Cain: 'What part of no don't some people understand?'

Herman Cain took no questions after speaking to the conservative group Docs4PatientCare -- despite organizers just moments before telling reporters there would be time for questions.

Cain spoke for just five minutes and right before he took the podium, an organizer told reporters there would be no questions because of time.

As reporters confronted Cain while walking from his speech to the news conference room, he said, "Let me say one thing, I'm here with these doctors and that's what I want to talk about, so don't even bother asking me all of these other questions that you all are curious about, OK? Don't even bother."

Reporters then began shouting out questions.

"What did I say?” Cain said. “Excuse me. Excuse me!"

Reporters continued to pepper him with questions as he walked and security saying, "Step back."

"What part of no don't some people understand?" Cain said.

"What part of no don't some people understand?"

Maybe Cain should ask his accusers...

This arrogant a$$ is melting down faster then a 'nukleer' power plant!

Still wondering if anyone has seen or heard from Mrs. Cain?

According to the right wing manifesto, shouldn't she be standing by her man by now? lol

I wonder if Feisty thinks Cain raped someone?

I wonder if Feisty understands that all settlements are voluntary?

I wonder what the women did with their money?

I wonder how many more stories FR can do about this?

Funny how this seems so similar to what Biden did last week, his response to a reporter, which seemed to go unnoticed around here.

This guy is getting to be a total laugh a minute. But enjoy it now because it's unlike there are many more of those minutes left to come.

What part of "no" don't some people understand?

Dear Herman Cain,

It's the part where the Executive Director repeatedly approaches the female employees in a sexually suggestive way, after they've said "no", and they are forced to file a complaint to protect themselves, and then are offered a year's salary (a pitiful $35,000) and have to quit their job and swear that they'll never discuss it again in order to protect their boss and his organization. That's the part....

You know, it occurs to me that I am doing this all wrong, and all I have to do is interpret somebody's attempt at humor, casual comment, compliment...heck even looking the wrong way at me...and I can get a years vacation with pay for not telling anyone else that I am an oversensitive pain. I love the way everyone is ready to tar and feather somebody and there doesn't appear to be an action, an actual indescretion....rather than assuming it must be because they didn't want to lose the case in court. Looking at it another way, perhaps they didn't feel it was worth the expense, the time, the bad publicity, to go about proving it was a tempest in a teapot....Amazing how this woman is coming forward for her 15 minutes of fame right at campaign time, but was content with the settlement until the person who supposedly wronged her became a public figure of the first water.

Perhaps she feels that if she has information that disqualifies someone from holding high public office, she owes it to the public to reveal it. That's just as possible as your scenario.

    #6.3 - Wed Nov 2, 2011 5:49 PM EDT

How does it disqualify....I don't believe that sexual preference, behaviors are considered to be disqualifiers for any public office other than to the individual voting their conscience, but there is nothing in law to say that it disqualifies. The precedents have been set long ago by a myriad of high ranking political officials, among with are Senator Edward Kennedy, (implicated not only in an affair, but a wrongful death), and our former President Clinton both with Monica Lewinsky, and Paula Jones....(not to mention the hoards of women in Arkansas who all seemed to have something to say about his time at the state level of politics and the sheriff officers who came forward to say that they were impressed into service to discreetly shuttle these women in and out of Mr Clinton's quarters.

      July 2013,

Herman Cain is providing a textbook example of how not to handle a serious crisis of character in a political campaign. The heated rhetoric people like Mr. Cain and Sarah Palin have consistently used in attacking the media has colored their ability to handle themselves with dignity and professionalism when they need to. Cain's past transgressions are serious, and sexual harassment is no joke and no "liberal" smear. If Cain is serious about becoming president, he needs to come clean and apologize immediately. http://www.sunstateactivist.org

That "if he's serious" part is the crux of it...he never was, or he actually would have been, ya know, building a campaign instead of going on a book tour. You're right. This is another (as though we needed it) text book example of the worst in crisis response. Denial. Conflicting stories. Deflection. Everything but the truth. Any parent of any kindergartener recognizes how well this will work.

In cases like this, why do so many people say things like " well, so and so did the same thing but nobody says anything about that?" Just because other people do or did something wrong and didn't get called on it, does that mean that we have to ignore allegations of impropriety or excuse someone else who is accused of wrong doing?

It's also amusing in cases like this that people say "so and so did....and nobody says anything..." yet they are able to quote the stuff that "nobody says anything" about which means apparently someone said a lot about the other so and so.

Denials, more denials, media in endless dogged pursuit over every sexual detail, evidence and then finally admission, attempted impreachment , national and international disgrace and humiliation, all work in Congress halted and a legacy of a wasted second term. Is that what you mean by "worked"? Oh right...I forgot--Clinton is a Democrat. Anything short of burning at the stake constitutes "getting away with it" for the endlessly unhappy pitchfork faction of the Republican party.

How many times do we have to tell you we're not IN a court of law? This is merely the court of public opinion and the man says he wants to be president (even of women). All the public has is a vote. Answer the damn question (and that answer better not include parroting the wing nuts here that there is no such thing as sexual harrassment and it's just a made up excuse for those horrible witches to get innocent men in trouble.)

              #16.4 - Wed Nov 2, 2011 2:08 PM EDT

Mr.Cain should just keep repeating "I never slept with that woman."

If that doesn't work, he should say " I didn't know she'd drown if I left her at the bottom of the lake in my car."

Maybe the outsider schtick is about to start working. The funny thing is we all say we want a non-politician, yet most of us have a limited tolerance for lacking political skills. So, in other words, we want someone who has never been a politician but who has natural skills of a Ronald Reagan or Bill Clinton. Tough order to fill.

As Feisty noted, this particular bit of sniping at media will cause a few eyebrows to raise; especially among those who are already convinced he is a seriel harasser.
