Gingrich: No comment on Cain affair story

Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain has denied having a 13-year affair with Ginger White, an Atlanta businesswoman who claims an intermittent relationship with Cain that ended a few months ago. NBC's Lisa Myers reports.

Although he’s previously had words of support of Herman Cain in the midst of his sexual harassment allegations, Newt Gingrich refused to comment tonight on a woman’s claim tonight that she had an affair with the former Godfather’s CEO.

When asked by NBC News if he had a comment on “Herman Cain” (before the reporter could finish the question), Gingrich responded, “No. Nope, nope, nope. No comments.”

Asked if he knew what the reporter was trying to ask, Gingrich said, “I thought it was possible.”

Gingrich then waved goodbye to the reporter’s camera.

The former House speaker spoke positively of Cain, and his ability to address the allegations of sexual harassment against him, on November 11th during an appearance on CBS’s Early Show.

NBC's David Gregory and Chuck Todd discuss the impact the extra-marital affair claims against GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain will have on Cain's campaign and the overall Republican field.

“Up to now he seems to have satisfied most people that the allegations aren't proven, and that having people who hold press conferences isn't the same as a conviction. So I think people are giving him the benefit of the doubt,” Gingrich had said.

Thank you Republican Party for bring humor and idiocy to the race. Thank you GOP through your short sighted candidates to ensure that Obama has another 4 years. Thank you GOP for removing yourself from contention for at least a decade.

Mc Cain and Gingrich are sinners, but they can be saved if they come to Jesus.

Gingrich (Mr Family Values) is on his third wife,...the one he buys all the expensive jewelry for at Tiffani's ($500K),...remember ?

He knows that he lives in a glass house.

    Herman Cain is completely UNELECTABLE.

    He's become a true embarassment.

The entire GOP field is in shambles,....hypocrisy, incompetence, flip-flopping, all style, no substance,...and a $500K bill at Tiffani's. We'll ALLLL remember who these guys are at election time - believe you me.

Cain never belonged in the race in the first place. He has next to no experience at all. He was CLEARLY a shill put in place to try and gain some of the minority vote for the GOP, which usually sees very little of the minority vote. Cain was a PLOY,...not an actual candidate. Some people didn't get the joke.

VOTE Obama in 2012,...for the American public.

Oh come on, Newter. You can at least give him some advice on how to lie his way out of it. Maybe suggest to him he should tell everyone he did it because he loves his country too much.

Truthfully, I believe that 'sex/romance/etc. scandals be relegated to the category of 'that's human nature' for once and for all.

Look, we've had creepy old Congressmen in bathrooms; 'foot tapping' I think it's called. We have them everywhere with with prostitutes, including a state Attorney General. We have horny young Congressmen posing on facebook or whatever. We've had a Congressional Page sex scandal that involved both parties.

We've had beautiful young princesses killed because they simply wanted their privacy; trying to escape the lascivious Press.

Sexual tendencies of all kinds can appear. That's a consequence of the human animal. Stop making such a big deal about it. Everyone who reads these words has some skeleton of their own they're not especially proud of in this particular department; sometimes well into their adulthood.

steven --- on first blush it sounds good, until you look at the party of values that wraps itself in the american flag and holds up the bible while looking down on the democrats. they truly represent the party of greed, hate, intolerance for their fellow man, crookedness, filth and dirt.

Gingrich should be last one to make a comment on Cain's affair. All I can think of him saying is, "Been there, done that". Also if I recall correctly, Newt also denied having an affair, when it was first reported. So he not only was lying to his wife, but also to the American people.

Ask Newt about his affairs, you'll see his head spin and be speechless (for once)

There's no such thing as " Family Values " in politics. Politics is so dirty in this country & has been. Obama was our 1st terrorist running for president according to Fox News with all it's honesty back in 2008. Little Bush Jr played with his toy soldiers Cheney bought him for Xmas in 2000. John Edwards & Gingrich were fighting over the same lesbian & they didn't know it. Wall Street will win the election of 2012!
