NEW YORK -- Newt Gingrich shot back at House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today, after Pelosi threatened to reveal details of the ethics investigation into the former House Speaker almost 13 years ago.
“I want to thank Speaker Pelosi for what I regard as an early Christmas gift,” Gingrich said during a press conference at Manhattan’s Union League Club Monday afternoon.
“If she’s saying that she’s going to use material that she developed while she was on the ethics committee,” Gingrich added, “that is a fundamental violation of the rules of the House, and I would hope that members would immediately file charges against her the second she does it.”
The remark brought a quick response over Twitter from Nancy Pelosi’s staff.
“[Pelosi] was clearly referring to the extensive amount of information that is in the public record,” wrote her spokesman, Drew Hammill.
The back-and-forth began earlier today when the left-leaning website Talking Points Memo published an interview with Pelosi, in which she said, “One of these days we’ll have a conversation about Newt Gingrich.”
The blog post was headlined, “Democrats Gleeful At Prospect of Running Against Gingrich.”
“I know a lot about him,” Pelosi told TPM. “I served on the investigative committee that investigated him, four of us locked in a room in an undisclosed location for a year. A thousand pages of his stuff.”
The ethics investigation resulted in sanctions against Gingrich, and a fine.
Gingrich resigned as Speaker of the House in 1999. Pelosi later served as House Speaker, from 2007 until January, 2011.
The two appeared in a 2008 video encouraging action on global warming –- a move that has invited attacks from Gingrich’s opponents in the GOP field.
“We don’t always see eye-to-eye, do we Newt?” Pelosi said in the video.
“No,” Gingrich replied.

bernie, educate yourself. The last time the budgets of the u.s. was balanced and had a surplus, newt gingrich was speaker of the house and the republicans controlled the senate. Geeeeeeezzzzzzzzz it is a matter of public information. Man the education of the liberals in this country is sorely lacking.
The problem the left has with Newt is the fact that he can go line for line with Obama Newt knows the procces and can call anyone out if it is a lie. Pretty scarey seeing how he had his own problems. The difference is he has vetted himselve.

Typical political hypocrisy. If Nancy exposes the real dirt on Newter's 84 alleged House Ethics Rules violations, she will be attacked for violating House Ethics Rules.
Seems like he would prefer that this s^^t would come out now, rather than in the middle of a presidential campaign. It will come out, not doubt about it!
loyaltexan, let me educate you. Newt was found innocent of 74 of the 75 charges against him. The 1 charge he was found guilty of was paying for a college course that was being taught. Imagine the evil man paying for a college course to learn about america.

Please note that I used the word alleged meaning charged but not proven. My point is if he didn't do it (83 of them) why would he fuss about having them in the public arena?

I'm sure that Newts relatioship with Jim Joshnson who headed FNMA for several years will be investigated. Jim had most Congressmen/women in his pocket when he headed FNMA. Congress made a yearly subsidy of 7.5 Billion to FNMA and Jim made sure some of those funds found their way into the coffers of Congree in their re-election bids. Keep talking Nit, I mean Newt, you will dig a hole for yourselft just like Hermie did.

Maybe you hadnt heard, but Obamacare has been 'repealed' by 26 different states, and the Supreme Court will now judge the constitutionality of it next year... So...yeah, and the court is conservative, and it will be repealed on a 5-4 SC vote... HHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! What a tool.

The House voted overwhelmingly yesterday to reprimand House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) and order him to pay an unprecedented $300,000 penalty, the first time in the House's 208-year history it has disciplined a speaker for ethical wrongdoing.
The ethics case and its resolution leave Gingrich with little leeway for future personal controversies, House Republicans said. Exactly one month before yesterday's vote, Gingrich admitted that he brought discredit to the House and broke its rules by failing to ensure that financing for two projects would not violate federal tax law and by giving the House ethics committee false information.
"Newt has done some things that have embarrassed House Republicans and embarrassed the House," said Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-Mich.). "If [the voters] see more of that, they will question our judgment."
House Democrats are likely to continue to press other ethics charges against Gingrich and the Internal Revenue Service is looking into matters related to the case that came to an end yesterday.

I used to love pro wrestling as a kid in the 80's. The larger than life characters, the crazy antics, the showmanship... How brutal both sides seemed to be towards one another. But then i grew up, and I realized they are just actors. They get paid a LOT of money by Vince McMahon (the owner) to put on a good show. Most of them are friends behind the scenes. They'd simply follow a script, and they do what Vince and his clever writers tell them to... because it got people in the seats. It made people passionate about they guy THEY liked. I've watched full grown adults break into near-fisticuffs over "Who was better", believing it was real, and shell out money for Pay-per-view events. In the end, it's all fake. The wrestlers are all out to get rich and famous, and they want you to believe it's real.
Who are you guys "rooting for" in the next election? The parties are there to distract and divide you, so you never go looking for Vince behind the curtain...
