Jindal: Perry has 'a great story to tell'

Despite Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s slide in the 2012 Republican presidential polls, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, one of Perry’s most high-profile supporters, has confidence in his pick.

“Bottom line is, I think Rick has got a great record to run on, a great story to tell,” Jindal said Thursday on MSNBC’s “The Daily Rundown with Chuck Todd.”

In the wake of some verbal gaffes this week by Perry in New Hampshire, in which he said the voting age is 21 instead of 18 and the presidential election will be on Nov. 12th instead of Nob. 6th, Jindal stressed Perry’s “executive experience” and “track record.”

“We’re not going to have the best debater, the most-polished speaker," Jindal said. "President Obama is probably one of the best speakers I’ve seen in a generation in politics, but I think the American people are tired of the speeches."

Jindal also said he would be comfortable with a choice between former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich if Perry’s campaign ends in failure.

“Absolutely," he said, "I’m going to support whoever our nominee is."

NBC News’ Carrie Dann reports Jindal will join Perry for fundraisers in Texas on Dec. 6th and campaign with him in Iowa later this month.

"Absolutely," he said, "I'm going to support whoever our nominee is."

I think Brooke made a typo when she wrote this up. I'm quite sure Jindal said, "I'm going to support whoever our zombie is."

Even so, who in the hell would ever listen to what Jindal's got to say? He's as stupid as the rest of them.

Hey, Feisty- I forgot to ask you if you like my 'avatar'? It's a photo that was given to me of one of my past dates down at the ol' malt shop.

Ooops- I took another look to see why you'd say that, and realized I posted the photo that was taken from the other end.

Really -- The problem with the GOP/TP is they have all told a few too many "good stories" (except Ron Paul who is just a couple of centuries behind). Hmm, did Perry approach Jindal with a VP proposal?

Sure, Perry has a great story to tell, now if only he could remember what it was.

I think the real question is whether or not the story is the truth.

Well, hopefully there is only a 1st event and a 2nd event because Heaven forbid if there is a 3rd event to "his story" and he forgets it, people are going to start to think that it was Perry who was with VP Cheney and that he got a hole blew in his head.

“We’re not going to have the best debater, the most-polished speaker,"

Heck he might not even be able to remember more than one thing at a time, he may need assistance tying his shoes and finding the bathroom in his own home, but I think the American people are tired of things like minimal competence and cognition. People want change and Rick Perry has a pocket full of it..."

Perry provides results that no other candidate can claim. I just don’t give a d*mn how he debates. If that mattered, I’d have voted for Barack or gotten behind Romney. Records matter. Nothing else. Would I prefer Perry be perfect, sure. But I don’t let imperfection become the enemy of *real damn good.* If we had political punditry that revolved around policy comparison on salient issues instead of the more sensationalistic discussion of how a gaffe will impact polling, they’d really be worth listening to. They’d be contributing to, and elevating, the political discourse and perhaps even participation in the electoral process in this country. But most of what I see (and read) isn’t about policy. It’s about a beauty pageant.

Perry may or may not have a great story. But based on debate performances, he'd have to hire someone else to tell it.
