I really hope that all republicans and democrats don't think the other party is all about hurting the american way of life. I believe if you took 3 republicans and 3 democrats and set them down you could get alot more done then our congress and senate and white house.. only 6 working common americans. i really believe that this could happen and things would get done.. I Agree!!! But not the way they're advertising it!!! Why does have to be only a selct group of poor children in poor neighborhoods????!!! That's the problem I seen with it!!! I want to build more trade schools and business schools for young man, women coming straight out of high school so they can have a better option then spending 100,000 dollars for acquiring in education from a four year college and owing that in student loan debt. So they're half right in my opinion but let's open it up to all Americans and all students starting with the poor and continuing on to anybody who wants to be educated through trade schools that way we can bring down the cost of 4 year univeristy education. It's what they call in the business community an open competition.

"Really poor children in really poor neighborhoods have no habits for working and have nobody around them who works. So they literally have no habit of showing up on Monday. They have no habit of staying all day. They have no habit of I do this and you give me cash unless it's illegal."

This is the problem with the Republicans, especially this one. They make blanket statements like this, encompassing everyone in poor areas by saying their parents are lazy, therefore the kids are lazy and can only get money if it's illegal (i.e. drug dealing). But, let's give them a mop and a broom and make them junior janitors... because that's all they're good for. I grew up in the projects in Chicago in the poorest, most improverished area, went to one of the roughest high schools and didn't get my first job until I graduated. Not because I was lazy... Because my parents wanted me to concentrate on my studies and I got a part-time job to put some money in my pocket when I started college. This story is true for a lot of impoverished kids I knew growing up. Drug dealing, stealing and killing continues in Chicago's poor areas, but not all kids living in these areas are lazy, good for nothings that want nothing out of life just because that's what they see around them. Newt needs to step in front of a bus.

Newt Gingrich will appoint Don Trump for VP and Deadeye Dick Halliburton Cheney for master of sewers. Joe Arpaio will not be far behind as Commandant of the Labor Camps.

Great idea. There are plenty of inner city poor kids who have no idea how our economic system works. A job, no matter how menial, is a start.

Just working brings you dignity and a sense of self reliance. It instills a work ethic and a measure of discipline that is real world critical.

Instead of offering jobs to kids at some slave labor rate, Newt, Donald and the rest of the brains in the republican party should have a plan to put working age Americans to work. OH I forgot, that's the trickle down theory that has never worked. But we must not cut back on tax breaks because of all the jobs it creates. But of course hiring children will certainly increase the bottom line for profits, what a brilliant idea.

What is lost in all this is the demeaning and patently false assumption that the poor have no work ethic and need someone (Trump?) to teach them what hard work is. Trump has no notion of what it is to work for a living. His idea of a tough day is doing a couple of interviews and attending a couple of meetings. On Hannity's show yesterday Hannity was marveling at the Donalds great energy as if he had actually ever done an honest days work. These phonies (Trump, Gingrich, and the rest) need to stop denigrating the Poor in this country. Circumstance, Luck, Legacy, these are what seperates the classes in this country, not hard work. The right needs to stop equating wealth and virtue. There is no inherent goodness to being rich, and likely as not the wealthy may so be as a result of less than virtuous behaviors. Similarly there is no vice in being poor. There are many working poor in this nation whose character and ethics cannot be questioned and yet they remain poor. This is part of the great Conservative Mythology. That the poor are to be blamed for their plight, that if the just worked harder they would join the ranks of the wealthy. Of course they know this is not the case but it absolves them of any responsibility to help those less fortunate than they through Government action. And if the governmet levels the playing field even just a little bit they know that their share of the economic pie just might diminish. And more than anyone they are certain that there is only so much to go around and they need to procure as much of it as possible. Wealth is power, and power attracts and retaind wealth.
