Essentially it says that Walker's plans for redistricting Wisconsin before the upcoming recall elections are going to fail because there are not enough votes.

What, you say? How is this possible? Republicans maintained a majority in the State Senate, even after the recall.

Ah, but as I mentioned to you, the majority is only 17-16, and Dale Schultz, a moderate republican who voted against the bargaining bill, would be unlikely to support any more of Walker's radical proposals.

In another sign that Republicans don't have enough votes to pass the measure, the bill's author and committee chair Sen. Mary Lazich, R-New Berlin, told the committee members at Tuesday morning's meeting that they would likely vote on it and other recall-related bills on Wednesday morning instead.

"Obviously our caucus has to talk about that," Lazich said of the bill, which would change the date the new districts go into effect to this month instead of next November.

Her comments came one day after Sen. Dale Schultz, R-Richland Center, has said he would vote against the bill if it got to the Senate floor, leaving Republicans short on the votes needed to pass the measure assuming all of the Democratic senators vote against it. He said it would add unnecessary confusion for voters.

You absolutely must read The Wrecking Crew by Thomas Franks. This is a typical distraction, a bright shiny object that is trotted out for the specific purpose of keeping "Republican" cannon fodder occupied. This is their M.O., and it keeps their low-intellect minions from noting that the G.O.P. lackeys - McConnell, Boehner, Cantor, Kyl, and other RINO liars - are not doing their jobs.

They have been busy attacking women's rights to win the black hearts of the anti-choice group. None will win. What they have NOT DONE is to solve the unemployment problem as they promised. They are outright liars and now they have the nerve to come before us and piously suggest that we need a motto that says "In God we trust". This is beyond disgusting for a party whose only god is money.

Well it looks like the House has to bide their time while the Senate figures out who they want to tax.

It appears Senators Reid and Rockerfeller are lobbying for the rich to pay a just a "Teeny, Fraction More". Harry and John didn't mention anything about spending cuts, so this "Teeny, Fraction More" in taxes will have to cover the $1.5 trillion dollar deficits Obama is running.

Maybe Harry and John can introduce their latest tax scheme in the form of a FY2012 budget? Maybe have a vote on it? Or, God forbid, actually pass a budget? Or, maybe they can just talk about it, they're good at that.

Nov 2. 2010, elections were held throughout the country. The republicans campaigned on the slogan “Where are the jobs” and ‘smaller government’. They won a sizable majority in the House and closed the gap for majority in the Senate, mostly with Tea Party support. Since then, the 112^th Congress has accomplished nothing to create or even help create a better jobs market. In fact, it would appear by obstruction to have even made the situation worse, and they are happy about it.

They took their oath:’ I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.’

Does any fair minded voter think that they have faithfully discharged their duty as they swore to? It would not appear so from their actions?

Before this Congress took office, almost all of the republican/Tea Party, had signed Grover Norquist’s pledge not to raise taxes. Plans were also drawn up, that no one would deviate from the party platform or proposed legislation, the goal being at all costs, make Barack Obama a one term president. It was determined to work two weeks in DC and one week ostensibly in their respective districts. That plan, effectively shortens their work schedule, no matter how it is presented, so more time to stall the process in Congress or waste time would be a better way to look at it. For example, this month Nov. the House works a whole 11 days and in Dec a grand total of 6 days.

When they are in session, what is the first piece of business they take up? Social issues. Women’s Reproductive Rights, Abortion defunding, and other flaming necessities such as defunding of Planned Parenthood, NPR etc. This how they waste time and slow the process, so little if anything of importance, is ever accomplished.

In the States with Republican Governors, the concerns of the party for jobs (!) are cutting jobs and or benefits of government workers, including cutting funding to pay for teachers, firefighter, police officers, and union busting of those who would object to the loss of benefits and jobs. So working hand in hand with republicans in DC and in States, this Party, is systematically destroying jobs and doing nothing to create or foster an atmosphere to help create jobs.

Some people may not realize, that the GOP/TP party has their legislative agenda (federal and state) written for them by an organization, American Legislative Exchange Council, commonly known as ALEC. so when you send a GOP/TP representative to Washington or your respective State Legislature, their agenda is already set, they will follow the party line down to dotted i’s and crossed t’s.

I wonder how any reasonable, fair minded individual, would ever vote for a Republican/ Tea Party candidate, considering what little they are capable of doing. We have to endure another year of this inaction and we are paying these clowns…handsomely, and on the weeks off, any number of them fly all over the world, again on our dime, supposedly fact finding, if they find any facts, when would they use them, they are rarely working. Both sides of the aisle indulge in these practices, but by far the GOP/TP are the worst offenders, especially in this session. They do not deserve to be re-elected. Wake up people, we are being snookered by a bunch of elected ‘ insurgents’ who have the destruction of our country as their number one goal. The average American is disgusted as to how they have been betrayed by these politicians, evidence of that is all around us every day as the Occupy Movement continues to grow. The sense of unfairness in the system is palpable, this is why the people are out demonstrating every day of the week and being tear gassed in some states. Americans understand what fairness means, it has always been a hallmark of the American Spirit, those politicians who ignore the lack of fairness due so at their peril.

Well, then, Spanky, you didn't attend the seminar that I did last week where a well-known public sector management attorney suggested differently. And, pray tell, if you're right, then what DOES account for all those public sector layoffs in Wisconsin -- something like 9,000 last month alone?

As for the recall, I think you'll find that when the Ohio bargaining law goes down, it will be "Yes, we can" in Wisconsin, as well. We've only just begun here, Spanky.

The point about re-districting was this: Walker isn't the only recall target. Several other legislators will be eligible for recall come January. And now, it will be the districts that elected them, rather than the gerrymandered re-districts, that will decide those recalls.

In the long-term, it means that Walker's re-districting may never take place at all.

It also shows that Walker no longer controls the state legislature, and in that way, Democrats did score a victory in July and August.

As for DBO's point, I tend to disagree. Feel free to go off topic whenever you like.

Just to clarify the history here a bit.....there hasn't been a Ridleyville, PA for many many years. The church from where Reverend Watkinson supposedly made this suggestion is now Prospect Hill Baptist Church in Prospect Park, PA - and as far as that goes, the Reverend's actual motto suggestion was "God, Liberty and Law" - it was Secretary Chase who eventually came up with "In God We Trust". Which has never stopped our tiny borough of Prospect Park from claiming credit, of course - today there's a historical marker at the church and a big sign you can read from the street. That and the Morton Homestead (which may or may not have been where one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence was born) are pretty much our local claims to fame, however tenuous the claim may be.

That being said, I think I can safely say that the vast majority of my fellow residents would gladly postpone any official recognition of our role in history in favor of Congress devoting the same amount of time and energy - perhaps even a bit more - to what we elected them to do. You know.....jobs?

Funny thing though--the Moslems and the Jews (as well as other religions) have God on their sides too...so just exactly on whose side is God? There are numerous sects of christianity, many of which whose followers think they have a moratorium on rightness and orthodoxy--so again--which does God choose? I think Bob Dylan had it right:

Well Amy, I doubt if he would trust the Progressives. If he produced a thousand fishes to feed the masses today, the majority of the fish would go to the government to dole out to their supporters first, with the remaining few to be distributed to the rest.

Clearly, at least for now, the answer is no-- we haven't done anything lately to earn his trust. Instead of proposing this silly legislation these Congressmen should spend some time thinking about that.

If he asks us what have we done for him lately, what have we done for the poor, the sick, and the innocent kids caught in the grinder of unemployment, are we going to have a good answer. We gave more and more to the wealthy may not be the answer God was hoping for, from a nation with "In God We Trust as a National Motto", he might damn well be insulted.

Unlikely he would trust the conservatives. Handing out all those free fish would mean no profits, and we can't have any handouts without a profit margin for the rich.

I remember the heart of america being based on faith, tell all of those WWII vet's that they are full of crap. They remember a different america than the one you are remembering.

From whom is this message (motto, slogan??) and to whom is it addressed? If it is meant to be on behalf of the people of the US, it is forbidden by the first amendment and if its to God - he/she knows our heart and is probably pissed to be used in political gimmicks and sloganeering

How does my comment warrant your reaction? Taoists, Buddhists, Samkhya, Mimamsa, early Vaisheshika and early Nyaya are a few of the many religions that are Non-theistic" Only in Judaism and its extensions like Christianity and Muslim is there a belief in a god.

More than half of the world's population are Non-theistic so why would our Nation's motto be "In god we trust"

I too believe in God, but not in the right to impose my beliefs upon 42% or 22% or one other American; and that's because I AM an American.

Not speaking for the country or saying it is ok with what they are doing. But people can not down play the number of people who believe in God in this country.
