Obama agenda: Out West

“Across America, despite the hundreds protesting for limited government or more government action, a broad swath of the middle class hit hard by the crash in housing prices is quietly resigned, given up on seeing any relief -- particularly from politicians,” the AP reports.

“Some glitz, some glamor and plenty of campaign cash. President Barack Obama is hitting a reliable fundraising trail in California, tapping star donors and trading quips with Jay Leno in what is for him a well-worn path,” AP writes.

The New York Daily News notes that Obama’s trip, though, politically is all about Hispanics.

“President Obama did an end-run around Congress on a trip to Las Vegas yesterday, launching an expanded program to help down-on-their-luck homeowners refinance their loans -- while hitting the jackpot for his campaign at a fund-raiser at the Bellagio Hotel,” the New York Post adds.

“President Obama's approval rating in Gallup's popularity tracker went up 6 points in the past week - to 44%,” The New York Daily News notes. “Obama's poll numbers jumped in the wake of the Thursday slaying of Libyan strongman Moammar Khadafy.” It’s worth pointing out Obama’s approval rating in the NBC/Wall Street Journal poll has been 44% for the past two months.

“Joe Biden’s office has complained to the Senate press gallery about a confrontation the vice president had with a conservative journalist last week on Capitol Hill,” The Hill reports. “Biden aides asked whether Senate rules were broken in the wake of the contentious exchange between the vice president and the reporter.”

“President Obama’s reelection campaign has hired a former lobbyist to serve as a senior adviser to the 2012 team,” The Hill reports. “The Obama campaign announced Monday the hiring of Broderick Johnson, a veteran of the Clinton White House and Sen. John Kerry’s (D-Mass.) 2004 presidential campaign.”

Bob, I'm not sure what you're getting at. Broderick is a FORMER lobbyist, not a current one. Are you in favor of having lobbyists influencing the political debate or against it? If you are against it, are you also tracking the lobbyists and former lobbyists influencing the GOP?

Bob, go easy on the libbies! Sure their snarking is juvenile and pointless but they are in denial of the truth!

Barack Obama is the best thing that has happened to America in the last 100 years. Truly, he is the savior of America’s future. He is the best thing ever.

Despite the fact that he has some of the lowest approval ratings among recent presidents, history will see Barack Obama as the source of America’s resurrection. Barack Obama has plunged the country into levels of debt that we could not have previously imagined; his efforts to nationalize health care have been met with fierce resistance nationwide; TARP bailouts and stimulus spending have shown little positive effect on the national economy; unemployment is unacceptably high and looks to remain that way for most of a decade; legacy entitlement programs have ballooned to unsustainable levels, and there is a seething anger in the populace.

That’s why Barack Obama is such a good thing for America.

Obama is the symbol of a creeping liberalism that has infected our society like a cancer for the last 100 years. Just as Hitler is the face of fascism, Obama will go down in history as the face of unchecked liberalism. The cancer metastasized to the point where it could no longer be ignored.

Average Americans who have quietly gone about their lives, earning a paycheck, contributing to their favorite charities, going to high school football games on Friday night, spending their weekends at the beach or on hunting trips — they’ve gotten off the fence. They’ve woken up. There is a level of political activism in this country that we haven’t seen since the American Revolution, and Barack Obama has been the catalyst that has sparked a restructuring of the American political and social consciousness.

Think of the crap we’ve slowly learned to tolerate over the past 50 years as liberalism sought to re-structure the America that was the symbol of freedom and liberty to all the people of the world. Immigration laws were ignored on the basis of compassion. Welfare policies encouraged irresponsibility, the fracturing of families, and a cycle of generations of dependency. Debt was regarded as a tonic to lubricate the economy. Our children left school having been taught that they are exceptional and special, while great numbers of them cannot perform basic functions of mathematics and literacy. Legislators decided that people could not be trusted to defend their own homes, and stripped citizens of their rights to own firearms. Productive members of society have been penalized with a heavy burden of taxes in order to support legions of do-nothings who loll around, reveling in their addictions, obesity, indolence, ignorance and “disabilities.” Criminals have been arrested and re-arrested, coddled and set free to pillage the citizenry yet again. Lawyers routinely extort fortunes from doctors, contractors and business people with dubious torts.

We slowly learned to tolerate these outrages, shaking our heads in disbelief, and we went on with our lives.

But Barack Obama has ripped the lid off a seething cauldron of dissatisfaction and unrest.

In the time of Barack Obama, Black Panther members stand outside polling places in black commando uniforms, slapping truncheons into their palms. ACORN — a taxpayer-supported organization — is given a role in taking the census, even after its members were caught on tape offering advice to set up child prostitution rings. A former Communist is given a paid government position in the White House as an advisor to the president. Auto companies are taken over by the government, and the auto workers’ union — whose contracts are completely insupportable in any economic sense — is rewarded with a stake in the company. Government bails out Wall Street investment bankers and insurance companies, who pay their executives outrageous bonuses as thanks for the public support. Terrorists are read their Miranda rights and given free lawyers. And, despite overwhelming public disapproval, Barack Obama has pushed forward with a health care plan that would re-structure one-sixth of the American economy.

I am under no illusion that the Republican party is perfect, but at least they’re starting to awaken to the fact that we cannot sustain massive levels of debt; we cannot afford to hand out billions of dollars in corporate subsidies; we have to somehow trim our massive entitlement programs; we can no longer be the world’s policeman and dole out billions in aid to countries whose citizens seek to harm us.

Literally millions of Americans have had enough. They’re organizing, they’re studying the Constitution and the Federalist Papers, they’re reading history and case law, they’re showing up at rallies and meetings, and a slew of conservative candidates are throwing their hats into the ring. Is there a revolution brewing? Yes, in the sense that there is a keen awareness that our priorities and sensibilities must be radically re-structured. Will it be a violent revolution? No. It will be done through the interpretation of the original document that has guided us for 220 years — the Constitution. Just as the pendulum swung to embrace political correctness and liberalism, there will be a backlash, a complete repudiation of a hundred years of nonsense. A hundred years from now, history will perceive the year 2010 as the time when America got back on the right track. And for that, we can thank Barack Hussein Obama.

I take it that you think that an occasional exposure to the effects of extreme liberalism is a beneficial 'reality check' for future reference.

Unfortunately, the huge cost - over $4.2 Trillion in additional debt in only 33 months, will be hard for our children and grandchildren to repay. That's pretty expensive 'medicine'.

"This is the fight that we're going to have right now, and I suspect this is the fight that we're going to have to have over the next year," Obama told about 240 donors at a fundraising event earlier Monday at the Bellagio hotel and casino in Las Vegas. "The Republicans in Congress and the Republican candidates for president have made their agenda very clear."

The Las Vegas fundraiser attracted about 240 people who paid from $1,000 to $35,800 toward Obama's re-election campaign and to the Democratic National Committee. The bigger donors met the president personally.

Why can't he just say he is out on a re-election tour on the backs of the tax payer.

Way to go Obama, not that you got rid of Gadhafi what exactly is your plan for Libya? Oh wait, there was no plan because the transitional leader said the following...

"You should only embrace honesty, patience, and mercy," Abdul-Jalil told the crowd at the declaration ceremony in the eastern city of Benghazi, the birthplace of the uprising against Gadhafi. He urged Libyans to reconcile their differences.

And he laid out a vision for the post-Gadhafi future with an Islamist tint, saying Islamic Sharia law would be the "basic source" of legislation and existing laws that contradict the teachings of Islam would be nullified. In a gesture that showed his own piety, he urged Libyans not to express their joy by firing guns in the air, but rather to chant "Allahu Akbar," or God is Great. He then stepped aside from the podium and knelt to offer a brief prayer of thanks.

All together now "Allahu Akbar", "Allahu Akbar"...

And this is different from Gov. Perry and his religious gathering HOW? How is it any different for Muslims to have an Islamic faith-based society than it is for Americans to have a Christian faith-based society? By your logic, we should get all religious ( influence, all prayers out of our society so we can tell other nations to get it out of theirs.

I do know about the missions of some churches--some truly give unconditional assistance to the poor. The ones I am speaking of are the ones who give aid with the condition that the "heathens" convert to their version of "christianity" and who wish to impose their brand of religion on the rest of us. If there is so much compassion amongst the TPGOP right wing "christians" why do they cheer at the idea of capitol punishment that may kill innocent people, why do they cheer at the idea of a 30 year old man without health insurance being left to die without care, why do they boo at a gay soldier that has put his life on the line to protect the rights of said group to have their own opinions, who care more about the unborn than those who are living now, hate the elderly and the poor, involve us in endless wars, and are willing to create even more poverty and misery? The poverty these folks are deliberately trying to create dwarfs the amount of mission work that churches are capable of providing to the poor. Read the laws? From where I sit--the TPGOP and the uberwealthy are trying circumvent the laws! You are the one who needs to read and understand history as well as current events! Remove the log from your own eye! The destruction of my country by the uberwealthy and the ignorant is why I and others sometimes consider expatriating--and believe me,there are other countries that do a much better job at taking care of their citizens!

He worked as a Mormon missionary, he worked in his ward in Massachusetts.... isn't that the same thing? We can now all start calling Gov. Romney a "neighborhood organizer" too. Or we can call him an "inept French-speaking missionary." And we can call Herman Cain a "burger flipper" since he had that job at one time. We can call former Speaker Newt Gingrich a "polygamist" since he has had more than one sexual partner at a time. It's an endless game. In point of fact, President Obama has had many jobs and positions over time, just as the others have. His current position is that of President of the US, Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.

MRWSR, there's hardly any point...you have the facts available to you. However, President Obama worked as a community organizer, then went to law school, worked in New York at a private firm for a year, moved to Chicago and worked as a civil rights lawyer (private sector) and as a professor at the U of Chicago (private university). He then was a state legislator in Illinois, then a Senator. He has seen how government works at a state and national level, he has taught the law and has practiced law. That is a good amount of experience for someone who wants to run our country. In addition, he has done this without having had parents who could open doors for him (Romney's father also ran for President and was governor of Michigan).

I bought and "flipped" 17 houses in Nevada. The 18th one I got caught in the bursting bubble. I was making up to $30,000 on each house I flipped at the peak. Can't sell this one. If Obama wants to help me pay for it, that's fine with me. In fact, that's REAL fine with me. LOL

Are you a member of ACORN or are you a member of a group that is eligible for membership in ACORN, the Black Liberation Theology Church, New Black Panthers, generational welfare subculture or similar groups? If you work for an honest living and are not one of his primary support group members, Obama ain't gonna do nothing for you.

Now I know why China has been able to walk all over us.

It’s not every day that the Government Accountability Office (GAO) reports that the Executive Office of the President violated federal law, but that’s the conclusion the GAO released in a report this month, after reviewing bilateral talks with the Chinese government hosted by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP).

          This ought to be interesting.

You might want to question Obama's primary loyalties. Of course we know his first loyalty is to Obama but what about his loyalty to country?

Your Affirmative Action President's mortgage modification ploy can help people who don't need help. It can do nothing for his no-to-low income supporters. To help them he needs to come up with an Affirmative Action mortgage loan scheme for people who don't qualify for any kind of loan in the real world.
