Arizona's controversial Sheriff Arpaio set to endorse Rick Perry

NBC News has confirmed with a source familiar with the matter that Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona, will endorse Rick Perry this week.

Arpaio will campaign with Perry in New Hampshire this week, the source said.

The Arizona sheriff is known as a vehement backer of tough immigration laws and was a vocal supporter of his own state's controversial enforcement laws.

Perry critics have described him as soft on immigration since the Florida debate, when he called opponents "heartless" for deriding his policy of in-state tuition for children of illegal immigrants in Texas.

I think Perry's quest for the presidency has just reached the point of no return.

Maybe he ought to lick his wounds and limp back to Texas.

Kind of hard to watch really.

But so are car crashes.

Feisty Redhead Roselle, IL must be an Imbecile to make a bigoted comment like this? Why do ignorant liberals make comments like this? Is this what makes them tick. ignorance is huge with the liberal fabric. No wonder we have a awful government in office. I'm sure you voted for Obama and his "change you can believe in" slogan? Where is the change?

Alan, I'm a little confused. What is bigoted about Feisty's post. You might not agree with it, but that does not make it bigoted.

Texan here. Even the politicians Perry has dragged up the ladder with him are starting to abandon him here. Combs was the latest, dropping the proposed slush fund advance for F1 racing mogul Bernie Ecclestone. We don't really want him here either, it's just hard to get rid of him.

Kinda surprised that Arpaio would endorse Perry, who's not racist enough for Sheriff Joe. Perry's out of the running anyway....shot himself in the foot enough times to go through a few pairs of shoes. But then he can always go back to Texas and execute another dozen or so folks...so he still has something to look forward to.

Vic, slanderous?

LOL, I've read all the posts so far and no lies. Use Google and do some homework.

You'll find it's TRUE Arpaio has cost Maricopa County taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars in misappropriated funds, lawyers' fees, legal settlements.

Check out Arpaio's rate of cases "closed by exception" ie, nothing was done, no investigation, it's TRUE Arpaio did NOTHING.

Check out Arpaio's handling of the 400 cases of rape and assault cases in El Mirage. Again, it's TRUE, Arpaio did nothing in ANY of these cases!

It's TRUE there are over 40,000 unserved warrants Arpaio refuses to do anything about.

WASILLA: You see Sheriff Joe has spent most of his time sending all his files to attorney general Eric Holder, who has launched a title VI investigation (Civil Rights Violations), but despite a few years of investigation, Holder still has not been able to pin anything on Sheriff Joe. Hopefully it will be Holder who is resigning or being fired. It depends on how long the President can carry him.

Vic, slanderous?

Google Andrew Thomas and Lisa Aubuchon's disbarrment hearings, the Munnell memo, command staff Dave Hendershott, Larry Black and Joel Fox, Deputy Alfredo Navarette and detention officers Sylvia Najera and Marcella Hernandez. You'll find corruption and abuse of power by both Arpaio and in his organization, top to bottom.

Google Juan Mendoza. Read about the $1 million dollar settlement we're paying his family for his wrongful death. Make sure you take a look at the autopsy photos of Mr. Mendoza's body. Pay special attention to the details of the abuse this man suffered from Arpaio's deputies, abuse that resulted in Mr. Mendoza's death.

You see Sheriff Joe has spent most of his time sending all his files to attorney general Eric Holder

LOL, I call BS on your post.

In fact, the investigation into Arpaio's abuse of power and racial profiling began under the Bush administration.

In fact, until recently, and only the feds went to court to compel Arpaio to comply, Arpaio REFUSED to cooperate with the feds regarding their investigation, which as a recipient of federal dollars, he is required to do.

In fact, Arpaio spends little, if any time, managing the MCSO and/or dealing with any administrative functions.

In fact, Arpaio spends most of his time pimping in front of media cameras.

In fact, the feds have been attending the Thomas/Aubuchon disbarrment hearings. Once that case wraps up, which has detailed much of Arpaio's abuse of power, the feds will get on with their investigation of Arpaio.

Ooooooo, 'libtard', now there's an original attempt at an insult. Yep, that whole paragraph shows a sharp mind, with high intellect, and superior reasoning skills. Your former teachers must be proud.

Anyway, if Rick Perry's good enough for Sheriff Joe than he's good enough for me.

That really doesn't put your thinking, and reasoning skills in a very good light. Considering the problems the sheriff has, has caused, and continues to cause for the citizens of Maricopa County by his actions, and inaction, you might want to reconsider your reliance on anything the sheriff says, or does. Or are you one of those people who is incapable of thinking for themselves?

You sure you don't look good in pink, Matthew?

Ego joe believes he still lives in the 'old' west, where the sheriff can run roughshod over elected officials and citizens. He even decides what is and isn't law. His laughable pursuit of illegal immigrants is pathetic, he spends millions on rounding them up like any good ole' boy sheriff, he has succeeded in arresting a few hundred. Of course, they aren't violent felons, those guys get a pass from joe, he hasn't served tens of thousands of of felonly warrants. He doesn't find it important to even start investigations into child sexual abuse cases. It will be interesting to see what comes out in his national bid.

Arpaio misappropriated over $100 million dollars in funds over eight years. There's more, they just didn't audit any further back.

Because Arpaio REFUSED to make necessary jail improvements, our jail lost its NCCCHC accreditation, resulting in higher insurance premiums and deductibles.

AND then there's the unprecidented hundreds of millions of dollars in lawyers' fees and legal settlements, and more to come. Dead inmates, abuse of power.

Arpaio has committed FINANCIAL MALFEASANCE which has cost and continues to cost the Maricopa County taxpayers millions of dollars.
