put to death, etc. Do any of you remember the history of the Inquisition?!
As not one person on this planet can prove, with hard evidence, the existence of a heaven or a hell or even of a God, it is reasonable that the laws governing a country should be based solely on facts, since not everyone sees God the same way. That's why they're called beliefs. Since it cannot be proven one way or the other, our founding fathers wanted to build a nation that allowed every individual the opportunity to have their own belief, and no one religious dogma could force everybody to live by their rules. Look at middle east countries and sharia law if you have any doubt of the wisdom of their choice.
It is also entirely against the constitution for religious leaders to be speaking about politics from the pulpit, just as it is unconstitutional for the government to get involved with religious teachings, and every time these groups band together to force the whole country to live and function according to their dogmatic standards, they are violating my (and your) constitutional rights and freedom of choice. If that's the way they want to believe, that's fine, but leave me to choose how I want to believe in God. It is, quite frankly, none of your damned business, just as it is none of mine how anybody else chooses to see God. That's what our founding fathers wanted for this country.
As far as I'm concerned, a person's belief in, and relationship with, the divine should be more private than their sex life! I don't care who sleeps with whom, and I don't care how, or even if, a politician believes; as long as they grant me that same freedom of choice, and don't try to force me to live the way their religion dictates. So, for all the evangelicals et al, I have two words: Prove it. With hard science and indisputable facts, and if you can't then shut up and keep it to yourself, thank you very much.
Elizabeth - you really have no understanding about history, the Constitution, religion or politics. Whatever beliefs you may have, they need to be based on some foundation of fact. Your 4 paragraphs indicate that you don't have any clear beliefs, and your knowledge of American history is quite limited. Since when is it unconstitutional for a church leader to speak about politics from a pulpit (I assume you mean a church pulpit)? Our founding fathers wanted religious freedom, and today, religious freedom in this country is slipping away. If we are going to retain religious freedom in this country, we must not hide our beliefs behind the guise of "tolerance." I am so tired of radicals trying to dictate how or when I can express my Christian beliefs.
It is Christian extremists who demand that those of another faith bow and kneel to theirs. If church leaders want to preach politics from their pulpits, that's OK, but then they have to pay property taxes like everyone else. What scares me off is fundamentalists of any religion.
Hey Michele, here's a news flash-it's the 21st century!! We don't want to hear about religion and the childish fairy tales it spreads. We are in the dawning of our awakening, finding earthlike planets for the first time, unlocking the mysteries of our Universe from the quantum to the galactic scale. We now have OPEN MINDS! We do not want the simplified version anymore. My software has to be updated every two months, why do I have to believe the first thing everyone came up with when it comes to creation and everlasting life? Get a clue. You say it's your beliefs? Keep them to yourself you're way behind.
Elizabeth, first of all, have you ever heard of King Henry VIII? England had not been Catholic for about a century, long before the Founding Fathers were even born, before the Constitution was drafted. What the Founding Fathers DO remember however is the Protestant Puritans being allowed to get into politics and starting the English Civil War. From the very beginning of Christianity ALL Christian Cults have tried to use politics to seize control. For most of the history of Western Europe it has been the entirety of Christianity, not just the Vatican, who controlled using violence and murder to keep it. The entire point of both Christianity and Islam is the control the entire world in the name of their "God". Literally billions have been killed, tortured and maimed by the various churches. Try reading the writings of most of the Founding Fathers. They do NOT separate Catholicism and Protestantism. They say "Religion" and the Church. In fact I HAVE read them and do not remember any of them even using the worlds Catholic, Vatican or Rome.
Oh, and by the way. Prior to 1776 there were NO politicians, clerical or otherwise. You had the Royal Family, the nobility, merchant classes and the poor. That is it. So who were these Clerical "rulers" or politicians you are talking about? The King was not a cleric, he was king. This is what the Churches have always done. They get into the Royal House and control behind the scenes, just like they have been doing in the US since 1980.
Michele-check out the Johnson amendment ;)
I know this may be difficult, but I for one would be greatly indebted if all registered voters cast their ballots with their brains and not their bibles.
Let's pretend for a moment ...
A candidate comes along that is very smart, articulate, and address problems with solutions and explanations. This candidate has a proven record both in business and government of being fair, impartial, and highly effective. Nine out of ten people asked believe this person would do an above average job as president.
Then this person states they do not believe in god and religion is a myth.
What do you think the chances are of this candidate being elected once that comment is made?
“Do you know that the qualifications for public office are found in the Bible?”
We have enough problems in politics without adding religious nuts to the mix.
Radical evangelicals would be as bad as the ayatollahs in Iran.
I wonder how the evangelicals feel about born again Christian fundamentalist George W Bush now. He killed a lot of Muslums but didn't get around to attacking Iran because Iraq didn't go very well. I guess any of the republican candidates except Ron Paul would get the bombing started in Iran.
Of mr grover's puppet candidates, michele should appeal to those voters who don't care about the facts or the truth. Religious people might fit into that category. More into spiritual things, never mind the materialistic facts. Like crusaders, it's ok to invade the wrong country.
I'd hardly call Michelle Bachmann "spiritual". You can't have a soul consumed by hate and fear and still be spiritual.
"Carroll, who has supported Bachmann since the summer ... His presence, the campaign says, sends a signal to Iowan social conservatives."
Maybe the message was that he has gas.
Dear wife of a closeted homosexual,
To quote Walter Matthau: Do the world a favor, pull your lip over your head and swallow.
Regards,
The 99%
She is still running? Why?
evangelicals are just american taliban, without the violence
Tell that to abortion doctors, Oklahoma City.... You can't be wrong if you're doing Gods work.
Perry's an evangelical. I'd say his history of death penalties in Texas is pretty violent.
Decades ago, Robert A Heinlein, one of the premiere science fiction writers of all time, wrote a "future history" in which the USA becomes a theocracy, and he details how individual freedoms are constrained and eliminated bit by bit (sound familiar?). The processes and widespread thinking in our country now are much too eerily close to Heinlein's prediction. If you want a taste of what we're in for if any of these "godly" folks are elected President of the USA, read Heinlein. It'll make you sweat.
I'm atheist. Anyone who quotes the bible (aka book of myths) as a standard to be met or followed scares the (nonexistent) hell out of me.
The only people crazy enough to actually vote for her. Good play Bachmann, good play. Or I should say, good play people telling Bachmann what to do and say.
I really wonder if Moses would consider Michelle Bachmann "capable". She seems to be against a lot of God's children - doesn't want to help children after they are out of the womb, doesn't want to help Muslims (doesn't seem to even want them around). Her "people" even don't seem to like Mormons - makes me wonder why Mormons would even consider voting Republican when the GOP has done everything it can to avoid Romney, but may end up with him by default because the Bachmann's, Cain's, Trump's, Perry's, Gingrich's have not proved "capable".
Tell me, Michelle, what does "waterboarding" have to do with "family values." What could be more "pro-life" than peace. Why is Ron Paul's foreign policy toward a "nuclear Iran" dangerous when it is EXACTLY the same policy George W. Bush practiced, going so far as to deny Israel access to Iraq's air space to attack Iran's nuclear facilities? Oh, and while we are at it, what does the Patriot Act's infringements on the Bill of Rights have to do with "...support and defend the Constitution?" You are reckless, Michelle.
Whoever the Evangelicals vote for is who I will not vote for.
Have you heard some of the thing those folks believe in? If you have then you don't have to question my decission.
Fundamentalists of every kind are dangerous and illogical. The Christians are just as Dangerous as the Islamist.
No they're not. Stupid comment. Yet oft-repeated by liberals.
Let's see the anti-abortion bombers of a couple decades ago killed 4 people total?
And radical Islamist whackjobs have murdered 100,000 or more innocent people on purpose, in cold blood, in the last decade including 3,000 + here, most recently at Fort Hood.
No comparison between Islamists and radicals of Buddhism, Christianity, Mormonism or any other religion.
The Islamist nutjobs are far and away the worst, by a bloody stack of bodies a mile high.
Chesty if you take a historical look at all those religions the Islamists have a long way to go to catch up with the Christians in the murder and mayhem department.
So, maybe Bachmann is a little 'crazy' for your taste. Who else is there? Santorm? Whacked. Newt? He's lied to two wives and who knows how many, what's the word? Whores. Why would he tell me the truth about anything. Huckabee? Seems nice, until he starts talking about the Bible. Perry? He's a retard. He said last week that he Marcellus Shale deposit had just been discovered ten years ago. Apparently they don't believe in the theory of geology in Texas, either.
All the republicans need to do is come up with one sane, intelligent candidate and the White House is theirs. But they REFUSE to. Why? WHY? They must be doing this intentionally. We all want Obama gone.
Why won't the republican party come up with one viable candidate?
Only people interested in the job are the ones that already know the game. There are no honest men interested in the job. Watch the fear at the Conventions when there are more people on the streets than in the Convention hall. We may get the kind of government we deserve after that if they are afraid of us.
Unless they are afraid of us they will keep doing the same thing, fleecing America and selling our birthright to the highest bidders.
Well Pishaw it's pretty simple, they are politicians, therefore liars. They promise the people who vote for them things and do things for people who give them money. Here's another clue- there are really not two parties, it is the people with a lot of money, more than you and I can imagine, manipulating things so they can keep said money. I would imagine having that much money is the same addiction/game as any other obsession us ordinary people have, I wouldn't know. The reason the Rep party is full of such goofy candidates is because these people want to keep Obama in power because, if you haven't noticed, right now they are raping us clean. Now if you were them what would you do?
Your government brainwashes you with nationalism and religion.
You get what you deserve...
It's a Christmas Miracle! Something that could shut Bachmann up.....
LOL...
I am a Christian and a Republican - however, I don't consider myself to be an evangelical. What I want to see is an end to the destruction of this nation with the policies and politics of Obama, Reid & Pelosi. I am tired of the Democratic platform that insists the rich are evil, and encourages entitlement programs in order to maintain control.
I want a president who is a leader domestically and internationally, a president who is qualified to hold the office, a president who encourages everyone to become the master of their own destiny and not be dependent on the government to take care of them. Obviously Obama does not fill this criteria - and he never did. Maybe his incredibly dismal record over the past 4 years will wake-up the nation!
Michele,
I would like you to give me examples of his dismal record:
1. As a woman, I now earn the same as my male counterparts because of Lilly Ledbetter law of equal pay
2. As a woman, I don't pay more in health insurance because of that fact due to the health insurance reform act
3. As a consumer, credit card companies won't raise my rates or fleece me because of the Consumer Protection Act
4. As a black farmer, I get equal access to subsidies, loans etc
5. As an American, we've seen the worst war end.
6. As an American, we've seen the second worst war almost to an end in Afghanistan
7. As an American, I've seen the country pulled from the brink where we were seeing companies go bankrupt left and right, see companies purge their workforces and fuel unemployment by the millions every month
8. I have lived to see Osama Bin Laden taken out along with about 22 high ranking Al Qaeda leaders
9. What have we seen from the republican majority in the house? A reaffirmation that In God We Trust is the motto, which was not challenged, SEVEN abortion bills, earmarks, and pork, a botched reading of the constitution, and a vote on the bust of Winston Churchill, a man who died long time ago and has no bearing to the current state of events, cancelling SCHIP, program for children and tax cuts for the wealthy, and with ABSOLUTELY NO JOB CREATING BILLS AT ALL IN OVER A YEAR!!!! Obama is a better president than any of the contenders EVER WILL BE!!! All with thinking about creating jobs and helping those who cannot help themselves. You just talk about his abysmal record and you don't provide examples. The Bachmann ilk want to FORCE this notion of Christianity down everybody's throats. I for one do not want to go to a heaven where it is guaranteed for Jews and Israelites and the rest have to fight for it and god may take your chance to reside there over a lie!!!! Pshaw!!! They can keep it!!!
michele, you state you want everyone to be the master of their own destiny and not be dependent on the government. First, you will need your "rich" friends to create the jobs they sent overseas. People can and will take care of themselves when they have the opportunity to work for their families. You say you are a Christian but the Bible says there will always be poor people and they need to be taken care of.
President Obama has done more to bring this country back from the blink of another great depression with his knowledge and forsight. Please remember, it was not this President to take the country to the edge. It was the Republican party and it has been the Republican Party that has kept this country there for nearly a year.
Michele, if you were honest with yourself you would know that it was not President Obama that brought this country's almost downfall, it was the ones you and others like you voted in 2000 and 2004 and the ones you voted in 2010.
Nobody gets more entitlements than the rich.
Rebbie33....
As an American i see obama traveling the world and apologizing for its greatness
As an American i see obama with friends as Bill Ayres and the communists he made into his personal Czars.
As an American I see obamas wife make statements like "for the first time in my life im proud of my country" and then turn around and ask obama at a flag cerimony why its such a big deal, after all its just a flag.
As an American i see this president expanding his entitlement base at the expense of more and more debt that has bankrupted us.
As an American i see a president that sat in an anti American Rev Wrights church "not God bless America, but God Damn America" for 20 yrs and claim he never hears anything.
As an American i see a president that constantly lies and befuddles his ignorant voting base that does not work and gets them riled up with the Class Warfare agenda he has started.
As an American i see a president that accepts zero blame of anything he has done and he thinks himself right up there with Lincoln as one of the best presidents ever, even though he has divided the coutnry and spent us into bankruptcy
As an American i see a president that gave money to his buddies in the unions and called it a "stimulus package" which will be turned right around and be donated to the democrat party
This is what i see, now as you are a Black American i know you see everything in a different light because all you care about is the color of obamas skin and that is the biggest reason that 97% of blacks voted for obama, but most never had a clue of his platform or his agenda, except they thought they would get "free stuff" because he was one of their own.... disgusting is what this is.
Bachmann is not as smart as Gingrich and does make false statements from time to time (including about Newtie), but I support her for president of the United States because:
she has been certified 99.44% ideologically pure and is the only Republican who will deport all illegals.
Now, Bachmann evangelicals, go forth and multiply, in time for the primary voting season. Pull a Duggar family move--they're evangelical too---.
(Also, this move makes me immune to any claims of sexism/misogyny attacks going forward, having supported a woman as the best candidate for president in the year of our Lord 2012)
Yikes! I bet you are one of those idiots stockipiling for the "End of days" LOL! Hey, guess what, we're all gonna die, only thing is, if we don't all do it on 12/21/2012 then what will you say? Oh, I know, WAIT FOR IT! JUST WAIT FOR IT!
If these empty headed fools support her husbands scam of pray the gay away...what makes us think they would suddenly have the brain power to stay away from her. No one friendlier than the good christian who waits until you contribute or vote to stab you in the back.
Yes, cure those fruits of their evil ways. We've found no gay gene or what scientists say is more probable if it is genetic, a group of genes causing someone to be gay, so homosexuality remains immoral.
Homos: Yes You Can! Have a good time screwing a woman.
Sorry i mentioned empty headed fools....one just popped up
Chesty,
Just because the scientists have not found the gene doesn't mean it doesn't exist. That's flawed logic...I cannot see what's in the other room, so it must not exist. There are 450 species of animals that have been found with homosexual tendencies and scientists are still studying these phenomena. You must not be a scientist. Luckily there are many of us who are.
Rebel, well actually the problem is that lefties like you are acting as though the gene does exist and you're running way out ahead of the proven scientific facts, calling anyone hateful who still thinks its wrong.
That's the problem.
The status quo based on instinct, conscience, and religious teaching before you lie-berals invented the "born gay" mythology was that homosexuality was wrong.
The status quo should remain in effect until we find gay genes and can predict when a baby based on its genes will be queer with 99% reliability...which will never happen of course.
The so-called animal examples represent less than 1% of the millions of species on our planet and most, if not all, do not correlate to human sexuality, such as dogs humping other dogs as a sign of dominance, or instances of caged lesbian koalas only being lesbian when no males are present.
Go with your gut instinct on fruitiness, either pro or con, until the scientific proof of purely genetic homosexual behavior emerges.
Viva la Status Quo!
what difference does it make if there's a gay gene or not?
and, besides -- like a good xian -- you'll still hate gay people anyway!
It staggers the mind, as someone whose( AS ALL DO) religion compels and obligates me to care for the environment, SYNONYMOUS with CREATION, that candidates, especially this one, could even think about eliminating the EPA. Not that is has, or is inclined to truyly protect our environment, CREATION, since the fundamental ideology of the capitalist system is that the environment is a commodity and can be bought and sold like we sold slaves to the highest bidders...
The use of words like Chrisitan, Gd, Faith, in the same speeches as economic growth, tells me that we have a tragic understanding of the deepest meaning of Gd, who lives in all that live.
The system we are currently in, if you hadn't noticed, is backfiring! It has turned iin on itself and is making victims out of its own young. The nurturing of children has become a marketed, manipulated, nutritionally vacant, feeding ground. What a commentary on these candidates inner interpretation of Gd and holiness.
The holiness exists iin all of nature, the greatest and most complete miracle humankind is quite frankly, pooping on, hence, pooping on the Gd they say they abide in. Hardly. This economic system is as ungdly as it gets. If it were Gdly, we'd need NO military, prisons, hospitals, all the economics of death...
Eden is in every human being and every being we SHARE the earth with. We are just too arrogant and mis-use the most important word of all, DOMINION.
When we stop the violence upon nature and the breath of Gd that gave all life, perhaps we can save ourselves from ourselves.
A free economic system is the best, economic slavery to the government, of the type you fantasize about is the worst.
And I have no reason to believe Jss, in your non-vowel pronounciation, was against people being free to buy or sell whatever they want, him throwing out money lenders profiting off of God notwithstanding.
See you make your money in the free market, and then you use some of what you made to help the less fortunate. No government involved. And, environmentally, air quality was improving in the US before the EPA was created. As countries get wealthier because of economic freedom, they have the money to afford luxuries like less environmental impacts, more expensive but cleaner forms of fuel, etc. In trashy socialist or communist countries like the Soviet Union, they're too poor to worry about environmental issues so they dry up the world's biggest lakes or have the biggest nuclear disaster ever as both occurred during that country's history.
Chesty-You must be extremely naive to think corporations will be environmentally friendly of their ownn accord. They will do whatever helps the bottom line and their stockholders the most, the environment be damned!
Capitalism, if left unencumbered and unrestricted, will eventually devolve into a small rich population, a small middle class (very small), and a very large poor population. It's called entropy and it never takes a day off.
If you want to have a strong middle class, and keep the number of poor as small as possible, capitalism must be well regulated. There will always be poor, middle class and rich people. The only thing that can be controlled is how many of each there are by managing and adjusting the system as needed to control the balance.
As Carol mentioned, and can easily been seen in action these days, corporations will first do whatever makes them more money regardless of other consequences. Everyone speaks about economic growth but few realize there is a limit to growth. Resources are finite. Infinite expansion, at 3% or any other rate, cannot continue forever.
Just remember, profit is money leftover after expenses. Despite current thinking, corporate profit doesn't have to keep growing. That's greed. As long as companies make a profit, all is well.
Yeah, evangelicals should love her. She's a woman married to a gay man. A VERY gay man.
If the spandex shirt doesn't fit, you must acquit!
This article is exactly why she lost the nomination. The Independent majority would never elect some crazed God-nut. Republicans, take heed in 2016.
We need to keep religion out of politics in this country. Things started to really go downhill when the "moral majority" got their hooks in about 3 decades ago. Ever since then, the GOP insincerely panders to the wishes of this "moral majority" to the detriment of ALL of us. They now have issues that concern private religious beliefs and values ALL MIXED up with govt and law. That is precisely what our forefathers wanted to avoid. Enough already.
No we need to keep atheism out of the public square.
If we're going to discriminate on religious matters, then the non-religious need to be blacklisted.
They won't support her. They believe a woman is a second class citizen whose only purpose is to serve man and make babies. That why the leader of their group endorsed Santorum.
What is funny about that endorsement is, its is very questionable about just how honest Santorum is.
"" “Do you know that the qualifications for public office are found in the Bible?” ...""
"" “I believe that Michele Bachmann fits all of those qualifications,”... ""
Yet nowhere in the Bible does it give as a qualification, the torture of homosexuals expecting you will *fix* them and *make* them heterosexual. According to some of her background information, this is something she supports. You dont "make them heterosexual" by forcing them to look at obscene material and then subject their bodies to electric shocks.
If any of these people claiming to be believers, followers, disciples of Jesus Christ think they're following Christ by doing this, they're deceiving themselves, for where in the Bible did Jesus ever subject sinners to torturous pain in order to *make* them stop sinning ?! He did not, He was merciful, not merciless, He infact forgave/pardoned them of their sin when others were ready to cast stones. Ofcourse it was they that even wanted to crucify Jesus when He had done nothing wrong, other than pointing out the hypocrisy w/in themselves.
How many people that steal (no matter how great or small), those that ever tell a lie, those that have lust in their heart (and the list goes on) would find it reasonable to have themselves subjected to temptation then suffer electric shocks (and other forms of torture) to force themselves to stop committing any sin ?! None of them, once again hypocrisy, "I can judge, torture, condemn another for his/her sin, yet I can safely ignore my own", typical of the self-righteous.
Exactly sexual preference is a product of nature and god created nature, so if you try to shock nature out of people then you must not think much of god.
Morlack; where exactly in the Holy Bible do you find the word nature apropos to God's creation? Try reading Genesis Chapter 1 in its entirety before your next post as to God creating nature. You'll never find that word in there. Nature is a human term, not biblical.
hazen44, the Pope has recently revised "genesis" to match the scientific explanation of the genesis, the Big Bang theory. --- so here is my revised version of it:
In the Beginning there were no Words, but God Thought: (To Herself, no one else was there!)
“I need Company; let’s go for Broke!” And with <One-Hand-Clapping> she made a Big-Bang.
.
