Cain on campaign status: '9-9-9. We're doing fine'

Herman Cain responded to a question from NBC News in Michigan today about whether he has plans to drop out of the presidential race. Cain said, "9-9-9. 9-9-9. We're doing fine."

HILLSDALE, MI -- Herman Cain brushed off a question about whether he plans to drop out of the race for the GOP presidential nomination, returning to a familiar refrain: his "9-9-9" tax plan.

Ahead of a foreign policy speech planned this evening in Michigan, Cain dodged a question about whether he plans to abandon his presidential ambitions after having told staff this morning that he would spend the next two days reassessing his campaign.

"9-9-9. 9-9-9. We're doing fine," Cain told NBC News upon leaving his hotel at Hillsdale College for his speech on campus tonight.

Cain's campaign has downplayed the reassessment, framing it as a routine examination of the campaign's trajectory.

"Mr. Cain told staff simply that, just as every time significant events occur, a reassessment is prudent," deputy campaign manager Linda Hansen said this afternoon. "A good businessman looks at the entire landscape before making decisions. He is, and has been, committed to promoting the issues and solutions that will make this nation stronger. Nothing about that has changed."

Herman Cain said that he had a lot of things twirling around in his head. Must be he had a lot of things twirling around in his pants too.

Who in their right mind wants this clown directing foreign policy during an international crisis? China, North Korea, Iran, Pakistan, none of them would take you guys seriously and the whole world would suffer. Same thing if you get Bachmann, Gingrich, Perry or whoever the flavour of the week is. You GOPers can talk about how bad a job Obama has done, but how many Republicans saw bin Laden and Gaddafi killed on their watch? I'd say Obama is the guy I want handling foreign policy when some of the aforementioned countries get out of hand

Cain the Stain is undoubtably livin' in an alternate/parallel universe. Hopefully, someone will slap some sense into his ignorant head.

The man-cartoon is nuthin' but comedic fodder for SNL, and the other late nite shows.

BTW...anyone know what his book is about? Just slightly curious...

I liked Herman Cain and am sorry to see these charges arise. It's too bad he's not a democrat - that seems to propel them to greater popularity (Bill Clinton; Barney Frank). If these charges are true and I suspect at least some of them are, I think you'll see his support dwindle pretty quickly. It's because conservatives value character that he won't survive this. I grieve that so many of you are enjoying this. When I saw it with Bill Clinton and now with Herman Cain, it grieves me that our leaders lack moral fiber.

The trend began with George Washington and includes notables such as Eisenhower, Kennedy, Clinton and others. The problem is not only that adultery is a despicable act and a sign of lack of morality, but the fact that the GOP in their zest to destroy the credibility of an opponent made adultery a litmus test to qualify for the Office of the Presidency. They now find themselves in the uncomfortable position nof not only having one pervert but two perverts running, and one of them went as far as serving divorce papers to his first wife while she was in a hospital battling cancer.

@Steve Larson-282530- The reason it would seem democrats like Clinton, JFK and others get away with it is because they do not go around speaking up family values and or want to regulate how people live their lives. They act like human beings with faults and are apologetic when caught. The repugs on the other hand are walking around regulating the womb and the bedroom to others and not themselves. Furthermore, they want to demonize the women involved in lieu of saying sorry, I am human. For example, we have former Senator Ensign sleeping with his aides wife. Or Vitter going to prostitutes. Or the classic Ginrich himself sleeping with his current wife while married to his last wife and the hypocrite was chastising Clinton for getting a BJ. Do you see how when the repugs get busted we make them pay for it?

Cain is old news...it's not surprising; it's his own fault. Let's not blame Prez O for this economy. Corporate America began shipping jobs overseas decades ago, but still depend on America to buy the products after moving their jobs. Let's make the stockholders happy. Something is backwards here. The President obviously cannot stop Corporations from moving jobs to other countries. But I do believe that he should have come up with a jobs plan after year one.

Mr. Cain must reassess his ability to think rationally, consider the consequences of his decisions not only for himself and his family, but for his party and followers. Cain, Perry, Newt, Palin, TGrump and Bachman have done more damage to the GOP than anything President Obama and the DNC could ever dream of doing.

I doubt he thinks he has a chance to win the nomination, but I would not be surprised if he still hopes to be on someone's ticket or get a senior position in a GOP administration. Considering his record and the damage he has done to the GOP he will be lucky to get a job delivering pizzas to the White House.

I'm confused. Newt Gingrich cheated on his wife, and informed her he was divorcing her when she was dying from cancer. Why is this OK? Is it because we already knew about it before the campaign started?

Any one in their right mind couldn’t possibly vote for this scumbag in light of all that has surfaced about his questionable actions half truths and out and out lies. This moron is delusional for thinking even for a second that he is actually presidential material. He has so totally made himself out to be a clown that he doesn’t need help from anyone else. He is a poor excuse for a man and don’t even mention his standing as a husband and father; what an absolute joke this guys is. What really adds to the outrageousness of his behavior is how flip his is when confronted with the truth about what an unprincipled pig he actually is. To come off with “999 we’re doing fine,” shows what an absolute disconnect this guy is suffering from. He needs to come to terms with the fact that he is done and that his campaign for all intents and purposes is over, finished. What doesn’t he understand here???? The sad part is that he did it all to himself so for him to try and play the victim is nothing short of outrageous.

The up side is that I am already looking forward to seeing this scumbag hit the wall when he just plains has to face the fact that it’s over and that he needs to step to one side and start thinking about how he is going to keep his wife from divorcing for his cheating and low life lying behavior. This is the POS that I am looking forward to following on the news after the fact because it is highly likely that this is how it is going to end for the new mouth from the south big Daddy Cain!!!

Anyone remember the Iraqi defense officials claiming that everything's fine on live TV, despite US fighters zooming around in the background, dropping bombs and drowning out the talk with huge explosions? I suppose Uncle Tom needs to maintain some visibility to ensure the success of his inevitable follow-up talk show or product endorsements.
