No Week Ahead this week

All --

"The Week Ahead" from Domenico and Andy will return next week. Have a great weekend, everyone.

Discuss this post

Awww Shucks!

Well then, let's get this party started anywho...

As our affable hosts/moderators mentioned under First Thought’s this morning; what a wild week!

Proving again that the truth is indeed stranger than fiction when it comes to politics!

I’m on my way to the Dew Drop Inn to celebrate having my question chosen for the Boiler Room segment & the drinks are on me!

It sure got ‘fugly’ over there fast & I appreciate Mark & Domenico’s patience when the ill-mannered
ingrates who troll First Read looking for nothing other than a fight!

Don’t forget to ‘fall back’ Saturday night & check the batteries in your smoke detectors while
you’re at it! ;o)

Can’t wait to watch da Bears snack on some Eagles this weekend!

In meantime, I'll settle for a stirred pomegranate martini & some *popcorn*

Hey Fiesty-- Are you talking about the dude that came dressed for Halloween as a two-bit lawyer? Turns out it wasn't a costume. Drinks are on you? I'm there.

Several groups have marched in support of Occupy Wall Street. On Wednesday it was the Veterans Turn.

It looked something like this:

http://www.businessinsider.com/veterans-march-for-occupy-wall-street-2010-11

http://www.reuters.com/video/2011/11/02/war-veterans-join-occupy-wall-street-pro?videoId=224171339

Thank you Gentleman. You did me proud.

Your moneys no good at the Dew Drop Inn tonight and a few of you may want to stop over at The Comeback Inn and enjoy a weekends hospitality. It’s on the House.

As always my thanks and appreciation to our hosts for their time, giving me a little place to stand, a subject to comment on, a forum to put it in, and their indulgence when I don’t quite get it right or get a little off subject. I purely do appreciate it. Hope you’ll have a fine weekend and good fun among folks that you know and love. To my fellow participants keep well, keep safe, and keep the faith. We’ll make it. See you’ll next week

Drive-By hit G- 12 “What Kind Of Fool Do You Think I Am” by old Lee Roy Parnell in honor of this fellow named Herman crying in his beer over in the back room and we’ll get this little shindig started.

Politics exceptionally sordid this week. But NOTHING in the news can get this Angelino down after yesterday's LA Times' wonderful headline:

"O'MALLEY WANTS DODGERS BACK"

Hey, Feisty, what do you suppose they do in the Romney household this weekend - fall back, then spring forward, then fall back again, then just pick a time at random and figure they'll be right at least twice a day?

And in case you missed my reply earlier, please tell da Bears they're more than welcome to not just snack on da "Iggles", but come back for seconds and thirds. And take a doggie bag for some leftover Michael Vick when they're done!

Uncle Redneck - Thanks for the video. I liked the signs they had about "I'm STILL serving my country". We owe them so much better for their service than what they get, and kudos to our lovely First and Second Ladies for their pretty much unheralded efforts in this regard the last few years.

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Again Fiesty congrats on asking the questions and getting them answered, relevant whether some like it or not. ; )

Pomegranate martinis sounds great right about now....send recipe my way if you get a chance! We are heading out to dinner somewhere???

A long week for sure and I must say the failure of the jobs bill yesterday was disappointing to say the least.

Cheers everyone and let's hope next week brings better news...but enough news to keep the terrific reporters here busy! Thanks for keeping us informed First Read.

BTW My day went terrible as we had a major appliance quit working so I'm outta here to get a drink and some good food.

OUCH!

My A/C went out in July last summer when we were in the middle of the heat wave with temps over 100!

To make matters worse, we had a storm that Friday night & lost power which in turn tripped our circuit breaker for our sump pumps!

Woke up to 6"s of water in my basement & NO AIR! GRRR!

I totally feel your pain...

Enjoy your dinner & libations!

I suspect Dominco is out checking poll sampling.

But hey you all catch the Obama Friday News Dump today? More fun from team "uh, yeah, you know when I said most transparent president ever and Bush was a big fat idiot for using executive privilege"

Yep - that nasty Solyndra Subpoena? Nope, now way no how.

Transparency - OUT.

Executive Privilege - IN!

Ah, but the poor guy is in kind of a pickle, what with all he said about Bush, so he just can't bring himself to say executive privilege. But we all know what he means, the big silly.

So come on gang let's all google Obama/executive privilege.

Cause see Bush used it regarding documents concerning a war - you know actual national security interests.

This here is Obama wasted $ 1/2 a billion, which he gave to his friend George Kaiser, which was facilitated by the DOE whore whose wife worked at the law firm that got a $2 million fee.

Seems like national security issues, right?

This most certainly is the Change we had been Hoping for, right?

Happy Friday. It really doesn't get more comical than this.

Romney the Con Man - He Ain't Kidding Anyone But Himself

Mitt Romney’s problem with the Republican Party is not just that he previously held liberal positions on a wide-ranging array of issues. That can be explained away, at least a bit, as pandering necessary to win votes in a Democratic state. The deeper problem is that Romney was promising behind closed doors to act as essentially a sleeper agent within the Republican Party, adopting liberal stances, rising to national prominence, and thereby legitimizing them and transforming the Party from within. Today’s Washington Post has more detail...

"Mitt Romney was firm and direct with the abortion rights advocates sitting in his office nine years ago, assuring the group that if elected Massachusetts governor, he would protect the state’s abortion laws.

Then, as the meeting drew to a close, the businessman offered an intriguing suggestion — that he would rise to national prominence in the Republican Party as a victor in a liberal state and could use his influence to soften the GOP’s hard-line opposition to abortion.

He would be a “good voice in the party” for their cause, and his moderation on the issue would be “widely written about,” he said, according to detailed notes taken by an officer of the group, NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts.

“You need someone like me in Washington,” several participants recalled Romney saying that day in September 2002, an apparent reference to his future ambitions."

That’s a very smart argument. Liberals have far more to gain by having a Republican advocate their views than by having a Democrat advocate their views. The article proceeds to detail meetings in which Romney told gay-rights activists the same thing:

  • In an Aug. 25, 1994, interview with Bay Windows, a gay newspaper in Boston, he offered this pitch, according to excerpts published on the paper’s Web site: “There’s something to be said for having a Republican who supports civil rights in this broader context, including sexual orientation. When Ted Kennedy speaks on gay rights, he’s seen as an extremist. When Mitt Romney speaks on gay rights he’s seen as a centrist and a moderate.

Now, conservatives can live with this if they think that once in office Romney will have to watch out for his right flank at all times. "Having flipped, he could not flop without risking a conservative revolt," writes former Bush speechwriter Michael Gerson. "As a result, conservatives would have considerable leverage over a Romney administration."

That’s not crazy. It’s also possible to believe Romney was simply conning liberals all along — that’s something he has hinted at in debates, referencing the fact that he was running in Massachusetts. (He couldn’t oppose abortion in Massachusetts — he’s running for office, for Pete’s sake.) Of course the risk of nominating a con artist is that there’s always the chance he’s conning you.

Romney? He's corporate. It's where all the con men do their con jobs on we the people. One day he panders to the left. The next day he panders to the Tea Party crowd.

And thus is born OWS.

Hello WEEKEND!

1. JoAnne, that was hysterical,...

2. Feisty, we have this great Stearns and Foster mattress and we always flip it when the clock changes,...so for those who flip their mattress - now's as good a time as any.

3. DCIA and Feisty, darn it you went and ruined a perfectly good "spin cycle" joke by revealing that it wasn't the washer.

4. Mr. Redneck, I am still at the office (darn SEC reporting and all); but do you think you and Buzz can load the jukebox up? I am looking at G14 - Because the Night (natalie merchant and the maniacs, if you please) and maybe a little something for the whining campaigner as he bids adieu to the city he can't wait to occupy - The Falling Kind by Vedera I think it is over at L3. Here's a sample of lyrics:

Should we even wonder why our hearts are torn?

Why our image is based on this broken city?
Should we ask ourselves why our lungs breathe in sickness?

Innocence is seen as weakness, laughter at as naïve.
And it's these things that hold you down when they're supposed to keep you safe and sound.

And it's these things you claim to believe don't let them be the ones you forever try to please.
It's a scene that leaves you cold but why choose anything else and lose your place in line? May I ask one thing, how do you think this will work out?

You are no more well-liked than those who have been betrayed
And it's these things that hold you down when they're supposed to keep you safe and sound and it's these things you claim to believe don't let them be the ones you forever try to please
Look at you now Look at you now
And it's these things that hold you down when they're supposed to keep you safe and sound. And it's these things you claim to believe don't let them be the ones you forever try to please.

Okay, Thanks Dom, Mark and Ali - Great week, and to a good weekend that it sounds like some of you will be working through,...don't you just love campaign season?

I love a good game of tennis. I love it even more when libbies play it. The running all over the court of republican candidates is absolutely hilarious. Each day it's a thrill to watch who is going to get knocked over the net. Romney, Perry, Bachman, Cain, Gingrich, Santorum.... so many to choose from... so many ways to knock that ball back.

While the libbies are playing their game of who can dis who the hardest, the White House is falling apart... and the libbies aren't even recognizing it. Of course, the libbies have all the main stream media on their side.... many television networks, papers, magazines... these bastions of liberal information to feed the hearts and minds of liberaldom... Meanwhile back at the farm... the real world moves on. Obama has serious problems and the liberals don't even see it... Couldn't have happened to a better socialist leader. Tick tock liberals.. tick tock.

Mark in SoCal, it is true!!!!

Peter O'Malley. Fred Claire. Steve Garvey. Orel Hershiser. All Dodger greats, and in the last week, all became prospective LOS ANGELES DODGER owners.

The Dodgers may have drawn minimal interest the last time they were put up for sale, but the field figures to be deeper and more competitive this time around.

It would be great if the groups work together or join forces eventually! The sooner the ownership issue is ended, the faster the Dodgers can start winning again!

GO DODGERS!

Hi miked,

Yeah, baby, there is cautious optimism in Dodgerville. SO encouraging to see those great names being put forward as prospective owners. Hell, I'd be happy to see Mark Cuban buy the team! We have a very good nucleus and with good ownership and a good general manager (see ya, Ned.......) the Dodgers can go all the way. 1988 was so, so long ago.....

I live an easy 20 minutes from Dodger Stadium. I drive right past the Stadium Way exit off I5 to and from work. It is easy for me to go to Dodger games, and I do frequently - except this year, painful as it was, I stayed away all season.

Mark,

I'm from Reno, now live in Vegas (most of my Reno friends are Giants fans (yeah, I know like dogs sleeping with cats, but all bets are off when the teams face each other then it get's nasty). Every time one of them visits us in Vegas we make them watch a tape I have of game 1 of the 1988 series against Oakland! lol!

Every season we try and catch at least one Dodger game in LA. Now that the Dodger's take their spring training in Glendale, AZ we plan on vacationing there every Spring. We saw a Dodger/Cubs preseason game last March at the new stadium they share with the White Sox! What a great venue, I recommend you try it too!

Republicans have their script; they just need to pick the person to deliver it. It will portray Obama as a failed leader who backs away when challenged and who doesn't understand what it takes to create jobs and spur business investment.

Excuse me, but don't these GOP/TP presidential "hopefuls" need to be somewhat qualified, and at least somewhat scandal-free? And just as important, don't they need to run FOR something? No one is interested in unfounded bashing of an opponent. We want to know what solutions Teapublicans stand for.

What real and viable plan does the GOP/TP have "to create jobs and spur business investment" that we haven't done for the past 10 years plus with complete failure? Which one of these candidates has foreign policy credentials other than Huntsman or consistency other than Ron Paul? Come on!

The lack of trust toward government is no greater than the lack of trust of Wall Street and Big Business. And the negative view of politicians is greater for Teapublicans in congress than for any other branch or Party. The REAL reason pundits are predicting a close 2012 election is because just like the Teapublicans in congress, their supporters have a pact and nothing else matters to them.

Come one fellow Americans, of course it is a pact -- Even more than unconstitutional pledges to outside lobbyist Norquist. At what other time in history has one Party voted unanimously against everything? There has always been at least some dissent, either to represent constituents (e.g., Republicans in Maine or Democrats in the south) or at least voting one's conscience.

Zero votes, 100% of Teapublicans against 100% of legislation is a dead give-away that the GOP/TP is playing politics at the expense of our country. It's deplorable, even treasonous--Throw the uncompromising Teapublican anarchists out.

Why worry about any republican qualification? After all, Obama had NONE! At least most of the republicans have had a lot more experience than Obama could ever dream of. Qualification questions from an Obama supporter is rather a mute point.

There is no "Week Ahead", on NBC networks, unless the week ahead has stories in favor of Obama.

It has now been nine weeks since stimulus-funded solar company Solyndra declared bankruptcy.

Yet despite Thursday's vote by the House Energy and Commerce Committee panel to subpoena internal White House communications concerning the company, MSNBC's prime time hosts Chris Matthews, Lawrence O'Donnell, Ed Schultz, and Al Sharpton still haven't said one word about this scandal.

Meanwhile, on NBC Nightly News, two brief stories about Jon Corzine have managed to neglect the fact he is a Democrat and a close associate of the President. Surely an innocent mistake...

Compared to the other NBC Obama shills, First Read almost seems like real journalism!

Stopping by to say hi--I've dropped off a box of Two-Buck Chuck (which is actually pretty decent wine, and is Three-Buck Chuck in Oregon, but the trip to buy it is waay cheaper) there at the Dew Drop Inn. I picked out a carton of 12 bottles of cab, and with that price you can even put ice in it and the California wine police won't even write you a ticket.

Yes, have a great weekend all! I know we're all looking forward to many answers in the coming weeks like:

The embezzeler, Corzines incestuous relationship with Obama's campaign financing

How successful will the regime be in stalling the Solyndra / Obama payoff scandal

Will the regime also effectively put off the Fast and Furious scam to circumvent the 2nd Amendment?

Will the libbies ever get tired of throwing Cain under the bus for an incident not worthy of discussion?

How much income does carrot top get from trolling truck stops? Or is the free boilermakers her only compensation.

The Veterns will also be a topic next week.

Declaring that the “time for talking has passed,” organizers of a peaceful rally scheduled for Veteran’s Day (November 11th for those libbies that don't know or don't care) in Washington are demanding the resignation of Barack Obama along with other members of his administration.

The rally is being assembled around the issues contained in a Declaration to Restore the Constitutional Republic, which sets out the goals of the organizing groups, which include the Veteran Defenders of America and its parent organization, The United States Patriots Union.

The events are scheduled to begin at the Washington Monument at 6 a.m. and continue at points around Washington, D.C., throughout the day. How many people are expected isn’t being released, nor is the membership information for the “member-only” organizations.

This weekend I will golf and visit friends. Have no plans to drink myself silly at any Dew Drop In..... lol, my college days ended years ago. Take care all and remember: ABO 2012, more than ever!

Poor little Jimmy: what you don't know is that your post makes you part of Feisty's Troll Club. Those poor little fellows who follow Feisty around, largely because they are afraid of powerful women. It is always amusing to see the little guys, they simply can't handle that Feisty is as popular as she is, as quick with a thought and with rapier wit. All the singular graces that the Troll Club lacks. But, I see Jimmy, that you aren't even "Feisty worthy", she will not deign to notice you, which I know drives you crazy.

As to the Dew Drop Inn? There are bouncers. We are very selective about who comes in, though we have some folks on the right that have been welcomed many times. You just won't be one of them. Pity, that.

To be welcome at the Dew Drop Inn, you must be capable of thoughtful debate. So, I am afraid you don't qualify.

As to vets? The ones worthy of respect are those who remember why they fight. To insure freedom for all, agree or disagree. I guess you fail at that too!

Apparently Herman Cain's campaign is based on Pokeman poetry, SimCity 9-9-9, musicals in which Cain spontaneously breaks into song, and now a movie quote about "a brother of another mother." Cain's smile at the end of his ads says it all -- Someone is playing a sad joke on Americans as he laughs all the way to the bank with book sales and higher motivational speaking fees.

Whereas the "inner Perry" is really Perry. Who knows which is worse?

Saw the same analysis about Herman Cain"s campaign as performance Art. His response to questions, setting forth his policy views are all snippet's from movies, television shows and songs.

Primary voters love him because" they find him refreshing"... like the latest cartoon movie or funny one liners from a action movie.

Guess it is anyone but Romney for the primary voters at this point.
