Donald Trump suggested creating an apprentice program for young children following a meeting with Newt Gingrich in New York.
Donald Trump said he's creating a program similar to "The Apprentice" for poor New York City schoolchildren, an idea he credited to Newt Gingrich.
While Gingrich might not have snagged an endorsement from Trump following a meeting at the real estate mogul and reality TV star's Manhattan office, it appears the former House Speaker struck a different sort of deal to create the new program.
"As a number of you know, I've been making the case that we need to work very hard to help poor children in poor neighborhoods acquire opportunities to work," Gingrich said following the pair's meeting. "And I've asked him to take one of the poorest schools in New York, and basically offer at least 10 apprenticeships to kids from those schools, to get them into the world of work and get them into an opportunity to earn money, and get them into a habit of showing up and realizing that hard work gets rewarded and that America's all about the work ethic."
It's not clear whether the new program would be developed into a television program like Trump's "The Apprentice" on NBC, which has gone through several iterations since its 2004 premiere.
If nothing else, the plan would appear to keep promoting Gingrich's somewhat controversial push to encourage more relaxed child labor standards, especially in poorer communities.
"Really poor children in really poor neighborhoods have no habits for working and have nobody around them who works. So they literally have no habit of showing up on Monday. They have no habit of staying all day. They have no habit of I do this and you give me cash unless it's illegal," he explained last week in Des Moines.
Trump explained: "He did mention if I could do something for some of the kids in very, very poor schools throughout the city. I thought it was a great idea. We call it an apprenticeship, and I think we all know about "The Apprentice." We're going to be picking 10, young, wonderful children, and we're going to make them 'apprenti.' We're going to have a little fun with it, and I think it's going to be something that is really going to prove results. But it was Newt's idea, and I think it's a great idea."
Trump plans to host a debate later this month in Iowa for Republican presidential candidates. Gingrich is the only candidate to have pledged to attend.
The two were effusive with praise for each other in their brief remarks following their meeting; Gingrich said he was a "big fan" of Trump, while Trump said he was amazed by Gingrich's success and "how it's really resonated with so many people."

He also Praised Trump for calling Chuck Todd a LIAR!
Priceless!
Occupy SoggyBottom!
I can picture it now...
The guy who has a 'squirrel' living on top of his head, sitting these poor kids down in his board room and one by one traumatizing them with;
YOU'RE FIRED!
That should be a ratings bonanza for NBC! lol
Even my 46" TV screen couldn't accommodate the EGO's of those two narcissists!
At least Newt got kissing the Donald's
ringass out of the way!Look at the kids' shows on today. Almost every one of them promotes an idea that the only real success is celebrity - whether via acting, singing, running a successful webcast, etc. Is that any more beneficial than what you described?
But... if done right (as in, not done like the "you're fired" reality show), this could turn into something more.
The Donald can tell the youngsters 'you're fired'...
The Newt will then take over and teach them how to be 'con artists'!
Feisty, NoOne & I mean NoOne is more deserving of being called a "LIAR" than Chucky T. with his Inflated Ego.
It happened this morning on his show & Chucky T was clearly disgusted. I loved his reaction.
Occupy SoggyBottom!
Not sure I want to watch poor kids learn how to mop the floor.
I tried to think of a way to comment on this, uh, farce. But words just fail me. All I can think of is Oliver, "Please, sir, may I have some more?"
Heavens, please save our chlldren from Newt'rs, Trump and the rest of the GOP/TP.
What's wrong with just one low life, Newt, when two, Newt and the Donald, will do! Let's glamorize child labor shall we?
This is another way Republicants are trying to tell us the poor people amongst us are the problem of this country.
Instead of continuing to filibuster millions of jobs in the American Jobs Act AJA and voting 'no" even to debate 3 times, how about Trump and the Koch-ers & their Norquistian colleagues in Congress support the extension of:
1. Middle class payroll tax and
2. Unemployment insurance
And put poor and out-of-work American families - and the parents of these poor children - back to work following:
1 in 5 of folks unemployed are construction workers having been put out of work by shadey mortgage and housing deals and crimes on Wall Street. GOP voted No to the Infrastructure provision in the AJA, costing us millions of jobs for construction workers;
The protection of the wealthy from paying the same effective tax rate as everyone else for the last 30 years and trillions of dollars added to the deficit due to the high-end Bush tax cuts.
600,000 teachers, firefighters and police whose jobs have been cut under the pretext of budget cuts by Republican Governors, who in reality shifted those monies to the wealthy and corporations,
can be continued.....
We really need to learn to lay off Gingrich for now.
I thought "Oliver Twist" couldn't be improved?
It would be great to see Trump on his knees scrubbing floors.
I thought the Republican Party could not stoop any lower, but now they are actually considering public broadcasts of 10 children working for no pay (aka slavery) while their "mentor" (aka slave owner) makes billions off the show.
Oliver Twist had it easy, he was at least paid for his work.
Douche and Bag. (You decided which is which....cause it is rather subjective...)
dirp said: I thought the Republican Party could not stoop any lower
As if the democrat party is the stellar example of incredible fortitude.
Let's see dirp, how many ideas come out of the democrat party to try to actually HELP people? ummmmm... not many that I can think of. If your idea of helping people is to keep them in poverty by handing them government money each month, you have a really warped sense of reality.
This is an idea... an IDEA!! Something the democrat party is sorely lacking!
Liberals can hope. I'll work on the change.
Well, Brianb,
Trump and Newt are standing up for the economically disadvantaged,
and you are standing up for the developmentally disadvantaged.
Good man.
This a first class Republican IDEA to solve the nations unemployment rate? No wonder the GOP/TP is considered an EPIC FAIL!!
Backhouse, where do you make up your fantasy lies? Go to the teachers trade association web site and the number of teachers in this country has gone up not down and they indicate that they will grow 5% next year and 13% over the next couple of years. You must hate Rahm as much as you hate Walker then as he is cutting union employees like crazy here in Chicago in order to balance the budget but where is the outcry? Come on Backhouse you need to be consistent? I didnt think you believed in trickle down so why would you put the social security trust fund at greater risk of failure to create more tax cuts that dont do anything? Both sides of the aisle know that the unemployment extension is pure politics because after 3 years they both know that its delays employment and doesnt help it. If you want to put them back to work shouldnt you stop paying them to not work?
Since you hate Walker so much and his so called failed financial policies after giving him only one year in office, what if one of Walker's community organizers became a state representative by the GOP machine in Wisconsin and then given the senate seat and then became president, how would that make you feel? Now think how we feel in Illinois where Obama mentored and learned from the democratic machine that has turned Illinois into a financial disaster and took his failed policies learned from the great success in Illinois and became President. Do you see know why he doesnt deserve another term?
BrianB: repeal of the 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th Amendments are ideas too. Like many that come from the GOP, they lack temporal lobe usage prior to being announced, but you are correct, they are ideas.
However, IMHO, deciding to begin the broadcast televised enslavement of children is not how we should be encouraging the poorest in our nation to succeed. And having adulterors who are in favor of childhood slave labor as the leading spokes persons for your party should not make you happy.
The Tea Party ideal of having the old, poor, disabled, and wounded warriors just DIE is not a set of very good ideas in my opinion. I am much more in favor of our government helping its people rather than killing them.
frickin hypocrite!! I hate this guy with a passion! (blingrich, that is)
1. Have never hated anyone in my life.
2. Walker, Kasich, Scott et al. had their chance.
3. They did not run on the real agenda assigned to them by ALEC/Koch/Norquist.
4. But once they showed what they were about, the American people said NO.
3. Misinformation/disinformation and stubbornly holding on to giant whoppers does not constitute as verifiable fact.
dirp said: IMHO, deciding to begin the broadcast televised enslavement of children is not how we should be encouraging the poorest in our nation to succeed
Good thing this is your humble opinion but you get an A+ for spin. No one said it WOULD be televised. It's your spin that it's enslavement. But like a good liberal that hates anything to the right of center, it's par for the course.
Even though you are missing the point of it... and that point is to teach disadvantaged children what work ethic is all about... OMG!!! Work ethic, what is that? Something the liberals hate! They want to give the empoverished all their money, food and housing... don't EVER allow them the chance to learn about making it on their own... hell, that requires..... PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY... something liberals are completely opposed to.
Yes, I am being snarky, so what? With good reason. Socialism voids personal responsibility... it negates it. Everyone is equal, eh dirp?
Not sure how to respond to Newt's latest idea except to say, it is another dog whistle to those who believe all the nation's problems are because of the working poor and their children. This is just the latest version of Reagan's "welfare queens".
Most poor people do work hard; some at two and three jobs just to make ends meet. Instead of an apprenticeship to teach poor children work habits, how about the GOP think about helping to provide adequate food which allows kids to focus better instead of voting to cut funds school subsidized lunches and food stamp programs. How about providing the parents of poor children with "apprenticeships" to learn a skilled trade while paying them a living wage while learning that trade. That's the kind of trickle-down that works. Teach the parents who then teach the children the importance of education.
Wouldnt you rather hate someone with a passion but have a president more financially astute and able to put some fiscal sanity into government operations?
Dirp--you realize being shrill and ridiculous loses all credibility? None of us that want a more fiscally astute president that isnt driving us into economic ruin doesnt mean we want to kill old, poor and the disabled. The government has been helping these people to the tune of trillions of dollars forever and its not going to stop? You want to be credible speak within reason.
As for adulterors or childhood slave labor adjectives make everyone just laugh that isnt part of the loony left. I didnt know you could reach into someone's heart and mind and know who is an adulteror. So you think Obama has never stepped out? I am sure you thought the same thing of Bill before he was finally caught. What about Bush II? Even if he didnt, sure didnt make him a good President. Stupid label. Explain the child slave labor? You guys are kooks.
Jody, you do realize that food stamps have not been cut and in fact they have grown over 80% over the last 3 years. When anyone is speaking of cuts, they are talking about cutting the rate of growth to the budget not any actual cuts to spending. You know that right but you embellished anyway right?
Putting aside the stupid Trump impact, programs that teach work ethic I would assume people of all political parties could get behind. I wouldnt think thats partisan or GOP. Why would you guys hate this idea just because it came from Newt? Arent you guys on this blog for the benefit of the country or are you only for the benefit of Obama at all costs even if it hurts the country?
We have always had a poverty issue in this country just like we have had a poverty issue in the world since the beginning of time. But a real measure of a country is how we treat our poor. Put aside economic racism of generational welfare caused by addiction to government assistance, we can measure poor by how we treat our poor. Do you know that the average poor household in America owns two cars, lives in a residence larger than a European middle class household, has two TVs including a flat screen, cable TV, a cell phone, all modern appliances, Xbox, Wii and 2 pairs of $200 dollar Nike shoes and access to health care albeit not at the quality of insured care. In comparison to the rest of the world, the US does really well and you could almost say, our poor would be rich in many places in this world. That doesnt mean there are plenty of situations like that were showcased on 60 minutes that just make you cry. So the real issue is how do we make a better difference not act like we are killing our poor. How do we close the education gap for example (an area in which the democrats refuse to make a difference). Coming up with solutions instead of hyperbole is what we need.
Kirk, stop confusing the progressives with the facts, it slows down their talking points.
For the progressives, they condescend to poor people, considering them as unable to change their position in life. They encourage dependency and poverty, and that is what we get.
Cities like Detroit and Newark are the results of their policies. that is what they want for all of America.
Backhouse, so in other words you cant answer and admit you were wrong. Its about time. I think Walker, Kasich got elected based exactly on what they said they would do. You think their policies are failures and lets assume thats true. But in Illinois we dont have to assume the democratic machine under which Obama learned and was mentored was a failure we KNOW it was. So if a community organizer working for Walker, Kasich or Scott became president based on their assumed failure of their policies how would that make you feel? Now look in Illinois where we absolutely know for 100% certainty that the those policies under which Obama studied and were apart of were failures and now he is president and under a governor who is in jail. Wow, can you imagine the wonderment how that could occur in this country. Thanks Backhouse for helping make it so clear.
La-La-No-Fact-Just-Make-It-Up-As-You-Go Land is clearly YOUR oyster.
Go for it!
Backhouse, ha are you really a middle school girl? What fact do you want to know? That Illinois is a failure economically? Thats not in dispute. That Obama was a community organizer and learned from the masters in the democratic machine and was part of it? Thats not in dispute. So what part is made up? I was asking you to sit back and close your eyes and imagine if a Walker community organizer became President and then feel our pain. I dont need to go for it as this country has been living it real time for the last 3 years so we all our experiencing it first hand which is reflected in disapproval ratings and why Mr. Obama is working out 2 hours a day while vacationing, golfing, fund raising and strategizing the rest of the time.
Kirk,
There was a time when we could talk and didn't have to listen to the wind whistling around Planet Zog while doing it.
Good luck!
Brianb: I'll break this down into simple steps so even you can understand it. When you decide to have children work, its called child labor. When you don't pay them for that work, its called slavery. When you create a television show to promote it, that's just wrong.
It is adultery to become involved with another person when you are already married. Since both Mr. Trump and Mr. Gingrich have been involved with other women while being married, they are, by definition, adulterors. Since Mr. Gingrich is currently the latest version of a "leader" the Republicans have advanced, that too is just wrong.
BTW: sorry I could not respond sooner, I was working.
Has Newt or Donald given any ideas on how and who is going to pay for all the works/jobs that they ar proposing?? Maybe just add an working tax to the kid's income/pay
This is simply one of the most disgusting ideas I've ever read. The monies spent in self-aggrandizing these two, make me sick. Shame on everyone involved. Any monies considered should be donated to charity for the children, and prayers for forgiveness need to be offered.
Children as pawns for gain? Disgusting. I know that is as old as mankind, but when are we going to do better? This is not the America I am proud of.
I strongly do not support either corrupt political party.
Off Topic, but WTH!
New York Times - DEA money laundering for Cartels.
By GINGER THOMPSON Published: December 3, 2011
WASHINGTON — Undercover American narcotics agents have laundered or smuggled millions of dollars in drug proceeds as part of Washington's expanding role in Mexico's fight against drug cartels, according to current and former federal law enforcement officials.
The agents, primarily with the Drug Enforcement Administration, have handled shipments of hundreds of thousands of dollars in illegal cash across borders, those officials said, to identify how criminal organizations move their money, where they keep their assets and, most important, who their leaders are...
The high-risk activities raise delicate questions about the agency's effectiveness in bringing down drug kingpins, underscore diplomatic concerns about Mexican sovereignty, and blur the line between surveillance and facilitating crime. As it launders drug money, the agency often allows cartels to continue their operations over months or even years before making seizures or arrests...
Another former agency official, who asked not to be identified speaking publicly about delicate operations, said, "My rule was that if we are going to launder money, we better show results. Otherwise, the D.E.A. could wind up being the largest money launderer in the business, and that money results in violence and deaths."
___
The head of the DEA must step down. This isn't an episode of the Soprano's what are they doing? Money laundering for them now. Don't care whose watch it is on. WTH is going on!
Oh yeah in important news, Trump needs to create a kids apprentice show. Can't wait to see kids scratch, claw and back stab each other in the board room as Trum eggs them on.
This is unbelievable Mark. We are moving guns and money for these low-lifes?
Has the US government become nothing more than a mule for the Mexican Drug Lords?
Good God this is insane.
You are right, doesn't matter under who's watch. I'll bet stuff like this crosses over from Administration to Administration.
Sounds like a whole lot of people need to resign.
WCA - You are right, doesn't matter under who's watch. I'll bet stuff like this crosses over from Administration to Administration.
- shakes head in disbelief -
With everyone starting to turn away from Newt.. after reading the scathing reviews written all weekend ..The charges .. the fines .. the con artist mentality etc ..i doubht this will happen!
I would not put a child in the room with either of these bullies who only serve to exploit and self aggrandize...This is only about them ..
Neither are examples of a positive role model !
At this juncture , I just want the repub plutocracy to pick their fool and we can get on with it! Repub baggers continue to support the Wall Street bonus takers and the wealthy 1%ers over the American people and the Nation!
Ya know, it's not the worst idea. It might be something other kids watch, and anything that helps pull back that veil and provide a little exposure to positive (and legal) business opportunities has potential.
One has to wonder if the Newt charged the Trump $2M for this bit of "historical" consultation.
Nice deflection from the real issues Newt. Rather than develop ideas/policies to solve income equality, dig ourselves out of the biggest recession since the Great Depression, or deal with the hotbed issues in foreign affairs, all Newt can come up with is to put children living below the poverty line to work. And people take this guy seriously? Why not come up with one single idea to create jobs for working adults? It must be to difficult for the "historian".
I doubt he's thinking of a return to the sweat shop days.
Work has its advantages. When I was a kid, paper routes were the most readily available. The ethic of having to do your job, even when you weren't feeling well. The responsibility of having to collect money, and keep track of those limited accounts. It was great stuff.
Don't know about other places, but kids can't do that now where I live, because adults have all the routes.
I'm a little intrigued by this idea. Work ethic is gone. It's hard to get kids to put out a good effort anymore, because after all we've spent their entire lives telling them how special they are even when they don't try. Maybe it is time for a few new approaches.
Same here Paul!
Paul, what is more important to our future, kids with a good education and the ability to move into the future, or skip homework and studying for a low wage job? And why do you assume it is poor children that have a bad work ethic? And whatever happened to the idea of letting children be children for a while before faced with the hardship of being an adult?
That is it exactly phine .. Daddy lost his job. Grab the kids and put them into forced work camps cleaning Newts toilets. Plan B is to force them into an insidious reality show.
These two mega egos have a plan for children.....put them to work cleaning toilets....
Where's the plan to put adults to work?.....nevermind.
At least now I know why the right hates abortion.
An unborn slave is a terrible thing to waste.
Wow, really Drive by?
phine - I didn't say poor kids. I was over-generalizing, but I over-generalized about all kids. I coach club soccer, and it's become a truism among coaches. While exceptions exist, for the most part it's hard to get kids to work, even when its working for something they want.
But the poor kid focus is interesting. Remember, this was a liberal line for decades. Without access to the role models of success, poor kids aren't likely to break out of the circumstances of their raising. That's what I would assume Gingrich was getting at. Maybe I'm giving him too much benefit of the doubt, but I'm pretty sure that's it.
The poorest of the poor are more likely to get into gangs or the drug trade or both, because that's often what constitutes success in their experiences. Even for the kids who can see past that and do try to earn good grades as a step toward getting a good job, etc., I think they often run into barriers of their own making, simply because they aren't familiar with successful paths.
So, if you take a handful of kids and give them televised age-appropriate opportunities, maybe other kids will tune in and pick up some of this. Who knows. It's potentially better than the cynical message they receive now that the only real success comes from demanding your shot as a parasitic entertainer. To me, that's only a little better than the drug trade - a way of beating the system and enjoy all the fruits of society without contributing anything to society other than your own celebrity personality.
I'd rather watch the remaining nominees in their own game of Survivor.
Disgusting . . . talking about putting children to work when the bastards are doing everything they can to screw the poor and middle class and line their pockets with gold. I predict they'll want to start burning Charles Dickens novels next.
And you can bet Trump will make a TV show of it - he might make an extra nickel off the backs of the poor from the kinds of monsters like themselves that would even listen or watch such a vile idea.
These people are out of control--totally off their rockers--living on a different planet maybe--and into some strange drugs!
How about real solutions to real problems!
Unbelievable!
Going to have to change my moniker to "Dazed and Confused."
On second thought, maybe the boys are having "A Christmas Carol" moment.
Let's nominate them for Humanitarians of the Year.....
Here's an idea for those two Serial Adulteres ......Trump and Gingrich
Why not create a program called "Family Values"
Try to get to the source of the Hypocrisy of the party of ridiculous platitudes that is devoid Integrity
Its the Don & Newt Show brought to you by them. The two men who are the epitome of family values. The do as I say, not as I do boys make a good team. Both are blowhards.
By the way who the hell does the donald think he is. He is just a business man with a TV show. He is the only person to bankrupt his own casino.
So tell me all you republican/ tea baggers do you want a President who leaves his his wife when she is in the hospital with cancer? Than Newt is your man!
Its all about Family Values right?
Donald Trump's father benefited from government insured mortgages after WWII and the post-war housing boom, amassing $200 million dollars. Donald himself has lost his father's fortune through bankruptcy, and built it back up through huckersism - and this is who we want teaching ghetto kids how to hold a job?
We all know how Gingrich built his fortune - charging huge fees to "advise" companies doing business with the government, including Fannie MAw and Frannie Mac. What a couple of scoundrels
isn't that the very same program Sandusky and Paterno were working on...
Does not surprise me that Sandusky is a registered Republican
Too many child predatorsicko perverts on the right
Newt is a CREEP!!!!! And trump is WORST!!!!!
Democrats have a higher rate of criminals in their party. Murders, rapist, robbers, assault, food stamp fraud and yes child incest and rape. The cost to the country is unreal. Obama talks about the top 5% or 2%? My God the bottom 20% have been consuming the country like wild fire. Stop their illegal activity and the economy surges forward.
usa1998.com
Phil,
You are full of bull$hit. Just because people like you get on here and speak $hit as if it is a fact, doesn't make it a fact....Get it?
Phil your a bottom feeder. Crawl back under your rock.
First off, I am against repealing child labor laws for janitorial work and dangerous jobs. The jobs should not be given to kids as this would take steady jobs away from adults who need the work.
However, most of you who decry this suggestion by the Republicans try to put it into context. Not even Trump and Gingrich are asking for kids to work in mines and or in dangerous fields. I know sometimes it is good to rant but let’s be serious. Their idea is wrong because of the economic situation of adult workers. If they are talking about summer work I would have no problem with their program if economic times/unemployment was better. Kids should continue to work as lifeguards, movie attendants, concession workers etc. There is nothing wrong with them earning their money so they can understand that it doesn’t grow on trees.
For true work/labor crimes against children watch Rock center tonight.
Diging for gold, children work in harsh conditions, paid with bags of dirt
Editor’s Note: Richard Engel’s full report, "The Price of Gold," airs Monday at 10pm/9c on NBC's Rock Center With Brian Williams.
Yellowdog - I'm glad you pointed out that, although this might be a good idea in a good economy - we need to be providing jobs for the economically poor parents, so that they CAN provide positive work models for their children. Surely, there are other ways to provide children good work ethics than a television program.
"Trampy Trump," and his new mentally ill friend "Nutty Newt" now plan to economically exploit the poorest children of America. Really?? It is bad enough that these to "Socially Sadistic" GOP Clowns want to protect the top 1% of Americans. Now these GOP Clowns are into economically exploited the poor. Again! For TV ratings, and more ways earn more money than they already have. What a joke America!
I truly hoped we were done With Donald Trump. Please Chuck Todd don't interview him anymore. I almost spit our my coffee this morning . Just my opinion but I think Jon Huntsman and Ron Paul made the right decision to forgo this debate.
Have reality shows actually stooped so low now that we are going to show "poor" children working for a living? And Trump and Gingrich think this will play well in middle America? Well I guess we can say....come on Suzie and Johnny, let's go watch poor kids who have to work....we can then all be thankful that you kids aren't in that situation.....really? Well if Congress puts a bill forth to relax child labor laws for poor kids then you know we've hit rock bottom in this country.
We have seen the result of what rich and powerful men do with disadvantaged children
Why would any parent subject or sacrifice their child to these two selfish amoral men
R U N!!!
The both of them have such overinflated opinions of themselves I'm amazed that both of their heads fit in the same room.
Again, the GOP learned nothing from the 2008 election. They really think these racist comments will energize their base and not energize the democratic base? I would love for Newt to run, he will create a landslide election for Obama. Of all the important issues facing this country, unemployment , debt reduction, education and unfair tax rates , Newt and the Birther will focus on getting poor minirity children to learn how to work. Because of course if you come from a poor family your parents or parent did not work and absollutely don't value it. They just steal. The GOP get more ridiculous every day.!!
Dr. Jay, dont you think the economic racism of the democratic base is just as bad? By addicting the poor and minorities to government assistance creating generational welfare and refusing education reform in order to close the education gap, the democratic base is doing the same thing? Put aside Trump, whats wrong with teaching work ethic and personal responsibility and self reliance. The democratic base seems to think just giving money is going to solve problems and that equality of outcomes should be the result regardless of inequality of effort and investment of either time or money. Thats not how it works and that personal responsibility and accountability need to be baseline of success. People shouldnt be rewarded or incented certain ways for the choices they make in life. Good old fashioned midwestern values of self reliance and not wanting what your neighbor has might get you farther than putting your hand out.
Kirk, your comment is soooo typical for a Republican. When you have no defense for the bad behavior of one of your own, you try to change the subject to focus on someone else's bad behavior. In psychological circles, it's called "throwing in the red herring". Can't you Republicans EVERY admit that you're wrong?
Newt 's idea is to teach children the value of work by having apprentices do small jobs at school. However, given the crooked public unions which basically run the failed inner city public schools, what will the the children learn about the work ethic?
They will learn the "public union work ethic"--the unionized janitor gets a fat salary for working very little, and can never be fired.
A poster above claimed janitorial work was "low wage". Really?
NY Post : "six NY City custodians took home more than $150,000 last year -- and among the 20 who hauled in more than $140,000, the records show.
The janitors' base salary maxes out at $106,329, according to their latest contract -- about $6,000 more than the maximum salary for teachers."
Bob, those salaries were for department heads/managers. They weren't for the people who are actually cleaning the toilets. Your giving ONLY part of the facts is dishonest.
First it was a "Contract on America" and now "it's a Contract on Kds'.
Please Sir, penny for the poor?
Bah Humbug!
How many other libs are attending your "pitty party" today?
When i was in high school they had a program to work after school... my brother and i worked and got paid it wasn't much but it was alittle money but because my mother didn't have the money for our lunchs we could work to get them... i think that was a great program and to this day i remember the guys that i worked with (the janitors) like my mentors i think you would call them now. I think that program and my mother gave me my morals and work ethics. At 59 and have my own business i know that program worked for me.
Don't mention the word "work" to liberals .
What would their platform be if they couldn't ask for more and more hand outs "for the poor" in order to create an even bigger entitlement society?
Leona ~ your facts, please that liberals have a platform of giving out hand outs for the poor to create an even bigger entitlement society? This is just an example of making a statement just to make a statement, with no substance behind it.
Judy,
Leona does know that liberals and democrats are much richer and control more wealth in America than those who call themselves conservatives. She also does not seem to know that red states have a much higher welfare enrollment cost than blue states. It looks to me like its the conservatives who need a big strong boot up their a$$ to get them to work, they are sure a bunch of lazy slackers when compare to those horrible liberals!
An apprentice program for poor kids would be a great idea. Show these kids how the rest of our children stay off welfare and make the best of all the opportunities America has to offer. We really need our leaders to provide better examples to our young people rather than encouraging them to camp out illegally in city parks and blame someone else for their lot in life.
Are you saying....."show the kids how to stay off welfare" ??
What would liberals/Democrats do if everyone got off welfare? They'd have no constituents left.
It's a shame Leona that Liberal Democrats have encouraged so many more people in this country to give up and blame someone else for their lot in life. Look at all the welfare that has been pumped into the state of Louisianaover the last few years. It's a sad case for generational welfare encouraging policies like Obama's. I think even Liberals are embarrassed by what is going on in this country since 2008.....
UAW Pleeeeeeeeeeeease should not be confused with the Real American UAW779887.He is the real supporter of the worker. the other has no imagination. and is a UAW wanna be
Thanks for clearing that up UAW"779887" I would not want that confusion to go on. I might add I was also one of the investors whose equity stake was taken and given to the UAW in Obama's union "bail-out".....
Thank you for your contribution
