On MSNBC this morning, we map out the early states and who has the most at stake.

And for my parachute pants reference, here's what played just before my hit:

Each and everyone of us stands to lose a great deal. Not that we have not already. From too big to fail to too big to jail and everywhere in between. This nation is crumbling not just it's physical infrastructure but it's very laws are falling apart. The far right thinks it is immune and that is laughable they in many cases stand to lose more

Um, the leaders have the most to lose, and the candidates currently behind have the most to gain.

Specifically, if Romney wins Iowa and then holds his lead as expected in New Hampshire, he's probably got the nomination.

Assuming he doesn't win Iowa, then the candidate who does will have contender status going forward, though he'd better follow up with a win in one of the next few.

If Cain holds his national lead but doesn't win Iowa, he'll retain contender status, though he'd better get a win in one of the next few.

If a credible contender exists after those first few - Romney doesn't have a chance and that contender wins the nomination. The establishment knows this, and will try to prevent things ever getting that far. The establishment wants a safe candidate for this cycle's strategy of making the election an economic referendum. The only milktoast candidate is Romney. Won't say anything newsworthy... ever... so boring, even his own flip flops don't excite anymore. That's the candidate the establishment has resigned itself to support. Anyone who tries to get in the establishment's way on this will pay a price.

Who has the most to gain, lose?

Amswer: America

We gain more freedom and liberty if Obama fails in his re-election

We lose more freedom and liberty if Obama is re-election

"We can’t wait"

for Nov 2012 when Obama will be voted off the island. . .

1. ObamaCare

But this just shows that you think that the government should be doing every thing when in fact, it should only be doing 18 things and does those very BADLY.

So you lost your freedom to choose a doctor? to get emergency care? to pay too much to an insurance company? As a small business owner our coverage has increased with a new policy and monthly premiums have come down. Can finally afford overdue colonoscopy (oh fun!) - Thank you Obamacare!

And no I'm not being snarky. It really has helped us!

"1. ObamaCare"

That's one, but it's not very convincing. WHAT freedom have YOU lost because of ObamaCare?

And- How, exactly dose this 'show' what I think about anything??

How the freedom to CHOOSE weather I have health insurance or not and the freedom to CHOOSE what kind of insurance I will have that best suits me and mine instead the the government TELLING be by force of the IRS what the min insurance I will have and forcing me to buy a product I may or may not need or want. My health insurance every month has gone UP since this was passed by close to 15%. I beleive that after 1/1/2014 when this shambles goes completly into effect, ALL of our premiums will go up and most businesses will just send people to the government plan as it will save them more money in the long run becaue the cost of not providing the insurance is less then the cost of providing it.

How, exactly dose this 'show' what I think about anything??

Because this is not a function of the federal government and by you excepting this, shows you think it is. Show me in the us constitution where the feds can force an american to participate in commerce or fine them for not. Show me where Obama and the congress gets it's authority to do this.

Not to mention the new tax hikes and new taxes with obamacare

Your taxes went up with Obama care?

    #9.6 - Wed Oct 26, 2011 4:01 PM EDT

Son.... your state requires you to buy car insurance of a minimum coverage or prove that you have assets of equal value to cover yourself. How is that any different than requiring you to buy health insurance? And with a single serious illness potentially hitting you for over a million dollars, why in hell would you chose not to carry health insurance unless you enjoy the idea of bankruptcy! People like you argue in circles against your own best interests!

The Republican's ONLY chance of gaining the White House in 2012 requires nominating Romney--and he's going to have trouble too.

Any other Republican nominee becomes Barry Goldwater to President Obama's Lyndon Johnson.

In Nov 2008, President Obama made American history by being the first black American to be voted as President of the US.

In Nov 2012, President Obama will again make American history by being the first black American to NOT get re-elected for a second term as President of the US.

Most to gain from GOP early primary states : Wealthy people who feel that it's everyone else's responsibility to pay for the country that was so great that the wealthy could make a fortune living there, while ensuring that their own tax burden is reduced time and time again by the GOP.

Least to gain from GOP early primary states : Everyone else

Forget the "rich." Think about the 50 million elderly people on Social Security. No cost of living raise in two years. Next year we finally get a raise, which will buy a tank-full of alcohol tainted gas. Then Obama is going to raise our premium on part B of our Medicare! That will kill the raise we get. One thing about us old folks. WE VOTE! Adios Obama!

    Reply#13 - Wed Oct 26, 2011 1:47 PM EDT

Obama is allowing the "raise" because he wants the elderly to think he is helping them for the votes, then he is going snach it away from you because under our us constitution, he won't need those votes any more.

Our President doesn’t have anything to do with when or how much COLA is given to anyone on SS. It is set (formula) by and can only be changed by Congress.

    Dennis,

sonmanvb and Burnie are trolls. They would have you believe that a GOP candidate will protect or enrich your Social Security and Medicare benefits, when in fact the GOP candidates have all spoken out often and repeatedly about how those programs need to go.

Anyone that listens to either of them is a fool. Republicans have been trying to destroy Social Security and Medicare since they were adopted. They would have us replace them with Wall Street investments managed by, guess who, their biggest contributors and the very people that we had to bail out two years ago otherwise they were going to drag down the entire world economy. My private Wall Street investments have lost 18% during part of that time. I'm not going to gamble with my Social Security or Medicare benefits too. Older voters should be very scared of these GOP candidates. They are brazen in their desire to take from the poor and give to the rich.

    Vote Obama!

Guess who is going to pay for Obama's multi-trillion dollar pile of money shoved down a rat-hole? Yep! You got it! The wannabes camped out in the pseudo Hippie Commune on the streets of N.Y. It even has the putrid smell of those ancient Communes. Is that Bongo drums I hear? Where did this cloud of smoke come from? Oh, well, they're happy living in their own $hit and pee! They haven't had a bath in weeks. Whew!

God's message to Michele Bachmann.....get out NOW!

God:Hello Michele, this is God speaking....

MB: Yes, Lord I hear you....give me direction.

God: Well, Michele, I'm going to have to ask you to fold your tent and go home. I don't want you running for President anymore.

MB: But why Lord, why? Why did you put this burden on me in the first place if you didn't want me to run?

God: Well, Michele, do you remember the story of Abraham and Isaac? I told Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac and then just when he was about to kill Isaac, I stopped him and said I was just testing his faith. It's kind of a joke amongst us deities. We like to see how far people will go.

MB: But Lord, I left all my kids and my foster kids at home, I traveled all over the country, I spend weeks and weeks and millions of dollars on this. Why would you play a joke like this on me?

God: Well, Michele, it started out as a joke. A joke that I played on seven other Republicans, too. But I got so engrossed in trying to figure out how 999 was going to work and all the Romney flip flops, and then there was the Romney/Perry tussle, and that whacky Ron Paul guy. I just forgot to tell you that it was over a few weeks ago. I'm sorry, it slipped my mind. But it is over, Michele.

    MB: But why Lord, why???!?!?

God: Well, I think I got bored when you started talking about how I was punishing the United States for running deficits by sending fires and hurricanes. The truth is, I'm running a deficit up here in heaven right now.

MB: Really, Lord, you're using deficit spending?????

God: Have to. It's expensive to run a universe. Remember, money is the root of all evil. Just make sure to put some in the collection basket next Sunday....and send it my way. See you later, Michele.

    MB: Bye, Lord.

To all those @holes who want to vote republican, you must be either stupid or part of the greedy rich. Did you know that the ten poorest states in the union were republican states! Did you know that the repubs want to do away with Social Security and Medicare????? Did you know that the teabaggers are funded by the Koch brothers (both billionaires - part of the greedy rich).

Vote Democrat that is the only way to save this country.

PS: Did you also know that the huge corporations are not hiring because they can get the same amount of work done with less people,in tis way the upper tier can make money hand over fist. That's the Republican way, bleed the middle-class and kill off the poor.. Once they begin hiring, they will probably lower all the pay scales too. Afterall they are many desperate people willing to take anything.
