Obama agenda: The Pittsburgh blitz

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Obama’s visit there yesterday: “President Barack Obama blitzed the city to stump for his jobs plan on Tuesday, delivering a short speech to an invitation-only crowd at a South Side union hall and then racing back to Air Force One for a fundraising trip in Florida… Little in the president's address on his $447 billion jobs plan was new: He touted its calls for tax cuts and construction spending and tried to increase the pressure on Republicans for not supporting it.”

Meanwhile, newspapers in Maine are trumpeting the $3 million a Blackstone Foundation is donating to our state saying, by funding entrepreneurs, it will add 10,000 jobs in Maine and help grow our economy, bringing in $664 million in new revenue.

My question is, if such a comparatively small donation, from a Wall Street charitable foundation, can have that big of an impact on our state, how much more could the President's job bill have on the whole country?

This country needs new leadership now not 13 months of a lame duck dishing out nothing but class warfare.

OBAMA like all the other liberals despise "rich" people and corporations. Are the "rich" hated for being successful and creating jobs? Liberals also think that our govt. should just print more and more money out of thin air or keep borrowing it from China so eventually China can own us. If the Chinese were able to control everything here, guess what, Liberals? You'd all be working for a communist government. Does anyone know what that looks like? Ask the people who live it everyday. Maybe you libs haven't noticed? They risk their lives to "sneak" into the U.S.

The "mean", "horrible" corporate entities, owned by "rich" people are the EMPLOYERS WHO HAVE MADE AMERICA GREAT. I have a suggestion. Why don't you liberals move to places like Cuba,China, and So.Korea now? OH WAIT............ there are "boat people" coming here in the opposite direction.

You think President Obama is a liberal? Leona, you either don't know the definition of a liberal or you've been asleep for the last 2.5 years! I happen to be flaming - and none of things you state are true of my beliefs. I believe in helping those who have less than I. I work hard every day to try and walk that talk....and vote for those I perceive want the same.

And, you are misinformed about our debt. China holds about 0.9% of it, whereas, Japan holds more than 6%. Of our total debt, less than half is held by foreign entities.

Further, the corporations "who have made America great" all see China and many other foreign markets as THE place to make money. They are, BY FAR, the largest group of consumers and globalization has presented them on a silver platter to American producers.

Foreigners have, and always will, want to come to our great country. Who can blame them? But our population has DOUBLE since 1950. What worked for us then does not necessarily work for us now.

Leona--your comments sound like a time warp. 80's, 90's. John Birch Society. Are you really so ill-informed that you think progressives are the enemy? What have Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Boehner, McConnell done for the middle class in the last 10 plus years? Debt and more Debt and sinking wages so we can give tax breaks to the job creators, who so far have fallen down on THAT job. You need alternate sources of information.

The President's so called "jobs bill" was nothing but a political ploy. He knew before hand that the democratic controlled Senate was not going to pass the bill, even if they won the cloture vote. Reid had a chance for a up or down vote and he punted, he knew he never had the votes. Obama will try and use this for political campaigning only. Maybe he should stay in Washington and quit running around the country on the taxpayers dime pushing a bill he knows can't pass the congress.
