Perry ad in Iowa emphasizes Christian faith

Rick Perry's campaign released a new ad Friday showcasing the Texas governor's religious faith to Iowa voters.

Perry's campaign released a 30-second spot in which he emphasizes his Christian roots; the ad plays to socially conservative voters in Iowa who might impact the state's Jan. 3 caucus in Perry's favor.

"When you run for president, you get a bunch of questions about your faith. People want to know what drives you, how you make decisions," Perry says in the spot. "Now some liberals say that faith is a sign of weakness. Well they're wrong. I think we all need God's help."

Perry's evangelical faith has been a selling point for his candidacy. He hosted a national day of prayer in August, which in part stoked speculation that he might run for president after having initially said otherwise.

Is Perry aware that we aren't voting for head minister? And about the Establishment Clause, you think he knows what it is?

Perry's religious views are pointless and irrelevant to his qualifications to run for, and be elected to, the office of president of this country. The fact he would advertise his religion in a campaign ad is shameful.

Here we go pandering to the evangelist - uninformed poor. What has ever happened to separation between state and religion................PUBS always like to quote the constitution they just don't know how to follow it.

    dangerfield,

It's hard to say what else. Republicans are a bunch of dunces.

A Club of Liars, Demagogues and Ignoramuses

A Commentary by Marc Pitzke of the German news source

    ~snips~

The US Republican race is dominated by ignorance, lies and scandals. The current crop of candidates have shown such a basic lack of knowledge that they make George W. Bush look like Einstein. The Grand Old Party is ruining the entire country's reputation.

Africa is a country. In Libya, the Taliban reigns. Muslims are terrorists; most immigrants are criminal; all Occupy protesters are dirty. And women who feel sexually harassed -- well, they shouldn't make such a big deal about it.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the US Republicans.

Worse: They're ruining the reputation of the United States.

    'Freakshow'

They lie. They cheat. They exaggerate. They bluster. They say one idiotic, ignorant, outrageous thing after another. They've shown such stark lack of knowledge -- political, economic, geographic, historical -- that they make George W. Bush look like Einstein and even cause their fellow Republicans to cringe.

    Factually Challenged

And so the farce continues. The more mind-boggling its incarnations, the happier the US media are to cheer first one clown and then the next, elevating and then eliminating "frontrunners" in reliable news cycles of about 45 days.

    Good for Ratings

What a nice club that is. A club of liars, cheaters, adulterers, exaggerators, hypocrites and ignoramuses. "A starting point for a chronicle of American decline," was how David Remnick, the editor of the New Yorker, described the current Republican race.

The Tea Party would take issue with that assessment. They cheer the loudest for the worst, only to see them fail, as expected, one by one. Which goes to show that this "movement," sponsored by Fox News, has never been interested in the actual business of governing or in the intelligence and intellect that requires. They are only interested in marketing themselves, for ratings and dollars.

Imagine if Obama made a TV ad saying "vote for me, I'm a better Christian than Perry." He wouldn't, because Obama understands what faith really means, it's not a tool to get yourself elected.

"Obama understands what faith really means"

Obama said he learned all his religion from the famous Reverend Wright:

    "God Damn America"

After that, he left Wright's congregation for political reasons....so he could get elected.

People that 'learn ALL their religion from their pastor', are the same people that are drawn to the Jim Joneses of this world, Bobster.

How do YOU know what Obama did or didn't do with his church-going decisions, or what he did or did not glean from his church-going, anyway??

This from the guy who's Prayer-a-palooza before he announced was one of the most shameless, naked, suck-up events, more befitting a jackass like Pat Robertson than a sitting governor of a state in a country that was founded by people who were trying to get away from religious tyranny.

And don't we have ENOUGH people telling them God spoke and told them to run for President? Haven't seen this many people hearing voices in their heads since I watched Sybil.

Most people believe there is a god(s), but that does not mean they actually know who God is. Even Satan believe in God with fear and trembling, yet he is the enemy of God.

Knowing that god(s) exist and living is in the will of God are two different things. Some people worship a god that they know not.

As far as Perry is concern, I will not try to judge him, nor the so called right wing, evangelicals... This I can say with a great degree of accuracy, they are very, very, religious people/groups. Politically speaking, they have fake values. In fact, the make Rev. Wright look loke a saint.
