Mike McCaul (worth at least $294 million) and Darrell Issa (at least $295 million).
“Republicans may be trying to focus their messaging on jobs and the economy — and hammering President Barack Obama for campaigning — but they still have time for some red meat base-baiting on the House floor,” Roll Call reports. “To wit: House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s (Va.) decision to bring to the floor a measure that ‘reaffirms ‘In God We Trust’ as the official motto of the United States and supports and encourages the public display of the national motto in all public buildings, public schools, and other government institutions,’ according to the resolution, sponsored by Rep. Randy Forbes (R-Va.).”
“A Newsweek investigation found about five dozen of the most fiscally conservative Republicans ‘trying to gobble up the very largesse they publicly disown, in the time-honored, budget-busting tradition of bringing home the bacon for local constituents,’” PoliticalWire notes.

Gee, you suppose there is some key of some kind in this story as to how the rest of the nation has gotten into the shape it is in as far as wealth disparity? (other than good, old fasioned hard work, of course..)
There is a certain percentage of the population that is untouched by the recession and its aftermath. The very rich, and those whose jobs have not been affected do not have the same perspective as everyone else.
Add to that group Congress, especially those whose seats are safe, whether they are technically rich or not. Neither the immediacy nor the enormity of the problem appears to register with them. They view these concepts wholly in the abstract, and they certainly don't want these problems thrust in their faces by angry "mobs," as Eric Cantor made plain.
They empathize with those they consider their peers, and even more, they sympathize with those they aspire to be.

The game playing never ends with the neanderthal right wing. The "motto" flies in the face of the establishment clause, should never have been mandated in the first place and ought to be immediately retired.

Eric Cantor cancelled an economic speech at Wharton School of Business last week because three hundred tickets would be open to general public.
So now he is tackling the reaffirmation of the motto"In God We Trust"...???
Congress needs to pass a jobs bill so more Americans will have more dollars in their pockets with the printed motto that Cantor wants to reaffirm.

I'm old enough to remember reciting a pledge that didn't include "under god" and paper money that didn't have "in god we trust" on it. Somehow I grew to adulthood and became a good and productive person. Please don't tell me this stuff doesn't violate the establishment clause.

Their favorite virtue is Greed, their commandments are Thou shalt lower taxes on the rich, Thou shalt use the sons of the middleclass as cannon fodder, and Thou shalt undermine any elected official, even if it hurts the country as a whole, if that official is a Democrat.

@ Bob Jones - actually I have a job and do teach....but as has been pointed out - the GNOPERs are only interested in controlling women's bodies or working on mottos. I know that it is a hard idea for the "1%" to grasp, or even the "2%". There is strength in numbers and we ARE the 98-99%. We have watched Wall Street rule from the ivory towers in New York for too long and will stand for it NO MORE! The time has come for the lofty to come down from the clouds of tyranny and muddle in it with the rest of us. While middle and lower class wages have gotten NO gain, the C.E.O.'s of corporate America and the fat cats on Wall street have watched their profits go up over 600% over the last 30 years. While people are losing jobs, cars, and homes, these blights of America have been lining their pockets while laying off workers and out-sourcing our jobs in an effort to further line their pockets with the blood money of the other classes that they feel should live beneath their feet. We will NO LONGER bow down to your market speculation and turn deaf ears to your "The sky is falling" attitude as you make the needle of our economy quiver which ever way suits your benefit!

Cantor and the GOP need to reaffirm their trust in god. Because if they continue in the direction they are going their butts will belong to the 99%.
I am sorry, what are the rich exactly suppose to do. Get poor, give up all they have worked for, give you a personal check for what you feel you deserve.

The rich are to pay a fair tax. They have had 10 years of an incredible tax cuts that have cost our country billions in lost revenue. Now we need to get people back to work and the one segment of our country that is getting richer and richer need to invest in their own country.
Think of it like a family and mom brings home 500 a week and Dad brings home 50,000 a week. Well mom is having a hard time making it and ask Dad to share some of his money. Does Dad start yelling at mom and tell her it is family warfare and the money he earned is his and he doesn't care if she loses the house or not. She just needs to cut her spending and the kids can just eat less.
Or does Dad say of course I love you and the kids, you are my family and I can't stand by and let my family suffer and decides he can share.
If it were your family what would you do?
Stop changing the rules every time you get the chance to take
more. It's not the money the rich have worked hard for that anyone is talking
about. It's the money you steal by creative legislation and one sided tax
loopholes and many other ways the greedy have stripped the pursuit of happiness
from the life's of the middle and lower classes of this nation. Many of the
rich have a nice cushion to fall back on, most do not. So hard times for some
are just a bump in the road for others. It has to stop. Can't you see there is
nothing remaining to take. No one is asking for the rich to do anything but
help this nation get back on their feet. Why? Because you can and it's the
right thing to do. Read the book.

You are speaking of socialism. What part of you country states that the rich need to pay more so you have a saftey net to fall back on. What part of our country states that he rich owe you. Where is it in our constitution, wealth redistribution.
What is it that the rich are suppose to do? Give in taxes so they are not rich anymore. You want them to give 70 to 80%. Make them more equal?
What I'm talking about is justice for all. What I'm talking
about is laws that serve all Americans equally. What I'm talking about is a Government
that is not willing to sell their vote to support a few. It's not the middle or
lower class that is on the tit of the American taxpayer. It is the rich. Don't
talk wealth redistributions without looking at what has happened to the wealth redistribution
of our country. The rich pay more? Are
you kidding me or yourself? Socialism is
that the best you can come up with? It's called fighting greed not Socialism.
No one wants to take a dime of the money you have earned just want to stop you
from eating all the seeds.

Please tell me your plan. What would make you fell better. How much money are they stealing? How much of the tax payer dollar are they recieving. When you say eating from all the seeds, what part of that has to do with how much money one earns. You want what they have, you want them to pay more because they have more. Nothing new hear America! Progressive Power has known about this for decades. That both political parties are heavily involved in economic greed/donations. The GOP/RNC have taken it to a new level since 2000. The Economic Policies of "Brainless Bush" have helped the donations for all GOP/RNC politicians. Big time! The Big Oil donations/bribes to GOP/RNC politicians is way out of control. If anyone has doubts about this fact? Just ask the Koch Brothers on how money buys huge political favors. The "Hoodlum's On The Hill" voted for larger tax payer subsidies than at anytime before for big oil. That is fact!
