Santorum raises $700,000 for the quarter

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum reported raising more than $704,000 for the 3rd fundraising quarter, his campaign announced this morning. More than half of that total, it added, was raised during the final three weeks of the period (from July 1 through Sept. 30).

However, the Santorum campaign has just about $190,000 in the bank as of Sept. 30. The senator raised nearly $600,000 in the 2nd quarter.

Team Santorum also announced it was canceling its campaign events in Nevada, protesting the state's caucuses that are scheduled for Jan. 14. "While Sen. Santorum appreciates the hospitality of the people of Nevada, he is concerned that Nevada's decision encroaches on Iowa and New Hampshire's election calendar and may push them into the Christmas season," said Communications Director Hogan Gidley.

That said, Santorum will still participate in the Oct. 18 debate in Nevada.
