Huntsman threatens to boycott Nevada's caucuses

MANCHESTER NH--Republican presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman will boycott the Nevada caucuses if the state "continues to jeopardize" the New Hampshire first-in-the-nation primary status, his campaign threatened Thursday.

"The Huntsman campaign will boycott the Nevada caucus as long as the state continues to jeopardize New Hampshire's primary date," campaign manager Matt David said in a statement.

The Nevada caucus, which was recently scheduled for January 14, has thrown the primary calendar into confusion. The earlier date could push New Hampshire into early or mid-December, Secretary of State Bill Gardner said in a memo yesterday. New Hampshire state law requires the Granite State's primary to occur seven or more days before "any similar contest." Gardner confirmed yesterday he views Nevada's Republican caucus as such.

Huntsman's campaign has called on other campaign to join the boycott "especially Governor Romney's campaign, given their involvement in moving Nevada's date forward," David said. So far no other campaigns have voiced interest.

Last week, the Huntsman campaign accused the Romney campaign of pushing GOP official in Nevada to move up the date. On today's allegations, Romney spokesman Ryan Williams reaffirmed what he told NBC News last week.

"Governor Romney is firmly committed to preserving New Hampshire's first-in-the-nation primary," Williams said.

"Governor Romney is also competing in every other nominating contest across the country - whenever they are scheduled," he said. "Governor Romney has consistently supported Nevada's status as an early nominating contest that follows New Hampshire."

Huntsman, who is struggling in national polls, has centered his campaign's focus on New Hampshire. The headquarters is in the process of relocating from Orlando to New Hampshire.

"We need to do well here," Huntsman told reporters last week.

***UPDATE*** Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich joined the boycott movement Thursday, and pressured Romney and Texas Gov. Rick Perry to do the same.

"As a candidate for president, I am committed to competing in and maintaining the first in the nation status of the New Hampshire primary. Therefore, I will not compete in a state which holds its contest inside of one week of New Hampshire," he said in a statement. "I trust Governors Romney and Perry will join me in protecting the New Hampshire primary and campaigning in New Hampshire towards a January 10th primary contest."

Why don't the politicians keep out of state law. Let the states make their laws. As for Huntsman-- drop out -- good riddance. He makes a much better minion of Obama.

We don't need these 1, 2, or 4 year billion dollar campaigns either, gary. What we need is a single national primary date just eight weeks prior to the federal general elections, with primary campaigns beginning just 60 days prior to the national primary election. That is what the Popular Amendment Movement is trying to achieve with the Election/Campaign Finance Reform constitutional amendment. Go to www.faircampaignreform.us or http://wh.gov/4Qu and get involved. Email the links to all of your friends. IF we get over 5,000 signatures by 10/27 on the White House petition site, it will advance to the president for his review. When I posted the petition there last month, there were over 80 different petitions posted on the site. That is the true "voice of the people" opportunity.

Huntsman had been Governor of the state of Utah, from what I hear he was quite popular there. Obama appointed him as the US Ambassador to China for his diplomatic skills and his ability to speak Mandarin Chinese. Huntsman resigned from his Ambassador post in order to run for President of the United States.

His advantages in the Republican primary is that he has very few blemishes in his political career, a reasonable approach to issues that gives him widespread appeal, and no embarrassing business deals (at least, none that we know of). His disadvantages is that he isn't well known outside of Utah, his intelligent reasonable approach doesn't sit well with the Teapublican extremists, and he's a Mormon.

He doesn't stand a chance of winning the Republican nomination, and I fully expect the primaries to eliminate every Republican moderate enough to have a chance against Obama. The Teapublicans are determined to nominate someone so insanely extremist that it will drive the moderates and independents to vote for Obama instead.

It's time to provide time limits on political campaigning; I don't watch TV much, but all the excessive campaign competition is nauseating. The only reason for having to be drenched with all the political propaganda is that money evaporates up and the propaganda rains down.

Why should states like Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina exert such disproportional influence on deciding the nominee? Iowa's capitalized on the early caucuses by raking in billions in taxpayer subsidies for the corn industry, and inflicted high fructose corn syrup on us as payback.

Why is this guy not getting any traction? Answer: He's not extreme enough or hyper-religious enough, or Tea-Baggy enough to capture the attention of the slowly rotting non-mainstream loony Republican core.

                            Matthew 21:12; Mark 11:15-16; Luke 19:45

After He entered Jerusalem, Jesus went to the holy temple. The temple was the house of God and He had called it His Father’s house. When Jesus entered the temple He was not happy with what He saw. Two years earlier, Jesus had run through the temple, throwing out all the loud and greedy people but they had come back.

The moneychangers forced the people to pay high prices for the animals they must buy as sacrifices. As a result many poor people became even poorer whenever they went to the temple to worship God. That was not the way God wanted the poor to be treated. Jesus knew this and as he looked around He became angry.

“No!” He cried out. “This is my Father’s house, you cannot do this!”

He ran and turned the moneychangers’ tables over and coins splashed onto the ground. People shrieked as they ran in every direction and birds escaped their cages and flew frantically out the windows as Jesus went from corner to corner, throwing all the greedy people out. Jesus rushed from one side of the temple to the other. He yelled at the moneychangers. “God said that this place was to be a house of prayer, you have turned it into a robbers’ den!”

When He had finished, Jesus stopped and looked around. The temple was empty, except for His followers and a few unhappy religious leaders. Slowly, blind and crippled people entered the temple again. They wanted Jesus to heal them and so again and again He reached out His hand and made sick people better. The children who saw these things danced around Jesus. They held hands while their voices rang against the temple walls. “Hosanna to the Son of David!”

Instead of a robbers’ den, the temple had become a place of joy. The only people who were not happy about the changes in the temple were the Pharisees.

“Listen to those silly children.” they sneered and pointed.

Jesus replied. “Haven’t you read the part of Scripture which says little children and babies will bring praise to God?”

Everyone who heard Him teach in the temple that day was astonished at His wisdom. Jesus went over to the part of the temple called the treasury. There, people came and put money in a special box; it was their way of giving back to God what He had given to them. At least that was the way it was supposed to be but the religious leaders had turned thetreasury into a place where the poor became poorer. There the rich looked very holy because they gave so much money but it was money they could easily do without.

Jesus and two of His disciples sat down and watched. They saw a poor woman, a widow who had hardly anything. She did not put in great amounts of money like the rich had; instead, she dropped two very small copper coins into the box which were hardly worth a penny.

“Did you see that?” Jesus asked His disciples. “The truth is poor widow put in more than all the other people added together. They gave just a little from what they had left over. They gave what they could easily afford but she gave all that she had left. When she gave those two coins, she gave all that she owned.”

The poor woman had given out of love because she trusted God would honor her gift. She knew He would help her continue on even after she had nothing left. She believed in God and loved Him enough to give back her last coin. Such trust is worth more than all the money in the world.

So.....are you and your Tbags actually Christians....Explain how!!! And, please cite your Biblical sources.... Thank you in advance....DEMON
