Why can't the media do a better job of informing the public? Take the debates for example, in which one debate had moderators ask three follow-up questions. What an improvement that was. Instead of news segments allotting a certain amount of time for single questions, would it really be that hard to factor in some time for follow-up questions?

Last Sunday's Meet The Press was an example of this, per other member's posts yesterday, and an earlier post of mine today:

...if Boehner wants to get all nostalgic about senate rules [about a "conference"], perhaps he is against abuse of the filibuster [at least just threatening one instead of actually filibustering--very much like simulating a conference, no?] ...Others already mentioned Meet The Press and the lame questions asked of Teapublicans like Bachmann. During the span of about five minutes I counted about five lies from Boehner.

When these Teapublicans start yammering about "Obama policies," [which Boehner mentioned at least three times] why doesn't the media point out that we are still operating under Bush-era wars (minus one now despite right-wing Hawks), deficits, and the Bush tax cuts? When they say the stimulus didn't work, why doesn't the media point out that multiple, independent organizations have proved it did work? And lying about the pipeline creating 20,000 jobs, my arse, more like 6,000 temporary Canadian jobs. And so forth -- Shame on David Gregory for allowing these false statements to go uncontested!

Lies going uncontested = "silence is consent."

Mark,Domenico, and the first read crew, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season. My question is if President Obama isn't re-elected how long of a honeymoon period will MSNBC give the new president?

Since MSNBC doesn't want to talk about viable subjects that will fix many problems in our nation,I will. Why don't you ask Congress to consider repealing the Earned Income Credit for having babies? Why do they want to pick on what they call entitlement programs such as Medicare and Social Security?Medicaid is not funded, neither is EIC,so,what the heck? Also, why don't you bother to question all the foreign aid we give away aimlessly? Why does the military get to spend any amount of money it seems to want? Why are Congressmen told not to talk about trade deficits when they get to Washington? Why did we give China "our" economy, and who benefitted the most from that smooth move?I'm willing to bet that you are part of the problem of greed we face in this country, and are not willing to face the facts. Why don't you raise so much hell for Congress that they have to get it together,or face what Egypt,Lybia,Yemen,Syria, and others are facing.Yes,that IS where we are headed next, and you don't want to do anything to help us before we have to make the changes ourselves.
