Seegrid's robotic forklifts get consumer goods, industrial parts and other products in and out of warehouses more quickly, boosting the productivity of companies that use them. Company spokesman David A. Noble said that while the automated forklifts allow some customers to reduce warehouse jobs, they also allow many of them to free up workers for more productive tasks. ‘This is actually making us more competitive in the United States, which keeps jobs here in the United States,’ Mr. Noble said.”

How patriotic of you dsdsherm, hoping a company fails and lays off workers just so you can have something against the president. Just like a tea people GOP republican, hoping the country fails for political gain.
Didnt say I hoped for it. Just said it was likely given the fact the President want to use it as a talking point. History can be a bear you know... I find it odd his new found poster child is an overall job killing product. This company makes products to eliminate people in the workforce. How ironic as he sort of demonized this in a recent speach he made. But we dont have any more "green power" companies to waste moeny on and use for a photo op, so probably the best he could do. And I am sure there are a lot of companies who dont want him anywhere near their business. Again, history can be a bear.
The Tea Party does not hope for failure for political gain. We just know it will fail given the policies of this administration. Again, history is a bear. None of the policies he has are new. They have all been tried before... and failed.
I dont have something against the President. I dislike his policies and what they have done to our once great country, but have nothing against him personally.
Reality was it was meant in jest to refer to his photo-op at Solyndra. You need to lighten up. And dont use the line the Tea Party hopes the contry fails. We NEVER wanted the contry to fail. We wanted the President to fail, as we knew if he succeeded, the results would be Socialism. While he is a failure, he succeeded way more than we would have liked him to. The country was going to suffer regardless if he succeeded or failed. If he succeeded, we were Socialists, and by default set to fail. If he failed we were still free, but broke in the process. We could do nothing to help the country. We tried. We voted against BHO. Can you say the same?

Everybody wins with this administrations agenda failing. Its not a personal attack, its his agenda. Why can't you get that. Agree or not.

You put the country with the success of this president. This country is more that just one man. So his agenda failing does not mean failure of this country, just your messiah. Pull your head out of the progressive butt and see he is failing, time and time again.

Did you read the article? It's about automation making US companies more competitive. There is mention how automation causes lay-offs, but just one sentence. The important thing is it keeps the company here, along with the jobs it still provides. These points are interesting to debate instead of just bashing the president, and right-wingers can't even say who they want to win in 2012, just who they are against.
Didnt Obama the Luddite recently say US jobs have been lost , not because of his failed policies, but because of the use of ATM machines and other technological advances?
Shouldnt Obama be against robotic forklifts because they take away forklift operators' jobs?
Did the president of the company really lure the President to Pittsburgh to see a labor REDUCTION device to help him sell a JOBS bill? Whoever is scheduling the President's time should be fired.
The robots aren't costing near as many jobs as the tea people GOP republicans are.
Automation has been causing a loss in jobs for a long time; most recently the Internet has affected many brick and mortar businesses from book stores to the US Postal Service. What we've seen as well, unfortunately, is a loss in good customer service. The automated phone menus need to go. Please hire real people to answer the phone, and please have them speak English!
What we really need is a level playing field, so it’s good to see legislation regarding China’s devalued currency. But they need to pass something across the board so this doesn’t just shift the problem to other countries. A tariff should also be applied to ALL goods manufactured overseas including US companies.In the meantime, boycott Wal-Mart and try to buy American. We need manufacturing jobs restored.
Next focus should be on loss of information technology jobs and other high-paying jobs. It's not just telemarketing that's gone away.
