Gingrich: No comment on Cain affair story

Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain has denied having a 13-year affair with Ginger White, an Atlanta businesswoman who claims an intermittent relationship with Cain that ended a few months ago. NBC's Lisa Myers reports.

Although he’s previously had words of support of Herman Cain in the midst of his sexual harassment allegations, Newt Gingrich refused to comment tonight on a woman’s claim tonight that she had an affair with the former Godfather’s CEO.

When asked by NBC News if he had a comment on “Herman Cain” (before the reporter could finish the question), Gingrich responded, “No. Nope, nope, nope. No comments.”

Asked if he knew what the reporter was trying to ask, Gingrich said, “I thought it was possible.”

Gingrich then waved goodbye to the reporter’s camera.

The former House speaker spoke positively of Cain, and his ability to address the allegations of sexual harassment against him, on November 11th during an appearance on CBS’s Early Show.

NBC's David Gregory and Chuck Todd discuss the impact the extra-marital affair claims against GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain will have on Cain's campaign and the overall Republican field.

“Up to now he seems to have satisfied most people that the allegations aren't proven, and that having people who hold press conferences isn't the same as a conviction. So I think people are giving him the benefit of the doubt,” Gingrich had said.

Of course Newt can't comment - he's had more affairs than Ashley-Madison.com has sold.

Yea,Newt said, " it would be inappropriate for me to comment on Herman boinking woman after woman,in cars and apartments and just seemingly everywhere. He is married so it would not be appropriate for me to mention that that makes it a way worse moral matter".....no,I just won't comment....what he does...over and over again,is not for me to judge....so I won't have any comment....

What doesn't Herman Cain get about this? He is being outed by the GOP, they are not going to allow TWO BLACK MEN to run for President. Cain was the GOP's token house negro from day one. Geez Herman, you should know better, and I suggest you ask Haley Barbour about how this all got started

        Ali,

i didn't say he deserved that role. I said it is the one assigned to him BY HIS OWN PARTY, then when he became TOO SUCCESSFUL, they decided it was time to throw the uppity house negro under the bus. That is their decision not mine! Again, I suggest you review Haley Barbours comments on the Cain issue--very interesting to say the least!

This guy is the perfect GOP candidate to talk or even help with Cains affairs and harassment! He can help cain leave his wife or find a mistress in a matter of days. This is a good sign that the GOP is helping one another. By the way I love the "teatards" name!! its perfect!!

There is nothing like having a steady squeeze to meet you on business trips. You both fly into down on seperate flights check into the hotel, same floor, have dinner in a great restaurant or your room, a few martinis, some good conversation, great sex, breakfast in the room in the morning, more great sex, and then you head out for the day with pleasant memories and true inspiration. The whole experience just reaffirms your power and influence, makes you a little more compassionate and forgiving.

                Dirt,

Experience counts. Thing is I am not married, not dumb enough to wear a pimp hat on TV while I deny having affairs, nor would I think my adventures would stay hidden while I RUN FOR PRESIDENT for Christ sakes. Women can be fun but you can't trust them, especially if your having sexual adventures with them!

Exactly what would it take to convince you? If you held a videotape of Herman Cain engaged in illicit sex in your hand, would it be a forgery, part of a "set up"? I don't envy you for the mental work you're having to do to continue your support for Cain.

Cain and Suh ( Detroit Lions), should run together since neither thinks their actions are wrong in that fantasy world they created for themselves.

I'd imagine Newt will keep his mouth shut about "affairs" as he is too busy trying to keep the lid on his own dirty laundry. Such as raking in millions from government sponsored mortgage giants Fannie and Freddie. But just bubbling to the surface within the past 24 hours is his advocacy (lobbying) for Bush's prescription drug bill (Medicare Part D). He was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by Big Pharma to lobby congressional members who opposed the plan. Neither Newt nor any of his subsidiaries are or ever have been registered as lobbyists. The crotch will probably dispose of Cain but Newt's amassed fortune of almost $110-million from influence pedaling will most likely derail his campaign ~ and may result in criminal charges and indictment. Looks like Romney needs to get his suit cleaned ~ he'll probably be back in the lead among candidates by next week.

Right Wingers like you just don't understand and by the way I am a independent. It's the party you support that was taken over by the Christian right that made family values an issue. Doesn't matter whether your candidates talk about it or not it is the platform of your party. The difference between progressives and people like you is progressive never made moral the key issue for voting against someone people like you have. you are the same people who refused to vote for Al Gore because of bill Clinton's affair. you are the same people who wanted him impeach why the people that were pushing the impeachment were doing things a lot worse than he was. I.e Newt Gingrich. people like you vote on ideology. If the If the repilbican's at the top of the ticket were molesting kids people like you would find a way to rationalize it and vote for them yet the very man Obama who personfies the essence of a family man you hate everything about him. He has two beautiful daughters and has no infidelity in his life and trust me if he had people in your crowd would have found it by now. I can assure you they turned over every rock looking for dirt on this guy. But self righteous people like you want vote for this moral guy no you rahter vote for the immoral inept clowns that is runnning on your ticket. One last thing uninformed people like you don't understand, the deficit under Bush would have been a lot higher if they had counted the two unfunded wars and medicare prescrition drug bill however facts like that just never seem to matter with people like you. Any of the people like ever take a math class. Obama diefict is higher because he actually counted them in the budget and didn't do it on credit however I guess Fox news leaves that part out when talking to people like you.

I happen to agree with you far too many Democrats have for 30 years promoted "charity" over work hard for what you make. Is that what Newt did? b.c. you seem to be implying that that is the case?! LOL if that's what you think!? My guess you haven't read a book or watched a news channel that challenges any part of your belief system in twenty years either. So let's re-wind! I said American Greed. I didn't lay it at any Republican's Feet - clean or otherwise. However, since you brought up the subject can you round the square that is Newts "Christian Values" with his behavior because I see only one of the two men I'm guessing your referring to who actually has maintained any semblance of "Christian Values" at least as it relates to marriage and fidelity. How about you? Have you slept around on your Cancer stricken wife?

What amazes me about people like you is I am willing to bet you some of your family members have gotten some of those so call freebies. Unless you are wealthy I can assure you there are family members of your familt that will be relying on things like medicare and social security and clearly if you are going to school more than likely you are someone in your family are using student loans. My problem with people like you is where were your concerns about deficits during the previous years I bet you were not in street worried about the deficits then like you claim you are now, Where were the marches on Washington. The difference with independents and people like you is we don't vote on ideology we vote on issues and not just one. I don't care what color or party the cat belongs to as long as he gets the mice. People like you would rather be run over by mice if the cat is a democrat rather than a republican. In other words you would rather have nothing than to have a democrat give you antyhing. That not just an ideology that is a sickness. When are right wingers like you going to admit it's not the man policies you have an issue with its him maybe his color. Sad we still have people in the country like that. Even when he espouses your policies you are against him. I grew up in the south and do you want to know why some areas in the south still look like they did before the 60's because those people spent there entire life trying to hold another race of people back. There is an old saying you can't hold me down unless you stay down with me which means you want go anywhere either.

As soon as you admit Ricky that the mans policies have destroyed the country. Lets blow your theory out of the water Barack Obama is half white two: Barack Obama would have never been elected unless a majority of whites voted for him. So do yourself a favor stop the white and conservatives are racist line. It really doe not serve you well. You want to talk about the concern with deficits well lets lay it on the line I heard nothing but complaints from Democrats over how much Republicans and Bush spent over his time frame, but in three short year Obama spent 3 times as much as Bush spent in 8 years. Its not sustainable as much as I know you want to keep the welfare state going. Someone has to pay the bill and even if you taxed the super rich to a 100% of what they make it wont make a dent in the deficit. It has to stop and trust me the Republicans are telling you the truth were as your liberal friends continue to lie about this subject. At the end of the meal some one has to pay the bill.

                                                      Well Ricky Lib-

I have a mixed race marriage and my wife is even more conservative than I am. Neither of us nor our 3 black sons, our 2 black Daughter-in-laws would ever vote for a Stalinist like Obama. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SKIN COLOR.

It has to do with The Stalinist Democrats addiction to centralized power and marxist collectivism through theft from those who produce.

Medicare and Social Security are for wimps. My grandparents didn't use them, my parents didn't use them. I'm 62 and I hate that I have paid into that marxist system that promotes socialism.

We kicked out the Republicans in 2006 for spending like Democrats. And then Pelosi and Reid proved that they cannot go without their addiction to spending other people's money.

                                                        Smart move there Newt...

Cause the MSM would have pounced if you had tried to pull the old "Holier than Thou" Republican line... and you would be flashing back to the good old days of stepping down from House Speaker...

Newt is immoral but not stupid. Cain never had a chance of being elected and Newt's previous support worked nicely against Mitt Romney. And now that Cain is out of the picture himself, and with Romney stuck at around 28% because he's a closet liberal and a member of a cult, who else is left? The other candidates -- one by one -- have been vetted and dropped. That leaves Newt Gingrich.

True, he has all this baggage -- mutliple affairs, curious financial dealings, lies, being thrown out of the House, and so on and so on -- but the public has a way of forgetting these things, especially on the extreme right.

After all, Newt was involved in all this stuff way back in the 1990s. Cheese, that's fifteen years ago. Many who will now support Newt couldn't even vote then. It took Nixon less than half that time to be elected President of the United States although, granted, Newt Gingrich makes Richard Nixon look like St. Francis of Assisi.

People are selectively forgetful and, generally, know nothing of history. Newt shouldn't be underestimated. Of course, a lot depends on what Rush and Fox have to say.

Those who discount Newt do it at thier own peril. You progressives would do well to be careful what you wish for you might just get it.

Bill Clinton committed adultery. Cain is accused of sexual harassment. Quite a bit different, don't you think? Good grief. Posters on here seem to think it is the same thing. That is almost as disturbing as Cain's history.

Clinton was a lowlife who lied to a federal grand jury and was prosecuted appropriately for that crime. Cain is not even in the same league with that serial rapist.

What was the result of the prosecution? An impeachment that was overturned. Clinton's personal life should have never been an area investigated to the extent that it was by the House (led by Newt).
