Cain denies new allegation of affair

NBC's David Gregory and Chuck Todd discuss the impact the extra-marital affair claims against GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain will have on Cain's campaign and the overall Republican field.

A new woman alleged a 13-year-long affair with Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain on Monday, prompting the former Godfather's Pizza CEO to issue fresh denials of any wrongdoing.

Cain sought to offer a pre-buttal to an Atlanta FOX affiliate's report featuring a woman who alleges she maintained an affair with Cain.

Cain offered no specific rebuttals to any of the forthcoming claims, explaining that he would not respond to allegations before the report had aired them. But he did acknowledge a relationship with the new woman, whom he called an "acquaintance" that he had tried to help.

"We will address these when they come out. At this point, I just want to give you a heads-up, I don't have anything to hide," Cain said on CNN.

Ginger White, an Atlanta woman, told FOX affiliate WAGA that she engaged in a 13-year-long affair with Cain, which she said ended only months ago.

The woman is just the latest accuser of Cain, whose once-promising White House bid has been weighed down by a series of women to have come forward and accused him of sexual misconduct; other women have accused Cain of harassment, not an affair. Some of the women have made the claims publicly, while others' identities have not been made public.

Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain has denied having a 13-year affair with Ginger White, an Atlanta businesswoman who claims an intermittent relationship with Cain that ended a few months ago. NBC's Lisa Myers reports.

Still, Cain lumped the forthcoming allegation with the previous ones, which he has steadfastly denied and called "baseless." When asked specifically if he had an affair with this latest accuser, Cain replied: "No, it was not."

Cain's attorney responded to the FOX affiliate in more evasive terms: "This appears to be an accusation of private, alleged consensual conduct between adults - a subject matter which is not a proper subject of inquiry by the media or the public. No individual, whether a private citizen, a candidate for public office or a public official, should be questioned about his or her private sexual life," attorney Lin Wood said.

The businessman's campaign had blamed a variety of opponents -- from fellow Republican contenders, to Democrats -- for the trickle of accusers, and Cain himself indicated Monday that he thought the latest allegation stemmed from someone who wished to slow his campaign.

"What this says is that somebody's awfully afraid that I'm doing too well in this Republican nomination, to continue to dig up these stories to put a cloud and a damper on my campaign," he said without accusing a campaign or person specifically.

A woman has gone public with what she says was a 13-year consensual affair with presidential hopeful Herman Cain. But Cain is denying the story. NBC's Lisa Myers reports.

Cain also emphasized that he continued to carry on with his campaign, though he acknowledged for the first time that, if the media scrutiny of his personal life takes too large of a toll on his family, he might drop his White House bid.

"I'm not going to allow this sort of thing to cause me to drop out simply because it's tough on me," he said. "I don't want it to be tough on my family, and there comes a point where, if it's tough on my family, I have to consider that at that particular point and time."

When asked specifically about whether that would mean he could drop out, Cain said: "I'll make that decision dependent on the circumstances of how it's impacting my wife and my family."

Herman, for the sake of the country stay in. I hope someone claims they saw Herman in a shower at Penn State. While the media is attacking you they are not attacking everyone else as much. If the accusations turn out to be false then we can point to the media as being bias and ruining your campaign. You might even get a few law suits going and run for senate next. If not it's over.

Well at least he wasn't poking cigars inside his female help in the Oval Office then smoking them later and bragging about like Clinton did....then lied under oath about the whole deal. What about that low life Vice Presidential candidate Edwards??? Screwing some girl while his wife is dying of cancer...knocking her up...Lying about it for along time…then illegally using campaign funds for his girlfriend and his new bastard child...Hmmm liberal hypocrisy at its best talking about Cain.

Wow why cant we believe that Repugs have numerous adulterous affairs but we can spend 60 million dollars on a charge led by Newt (while he was doinking someone other than his wife)against Bill Clinton. Oh thats right we believed WMD's were in Iraq too.

Bill Clinton has sex in the Oval Office with an intern. Tell me how that is Presidential?

Both parties reviewed the data on the unaccounted WMD's, there is proof they existed just not proof what Iraq did with them after Desert Storm. Both parties were right or both parties are guilty. Or maybe the Dems passed on reading the information like they passed on reading the ObamaCare bill before they voted.

Mr. Cain doesn't have a clue about global economics and he has sexually harassed women in the work place and he cheats on his wife. Why does anyone want to listen to him anymore?

Answer, American's are desperate for a president to lead us to be more competitive in the world economy and unfortunately most American's have no idea what is needed for this country to become more competitive again and so they listen people like Mr. Cain who were a waste of time from the very beginning.

Can you spell Bill Clinton? What about Larry Sinclair? I heard all the harassment accusers were from Chicago - what a coincidence. If you attack Obama you are racist, but its ok to smear Herman Cain. There is a double standard here. So what if Cain reportedly messed with a few wormen. Obama is messing with the entire nation.

It is pretty humorous for one GOP candidate to say it is nobody's business, while another tried his best to oust a President for the same thing. Can't have it both ways guys. Of course, I don't think any of you have what it takes to be President.

Blacks need to stop letting America down.

If even Herman Cain is a moral degenerate, I don't know where we go from here.

The community's statistics related to crime, murder, poverty, out of wedlock kids, obesity, teen pregnancy, divorce etc are despicable and make America look bad when compared to other nations. People make assumptions about America in general based on problems we have in a couple communities.

President Obama appears to be, on the surface, a good family man, even though he's a Democrat, and definitely the black community and America need this to remain the case for his entire life.

We don't have many black role models to look up to. We don't have many public black figures who stay married to one woman their whole lives without whoring around.

    Herman Cain's campaign is dead.

I'm still looking for a good rightwing black person to run for higher office. Condi? never has anything interesting to say, just diplomatic cliches...Colin? ok he was good, albeit a liberal Repub...

The two new black Republican House members both seem good, fingers crossed they can stand up under the strain and still be good people at the end of the day.

C'mon blacks, meet the challenge. More good dad/husband types in public life, less people with the sexual morals of a stray dog.

That is part of the reason that Cain needed Secret Service protection. I opine that the other reason he required protection was due to threats from white supremacists revolving around his tendency to harass blond women.

Let's face it. Sixty years ago their would be no "high tech" in the lynching he would have received in America.

      The moral compass of
the Republican Party is so far off. It points straight to Hell. I was driving
down the street today thinking about an incident that happened in an affluent
community in Kansas about 10 or 15 years ago. A teacher with integrity caught
about 50 seniors cheating on a very important exam. Now this exam was very
important to there GPA and future college placement. She of course did the
right thing and flunked the entire group. The parents of these affluent little
cheaters stormed the school demanded that their children be given passing
grades on the test and the teacher terminated. And If my memory serves me right
      that is exactly what happened.

Is it no wonder that children from affluent families feel that the weight for this country should be
carried on the backs of the middle class. They demand that we hoist their
thrones upon our backs and smile when they bless us with their flatulence. And
a lot of you idiots are more than happy to do it. Cracks me the heck up!

And the "affluent" families are in which community?

So sure are you about these "affluent" famlies being Republican?

If you are referring to this incident....

Tracy you are wrong you dont even have to get close to the western edge of Kansas City Kansas before the the vote turns Republican. Bonner, Piper, Basheor all those communities are (R) strong holds. So claiming Wy county is a (D) strong hold that effects the 3 communities mentioneb above is wrong. And yes Piper and Baesheor are more affluent that KCK. And yes I stand by the fact that Republicans are immoral. And Kans. is a Republican State, they will pick D Govenors but they hardly ever send (D) congressional seats to Wash.

"Bonner, Piper, Basheor all those communities are (R) strong holds."

I gave proof that Wyandotte County is a Democrat stronghold yet you offer no evidence that the parents who were up in arms over the grades were Republican. Do you have any?

"And yes Piper and Baesheor are more affluent that KCK."

And yet you presume that "affluent" means they are cheaters as well as Republican? Again offer some evidence that the political affiliation of the parents who stuck up for the cheating kids are Republican.

"And yes I stand by the fact that Republicans are immoral."

The land "deal" with Tony Rezko...not going to talk about it. Bill Ayers hosting a party for Obama during his run for the Senate...the media didn't touch it. I would say that Obama has been handled with kid gloves, he's the darling of the media because he's a socialist just like them. Bill Clinton had sex in the Oval Office with an intern. His DNA (sperm) was all over her dress where she dribbled from the BJ she gave him. If you this that is OK and proper presidential behavior, heaven help us all.

@haraoldwolf - no one condoned that - why is it that you can't just deal with the present and instead dredge up history. Clinton finally admitted it and it's time for Cain to do the same.................
