Lets go for more concise language here. Obama's broken promises: to run 'the most transparent administration in history." Hasn't happened, the press corps and even Helen Thomas (ya know, the typical jew-hating liberal), well she chastised the Obama admin for being highly hypocritcal AND NOT transparent for calling reporters the night before and discussing which questions will be asked during press conferences. This is Helen Thomas who was in the white house press corps for DECADES, AND SHE'S A LIB. So, how are you going to wiggle out of that one? So, broken promise #1. #2 was declaring that "if elected, he will bring our troops home from Iraq in six months." Well, its been three years and they wont be coming home until January. So, broken promise. #3 was promising to end the war in Afghanistan, but what did he do, not only did he NOT end it, he authorized a TROOP SURGE of 30,000 MORE MEN. Broken promise. #4 was promising to close gitmo, not only has he kept it open, but he has continued to allow military tribunals to be held there. Broken promise. #5, He promised that if we passed his massive stimulus package, that unemployment wouldnt go above 8%, it has been well above 8% for a couple years now. Remember him laughing and saying "I guess shovel-ready wasnt as shovel-ready as we thought." Broken promise, and how pathetic that he laughed about it. #6, He promised that if he we passed his health care law, that this would make health insurance more affordable for everyone. This hasnt happened, insurance companies are simply holding their ground because they have no idea how hard they will be hit when the law takes full effect (and I like how you Dems are for MANDATING people TO PURCHASE A PRODUCT or be FINED, how stupid). Anyways, broken promise. #7, The DOMA? During the campaign, Obama said that he felt marriage should be between a man and a woman and that he would uphold the DOMA (passed under BILL CLINTON) if elected president. Well, ol Barry O broke that promise too, now flip-flopping and telling the DOJ to no longer try any cases that have to do with the DOMA. Broken promise. #8, Obama promised to always include Congress in major decisions but has been the executive order president. Like sending air support in acts of war against Libya WITH NO APPROVAL FROM CONGRESS, he didnt even let them vote on it (but he did get the go from the Arab League, so I guess thats all he cares about). Broken promise. #9, Obama promised to bring our country together, but he has succeeded in doing nothing but polarizing our country to epic proportions. He is the most divisive president I have seen in my lifetime. Broken promise. He has given rise to the Tea party movement AND the Occupy Wall Street movement due to his failure to appease either side of the political spectrum. Oh, and Obama promised to raise taxes on the rich, but instead he passed the BUSH tax cuts which gave the rich tax cuts as well. Broken promise #10. Those are just the top ten that I can think of off the top of my head, there are many many more.

Ok so if you wanted to work in the public sector helping your fellow countrymen/women and mankind in general... you decide to work at a local, state, or federal agency or as an elected representative... you want to make changes for the better and have a certain mindset and expectations going in.

Obama is trying to make reforms to the establishment. He is not a member of the old guard in fact he is a JUNIOR. By conservative standards junior in all aspects.

As for labeling modern day conservatives TORIES in a reference to TORYISM of the 1700s, of course it does not accurately describe the mantra of today's Republican party I was only drawing parallels. In my opinion TORIES is appropriate as Republicans support protection of Oligarchs, are conservatives, traditionalists and wish to dictate their religious beliefs or personhood legislation on their "subjects".

Parrallels can be drawn between Democrats and the Whigs. Radical Liberalism during that time period meant support for a more representative Govt (Parlimentary) and opposition to slavery. Yes the Dems filibusters civil rights legislation in the 60s. Yes Bob Burd was once a member of the KKK. How is that now relevant? Individuals grow. Opinions and priorities change. People switch parties.

Modern day politics is cut and dried IMO. One party are hawks and the other are championing for the middle class. You cant deny that Elizabeth Warren is fighting for the survival of "commoners" and has no alterior motives.

Barack is an elitist because he attended Ivory League schools. The problem I have with that argument is that he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He did not receive $100k when he turned 18 yrs old. He grew up in a broken home and got into Harvard thanks to, dare I say it, affirmative action.

Is affirmative action no longer needed in our supposed post-race America? I cant answer that with any academic authority so I will just say that being a "mixed-breed" has helped me succeed in Corporate America. I am black but NOT black; I look Hawaiian. People when they meet me do not feel threatened. People are instead interested what my background is because hey who doesnt love Hawaii? Or who doesnt like the Phillipines? After speaking with someone on the phone, they are surprised that I am not "white" or as I like to say, of European descent.

I have found that Dems like to refer to Deficit charts organized by President and Reps like to refer to Deficit charts by who is control of Congress as each fits into their respective narratives. Just found the below site and shows that Obama has reduced our annual deficit by unprecidented levels.

Also, I am not quite sure how being "affluent" or coming from an affluent background means you will have a higher score on the SATs or LSATs. That is just silly. These tests are basic barometer tests of ones verbal and mathematical skills...so I am not sure how if my parents have money, this equates to my having higher test scores than the same kids in my class whose parents dont have money....That makes no sense to me at all...sounds like the typical blame the rich for my failings excuse that we see with the people pooping all over themselves and injuring police officers in the Occupy Movement...

For perspective (since you obviousy haven't a clue)....Berlin, Germany is closer than Hawaii. Moscow, Russia is only a few hundred miles further away. I repeat, GERMANY is closer than Hawaii. And Hawaii didnt even become a state until 1959 (as the last state). So don't act like Hawaii has some rich American heritage... No one is saying the Social Security doesn't need tweaking to remain solvent, and a significant number of Medicare's financial problems are addressed in HCR. But what would you propose instead?

So what happens to those who are 'unprofitable' and 'unproductive' such as children, the elderly, the disabled in your 100% free market world? There don't appear to be any safety nets. Unfortunately, as we have learned from the past, the privacy rights get thrown out the window when it comes to deciding who will be President of the United States. Personally, I have witnessed enough bogus "sexual harassment" suits to know that it is often cheaper, easier, and quicker to offer a settlement yet admit no wrong-doing then to waste a company's lawyers and resources to fight it out in court. Often times the accused has no say in the decision not to fight it. I don't really believe everything I see on TV.
