Subscribe to RSSCONCORD, N.H. -- Following a weekend of New Hampshire staff departures and controversy, Michele Bachmann made it official that she is running in the first-in-the nation primary. However, unlike most other candidates, she skipped the tradition of registering in person and instead filed by mail. Her paperwork and $1,000 check arrived this morning via express mail. Her filing is officially complete, Secretary of State Bill Gardner told NBC News this morning.
According to Gardner, 26 candidates have registered in total thus far for the primary -- 21 Republicans and five Democrats. The most Republicans ever to run in a Granite State primary was in 1992 with 25. With Texas Gov. Rick Perry filing Friday at noon and probably other lesser-known candidates yet to register, 2012 could be a record-breaking year for the GOP.
The only publicly declared candidate the Secretary of State's office has not yet heard from is former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, who put out a media advisory saying he is campaigning in Arizona, Oct. 27-29. So, unless he files today in person or this week by mail, his name will not appear on the New Hampshire ballot. The deadline is Friday.

It is interesting that the story did not distinguish what offices the filings were for....some could have been for state offices too. There is both a Republican and a Democratic primary happening, that is why I think the filings include those running for state offices too.
Someone needs to let this creepy little woman know that she is actually in a NATIONAL campaign.
Perhaps we should tell her that New Hampshire is somewhere in the south of Isreal. Then we can see how long she wanders the holy land before she figures it out.

Before you jump down my throat I wanted to explain my earlier post. Its very intimidating to post here at times, today seemed to be one of them. It would be nice to respond to some of the comments here without the noise. That's all I was trying to say.
It's all good Thetotas, it probably was not even you, but someone touched a nerve on me when they talk about an incompetent union worker who does not get fired, but defends CEO's, hedge fund managers, and bankers who have destroyed banks, companies and maybe a nation but continue to get million dollar bonus checks even after the destruction, even after their personal bank accounts were made whole. You know me a little bit don't take it to heart if I am a little too strong sometimes, I have no I'll will for you, Your post regarding Bevs heartbreaking loss touched me, it touched a lot of people. Please don't ever be intimidated by me or anyone else, your opinion and thoughts are as valid as everyone else's, remember we not agree and I am grumpy by nature, but that does not mean I am against you personally. No thanks necessary at all, I'll tell you the truth the first thing I saw this morning was the news of Bevs tragic loss, and I'm sorrowful for her and reminded of others. I think I don't handle sorrow appropriately, I think I process it as anger, and dark humor to some degree, and I'll also blame that Spanky too, for tweaking me with a "union monkeys" comment. The bottom line is I jumped all over you, and did not realize you were talking about something else, I jumped the gun, I was sad, I was mad, I'm a crabby old bastard, Spanky was on my ass, and I took it out on you, I apologize. Ha it's not Spanky's fault, I hope you know I'm kidding about that , besides I threatened to go out there and organize his employees for him and I did not hear from him for the rest of the day. thetotas: I did appreciate your post to Bev yesterday, as did everyone else. It was so fitting. I know how you feel about the level of discussion here sometimes, which is why I left. When it gets to the point that someone has to deliberately take a conversation not meant for them, mischaracterise what was actually said and try to define it in a way to suit a narrative they want to have, it has gone too far. And I know you regret your role in that.
So, maybe we should all remember that there are real people behind these nicknames. That would be a good thing.

Well said Biwheeler, political differences don't make us enemies, I think the republican leadership is starting to figure that out because now everytime they dismiss the presidents plans for a jobs bill his numbers go up some and theirs go down some. The American people are tired as hell of the us against them attitude, there is no them there is just us, Americans.

The majority of candidate filers in NH, where I live, do "mail it in." The headline was stupid and misleading. Most candidates do "mail it in."

Perry just lied during the Governor's race. Ran commercials on TV where he said we had a "balanced budget" and a "rainy day" fund.
We didn't. We actually had a shortage that was worse as a percentage of the state budget than Wisconsin or California. He had to use the rainy day fund to balance the previous years budget. He sued the Feds to get stimulus money to balance the budget. Our teachers don't have collective bargaining like the teachers in Wisconsin. He balanced the budget by cutting education anyway.
There is nobody in the race that is sleazier than Slick Rick, not even Gingrich.

The issue , Forrest is that what the liberal/Dems call a jobs bill and what the Conserv/Reps call a jobs bill are vastly different. While the rep/cons see mr Obama's jobs bill as another money stuff into the pockets of innercity (mostly Dem) and unions. The Dems see the bills passed by the congress sitting on Mr Reids desk reducing regulation and rules to allow business to foster as nothing but a cut for 1%. its going to come down to how many people vote for each side.(obviously) I know there are a lot of people in the urban environment because I live in one. But once you get outside the cities, people are not so receptive to the Dems point of view. You can see this in the disagreement on States that are NOT going Dem no matter what. The recent election of Boby Jindal is an example. The left on here went into a down right tirade over Mississippi.

Jolly, republicans unanimously dismissed it without even a debate on the floor, twice. Half the stuff in the bill was goodies for the republicans that they themselves previously suggested, there was a lot of stuff in that bill as first proposed that democrats did not like. Obama pitched one right down the middle with that bill, and the republicans took a called strike on that pitch, politically speaking, the bottom line is his numbers are going up, and no matter how bad some people think Obama may be, he looks better than anybody in the republican primary field, and the republicans in Congress are not helping the eventual republican nominee one bit. As a military man how do you feel about Obama's performance as CIC?

For conservative/Repubs a jobs bill means anti-abortion legislation, voter-rights issues (an attempt to keep poor people from voting), and other moral issues that have nothing to do with jobs. While the liberal/Dems jobs bill involve creating jobs.

if the dems are smart every sentence out of their mouth from here on out until eternity will be concluded with paul ryan and the medicare budget debacle. and yes, he was and is trying to destroy medicare and by default social security. once again, to be premptive, no private insurance company is going to give a 60 something year old a policy for 5000 when one lousy pet scan costs 8500- 10,000. just think about it. instead of raising the age, the nation should lower the retirement age to 60(not mandatory so no "socialism involved) thus allowing worn out physical labor types to rest in peace while freeing up thousands of jobs for younger folk coming up. a real common sense solution.
also, convert medicaid,medicare and va to a national healthcare policy. the money's already in place for this .

Robert, do you weigh out the issues and vote? Seems to me that the issues that face us are so large that they can't be "fixed" in 2, 4 or even 8 years. The world is not the same as say 20,30 years ago. I look at two things when I'm deciding who to vote for; what does it mean to me, and what does it mean for society at large. Both are equally important. The party that best meets those requirements gets my vote. When a party's main and only thrust is to "gain the Office of President of the United States" as its plan of action, I have to question how that meets those two points. Because of that one goal, I cannot vote for that party or candidate.
bilweeler, I thought I was the only life long Republican voting for the "dark side" in 2012. The Dems always ran the bad candidate, like McGovern, Carter, Mondale, Dukaksis, Clinton ( who now looks ok except for the BJ thing), Gore, and Kerrey. The GOP has taken the bad candidate thing to new lows. It makes me wonder if the Koch brothers are working for the Dems. After all David Koch sponsors a lot of programs on the socialist lame stream media PBS. Huntsman might be ok if he could just get past the wackos supporting the christian wackos and Captain Wacko Ron Paul.

From the actions of the republican house and the selection of GOP presidential candidates proposed thus far, I'd have to say they haven't a chance against Obama in 2012.
Seems like the only GOP candidate currently running that's even done his homework is Ron Paul.

In one of his last interviews, He seemed to realise, that some of the way he was talking would not work in the world we are living in now; but to me watching he seemed to skim past it thinking as he went, and trying to adjust his thinking, to see if or what , or how he could fit that into his way of doing things to make it fit his thinking!, He is an honest man, and has many good ideas, in my opinion, "but"some things are unchangeable when it comes to national security, and foreign affairs, in a perfect world I would vote for him!
But it would be hard to make decision's that sometimes demand compromising, some values to and for the ways to a better end, that would benefit, millions, while biding your time for the opening that would allow you to get everything you want! I do not think Ron Paul is capable of compromising very much of his values, and this could be a problem leading the country, where other countries regardless of what others think do have their right to govern their countries also1 TO BE FAIR I might not be completely right about this either! just saying I do think He is UN electable!
So I do agree that if he is the best they have running, they do not have a chance of winning, but who knows??? one thing I think he realised was the monetary system would be much more complicated to try and chage than he was thinking it would be!
To be fair sometimes when you are planning to keep trying, even if you know you will not win, it does not hurt to get into all the discussions you can, the publicity is priceless sometimes, even if its bad!, Michell Bachmann could be taking advantage of that, for a later date! there could also be other reasons! events do change and things do happen, so sometimes a plan could fail because of a lak of ten % effort!

Dale, Libya is a country in Africa. Africa is a continent of many different countries. Ms. Bachmann does not know that Libya is a country in Africa. I would want my President to know where we send troops, how many we send, what happened to them. I would want my President to be aware of the continents. It goes a long way in establishing Foreign Policy.

I'm not perfect and neither are any candidates, remember 57 states and corpsemen in the navy! The end is going to come down to, Do we keep spending money we dont have or do we become more fiscally responsible. Dale has an opinion, yes its different form yours! However in many areas of the country it is the majority opinion. Here were I live Detroit its not, and you can figure out why! however if you drive into mid Michigan you will find republican opinions, hence our Republican Gov and legislature.

However, in regards to the conflict in Libya which American military power had a role to play, servicemen/women send it harms way, knowing where that event takes place, knowing what part of the world it takes place is an unforgiven. You're making a throwaway statement. In doing so, you make trivial of this because it suits you to do so. I have met Americans who cannot point out Iraq on the map but talk of great patriotism. I have met Americans who spew about their constitutional rights being violated. When asked "which ones", they weren't quite sure outside of Guns and Speech. Not good enough. If you don't know, you don't have much to say. Many Americans I've had the opportunity to speak with regard the rest of the world as "unimportant". Only here, the land of the free, home of the brave is worthy. Mrs. Bachmann is an example of that attitude.

Somewhat like your 'Obama bribe' theory, I serioulsy thought months ago that republicans were being smart and sending out their goofies early in the primary (to get knocked down). That way, the real candidates would have more of their money on a shorter season. Still waiting for more goof's to drop out, though.
