PAUL: A new Iowa State University/Gazette/KCRG poll shows Ron Paul is the new front runner in Iowa: Paul 28% (up from 20 a month ago), Gingrich 25 (up from 5), Romney 18 (up from 16), Perry 11 (up from 8), Bachmann 7 (down from 8), Santorum 5 (same), Can’t decide 5 (down from 8). The previous ISU poll, conducted Nov. 1-13, had Herman Cain in the lead 25%-20% over Ron Paul with Gingrich in sixth. The latest poll, which surveyed the same people as the last poll, shows the plurality of Cain’s supporters (38%) went to Gingrich, then Paul (20%), then Perry 14%. Romney got 9% of them. (Caveat: The poll was conducted over 10 days. The pollsters note that Paul’s support appears to be the most locked in, and that the other candidates’ appear to be soft. The anecdotal evidence suggest Gingrich’s support may not be this strong any longer.)
“On a day when several Republican presidential candidates were touting endorsements from socially conservative leaders in Iowa and nationally, Texas Representative Ron Paul made clear why he was not getting them,” the Boston Globe writes. “Asked about Bob Vander Plaats, president of the Iowa Family Leader group who today endorsed former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, Paul said, ‘He had decided I wasn’t willing to nationalize enough and I’ve stuck to my guns…. The founders were right in letting states sort out the more difficult problems.’ On both gay marriage and abortion, Paul differs from most of his Republican rivals and from much of the conservative Republican base in not urging a federal law either to define marriage or ban abortion. It is particularly in the area of social issues that Paul’s libertarian leanings are evident.”
PERRY: “Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindall told Iowans here today that Texas Gov. Rick Perry offers the best choice among Republican candidates for the presidency,” The Des Moines Register notes. More Jindal: “Most importantly, he is a governor who has led. He will not need on-the-job training,” Jindal said.
ROMNEY: The Boston Globe’s lead on Romney’s closing argument: “Mitt Romney, in a speech tonight that his campaign billed as his “closing argument” before Republican voters start selecting their nominee, focused almost exclusively on President Obama and cast the election as ‘a battle for America’s soul.’”
SANTORUM: “Influential social conservative Bob Vander Plaats today endorsed former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, a blow to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who has been trying to gain support from socially conservative voters,” the Boston Globe writes.
But: “Division amid Iowa’s evangelicals is so deep that it’s extremely unlikely they will unite behind one candidate in the two weeks before the caucuses, evangelical leaders agreed Tuesday, after the influential Family Leader organization announced it would not endorse in the race,” the Des Moines Register reports.

inde - let them crow. They've earned that right, with their candidate exceeding expectations at now leading in at least this Iowa poll. Like I've said before, I'll believe he wins (that caucus, not the nomination) when I see it. Even if I were to see him win the nomination, I still wouldn't believe it.
He's not a Republican. Somewhere along the line, Republican primary voters are going to figure that out. And... if Ron Paul were to win the caucus, the scrutiny going forward would be excruciating. There's a lot of material to draw from, when he was the LP nominee.
But for now, let 'em crow. They deserve that.

Consider, if you will, that Ron Paul is doing far better then he did in 2008. Also consider, if you will, that Ron Paul wins even if he loses, because the economy is going to implode for the precise reasons listed by Paul; thus, giving him massive credibility. Why is that a win? Because, then, Rand Paul and Gary Johnson can be handed the torch.
Can you imagine, for example, a Rand Paul/ Gary Johnson ticket and a Ron Paul elevated to economic sainthood supporting such a ticket??
The economic crisis is far from over.
Think about it.

Personal attacks on him calling him a racist when he’s clearly not, and the largest media propaganda campaign the world has ever seen since Hitler saying that the win means nothing or that it’s destroying the world of politics.
What hopefully happens out of those two scenarios is that people start to question why so many in power and control over their minds are wildly and fanatically beating the drum of labeling him: “Nut, Crazy, Loon, Racist, Old, Unelectable, etc.” When they do this and start actually researching him, they like us will have their eyes opened to the logic, genuineness, honesty, consistency and statesmanship of the politician they have been waiting their whole lives for.
When that happens tyranny, brainwashing and corruption will have been dealt its first blow in decades.

I predicted that the "establishment" candidates, who are for and supported by the corrupt system, would gradually deface and disgrace themselves leaving the field to Ron Paul and his ideas/integrity. This is now unfolding at a quick pace. The media will try as best as they can to ignore the general surge for Dr. Paul, and if that doesn't work, I am afraid that they will distort his positions on many subjects.
Nevertheless, the choice for 2012 is very critical - we either elect one of the "others" and business as usual will further the economic crisis and lead to war - perhaps world war III - or we vote for Ron Paul and deconstruct the corrupt, bankrupt system and replace it with the Constitution - and end all of the wars and close all of the military bases. I do not believe that there is any other political possibility; the USA cannot maintain the Empire, deficit spend, bail out Europe, and commit itself to more military conflict. The people of the United States cannot afford to let the situation deteriorate further. It is no longer about Republican verses Democrat - it is about an inefficient, ammoral system verses those that believe in a return to the Constitution and world peace.

I don't agree with most of what Dr. Paul says, but I deeply and truly admire his loyalty to his convictions and the loyalty of his supporters.

The republican establishment has done everything it could to first ignore and now discredit his campaign, he has had no help from Fox. The fact that he is leading in Iowa shows how weak the Republican candidates are, he is the 5th leader, because they have no single candidate that unify and excite them. He will never get the republican nomination because he refuses to parrot their talking points, and is faithful to his convictions. If the republican establishment can not take down Ron Paul, I doubt if they can take down Obama. If Paul does not get the nod from republicans he will not endorse their candidate and neither will his supporters. He tried to run as a republican with some different ideas, but their treatment of him has effectively made him a third party candidate once again. He is on his own and will never get the support of the republican establishment and that is exactly what makes him more and more attractive, as the standard republican message is failing with mainstream America. He is going to force the republican establishment to reckon with him and some of his ideas whether they wish to or not, as his support comes largely from people who previously considered themselves to be republicans and not democrats.
Ron Paul is #1 in Iowa and New Hampshire because of all the presidential candidates of both major parties, only he has repeatedly spoken out clearly and forcefully against the belligerent war propaganda and calculated lies in the bipartisan lead up to war with Iran, against the bipartisan campaign for punitive sanctions against Iran, and against further covert operations to destabilize the fragile geopolitical situation in the Mideast.
Ron Paul is not afraid to speak truth to power, which is why he is greatly admired by stalwart GOP conservatives, grass-roots tea party activists, independents, and disillusioned Obama Democrats.
