COLUMBIA, SC -- At least one member of South Carolina’s congressional delegation is excited about the rise of Newt Gingrich: Rep. Joe Wilson.
Wilson, who spoke to NBC News at a town hall here before last night's debate, said he was “intrigued by the surge by Speaker Gingrich,” adding that he thought he was a “person of vision” who, because he’s long been on the national stage, could have the staying power that has eluded other temporary front-runners.
Wilson's comments came before Gingrich said during the debate that he would allow some illegal immigrants -- who have lived in the United States for many years -- to stay in the country.
Illegal immigration is a huge issue in South Carolina, given that portions of the state's newly passed immigration law are being blocked by the Justice Department on grounds that they preempt federal authority.
While Wilson endorsed former candidate Tim Pawlenty earlier in the cycle, he suggested that Pawlenty’s support of Mitt Romney didn’t automatically mean Romney gets Wilson’s endorsement.
“I have great respect for Gov. Romney, I have great respect for the other candidates,” Wilson said, later adding: “One of my favorites is Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. I could go on. Herman Cain certainly has made a very positive impression here in South Carolina.”

Please lord, let the Republicans choose Newt.
Then have Newt pick Joe Wilson or Joe Walsh or Sarah Palin or, well, any of the Tea Partiers as Vice President.
Joe The Plumber would also be a good pick, nisl!
So many Joes, makes it hard to choose!
Chilled - If you want a good laugh go to Youtube and search for Mitt Romney for Obama 2012 video. I'd post a link, but I'm not allowed.
Can't figure out why his opinion is relevant, but it sounds like he's fishing.
Now THERE's a perfect ticket.

Thanks!
nisl....hope this is what you were referring to, I got it and it serves Mittens right!
Hey Am - you catch the voter fraud down there in Georgia today? Looks like voter fraud is an issue in some parts of the country. Kinda like SAT fraud is bad in NY.
Funny thing is the College Board is going to ramp up id req's for the SAT.
chilled - if it is true and no one cares what Joe thinks, why do you suppose FR saw fit to bring us this article?
You think Ali has the hots for him?
Chilled - Oddly, that is the most sincere Romney has ever sounded!
That's all you need to know about him. . . .
Guess what, Spanky. I'm not going to argue with you today, especially not about voter fraud, SAT tests, or other irrelevant matters.
Apparently, you think that. Because that's apparently how you think.
Have a good Thanksgiving, everyone.
Hey Spanky: didn't get far in our exchange yesterday, so I'm posting this for you, so you will have a working knowledge of the discussion (re:OWS)
Top 5 FOX myths to debunk this Thanksgiving
MYTH #1: The congressional Super Committee failed because both sides refuse to compromise.
REALITY: The Super Committee failed because Republicans' number one, non-negotiable priority is to protect millionaires and billionaires from paying even one more penny in taxes.1 Democrats repeatedly offered to make deep spending cuts—far deeper than most progressives would like—in exchange for raising taxes on the wealthy and closing corporate loopholes, only to be refused again and again.2 So even though the vast majority of Americans say they want to protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits, and raise taxes on the rich and corporations,3that won't happen until Republicans put aside their extremist stance.
MYTH #2: Nobody knows what Occupy Wall Street is about.
REALITY: Occupy Wall Street may not have a formal list of demands, but anyone who's been paying attention understands the core problems that occupiers are protesting—that corporations have far too much power in our political system, that Wall Street banks crashed our economy but were never held accountable, and that the richest 400 Americans have more wealth than half of all Americans—156 million people—combined.4
MYTH #3: Occupiers should stop protesting and just get a job.
REALITY: As anybody who's looked for a job in the last few years knows, there just aren't jobs out there. That's a big part of why occupiers are protesting. In September, there were four times as many unemployed people as job openings.5 And for those who are lucky enough to find a job, median wages today are lower than they were a decade ago.6
MYTH #4: Occupy Wall Street is intent on provoking violence, especially against banks and the police.
REALITY: Occupations across the country have committed themselves to nonviolent protest, in the greatest traditions of protest movements. Some of their protests have been met with acts of police violence—tear gas, pepper spray, rubber bullets7—but in many cases, protesters have reminded police that the police officers are part of the 99%, too.8 And in the few cases when people have shown up at Occupy demonstrations and committed acts of vandalism, other protesters have even repaired their acts of vandalism.9
MYTH #5: The biggest crisis facing our country is out of control government spending.
REALITY: The two biggest drivers of our deficit—by far—are the economic crash and the Bush tax cuts.10 We have millions of people out of work, corporations hoarding cash, and factories sitting idle. If we put all those people back to work—rebuilding infrastructure, educating our children, and researching new technologies—it'll shrink the deficit and make our economy stronger for the long haul. And we can easily afford it if we make sure the rich—who are taking home a larger percentage of income than any time since 191711—pay their fair share.

Not as stupid,
Excellent post. But I wish you'd change your name. I don't object to proving a positive with a negative, but I just hate writing "stupid" when addressing such an intelligent person.
Have a great Thanksgiving!
Stupid, you left out an important "Source" of your information:
http://front.moveon.org/top-5-fox-myths-to-debunk-this-thanksgiving/
Seeing you're such a good researcher Stupid, maybe you can tell us all a little about moveon.org, you know their origins, their political leanings, their leadership, you know, basic stuff.
And at least you fooled Jack into thinking you had done some research and had an original thought. But that's not saying much, Libs are kind of dense that way.
@ Not as stupid --
LoL You ought to know by now ....
You'll never get too far in a discussion with Spanky.
You'll only get so far as he will let you get, and no farther.
OMG I just got off of the phone with a recorded Newt sales pitch with a follow up by a young woman seeking money
I told her that I remember Newt attacking president Clinton for his affar wth Monica and that Newt was doing the same and that there was no way that this clown could win election
PS she hung up on me
@ bopdaddytoo--
Not to mention his being sanctioned by Congress for providing misleading information, his flip-flops, and his downright lie about his role with Freddie.
Maybe she hung up because she had to go throw up.
Obama 2012 - "Yeah, I suck, but I'm not as bad as the other guy"
Any word on if Barack will be pardoning his good friend, campaign fund-er, and neighbor, Tony Rezko? Tony of course got 10+ years for his corruption. Or will Barry wait until his good friend and campaign donor, Rod Blagojevich gets sentenced next month and just do a two-for?
I surprised that this isn't big news here at FR. Oh wait, no I'm not.
Smiff,
Coming from you of all people!?! You cracked me up--good thing I wasn't drinking coffee at the moment or I would have snorted it!
You know, Smiff, I kind of like you. You're like this armored tank that metal-piercing shells bounce off of. Every time I think you've been destroyed, Lo and Behold, you come lumbering up over the hill again.
Have a nice Thanksgiving!
Thank you, and you too Jack.
Finally the tough old bird makes her appearance!
Hey Sniffy - Did anyone ever tell you that a 'pop-up timer' doesn't make an attractive belly button ring?
Honestly, JoAnna?
Is that glaringly obvious diversion REALLY the best you can do?
Newt must be pretty bad if even you can't find a way to defend him.
Have a nice Thanksgiving.
Copy and pasting articles from some web site certainly does take a lot of intelligence.
Ever hear of plagiarism Jack?
You too Annie.
"Any word on if Barack will be pardoning his good friend, campaign fund-er, and neighbor, Tony Rezko?"
Rezko?? Whattsa matta, Smiff- forget how to spell 'Teleprompter'??
Here is an editorial piece that has been published in the WSJ on the day before Thanksgiving for 50 years. It illustrates the dire hardships those people that origanally settled this country faced. We should all be grateful we have it so much better than the brave people that first came to this country. Happy Thanksgiving to ALL the FR lefty liberals, even you, AM. And the same to everyone else:
The Desolate Wilderness
A chronicle of the Pilgrims' arrival at Plymouth, as recorded by Nathaniel Morton.
Here beginneth the chronicle of those memorable circumstances of the year 1620, as recorded by Nathaniel Morton , keeper of the records of Plymouth Colony, based on the account of William Bradford , sometime governor thereof:
So they left that goodly and pleasant city of Leyden, which had been their resting-place for above eleven years, but they knew that they were pilgrims and strangers here below, and looked not much on these things, but lifted up their eyes to Heaven, their dearest country, where God hath prepared for them a city (Heb. XI, 16), and therein quieted their spirits.
When they came to Delfs-Haven they found the ship and all things ready, and such of their friends as could not come with them followed after them, and sundry came from Amsterdam to see them shipt, and to take their leaves of them. One night was spent with little sleep with the most, but with friendly entertainment and Christian discourse, and other real expressions of true Christian love.
The next day they went on board, and their friends with them, where truly doleful was the sight of that sad and mournful parting, to hear what sighs and sobs and prayers did sound amongst them; what tears did gush from every eye, and pithy speeches pierced each other's heart, that sundry of the Dutch strangers that stood on the Key as spectators could not refrain from tears. But the tide (which stays for no man) calling them away, that were thus loath to depart, their Reverend Pastor, falling down on his knees, and they all with him, with watery cheeks commended them with the most fervent prayers unto the Lord and His blessing; and then with mutual embraces and many tears they took their leaves one of another, which proved to be the last leave to many of them.
Being now passed the vast ocean, and a sea of troubles before them in expectations, they had now no friends to welcome them, no inns to entertain or refresh them, no houses, or much less towns, to repair unto to seek for succour; and for the season it was winter, and they that know the winters of the country know them to be sharp and violent, subject to cruel and fierce storms, dangerous to travel to known places, much more to search unknown coasts.
Besides, what could they see but a hideous and desolate wilderness, full of wilde beasts and wilde men? and what multitudes of them there were, they then knew not: for which way soever they turned their eyes (save upward to Heaven) they could have but little solace or content in respect of any outward object; for summer being ended, all things stand in appearance with a weatherbeaten face, and the whole country, full of woods and thickets, represented a wild and savage hew.
If they looked behind them, there was a mighty ocean which they had passed, and was now as a main bar or gulph to separate them from all the civil parts of the world.
WHAT!?!?!?!? I have no idea where you got that, but I can tell you categorically that I didn't copy it from anybody else--it came 100% from my own brain. As if I would even need to. Plagiarism, indeed! Tell me your source.
I think you're about to havean "Oops!" moment.
So Joe Wilson is "intrigued"? Shouldn't the self-righteous TPGOP be revolted? Why do they give him a pass on his "family values" behavior? They certainly cut no slack for democrats/liberals!
"We have met the enemy and he is us!" Pogo by Walt Kelly
Albany Joe:
Nice retelling. But it does make me ask, if the OTHER parts of the world were the "civil parts," why did they leave?
I guess "civil" is a state of mind.
Have a happy Thanksgiving, Joe.
Boy, ain't that the truth!
Have a nice Thanksgiving, Anna Molly. I've enjoyed the back and forth and the support these past weeks!
Consider the source. Now we can be certain Newt is the worst candidate.
The No Value post by you know who, is cruising for a collapsing -- friggin troll.
Nice retelling. But it does make me ask, if the OTHER parts of the world were the "civil parts," why did they leave?
_________________________________
You really should be addressing that question about the "civil parts" to Nathaniel Morton , keeper of the records of Plymouth Colony. I'm gong to guess he was referring the statist monarchies of Europe at the time. (sorry about the italics, I couldn't turn them off. This is one of the crappiest, most crudely programmed websites on the web. The nonsense of the "older"/"newer" junk is an indication of low class high school type programmers) My third grade history class recollection of why the Pilgrim’s fled England is the religious persecution of the govt sponsored Church of England. Sort of like the current govt sponsored Church of Liberalism??
Ditto, Jack. It means a lot.
LoL Come worship at the altar. You know you want to.
I'll try once more. Happy Thanksgiving, Joe.
p.s. FR works MUCH better with Safari, and better with Chrome than with ordinary google.
Hey, Feisty:
I think the above was especially true for my grandmother. Going to her house anytime, but especially for Thanksgiving, was always my favorite day of the year.
But I'll never forget the time she put the bird in an unlit oven overnight to let it thaw. Problem was, it was a gas stove, and with the pilot light on the bird not only thawed but cooked oh-ever-so-slowly all night long. No one looked at it in the morning, but sometime around noon, as my mom and grandmother and aunts were talking and cooking in the kitchen, everyone began to notice this horrid smell. . . . We had to throw it out. Fortunately, my father was able to find a supermarket that was open and was able to buy a new one. It was a story re-told in our house every Thanksgiving.
Have a great Thanksgiving!
LoL Come worship at the altar. You know you want to.

Depends on how many "free" govt handouts are being offerred. I have pretty much decided that America is headed irreversibly down the same path as former world powers like Spain, France, and England into a mediocre socialist economy with its accompanying slow economic growth and high unemployment.
If the Bush-Obama tax cuts that keep my dividend and cap gain rates at 15% get renewed in 2013, I'll be at the altar. See you there!!!
(BTW, if the current tax laws passed by a Dem Congress in 2010 and signed into law by Barry, get "renewed" in 2012 or 13, they become UNQUESTIONABLY the "Obama tax cuts". LOL!!!)
Men are always the most charming when talking about their capital gains.
Looking forward to your conversion to liberalism. Advice from a wise guy ... I mean, wise conservative man ... like you could add a lot of value to a liberal girl's portfolio.
Unquestionably. LoL
Now, joe...
Your right-wing Repubs enacted those cuts under Dubya's white house, and NOW you want to try to distance yourselves from your actions?????
Why didn't you guys just listen to us back in'01?
Guess that is why so many of you like Romney & Gingrich - flippp-floppp, flippp-floppp.
Ha!
Not as Stupid - I have no idea what you are talking about or what discussion you thought we were engaged in.
In fact I do not recall discussing the Super Committee at all, but my memory issues aside - the super committee is a joke. Lame assed politicians punting to a smaller group of lame assed politicians.
Bottom line gang is that the economic reality, and unpleasant math for you libbies is that to sustain the current welfare state at the existing levels tax rates will have to skyrocket for all, AND the programs will still fail, only at a later date.
That is the reality Not As Stupid. It sucks, but ask the Greeks and the Spanish - reality is a bitch.
AM - I raised the voter fraud issue because you and I have discussed it in the past. But it's cool, there is always later.
Funny story Jack! lol
True confession, the first year I was in charge I forgot to remove the plastic bag filled with all the innards...
Needless to say, it didn't gel well with the stuffing!
Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours - I am so happy & thankful you decided to join the FR Family! ;o)
Jack,
You know, that might be one of the most intelligent comments I've seen from the libs in a long time.
When you think about it, JoAnnaSmith1 on the FR battlefield is pretty much the equivalent of an M1A2 Abrams main battle tank.
The Abrams has a big main gun that can blow the turret off any of the opposition's big boys, usually before the opposition can even come in range of making a hit.
It has quick firing coaxial guns to quickly engage and dispatch the little guys.
It has superior intelligence and information systems and with its reactive armour - is impervious to enemy fire.
Simply put ...... the "King," or in JoAnna's case - "Queen of the Battlefield."
Maybe she should change her name to JoAnnaSmithM1.
Anyway, good call Jack.
JoAnna,
Happy "Tanks"giving.
LoL Even more charming than a conservative talking about capital gains is a conservative talking about coaxial guns.
Happy Tanks-giving, bobby. ;-)
"Maybe she should change her name to JoAnnaSmithM1."
Or at least, 'Petunia'.
Hey Spank,
Check the reference in my post = may help jog your memory. But, you discuss economics; okay.
Your position:
But consider: This situation developed in the decade between 2001 and 2011, the era of the Bush tax cuts (that you guys now want to pin on Obama because of the failure and an up-coming election.) The true fact is that the Bush economic policies - providing advatages and more money to his wealthy friends, family and supporters - has caused this vast "wealth gap" between the haves and the have nots, the largest unequal wealth distribution in our history. THAT is the reality and it truly does suck. As Alan Grayson has pointed out:
Thus we have OWS, etc. You are so right to say it sucks....and the reality, which you believe also sucks, is that REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP AND POLICIES ARE WHAT HAVE LED US TO THIS POINT, no matter how hard you guys try to spin and distance yourselves from it and create some illusion that President Obama is somehow to blame. That, my friend, is simply mis-information being spewed out.
But that is politics, right?
But instead of partisanship, politicians better open their eyes, gain some foresight, and consider the big picture - what their (your?) partisan politics will cause in the future.
Probably not what you wanted to hear, but REALITY none the less. Does suck doesn't it.
Have a good turkey day, Spank, and give thanks... we have a Democrat in the White House!
And JAS1: a part of the above post belongs to Alan Grayson of Fla. so, being appropriated attributed, there is NO plagarism involved. You have a good Thanksgiving too.

Joe, You Lie!
Noboby cares what you think.
I did appreciate Mr. Gingrich's comments last night on illegal immigration. I realize there are laws out there that must be enforced, but there is something to be said about a Republican who thinks for a moment before talking about people who have grown up here. As Americans, I hate to think that we have become so cruel that we would just send them back to a place they do not consider their homes.
They are our neighbors, school mates, church goers and so on.
So I have to give it to Newt Gingrich. I guess some people in the GOP actually do have a heart and soul.
He probably erred in bringing this up before the primaries though. It will cost him dearly.
*************************
Go Packers. Quite a story there!
Yeah, but I would love to hear what Amy has to say on the illegal immigration issue.
Seems the people up in Maine don't take too kindly to those damn Canadians, right Amy?
Pat - I agree. I have to admit that Newt may afterall be human. I had him figured for a "pod-person" long ago, but I must recognized the humanity in what he said and that it seemed to be sincere. I am giving Thanks!
Tomorrow I am a Lions fan! lol
Wishing you & your family a glorious Thanksgiving tomorrow Pat!
I know there won't be any turnips on your table! ;o)
Still picking on Amy, Spanky? She hasn't even posted today and already you're on her case. Don't you think that today it might have been a nice gesture to wish her a happy Thanksgiving? I'm wishing you one--and it's sincere. (I actually said a nice thing about you in a post yesterday. So there!)
"The purpose of life is not to be happy, but to matter. To be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you have lived at all."
A Story About Humanity
The kindness bestowned by the Wampanoags helped the pilgrims to survive. The wheat the Pilgrims had brought with them to plant would not grow in the rocky soil. They needed to learn new ways for a new world, and the man who came to help them was called Squanto. Squanto was originally from the village
of Patuxet (Pa TUK et) and a member of the Pokanokit Wampanoag nation. Patuxet once stood on the exact site where the Pilgrims built Plymouth.
Squanto and Samoset were hunting along the beach near Patuxet. He was startled to see people from England in his deserted village. For several days, he stayed nearby observing the newcomers. Finally he decided to approach them. He walked into the village and said "Welcome," The Pilgrims were very
surprised to meet two Indians who spoke English.
The Pilgrims were not in good condition. They were living in dirt-covered shelters, there was a shortage of food, and nearly half of them had died during the winter. They obviously needed help and the two men were a welcome sight.
Squanto, who probably knew more English than any other Indian in North America at that time, decided to stay with the Pilgrims for the next few months and teach them how to survive in this new place. He brought them deer meat and beaver skins. He taught them how to cultivate corn and other new vegetables and how to build Indian-style houses. He pointed out poisonous plants and showed how other plants could be used as medicine. He explained how to dig and cook clams, how to get sap from the maple trees, use fish for fertilizer, and dozens of other skills needed for their survival.
By the time fall arrived things were going much better for the Pilgrims, thanks to the help they had received. The corn they planted had grown well. There was enough food to last the winter. They were living comfortably in their
Indian-style wigwams and had also managed to build one European-style
building out of squared logs. This was their church. They were now in
better health, and they knew more about surviving in this new land.
The Pilgrims decided to have a thanksgiving feast to celebrate their good fortune. They had observed thanksgiving feasts in November as religious obligations in England for many years before coming to the New World.
Captain Miles Standish, the leader of the Pilgrims, invited Squanto, Samoset, Massasoit (the leader of the Wampanoags), and their immediate families to join them for a celebration, but they had no idea how big Indian families could be.
As the Thanksgiving feast began, the Pilgrims were overwhelmed at the large turnout of ninety relatives that Squanto and Samoset brought with them. The Pilgrims were not prepared to feed a gathering of people that large for three days.
Seeing this, Massasoit gave orders to his men within the first hour of his arrival to go home and get more food. Thus it happened that the Indians supplied the majority of the food: Five deer, many wild turkeys, fish, beans, squash, corn soup, corn bread, and berries. Captain Standish sat at one end of a
long table and the Clan Chief Massasoit sat at the other end. For the first time the Wampanoag people were sitting at a table to eat instead of on mats or furs spread on the ground. The Indian women sat together with the Indian men to eat. The Pilgrim women, however, stood quietly behind the table and waited until after their men had eaten, since that was their custom.
For three days the Wampanoags feasted with the Pilgrims. It was a special time of friendship between two very different groups of people. A peace and friendship agreement was made between Massasoit and Miles Standish giving the Pilgrims the clearing in the forest where the old Patuxet village once stood to build their new town of Plymouth.

One of the first things I learned at a very early age was why that beautiful little beach area in my city was named "Squantum". It is a place now where many of our pro athletes live.
It's beautiful.
Happy Thanksgiving everybody. We know why we celebrate this day. Sometimes we just need to remember that we all need help. From each other.
And that's a good thing. It makes us humane.
Feisty! You still out there?
I am laughing so hard, I can't quit. Just read on Huffington Post that Fallon's band played a song called "Lying a** b*tch" when Bachmann was introduced. She just woke up to it!
I can't help but wonder what she is upset about, truth is truth after all!
A very happy Thanksgiving to you Pat. You are someone that I learn from. Thanks for your well written posts.
I'm here NDD!
Just saw that myself... all I can say is if the shoe fits! lol
She is also stomping her feet & demanding an apology from MSNBC!
I would ask... FOR WHAT?
Illegal Immigration .. well we have the Cain way which is to march them to an electric fence and electrocute them, or the Gingrich way of aging them 25 years and converting them.
What is it with these conservative Christians and their Inquisition methods; convert or die?
It's been many a year since I heard that story Pat. Thanks for sharing and reminding us of what Thanksgiving should be about. Wishing you peace and the blessings that come with a well lived life on You and your Family
IR: you are a First Read treasure. Wish the Mrs. a happy Thanksgiving for me.
Feisty, you and Clara have a good holiday too. To all my Lib friends: hope your turkey is DELICIOUS and the company better.
Forrest...If you are reading this, happy Thanksgiving to you and Mrs. Grump!
Call me a cynic, Pat, but my thought when I read Newt's quote was that he is already focusing on the general election and saying what he thinks folks in the middle want to hear rather than pandering to the Tea Party base. Don't think he has many core values at all.
Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours!
ahh, newday, likewise, my friend, likewise!
hugs to all!
Steeler Fan: I understand what you're saying about Newt's "grand plan". And I really don't think it's going to help him; he's jumping the gun assuming he's going to get to the general. Which is unlikely.
But I do think what he said was important for Americans to hear. The GOP is just so full of hate toward everybody. It was refreshing to hear this from Mr. Gingrich.
Let's just be happy the Indians weren't of the mind set that only the strong will survive. They literally helped a people survive. And they believed that the land shouldn't belong to anyone.
That it is there for all of us to take care of and nuture.
We've lost that concept somewhere along the way. Newt brought it back for one brief moment. At least when it comes to people. I don't know where he is on environmental issues.
Thought I would drop by for a second. Been running around all day to get ready to go see the Mouse for a long weekend
Talked with the senior gang last night, after the debate. They were NOT happy. 1 reason, politics like that at Thanksgiving is just unseemly (that's their words!) 2. They felt the "fix" was in - and what's up with all the neo-cons asking questions, they expected to see Dubya or Cheney after a while. And 3 - Oops, they forgot!
They sent their best wishes to everyone here on FR. They are extremely excited about their gambling junket. All of them are into the penny and nickle slots!
Right back at ya NDD!
I have 2 prime 'breasts' ready to go for tomorrow! lol
I gave up on the whole bird this year, every one wants only the white meat and there is never enough left overs!
Plenty of sage/sausage stuffing to go around!
You go Feisty. For the first time in many years, I am NOT wrestling with a naked turkey at dark thirty. Gonna let Minnie do my cooking for me this year! Then, a big old shopping spree at EPCOT on Friday!
When my Mom was alive Thanksgiving was always at her house!
She LOVED cooking & hosting the dinner!
When she became to ill to continue, I took over & to this day still can not stand to wrestle with the naked bird!
It's all good - there will be a place set for her at the table! ;o)
Since Mom moved to assisted living, she still bakes pies - but lets the community do the big stuff. Every year we try to get her to come down, but the "gang" has become a 2nd family. Not to worry, January cold and snows bring her on down for a 6 week visit (and hubby hiding in the bedroom with his mini fidge)
My family is scattered this year (hate these mixed families - daughter's husband girls are with their mom this year, my daughter's daughter is with her dad). Ergo, happiest place on earth for me and "PeePaw".
There is absolutely nuttin Wrong with violating a Naked Bird, as long as it's a ButterBall !
Its those Angry Birds that Gots Problems!
Occupy SoggyBottom!
Jack -
1. Amy is always here in spirit;
2. I'm not picking on anyone, simply asking a pertinent question;
3. Amy has insight to add as many in Maine are none too pleased with all their illegals - you know the Canadians.
As I stated to you yesterday Amyis an excellent foil. It is not my intent to pick on her, insult her or call her out. The points I raise are not directed to her on a personal level. BUT she is a very ripe example of many of the issues discussed here, as are Jody Feisty Drive By and many others.
They talk about taxes, but have never read the code, are willing to acknowledge that the code was in large part created by democrats, and still call Obama's tax cuts the "Bush Tax Cuts." All W-2 employees who likely all have all their taxes withheld and get a refund each year. They have no understanding of deductions, depreciation, or exemptions.
They talk about job creation, but have never created a job, dealt with all the regulations, or had to make a payroll.
The talk about government regulations. See above.
They talk about entitlements, but at least in Amy's case have absolutely no retirement saving or plan [other than the entitlement train].
Now I could go on, but I'm shutting down the office early today and got to get some letters out to opposing counsel.
And don't worry Jack - I won't tell anyone about you saying nice stuff about me. :)
I giggle everytime I see that Rick!
Wishing you & Miss. Daisy a very Happy Thanksgiving down there in 'soggy-bottom'! ;o)
Spanky- there you are. I thought you got lost when you left to take out the garbage. Now as to: "3. Amy has insight to add as many in Maine are none too pleased with all their illegals - you know the Canadians."
We are quite happy up here. We have a world class healthcare system that causes no one to go bankrupt, our universities are excellent and cost a tenth to attend as yours, our political morons and elections are publicly funded, our banks did not fail and our housing market did not crash. I want to be illegal in America? Why?
"They talk about taxes, but have never read the code"
"They talk about job creation, but have never created a job,..."
So, then, I guess YOU cannot talk about heart surgery, calculating building loads, or growing corn and soybeans?
I guess it's ok for you to talk about screwballs, though.
Is that the "royal we?"
Amy has posted otherwise, so maybe she has some different info, eh?
Now I don't know much about Maine, other than it has a very small population, but I do know [from Amy] that you got a republican Gov. and two quasi GOP senators.
So you are the opposite of my progressive paradise. Lucky.
And hey there Drive By - you are exactly correct. For me to talk about medical issues, engineering, farming, spelling or grammar would be just silly.
But I do know you, so there is the screwball thing, right?
Spankster, i've come up with the answer you were seeking last week concerning the IRS problem for the little ole Lady. Tell her you're returning the Retainer because You No longer have the time because of being a Troll!
I'm sure she'll understand, but if she does'nt, tell her you have Tunnels to dig!
Or Ronnie Duestch(SP) is allover the TV with IRS questions!
Backatcha Fiesty, we're doing OK now that the Rain has went away. I can't wait to Violate that ButterBall about 11pm tomorrow night(Miss Daisy has the Pleasure of working tomorrow)!
Occupy SoggyBottom!
Rick - it was a $25k retainer, and good golly, but it's almost all gone.
Imagine that Rick. See, creating a fantastic organization has benefits Rick. I don't have to do all [or even most of] the work anymore.
And that Rick, is a great thing.
We'll see come 12/5 at the ENE, but I think I can get the IRS to take a lot less than they want.
Service Rick - She'll pay me about $35,000 to $40,000 in the end, but save about over $3.5 million.
Income and equity disparity. You starting to get in yet my man?
Spanky,
I've headed up organizations and created jobs and hired and fired people. Over the past twenty years--and particularly in the last ten years--my work has involved tax credits and complex tax codes issues, and for a period of time tax credit syndication. On a regular basis I'm in contact with tax attorneys and accountants from the most prestigious firms in the state (and trust me, these guys are smarter than you or me). But as expert as they are in this esoteric field, we're always saying to one another, "Now how does that go again?" because the code is arcane and always changing, and even then there are situations that arise that we haven't dealt with in years and we have to go back and research the code to see whether our memories are correct or whether the code changed at some time in the recent past or whether there was simply a proposal to change it which maybe the feds never implemented. And then there's the bankers, the investors I have to work with. All aspects of my work are governed by federal regulations I have to adhere to. Make a mistake in tax credits and suddenly you owe the investors big money.
But although I deal with depreciation and tax codes and all the other related financial stuff, I'm not an expert in it. I don't have to be. I do have to know who to ask when I need help and I need to know what questions to ask. As Drive-by pointed out, we all have our areas of knowledge and interest, and we do what we can.
That said, I haven't seen in these posts where you've displayed some kind of startling, in-depth knowledge that "sets everyone straight." Rather, you take pot shots in the form of non sequiturs. You don't "engage". Maybe you feel you're above it all?
But it's Thanksgiving. Let's be grateful for what we have. Because there are plenty in the world who have nothing.
I am more than intrigued - I am plain and simply baffled. Fired by his own party while in Congress, but now the GOP/TP messiah for a presidential run. I guess the republicans are all enthused with the Force Children To Work plan.

No doubt Newt will deflect such criticism with his VP pick.
Gingrich/Little Orphan Annie 2012
Gingrich/Little Orphan Annie 2012
Someone has to clean Newt's crapper!! Why pay a janitor, let the veep do it.
RedDevPS - No doubt, and I'm sure when by the time she is legal Newt will be searching for wife number 4, or, more likely by then, wife number 5.
Well, Newt does want to get rid of the child labor laws, he should pick a vp with kids. They can mow the white house lawn.
"...it's a hard knock life for me..."
LMAO! Funniest post I read today!
does this make romney daddy warbucks?
Try looking at the GOP field as if Gingrich was the Chosen One all along - and the only way to make it happen was to plant him in the field of the Children of the Corn - but someone forgot to tell Mittens.
Hope Turkey Day is great for all!
It was interesting until everyone was reminded why he was kicked out of Washington DC by his own party ! He can't be trusted to tell the truth and he is immoral .. other then that ....he sure does practice the GOP's "FANNY VALUES" !
I was truly shocked that Newt Gingrich of all people failed to deliver the promise of senseless cruelty against illegal immigrants that the Republican teabag base thirsts for. He'll have to extinguish that last spark of humanity in his soul if he really wants to be president, just like Romney has.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here at FR....Have a safe and blessed holiday while you enjoy family and friends.
Think of our service members far from their families in harms way. Think of those who may be less forturnate....say a prayer for all!
As we enter the Holiday season, this may bring a smile or a grimace:
12 Days of Gingrich Christmas or why Newt Would Be a Great GOP Nominee!

Spanky-
I can assure you that the folks in Maine like us damn Canadians just fine. We only argue over whose lobster tastes better.
The best lobster tail is the Florida Rock Lobster!!! LOL :)
YEah, that does not seem to be the consensus with the maine Loggers.
Maybe they don't like lobster. Or is it Canadian lobster?
Darn it! That's where I left my ax or was it my wallet when I bought a truckload of Maine pine.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Have a safe and blessed holiday with the family.
Be sure to say a pray for the people who can't be home with their families!!!
Have a safe and wonderful holiday!!!!!!
Write to everyone next week.
good to see someone post about Newts decision to put children back to work
Here in S.Illinois many young boys died because they were setting on boards kicking rock out of the coal and after ten or twelve hours would fall into the shaker and be crushed the older boys were underground loading coal into cars so their family could buy food and clothes from the company store
bopdaddytoo, GOP seems to think that getting rid of the unions, then child labor laws is the ticket to the future. Seems to me to be a time machine to the past - as in the 19th century!
phinephancy-4252115 ... if the GOP went back in time no one would recognize them as such and one and all would be summarily shipped back to us stamped: imposters, please return to sender.
ideo, couldn't we just sabatoge the time machine and let them hang out there in the ether?
As they seem to be hanging themselves just fine, I'm good with watching them swing for a while. Do the right thing America. We in the rest of the world are very fearful of a return to Bush's world view.
So ideolaogy - it seems Canada is kicking ass behind oil exploration.
Good, bad, or false?
Me. I'm fearful of a $15Trillion debt and $1.8 trillion deficits.
Silly, right?
Spanky- ... try the following steps:
1- Regulate your banks.
2- Raise taxes on the wealthy. Especially fund managers.
3- Slash DoD spending by at least 1/2 and stop blowing up countries not involved in 911
4- Stop signing free trade agreements with third world economies and then shipping all your manufacturing jobs to them.
5- Sell Alaska back to the Russians.
Joe Wilson? The A$$ that called the President of the United States a liar in full view of millions of people? THAT Joe Wilson? What a douche bag! I highly doubt anyone cares what he thinks.
Joe was certainly right about the Big O.
I wonder if this lady thinks he's right?
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/russia/8909336/Russian-newsreader-Tatyana-Limanova-makes-insulting-gesture-at-Obama.html
Dee I highly agree !!!
Cuomo/Warner 2016!
[Cuomo/Warner 2016!]
Ugh...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! lol not Coumo
Joe? Joe who? Wilson, you say? Who's he? Oh, now I remember - he was the Democratic plant, during some speach the President made - is it that same Joe Wilson? They paid him how much? Well tell him he ain't makin any money off the indorsement from us! They offered him how much? Well, tell him to switch over to the Democratic Party - he ain't getin any money from us! Geesh, some people will do anything for money, now-a-days! {:-(}
I was curious to see if there was any truth to this article on viewers of Fox News. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/21/fox-news-viewers-less-informed-people-fairleigh-dickinson_n_1106305.html?ref=mostpopular
I turned to the Fox channel to see what would happen if I watched the channel for just 10 minutes. Holy cow, the veil lifted, the fog cleared, and I now know the following with stunning clarity.
Joe Wilson is the single most courageous politician in the US. He is the only with the huevos to call Obama what he is – a LIAR!
After being born a Muslim in Africa, Obama traipsed around Europe to learn the socialist way. From there he moved to the USSR to hone his communist and Marxist skills. During that time, when he was around 15 or 20, he also managed to get laws passed in the US, forcing banks to give lazy unemployed people living on welfare home loans. This was in done in preparation for his presidential run in which his number one goal was to make Bush look bad.
Everything bad that has happened to every individual on earth over the last 3 years is Obama’s fault. Everything good/positive is due to the saintly trio of Sean Hannity, John Boehner, and Grover Norquist.
China has the model society because they do not have Welfare, food stamps, unemployment, social security, or student loans.
9-9-9 is the most equitable and fair form of taxation on the planet. Why no one uses is beyond me.
Women have strange and unnatural urges that make them want to get pregnant then have abortions. We need to overturn Roe vs. Wade to make these urges go away.
Obama overthrew the Egyptian government and forced them into a Muslim government. This was a practice run for what he has planned for the US. And after invading Egypt, he invaded the rest of Africa to continue the spread of the Muslim communistic socialist Taliban Al Queda government.
After invading Egypt and all of Africa, Obama declared war on Libya (which is near Africa) without congressional approval, and should now be charged with treason.
The Super-Committee failed because Obama did not attend the daily sessions and tell the democrats concede to all Republican offers.
If people do not have jobs, it is not because there aren’t jobs, it is because those people are lazy couch potatoes who do not want to become millionaires.
The OWS movement is comprised of two groups of people; Heroin addicts looking to score their next hit, and rapists looking to score their next easy hit amongst the addicts. Both groups are stinky and need a bath.
That is what became truths in just 10 minutes. Imagine how much more educated I would be if I watched it all day.
It was interesting until everyone was reminded why he was kicked out of Washington DC by his own party ! He can't be trusted to tell the truth and he is immoral .. other then that ....he sure does practice the GOP's "FANNY VALUES" !
Newt, supposedly the "smartest person in the room," looks pretty dumb on this issue. He has vigorously embraced far-right ideology and the hateful rhetoric of the Tea Party on almost every issue, flipping from where he stood only years ago. But any position that does not involve rounding up every Hispanic in the ol' USA at gunpoint and sending them on the next military transport back to Mexico City is tantamount to "amnesty" in the eyes of the Republican voting base. Gingrich has big trouble on his hands. http://www.sunstateactivist.org
If a Republican Representative is endorsing Newt Gingrich because of his obvious intelligence, and wisdom, and experience, that should be more than enough for anybody on this vine to throw their support behind Newt.
The liberals on this thread should realize their mental weakness, and bow to a greater power. The Republican Party.
ABO 2012.
Jophus...
...you may want to stop votin gfor your own posts...it's just not cool.
@ Josehus...you arejust tooo dang funny I almost peed my pants.
Memo to Newt: Assassinating Iran's nuclear scientists is not "covert" or "deniable", IF YOU ANNOUNCE IT ON TV.
Newt is just a slimy souless lizard...I will give him one thing though he has guts, he thinks the American People are stupid and forgott what he did to this country.

Obama 2012 - "Yeah, I suck, but I'm not as bad as the other guy"
Any word on if Barack will be pardoning his good friend, campaign fund-er, and neighbor, Tony Rezko? Tony of course got 10+ years for his corruption. Or will Barry wait until his good friend and campaign donor, Rod Blagojevich gets sentenced next month and just do a two-for?=====You must be having fond memories Of George W. Bush commuting Scooter Libbey's sentence with in hours of Scooter receiving his sentence.

Republican's need to remember the old saying ( watch what you wish for you might just get it ). They want deficit reduction, come January 1 2013 they will get $6.2 trillion worth of cuts. $1 trillion dollars they agreed on just to raise the debt. ceiling. The $1.2 trillion in automatic cuts the super committee couldn't agree on ($600 billion in defense cuts and $600 billion in non-discretionary spending cuts ) and the $4 trillion in Bush tax cuts that expire on that same day. That all totals to $6.2 trillion and President Obama doesn't have to do anything to get them. Obama played the Republican's like a real pro and they didn't even see it coming.
