NBC's Domenico Montanaro reports on a past debate, in one of his toughest contests, when he had a strong debate that was seen as a turning point in the race.
The wheels are starting to wobble on the Rick Scary Band Wagon. This guy is nowhere near the mainstream. With all of his miscues that are being brought to light this guy has no chance in the General Election.
backhouse, you and many of your fellow libs can't wait to go back to the past and live. If you didn't you would be paying more attention to getting America moving forward again.
Cheney said it best, "dificits don't matter". Sorry chum that is old school thinking embraced by both political parties prior to 2009 and by obama and company prior to 10/10/2011.
You may not like it, but deficits do matter and our ever growing debt even more so. Change is inevitable.
Why is there no "normal" First Read this morning where you summarize what happened over the weekend? Could it be because Rick Perry did so poorly in the Values straw poll? And his pastor who introduced him at the summit proved to be such an embarrassment?
Just saw Chuck Todd's MSNBC show "The Daily Rundown." I think the show should have a new name - "The Daily Rundown on Rick Perry."
I am a President Obama supporter but am also an avid political junkie who likes everything and every show about this GOP campaign. This morning there were numerous flattering stories on Rick Perry - like the one here resurrecting Perry's "good" debate footage from 20 years ago!!
But I didn't hear anything about Perry getting only 8% of the Values vote over the weekend. Or that Herman Cain got three times that much with 23%. Or that Cain won another straw poll over the weekend.
The only real talk about Cain was during the panel segment where Cain's viability as a real candidate was debated. How elitist can these reporters be? THEY will determine if a candidate is viable?? Look, I imagine no one is more surprised about his rise in the polls and his winning multiple straw polls than is Herman Cain! If he isn't as organized as a Romney or Perry isn't that understandable? But is that a reason to call him a "gadfly?"
Again, I support President Obama. But I like to see basic fairness in coverage. Perry has lost 50% of his support in the polls since his September 22 Fox debate and his "rock" incident. He has won no straw polls. Cain, on the other hand, has jumped into a tie with Romney in some polls and has won the Florida straw poll as well as several others, and come in second in the Values one this past Saturday.
Well it will be interesting to see if tomorrow's First Read summarizes the straw polls over the weekend - including Scary Perry's dismal 8% showing in the Values' vote - something Chuck conveniently omitted on his live show this morning!
They had a feature on the Today Show this morning about a taxicab in DC that has karaoke for the passengers---they have fun and the trip goes faster! Savannah Guthrie did the segment and it ended with Chuck Todd as a passenger doing karaoke with Savannah. All I could say to either one of them is---don't give up your day job. It is probably posted on the Today Show website.
Hey Chuck Todd, since you are now advertising yourself as having "unique access" to the White House (LOL), tell them that the unemployment rate went UP in the last 3 years. I don't think they know that the $780 billion "stimulus" FAILED because Obama is out there screaming "PASS THIS BILL". I want you, Chuck, to ask Obama how this "stimulus 2 " is going to work when it is half the size of the first one that failed.
Let's see............$780 billion stimulus=no new jobs...........so, $450 billion= Success? NOT
Chuck Todd has always seemed to support the Republicans. I liked him better in 2008 when he did the analysis. And what is up with the ad on TV with him talking and casually puts a hand over the steering wheel - not on the steering wheel. Don't want to drive near him!!!!!!!!!
The liberal media is obsessed with tearing down any possible Repub nominee. They're looking for ways to destroy Cain as we speak. Meanwhile, hundreds of filthy, stinky leftists are clogging the park in NYC, stinking it up and pooping on police cars and anywhere else they can. Time to bring in the firehoses.
I'm not filthy, stinky, or a leftist. Why don't these chumps just grow a pair and start screaming what they really want: a communist revolution in America. Nevermind that it has been proven not to work, especially in a country like ours where "poor" means only having ONE car and a Play Staion 2 instead of Play Station 3.
Was glad to see last week that more than one of you actually called for "redistribution of wealth." I think one was that communist, Skippy from OK, who has also called for the jailing of anyone who criticizes Obama.
Herman Cain is you people's worst nightmare; a self-made, wealthy black man. It must drive yall crazy that someone from one of your victim/grievance groups has turned on you like a rabid dog. Go ahead, call him some more politically correct slurs, you simpletons.
"Few would deny any longer that communism--Marxism-Leninism and its variants--meant in practice bloody terrorism, deadly purges, lethal gulags and forced labor, fatal deportations, man-made famines, extrajudicial executions and show trials, and genocide. It is also widely known that as a result, millions of innocent people have been murdered in cold blood."
"With this understood, the Soviet Union appears the greatest megamurderer of all, apparently killing near 61,000,000 people. Stalin himself is responsible for almost 43,000,000 of these. Most of the deaths, perhaps around 39,000,000 are due to lethal forced labor in gulag and transit thereto. Communist China up to 1987, but mainly from 1949 through the cultural revolution, which alone may have seen over 1,000,000 murdered, is the second worst megamurderer. Then there are the lesser megamurderers, such as North Korea and Tito's Yugoslavia."

You can stop with the scare tactics already. We're not.
"....more than one of you actually called for "redistribution of wealth..."
B of A just raised debit card fees on their loayl customers by $5 (a month?). Then, they had two people leave the company, and gave them $4 million and $5 million, respectively.
Re distribution.
Yes, I see. Now, do YOU see why people are getting fed up?
Damage123: " The liberal media is obsessed with tearing down any possible Repub nominee. They're looking for ways to destroy Cain as we speak. Meanwhile, hundreds of filthy, stinky leftists are clogging the park in NYC....."
The lefties must be frantic behind the scenes. lol They're saying "OMG, a black man (Cain) who's ultra successful and makes the most common sense of all the politicians !! Maybe our constituents (liberal lemming Democrat voters ) will understand the truth he speaks of ! Wow, we're screwed. " (LOL)
Thousands of Americans exercising their civil rights are filthy, leftists. What an open minded, inclusive view. I guess you prefer your crowd to be the Tea party folks, who were armed and threatening violence in 2009. BTW, we get it, the "LOL's" are superfluous. You mean: clap here!
Slick Rick has no debate form, other than 'swagger'. Swagger does not play well to folk with connected brain cells. Slick Rick know that by now.
He kinda reminds me of Silly Sarah trying to 'cram' for a debate....Perry refused to debate Bill White (D) for the governorship based on some trumped up reason ---White needed to produce is tax forms which he did Perry kept dodging the debate (fear) with more reasons.
Once the spotlight turns on Herman Cain, he will be "toast" as well. Why?
1)At least 40% of my GOP acquaintences have said they would stay home and boycott a Presidential race featuring two black men. Ain't gonna happen....
2)Herman Cain's 9/9/9 plan won't work. Who wants to wake up with Herman Cain in the White House and find prices on everything you purchase day to day just went up 9%, with Herman's 9% federal sales tax??? Paying 9% federal income tax is not a huge advantage to me, if I have to pay an additional 9% in federal sales tax on everything that I buy. Businesses will not benefit. Already low consumer demand isn't going to be revved up by increasing the prices on everything we buy by 9%.
Mr. Cain is using his Presidential bid to juice up his book tour and to provide window dressing that somehow the Republican Party has shed decades of racism and now embraces black people equally. His candidacy would not survive the scrutiny the others have faced, but nobody wants to pull the plug on his pizza oven.
Oh I don't know, If Herman Cain can help decide what kind of pizza sauce or Pizza Dough Godfathers used, certainly he is qualified to help with foreign relations, deal with wars and a $14 Trillion dollar debt and how to do away with Social Security and Medicare without reimbursing us for what we have paid into it. LMAO....
shameless plug... tommorow night bloombergTV and the washington post are hosting a debate for the republican hopefulls. The host will be charlie rose and the debate will be solely on the economy. that should give everyone something to say on wednesday.
I think many pundits and others are so desperate for Scary Perry to be a credible candidate that the bar for his Tuesday debate performance will be set so low it will be resting on the floor. But wait - he might even trip over that - so they better remove the bar completely.
If Scary Perry simply shows up they will pronounce him the winner. But in reality he is Texas Toast.
Monetfan, instead of bashing Perry and the other GOP candidates, you should worry about what Obama can possibly say in a match up, as soon as someone brings up his abysmal record. Let's see......
"Mr.Obama, how do you defend 9.1% unemployment when it was just over 7% when you were elected?" or
"Mr.Obama, why did you refuse to help Arizona protect their border when the Govenor asked? Instead, you took Az. to court !" or
"Mr.Obama, why is your 'jobs czar'/GE paying NO taxes and sending jobs to China?" or
"Mr.Obama, Now that you got rid of Kadaffi (sort of) , what happens when the terrorists take over?" or
"Mr.Obama , how do you defend losing $500 billion of tax payer dollars in just ONE "green" company after being told it was a risk?" or
"Mr. Obama, why did you instruct your DOJ to go after Boeing for trying to create 1000 new NON UNION jobs in So.Carolina ( especially since the American people are so desperate for jobs)?"
The question is moot. It presumes Governor Perry had an old debate form which if one inverstigates they will find he never really had. He is ok talking one on one at the OK corral and at his Hunting Lodge but never was a strong debator to begin with.

It's not like Slick Rick was ever in 'good' form...
Might be a good idea for him to take a nap prior to the next one, so he doesn't run out of gas again! lol
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Folks, PLEASE, WE DON'T WANT TO GO BACK!
Let's go forward and not repeat the same GOP deregulation and tax breaks for the rich.
We don't want to go back to the same old Bush trickle-down mess that was left to President Obama to clean up in 2009.
Let's go forward!

That's a funny looking dog. If I had a dog, I'd feed him IAMS.
Ha ha, the headline says "Perry once considered a good debater." ouch! That's gotta hurt!
Awwwww. There's Domenico. He's so cute.
Perry looks like a governor from central casting. He's not bad looking, but I don't trust him. Typical pol.
Ugh! George W. Bush in the background! Yuck! He's clapping for Perry. Now I hate Perry.
What's for lunch?
The wheels are starting to wobble on the Rick Scary Band Wagon. This guy is nowhere near the mainstream. With all of his miscues that are being brought to light this guy has no chance in the General Election.
What a bum!

I laughed so hard during the Values Voter Summit Perry is another shrub he called Israel "Isrun"!!!
Just what we need another inarticulate President.
In those old videos, did anyone check him from the back for a wire?
Like George W. Bush, remember?

So why the obsessive coverage of Perry??
“Why is there no "normal" First Read this morning”
Perhaps because today is a holiday.
Happy Columbus Day = eat Italian food!
But Chuck Todd is working today - he was on his MSNBC show this morning. He usually writes the "normal" First Read.
Actually not - First Thoughts is a compilation of Chuck - Mark & Domenico.
Traditionally there is no First Thoughts on holidays.
First Read will resume it's regularly scheduled programming tomorrow. ;o)
I don't need a holiday to indulge on Italian food chilled. If that was the case then everyday would be Columbus Day around my house! lol
Well it will be interesting to see if tomorrow's First Read summarizes the straw polls over the weekend - including Scary Perry's dismal 8% showing in the Values' vote - something Chuck conveniently omitted on his live show this morning!
I feel ya' Feisty!...but....Deep in the Heart of Texas....Mexican food tops the list, yummy!
I preferred Chuck when he was the numbers guy in 2008 - these days he comes across as another spin-ball wizard...
That 'pool' is presently overflowing...
Second favorite - hot & spicy!
Rounding out the top 3 is Chinese...
They had a feature on the Today Show this morning about a taxicab in DC that has karaoke for the passengers---they have fun and the trip goes faster! Feisty, I agree 100% with your assessment of Chuck. I preferred him back in 2008, as well.
His pro-Perry bias is shamefully palpable, almost to the point of becoming ridiculous.

It's very simple-
Either Perry accepts that his debate prep was totally lacking, makes changes, and comes prepared-
Or he doesn't.
If he does the former, he'll regain lost ground.
If he does the latter, he'll continue to slide until he drops out.
We do not need another person in office who cannot ever admit when he is wrong.
The question is moot. It presumes Governor Perry had an old debate form which if one inverstigates they will find he never really had. He is ok talking one on one at the OK corral and at his Hunting Lodge but never was a strong debator to begin with.
What "old debate" form? In Texas he never debated-and when he did he was lousy.
MSNBC and Chuck Todd must be alseep at the switch
That clip was an example of Gov. Perry doing WELL??? Uhm, no that was Perry debating Eeyore. Love you Domenico, but this one is a stretch at best!
