Subscribe to RSSNew York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg isn’t letting anyone -- on either side of Pennsylvania Avenue -- off the hook after the Super Committee’s failure to reach a bipartisan deficit deal this week.
“There’s no heroes here,” Mayor Bloomberg said today on MSNBC’s "Andrea Mitchell Reports."
“In the last 10 years, the government’s revenues have gone up 15%," he said. "The government’s expenditures have gone up 80%. That was done during Republican and Democratic administrations, it was done by the White House and Congress.”
Bloomberg added, “Everybody created this problem, and now they can’t even figure out a way to save $1.2 trillion or one year’s deficit over the next 10 years.”
But the Super Committee is not entirely to blame, the mayor said. President Obama could help break Washington’s political gridlock by using his veto power.
“There is one answer to this: All the president has to do, and I’m not trying to hold him more responsible but he is the chief executive, he was elected to lead this country. All he's got to do is stand up and say, ‘I will veto any extension of any of the Bush-era tax cuts. Everybody. Not just the rich, but everybody.’ And that takes taxes off the table. Then the Republicans don't have an issue, and they can start working with the Democrats with coming up with intelligent cuts,” he said.
So what about a third-party presidential run for the Mayor? Not this time, he answered.
“I have a commitment to the public to serve four years. I'm going to honor that commitment. I've got a great job. I love it every day. That's what I'm going to do.”

The Repug Debates. I hate them, but I can't help watching them. How can any of these Candidates think they are qualified to be the President of the United States of America? My God our forefathers and founding fathers must be rolling over in their graves.

Of course there needs to be a balanced approach with revenues at least equal to spending cuts. And of course if the richest 2% paid their fair share it still wouldn't be enough revenue. We need to end corporate welfare as well, and eventually we need to end tax credits for everyone.
What we DON'T need to do is to end the Bush tax cuts for the middle class and working poor. The distribution of wealth between rich and poor is so extreme now that we must over-correct for awhile to rebuild the 99%.
The best way to increase revenues is to create jobs. Aside from being responsible for two unfunded wars, Teapublicans need to stop obstructing real solutions to create good jobs - NOW!

Can do. chilled, there's beer in the mini fridge in the closet (and no, you don't want to know why I have a mini fridge in my bedroom closet).
My daughter was telling me about hot chocolate & marsh-mellow Vodka over the weekend!

I worked for a company based out of there for many years & have remained close with many of the friends I acquired over the years!

I am NOT having a good night tonight. My bedroom desktop computer just completely froze up. Had to come into livingroom to use my laptop. Found out that the dining room windows were open and it is raining in. AHHHHHH
That being said, I love Canada. And Kahlua. I can't do whiskey or bourbon, though, probably for the same reasons as you, Feisty.

But the food was OH SO DELICIOUS!
