______________________
And so it is - October & Game 7. One team has yet to win a World Series, playing against one of the most storied baseball teams in history.
I'm so excited for this game. I have to go with Texas. I am a firm believer in every single fan experiencing the thrill of a World Series Title. {Of course that's easy for me to say. My team is out. As are the Phillies, the NYY, the Braves and Tampa.}
This World Series has been one for the books, and this is how the season should end. The 7th game. The players are spent, emotionally and physically.
Joe Buck. Tim McCarver. This is when they are at their best. Replaying the entire season in slow motion as each player steps up to the plate. As each pitcher takes the mound. As each manager makes decisions that will make or break their entire season. No one describes these scenes better than Buck & McCarver.
Enjoy the game everybody. And Clara, you must be thrilled! I can't blame you. And if you do win, my heartfelt congratulations to you. The St. Louis Cardinals and their fans have been able to do something that Boston and New York and many other cities could never do.
Have the support and respect of the entire country year after year after year. My hat is off to you all in St. Louis. I remember very well when we faced the Cardinals in '04 in the World Series. I heard one story after another how warmly Boston fans were treated in St. Louis.

My favorite of all baseball quotes.
"I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter; that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit." Tim McCarver
IR -- You really want to win that bet! I would. lol
I forgot to thank the entire staff at First Read so thanks guys and gals for your hard work and great reporting. Love the humor....it's keeps things in perspective so bring it on when possible. : ) Cheers everyone!
( Sheesz, some of these posters need to lighten up that's for sure.)
They haven't figured out yet that it's Friday and time to let our hair down! ;o)
Oh, HELL Yeah! Way to go CARDS!
How about them Cardinals! Wow what a team! What a series!
Great game all!! Congrats to the Cardinals and congrats to the Rangers for being pretty awesome as well. Love that Ranger coach... ; ) Class act.
Don't_carry_it_all: I'm with you. Class act. As Tim McCarver said, looking into the faces of the Rangers' players was agonizing. It was sad to witness. It always is when one team has to be a loser after such a thrilling series. It's one thing our country does really well - McCarver, Joe Buck, Al Michaels, Bob Costas - these announcers put into words so articulately what we the spectators are feeling when a team is about to lose a devastating defeat. And of course, when a team wins a spectacular series as well.
See you players next Spring.
Congratulations again Clara-your team struggled mightily all year, then turned it around in September, so that when the last pitch of the season was thrown, there you are left standing tall at the finish line, while some damn good teams got knocked out along the way. That's what it's all about.
I'm just sorry that people didn't want to root for the Rangers because of the GWB connection. It's not right. It's about the fans and the players. It always is.
On to football. And basketball, eventually I guess.
"To the sculptor form is everything and is nothing. It is nothing without the spirit - with the idea it is everything." Victor Hugo, 1885
On this the 125th birthday of the Statute of Liberty.
America probably could not have won its freedom from the British during the American Revolution without the help of the French. France provided arms, ships, money and men to the American colonies. Some Frenchmen - most notably the Marquis de Lafayette, a close friend of George Washington - even became high-ranking officers in the American army. It was an alliance of respect and friendship that the French would not forget.
Almost 100 years later, in 1865, after the end of the American Civil War, several French intellectuals, who were opposed to the oppressive regime of Napoleon III, were at a small dinner party. They discussed their admiration for America's success in establishing a democratic government and abolishing slavery at the end of the civil war. The dinner was hosted by Edouard Rene Lefebvre de Laboulaye. Laboulaye was a scholar, jurist, abolitionist and a leader of the "liberals," the political group dedicated to establishing a French republican government.
During the evening, talk turned to the close historic ties and love of liberty the two nations shared. Laboulaye noted that there was "a genuine flow of sympathy" between the two nations and he called France and America, "the two sisters."
As he continued speaking, reflecting on the centennial of American independence only 11 years in the future, Laboulaye commented, "Wouldn't it be wonderful if people in France gave the United States a great monument as a lasting memorial to independence and thereby showed that the French government was also dedicated to the idea of human liberty?"
Laboulaye's question struck a responsive chord in one of his guests, Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi, a successful, 31-year-old sculptor from Colmar, a town in the eastern province of Alsace, France. Years later, recalling the dinner, Bartholdi wrote that Laboulaye's idea "interested me so deeply that it remained fixed in my memory." So was sown the seed of inspiration that would become the Statue of Liberty.
A pedastal was needed for the Statute to stand on. But there was no money to build it.
The newspaper publisher Joseph Pulitzer, who had purchased a New York City daily, The World, in the early 1880s, took up the cause of the statue’s pedestal. He mounted an energetic fund drive, promising to print the name of each donor, no matter how small the donation.
Pulitzer’s audacious plan worked, and millions of people around the country began donating whatever they could. Schoolchildren across America began donated pennies. For instance, a kindergarten class in Iowa sent $1.35 to Pulitzer’s fund drive.
Pulitzer and the New York World were finally able to announce, in August 1885, that the final $100,000 for the statue’s pedestal had been raised.
Construction work on the stone structure continued, and the next year the Statue of Liberty, which had arrived from France packed in crates, was erected on top.
Today the Statue of Liberty is a beloved landmark, and is lovingly cared for by the National Park Service. And the many thousands of visitors who visit Liberty Island each year might never suspect that getting the statue built and assembled in New York was a long slow struggle.

Thank you for sharing that Pat!
I can always count on learning something from our very own FR historian... ;o)
I'm taking the liberty of re-posting something GOPisextinct has posted on a couple of other threads this morning - it's worth repeating 1000 x's over;
Thank you for reposting GOPisexcinct's beautifully written account of life in the trenchs. It brought tears to my eyes, and may he and his wife be blessed a thousand times over for their generosity and compassion.
I want to help, how can I do that?
Ahhh Pat, I felt that too looking at the Rangers bench and listening to the coach. As I had no home team in the series I picked the Cardinals to cheer on. Those Rangers sure made it a great series though and deserve some credit. Great post Pat!
Have a great weekend everyone.....time for some FOOTBALL!!!
Text them Mamma, give them the benefit of your knowledge like you do here on FR. Talk too them through any young person you know and tell them they got to send it to all their friends. Talk to them in a fair and honest and intelligent manner, encourage them, tell them to be non violent and considerate of all people at the protest sites. Ask them if they and their friends are registered and ready to vote democratic, because that is the ultimate protest site, explain to them that if they miss that one they miss the big one the that really counts. You can help them by just being an older wiser person who knows and tells them they are right about a lot of what they are thinking and then show them how to harness their energy and use it at the polls, start your own little voter registration campaign. When republicans unanimously kill legislation that would benefit them get that message out, every kid you text, has the potential to text more. Lots of young people could benefit from a sweet, smart Gingerbread Mamma that looks out for them, and gives them good advice, and it is awfully hard to say no to your Mamma.
to Pat,Feisty, GOPisextinct, GM, Forrest,
AMEN,AMEN!!
Thank you Forrest, you are truly one of the princes among men, I feel fortunate that we have a fair share of them here on FR and I might add some princesses too>
I will heed your good advice. Peace my friend.
Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value. Albert Einstein
Feisty, thank you for this post. I would never have seen it had you not brought it here.
Amazing isn't it how people can laugh at these occupiers who are doing the dirty work for all of us. Those adults in the car who mocked them do not realize that these people, together, are attempting to send one huge message to Wall Street and to Congress - on all our behalfs.
There is a wonderful story making the rounds in the media about the Hoovervilles back during the depression and how the people of America stood by them all those years ago. I guess there are still those in the media and elsewhere who are so arrogant that they refuse to stand with the people in this country who can't seem to get a break with the system we have created. Greed and yes - out and out theft.
Have they heard that BOA is cancelling the $5 fee for ATM usage? Have they heard that other banks aren't going to charge us for using our ATM card?
You can thank these people for that. President Obama has come out with two huge programs to help people refinance their homes and help students with their school loans. You can thank these people for that as well.
They are indeed making a difference.
As are you GOPisextinct. It's a wonderful story and a similar scene that is happening all across our Nation and yes, the world.
I would have thought that one of the Sunday morning programs would devote a measly hour interviewing these bank executives. It's the biggest story in the country right now.
When this year comes to a close, what will be the biggest story? Will it be Bin Laden, will it be Khadafy, will it be Wisconsin, will it be OWS, will it be the Arab Spring?
So much has happened. In one year. All good.
If we could just get the media to spend more time on voter suppression. This subject itself deserves an hour on every damn Sunday program. It gets right to the heart of our democracy. It's a dangerous precedent they are setting in the GOP.
And to think. People laugh at demonstrators, who only want to preserve our democracy, not sit by idly while it is being crushed. But that's what the GOP supporters do.
Nothing. They never have. They never will.

And now we have Chris Matthews selling his new book on tv about JFK - he keeps saying President Obama could learn a few things from JFK. Like what?!
President Obama is a man of character, a man of deep intellect, who didn't win the White House by having it bought (stolen?) for him by his father.
President Obama got to where he is out of pure hard work. He is an interesting man who has led an interesting life.
It seems we are always comparing today's presidents to past presidents. There is no one like President Obama. And never will be. We are fortunate he is our president. You can see it by the huge smiles he brings to the faces in all those crowds he meets, both here in America and abroad.
He doesn't need any freakin' lessons from JFK or anybody else.
Gingerbread Mamma, your too kind, I'm just a grumpy old pain in the butt, but my Momma has been gone a long time, and I miss her, so I am claiming you as my foster Mamma, because nobody has said such nice obviously untrue things about me since she has been gone!
We’re of course going to have the Halloween Spooktacular down at the Dew Drop Inn tonight. Full of costumes and special treats from all the Shareholders in the Inn and we’re going to make Merry and sometimes Foolish and just generally do the Monster Mash till the wee hours.
But we’re also going to do something else.
We’re going to hold vigil for Scott Olsen and we’re going to take up a collection to defray some of his medical bills. I don’t care which side of the aisle you set on there’s something wrong with a young Marine who has done two tours in Iraq, accumulated seven medals and has by all accounts made himself into an exemplary civilian being in the hospital with a Fractured Skull. All for trying to exercise the Freedoms that he fought and was willing to die for.
As another Marine Sgt. Shamar Thomas said last week in New York.
“There’s no honor in what is being done here”
As always my thanks and appreciation to our hosts for their time, giving me a little place to stand, a subject to comment on, a forum to put it in, and their indulgence when I don’t quite get it right or get a little off subject. I purely do appreciate it. Hope you’ll have a fine weekend and good fun among folks that you know and love. To my fellow participants keep well, keep safe, and keep the faith. We’ll make it. See you’ll next week
Drive-by how’s about before you start in on everybody’s favorite spookies playing a little bit of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” and “Uneasy Rider” in honor of old Charlie Daniels’ 70th birthday.
Hmmmm you were standing in a crowd with a bunch of rock throwers breaking the law, exercising your rights and something bad happens to you. I'm not sure it makes any diffrence if you were a Marine or not. Stupid is as stupid does.....
Please allow me to be the first to make a donation!
What the hell is WRONG with this country?
This isn't the America I know & love...
*shakes head*
UAW Speaking of stupid I don't remember Issuing you an invitation to the Party. It's limited to folks with an IQ over 30 which you obviously don't posses. Run along Child I ain't got time the time nor inclination to play with you today.
Come on IRV, Quit encouraging irresponsible behavior. If you and your freinds are going to take up a collection take one up for a Marine or a policeman who really was doing thier duty....
Excellent, IR. What a nice gesture to have a candle vigil for Scott Olsen. I heard he's doing better today but still having trouble speaking.
Looking forward to the Spooktacular at the DDI tonight as well. No doubt we'll have the big screen TV on, too. Go Cardinals.
UAW, you prove why the GOPTP audience cheers for executions, think it's ok to let the uninsured die and boo gay military men serving in Iraq. BTW, there is an investigation of the incident. The Oakland Police are also under federal investigation for previous police brutality.
That was a Marine that was injured UAW. Or do you only worry about those of the same political stripe that you wear?
Sorry folks I see that the representative from the not smart enough to pour pee out of a boot with directions on the heel crowd is going to make a nuisance of himself today.
ROTFLMFAO Floyd!
You can count me in - much to celebrate this Friday but we've also endured much sadness this week!
I'm not letting these yahoo's piss on my *popcorn* tonight! ;o)
New Day, It doesnt matter what your politics are. When you are standing in a crowd that is breaking the law and throwing rocks. Democrat, Republican, Tea Party, KKK, AFSCME, UAW, Navy, Army, Marine etc. etc. etc. etc. bad stuff can happen to you.....
There is no evidence that Marine was throwing rocks. You can't make it right, no matter how authoritarian you want to get. Or do you think that Jefferson and Madison were wrong?
The Devil may have went down to Georgia, but I believe she's taken up residence in New Jersey,...just sayin'.
I'm thinking we might have to keep the fire going going at Comeback Inn all weekend Betty. Dang weatherman says it's going to snow..........And yes while there is much to celebrate this weekend there is a touch of sadness too. Pass a little bit of that popcorn and we'll have a toast to Friends taken away from us much to soon.
He probably wasnt throwing any rocks. But if you are in a crowd that is throwing rocks and told to leave. It really doesnt matter bad stuff can happen in a situation like that. You don't have to be a conservative to use common sense....
UAW: The Founders weren't prudent when they took on Great Britain. They could have been hanged. The British considered them rabble, and trouble makers, similar to what you seem to be saying about the people marching in the Cities. The right to freely assemble is in the First Amendment. What is it that you don't get about that?
Ah NewDay - here we go again.
Remember way back when Giffords got shot? Sure you do - you literally went off the deep end, so convinced that the shooter was a right wing 'nut' spurned to act by Palin and Conservative talk radio.
My friend NewDay - all feelings and emotion, no thought.
So now you are all about Scott Olsen, who you appear to support because he was a Marine.
Now I don't know about the incident, but like UAW - if he was standing in a group of idiots dumb enough to throw rocks are dudes with guns and other weapons, then he gets what he gets. Guilt by idiocy.
But the reality is worse, which you'd know if you just pull your bleeding heart out of the sand.
Olsen hates the Marines. So much he created and ran a website called I Hate the Marines. Sounds like a swell guy. Someone who really supports our troops, right?
But wait NewDay, seems he also has issues with Cocaine and dope. Oh and he really hates then Jews.
So in closing NewDay - as I leave to get my costume on for the big party - take a breath. Act with knowledge, not in ignorance.
Stop jumping to conclusion regarding things you know almost nothing about.
Or don't because damn girl, you make me laugh.
Spanks. You better have some links if your going to slander the man. In my research before I put up my posts ( and I do research things before I put them up) I saw no indication of any of that. Prove me wrong.
Please don't feed the troll Floyd or you either NDD - he's been begging for attention all day!
We're having way too much fun to waste energy on him...
He does however, need to get the hell off your porch!
This is a private party!
Who spiked his Rum? Well Spanky, I guess you wrapped it up beautifully again, Olsen deserved what he got and he has no valid reason to gripe. The 99 percenters are just a bunch of whiners. "Get a job". Who are you supporting? Cain?
Oh no Tom, more like - don't throw rocks, particularly not at the police.
Words to live by my man.
IR, you are a capable guy. It took my about 30 seconds to find the info. I'd love to hear what 'research' you did. I do hope it was more involved than reading ThinkProgress?
Or you could just wait, I'm sure the might reporters her at First read will accommodate you.
IR - do you happen to know the definition of slander?
How does one prejudice the reputation of someone who runs a website like that?
I assume you support our troops IR? I presume you don't take kindly to people who hate Jews just because they are Jewish?
Aw, heck IR, since it's Friday, and cause I need to go get costumed up for a party -
go check out Olsen's twitter and you tube profiles.
See my man, Olsen is real good at 'slandering' himself.
Have a great weeekend all.
Oh I can see Spanks. In other words you got nothing but the general innuendo. Thanks you just gave me good reason to add you to the to stupid to pour pee out of a boot with directions on the heel crowd. Congratulations.
I don't read Spanky any more Feisty. Brain cells die if you do. So shan't know what he says, but no matter. It is the Dew Drop Inn Friday, and I am MUCH too happy!
No IR - there is plenty of info out there on Olsen.
I pointed to two places you can find his own words. "General innuendo?" Again, those are his very own words. Hard to get more direct than that, or is it you don't know what innuendo means?
What's the matter your research not turning anything up? Is that a surprise IR?
But by all means you continue to support the guy, his hatred of our troops and the Jews and his love of hard drugs.
Interesting choices you make. amusing, but interesting.
Like NewDay just said - thinking makes her brain cells die. So she thinks only Happy thoughts.
Yep, a winning plan, just like Hope and Change, right gang?
Ah shoot IR, now we got the left blog o' sphere all abuzz.
Seems it's all a vast right wing conspiracy against your fearless hero Olsen.
You must have missed all those sites, eh?
But they can't seem to get around those screen caps and the fact that his picture appears on the twitter profile, which also has the I Hate The Marines Corps .com website.
Oh and the qoutes. Oh my!
So IR - give me a prediction, based upon your vast research. How does this play out.
Come Monday is Olsen still a hero, or will the left quickly and quietly kick him to the curb?
Should be fun, especially for us boot challenged idiots, right? You got any pee in you boot?
It's admirable to get together and support an American who was injured standing up for what he or she believes in. You should check out what they are believing in though. Or maybe that doesn't matter. That we can all stand up for that which we believe is part of what makes this country great.
In addition to vigils and collections, why not take bags of food to the homeless that were chased away by the Occupy Chicago and other crowds. Seems the OWS don't take too kindly to sharing what they have with those have none. Ironic, isn't it?
Maybe not ironic. Just sad.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Spanky wooooooooooooooooooooooooooo effing hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!
My goodness what and ugly little bastard you turned out to be Spanks. You kiss your Momma with that mouth?
"Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people."
--Eleanor Roosevelt
Notice how we didn’t but up anything definite or attributable. Just some suggestions to go somewhere and to do this and that. Hoping that in all that is going to be written about Scott Olsen you’re going to find that one Right wing site that’s being set up to smear the young man.
Kind of reminds you of Shirley Sherrod don’t it. And we all know how that turned out.
The left is going to try and canonize young Scott Olsen.
The right is going to demonize and smear him.
I imagine we’re going to find the truth (for those of us who are willing to look for it) as lying somewhere (as it so often does) as somewhere in between.
Either way the young man is going to suffer.
The gentleman was a Marine. On that we can all agree. I was once a Marine albeit long ago. So I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt till he can speak for himself which he can’t right now. I owe him that as do all of us. Whether to support him or deny him after that point I’ll say to let your conscience be your guide.
As far as all the personal stuff up there I’m not going to answer it much. I’ve got a long enough track record around here to let my words speak for themselves. Some folks like it some folks don’t. I do always and forever try to make sure that I speak the truth and generally let the politics of the thing come out where it may.
If small minds talk about people then young Spank’s mind must look like a BB rolling down the Interstate. 'course that just my personal opinion don't cha know.
Just for you, IR
http://web.archive.org/web/20110130113227/http://ihatethemarinecorps.com/
Oh- he was NOT Honorably Discharged, either. So, we have here a drug using malcontent- and the media is exploiting his "veteran" status to give him some credibility.
He has none.
Moral of story- if you are in a crowd that is chucking rocks at the cops, you might get hurt.
I come from a military family that is also full of police officers. Neither throw rocks at the other. You need to find another "victim" to elevate to hero status. This on has feet of clay.
Sort of like your idol. . .
I'm going to the Occupy protests here in Des moines and pass out suckers this weekend.......
I know the perfect spot for you to plant one of your lollipop's...
Hint: Grab your ankles!
You'll never get in, Occupiers can smell a fake a mile away.
Are you giving out lollipops because they have been so good? Hope you have something for the cops too they could use some sweetness.
Should be an interesting time for the little band of hippies, anarchists and communists.
Winter is coming. Occupy Wall Street may quickly return to Re-occupy mom's basement.
A Stark?
Probably not a Lannister.
Hey all, it has been a week. What oh what have we learned? We have learned that when one of our community is grieving, we all grieve too. Usually, I use this time on Friday to poke a little fun at the Republican leadership and right wing, but I just can't do it this week with all the seriousness around us. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for stepping up and expressing your concern about our dear friend Beverly. There are a bunch of you out there that are class acts, and you know who you are.
IR: I'm with you on supporting that young marine that was injured in Occupy Oakland. Young man, back from defending this country and the right to assemble, and he gets injured like that. It is shameful. Any of you wonder why Jefferson insisted on a Bill of Rights, and why Madison included the right to assemble in the First Amendment? You'd have to think it was awfully important to them, wouldn't you?
Someone suggested an Irish Coffee tonight at the Dew Drop Inn, and that sounds awfully good since I have been playing around out of doors today. Beverly, if you read this, my love to you and your family, we are thinking of you, and I hope you feel us upholding you with prayer and good thoughts.
IR, let's get this party rocking...FEISTY! You aren't going to be late are you?
To my hosts, my thanks, to my friends and foes, a good weekend to you all.
Not a chance!
This one is for you GF!
I love ya!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=uHooH4464dQ
Newday and Feisty,
T'would be nice if freedom to assembly was as freedomogrifying as
'political speech'.
As for the spooky DDI tonight, I will attend but later on, as an oak sideboard.
NDD, perfectly said.
I'm ready for an Irish coffee.
Wait. You're coming later Backhouse. Whew. Thought I was going to have to apologize for setting my drink down just now on what I thought was a sideboard! See ya later!
Me too Jody! Slainte!
newday,
Be careful with that drink. I believe it is my second cousin twice removed.
Oh, my goodness, Backhouse, I do beg your pardon! IR! Which are the real tables?
You two are killing me! lmao
Reckon just to be safe you'll just have to not set that drink down Newday.
Fiesty, Newday and IR -- A week that started in tears for sure. Please tell Bev my heart and prayers go out to her and will continue to.
II've been reading on that marine. My prayers will include him as well.
newday,
The oak tables that don't swallow your beer be4 you does.
THAT'S what happened to my Irish Coffee. Well IR is right, firm grip on drink. DCIA: welcome to the Dew Drop Inn.! First drink on me
Thanks newday! I'll get next one and did Backhouse start without everyone, lol... not fair!
I'm back to buy my round everyone....need another! lol Put it on my tab...GO CARDINALS GO
OMG!! lol we're tied!!! Yeah
Let me just say GO CARDINALS GO again see if it works
DCIA, Thanks for the drink, and GO CARDINALS GO.
GO CARDINALS GO
Come on guys!!
Your welcome Northstar ; )
What happened to Bev? I'll send up prayers for her well being- but could someone please fill me in?
Her daughter passed away from an asthma attack...
To the Week Ahead Crew--you outdid yourselves today! Didn't know they still make those candy cigarettes. Have a great weekend.
The Des Moines Register poll is the gold standard.
Herman Cain's "9-9-9" gimmick plan is taking heat because folks are rational and they understand that it is a toxic recipe for higher taxes and a more onerous burden for the poor and middle-class. Herman Cain would usher in another depression and permanently kill the American economy. These experts are not idiots. Even conservative economists understand that a national sales tax is a regressive, unfair tax structure that forces more of a burden on the 99 percent of Americans that are not super-rich. http://www.sunstateactivist.org
mattpfl, well said. Rick Perry's plan isn't any better except no national sales tax.
Thanks to the FR crew for a fun video. Love the costumes... especially the headdress.
IR, Scott Olsen is dong better today according to the doctors report. His parents from WI have flown in and are with him.
I support him and all who are raising their voices in public spaces across the country. Could you put some CCR on the jukebox. I dedicate "Fortunate Son" to him and all the protesters. I know Mickey will love these tunes when he shows up :)
And I raise my glass of Jameson to all of you ! Cheers! Start the dancing and the jokes...
Northstar glad to hear it. Dancing is just getting started and apparently we've already scared up a Joke.
Northstar, Ir - do you support those who hate our military? That love cocaine and other drugs?
Do you support bigots?
If you don't you might not want to support that guy. See, he hates marines and the JOOOOS, and love Cocaine and getting high.
A real role model.
But come on now, it does explain why he was where he was, and likely what he was doing, right?
I was sorry to hear about Bev's daughter.
Spanky-- On Friday's it would be nice if you lightened up a little. Drink your Rum ,eat your blooming onion and please hold your anger until next week.
Wasn't it you Tom who mentioned a blooming onion for a blooming idiot?
Still LMAO at that one!
Anger?
You got it backwards Tom. Why would any of this make me angry?
Just hanging out, talking politics, or whatever it is we do here.
That you all support an idiot like Olsen is just more fodder and amusement for me.
But man, a Captain and coke and an Blooming onion sounds tasty right now.
I think I'll start with Captain and Coke.
Happy Halloween Tom.
God bless you and your family Bev. Hurry back to us.
Beverly. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. All of you at DDI have a good weekend.
You too lisa - good to see you back!
You Too lisa Stop on by later on and catch up. It's been to long.
Feisty and IR, Nice to hear from you guys. I've been in Europe the last couple of weeks. I should have brought back some treats for you all.
A nice pair of fine Italian stiletto's would of been nice lisa... lol
Or maybe some Belgium chocolates... ;o)
lisa: we have missed you!
Diane, Tom, good weekend to you both!
Feisty, I saw some beautiful stiletto's in Italy. Very very pricey though. I didn't even get a pair for myself. Didn't make it to Belgium this time. I did get to Croatia and Greece both beautiful. Got to see Monte Carlo/ WOW.
You too NDR--- I do enjoy poking fun at the righties but you gals and guys here at the DDInn are so well researched and on point that I just have fun just kicking back drinking a Stone IPA and watching the Republicans freak out. BTW, the GOP candidates are doing a real good job helping to get President Obama re-elected.
Cheers to you all!
Tom, cheers to you too. Glad you could drop by DDI. It truly is fun to see the Republican candidates self destruct each and every day...
but it is the weekend, and time to relax and watch the World Series.
NorthstarDFL ---I wish I could stop by more often. Too busy working I guess, but as they say "better late than never".
Slainte, Tom!
We always leave the light on for you Tom...
Cheers Tom!
Prayers and good thoughts to Beverly from here in California too!
Yes we Cain?
That's so dumb it's funny. As I've mentioned before, I'm really enjoying this Cain campaign. It's like he doesn't care if he gets the nomination or not; he's just going to have fun with it. And maybe that's the key. Maybe these cynical times are right for a candidate who doesn't have a burning desire to win.
I have been likening Herman's "Cain Train" to the Little Engine That Could, puffing along faster and faster, saying "I Think I Cain! I Think I Cain!"
It was five weeks ago today - Sept. 24 - that Herman Cain first caught my attention in a serious way. He won the Florida Straw Poll that Saturday with a staggering 37% to Perry's 15% and Mitt's 14%! As a Dem, I had been watching the debates, etc. and was thinking that Perry's bubble would burst after the disastrous debate just two days earlier where he stumbled over his poorly rehearsed litany of Mitt flip-flops. But I hadn't realized his collapse would happen that quickly! The vote for Cain in Florida certainly made me take notice!
Cain has been climbing upward every day these last five weeks. Five weeks! In this volatile campaign season five weeks is an eternity to be rising higher and higher!
I admit I really like Herman Cain! How could anyone not like him?! He is a sunny optimist, clever, funny, smart, and extremely personable. He has that elusive "it" factor that makes us stay interested - we want to see what he is going to do next His rags to riches story is the personification of the American Dream! He is so unlike Mitt and Rick who are both the epitome of the stereotypical "pol."
As a Democrat who supports the President, I have been thinking for weeks now that we Dems - and those in the media - should not underestimate Herman Cain! I think if he were paired with a more establishment figure - a Haley Barbour-type as his VP - it would be a formidable ticket.
The "Cain Train" keeps chugging along.....
DON'T FORGET! Herman Cain was a paid staffer at Americans for Prosperity--the money pit of the Koch Brothers. They wanted their own president, so look--here's Herman. Let's just buy the presidency for him and he'll continue as before when he actually was on our payroll. If you have Kinda "all the money in the world," you don't need much of a campaign organization.
