What you scared of Mr. Cantor? Hell it’s just a smelly old “mob” of leftover hippies and general malcontents left over from the sixties don’t cha know. Hell they even left the firearms and assorted other implements of destruction at home. I don’t see nary a pitchfork or stave or anything like that. Oh it’s the dissent thing you say?

Well seems like to me that if you had of spent that five week vacation that We gave you back in August on what it was given to you for then you could of saved Us and yourself a lot of trouble. You see you could of listened back then instead of avoiding Us and charging for the privilege and interrupting your golf game and such like. Well you were trying to tell me something I didn’t want to hear you say? Well if the Mountain won’t come to Mohamed then I reckon we’re going to have to take Mohamed to the Mountain.

Now down at the Dew Drop Inn we welcome all forms of dissent ‘cept one. If your packing you ain’t getting in. It’s more of a self preservation thing than anything else. As loose as you’ll are around firearms we’re afraid that somebody’s going to step on some Bubble Wrap and the Proprietor and General Handyman is going to be sent to his meeting with old St. Peter prematurely. We have found that with that one exception for safeties sake the quality of the conversation goes up as the dissent level goes up.

So bring your Occupy Wall Street right on down to the Dew Drop inn. You’ll fit right in. We’ve got Hard Hats and Hippies from the Sixties. Got a few Warmongers around somewhere giving a few Peaceniks a fit. Black Panthers ought to be in later to keep the White Segregationist s straight. But you know something at the end of the night around closing time most of the time they’ve all worked things out. ‘Cause they’re Americans. It’s what we are and what we do.

Heck we’ll even set up a jar by the door for donations and give you’ll free food and such like. Going to have to check ID’s ‘cause some of you look mighty young but then again some of us were pretty young when we first decide to dissent. Let us set you up with showers over at the Comeback Inn and we’ll even give you a place to stay over there while you’re waiting on your latest parade permit and such like.

On another note I’ve been instructed to invite Mr. Murray over to interview a few of our Dissenters and share a drink and the Big Screen for the latest edition of Border Wars. Texas/OU this weekend and I ain’t taking sides.

As always my thanks and appreciation to our hosts for their time, giving me a little place to stand, a subject to comment on, a forum to put it in, and their indulgence when I don’t quite get it right or get a little off subject. I purely do appreciate it. Hope you’ll have a fine weekend and good fun among folks that you know and love. To my fellow participants keep well, keep safe, and keep the faith. We’ll make it. See you’ll next week

Now Buzzy let’s fire the old Juke box off with some of those good old sixties and early seventies protest tunes until these kids come up with some of their own. Welcome to the Revolution. Let’s see where it takes us.

Just.a hunch, but he might be disturbed by the level of anti Semitism on display by this group of fruits and nuts, who seem to have no coherent message OTHER than that.

I know I'm disturbed by it- would be far more disturbed if there were more than 500 of them on a given day- excepting, of course, the day the unions bussed in reinforcements.

Say! Maybe do a little journalism, and report on that!

Great way to end the week, IR. Time to head on over to the Dew Drop Inn; I've got my protest sign ready; haven't been protesting since Vietnam so I might be a bit rusty.

Mr. Cantor is likely afraid that "mob" is coming for him; hear there's an Occupy Eric's Office protest lined up. McConnell, Boehner, DeMint, all of the GOPers who obstruct, delay and deny are on the list.

Another fine week of FR provided by our hosts, thanks to all of them.

Have a great weekend, everyone. Go Hawkeyes!

Isn't it too bad the Kantor finds it hard to believe his weasel eyes could even posture himself to lie to the people with that perpetual smirk on his face.

The Kantor had no problem with the marchers of his Tea Party carrying guns, kicking disabled people, and threatening signs saying what their browning guns would do and that they came unarmed this time.

Furthermore, Cantor is lying he promised Oil Speculators that the GOP will block Financial Regulations. He is not promising the American people anything to eradicate high oil prices.

Philadelphia Phillies?

I would just like to extend my warmest wishes to the Detroit Tigers and Milwaukee Brewers. Here's hoping these two teams make it to the BIG SHOW. It would be terrific for their cities/fans.

I think when the NYY fans have had a few days to get over their disappointment, you may find that they would be happy to see these two cities in the WS.

Keith O. mentioned today that even though he was a New Yorker, he was a little tired of the "entitlement" some in New York felt about their Yankees team.

I know for me, my interest in baseball has taken a serious backseat in my life. Not because the Sox didn't make the playoffs, but because I don't see why I should care when my own team doesn't care. That's what my team did to me, a faithful follower of the game since I was a kid.

Plus the Red Sox/NYY rivalry? Enough. Enough.

Perhaps we're seeing a new era in baseball for cities all across the country. It would be wonderful for the fans.

They're entitled.

Again, best of luck to Detroit & Milwaukee.

And whoever is fortunate enough to nab Francona as their manager will not regret it.

nojoe-

Being kind of , you know, a JEW and having been down at the park personally, you are being as biased as those on the left who used a small number of RACIST signs at TP rallies to "seriously question" their so-called RACISM.

Look, each side uses the same demonization and vilification tactics to cast aspersions on and deflect from the group's actual tenor and intent. The left was and is wrong about the TP and those on the right attempting to use this tactic now are just as wrong. So if you have a problem with the people, who include a TP contingent by the way, in Z-park, find something else to seriously question. Not to mention that they'll all be gone when it rains for a couple days in a row or starts to get cold...

Indy, when I was talking to one of the occupiers (not sure if he was a Paul supporter or not), he told me that he hoped these would be places where people from all over could just come together and talk to each other. To inspire each other. I really liked that. He was a young guy in his 20's and it was evident that he was very devoted to what he was doing. Tea Partiers they were not.

They had all kinds of pastries and fruit and beverages (water & juice). Lots and lots of tents. Lots of fruit, which I don't know if it was donated to them or they just bought it themselves.

Not thinking ahead, I went to work with a total of $10 in my pocket today (and NO ATM card handy) and really wanted to bring something for them - the only thing I could afford were the Dunkin Donut Muchkins. Something I would never eat. But it's all I could think of.

And sure enough, when I got there - they already had about 3 or 4 boxes. LoL.

Maybe next week I'll bring them a few bottles of wine. Hey, why not?

They were an impressive group of young people. Off to the side were the baby boomers with their guitar singing - yup - Eve of Destruction.

Well, dangerfield. The local ANC news had to break off an interview with a person who purported to be one of the organizers. Even after breaking off, he continued to scream about "the Jews".

I won't repeat what he said, other than that.

I was down there the other day. Never in my life did I ever expect to see, in New York City, people with swastikas tattooed on their heads.

On their HEADS.

Took me aback, to put it mildly. Particularly in this economy. Particularly with what they were asserting and demanding.

The green haired guy looking for a job as a printer repairman does not disturb me.

The people against vaccines kind of bother me- but they are juxtaposed with those who demand global vaccinations, so I guess they cancel each other out.

The people pro and con nuclear energy- same deal.

The ones against genetically modified food are simply ignorant.

Ditto the anti capitalists,- with iPods, iPads, laptop computers, and cellphones.

But the anti-Semites scare me.

members working together

Kansas, Politics

The Occupy Wall Street movement is sweeping the nation, bringing progressives, democrats, republicans, libertarians and former Tea Party members together, despite their differences. Traditionally, the right has blamed the government for the economic crisis while the left has blamed the corporations.

For the first time in recent history, both groups are now coming together, sharing ideas and embracing the reality that the government and the corporations are both complicit in this charade of governance. People on both sides are beginning to realize that both democrats and republicans in Washington have used wedge issues to divide the 99% against our own self-interests.

GOP, yes - Detroit is the talk of the town these days. And I love it.

Cleveland is another city I would like to see win a few championships. They have been waiting a long time. Too long. In the meantime, more great news - Milwaukee won their game a few minutes ago. I'm jumping for joy for them as well.

Again, best of luck. Be careful what you wish for though. As Ron and I can attest, going for an undefeated season is unlike anything you will ever experience.

You'll lose some of your hair along with way. Trust me. LoL.

To an extent Indy, to an extent. Whenever I pin a republican down and prove that their ideology is faulty I invariably get the same thing. Instead of admitting that republikans suck I get, "Well,....both parties are the same!"

But if they really felt that both parties are the same wouldn't they vote Democratic,....at least 50% of the time? But they never do. One-hundred percent repub,....100% of the time.

Translated from the original republikan "Both parties are the same" means: "You're right, my being a republikan makes no sense"

Oh- and proof that this was pushed by Obama and Biden.

I guess that vote CBS, which is going after Fast and Furious, and ABC, which broke the Solyndra story, have figured out that Obama is not king, will not be reelected-

However, the Yankee fans hate the Red Sox.

And the rest of the fans around the country hate the Red Sox AND the Yankees. haha.

I was just glad our team was able to beat them and get 2 WS in the deal. The Yankees had been killing us for years. But that's all in the past.

I shed my last baseball tear when Francona left. No more crying in baseball for me. That was such a sad day for me. Just like when Pedro left.

Dangerfield -- Here's how Occupy Together works. It spreads, nationwide, even international. When it's cold in the northeast it's just getting nice in the southwest, SoCal, Florida. The events are being scheduled everywhere so the movement will continue in this way.

Of course Cantor's torch and pitchfork "mob" description of the Occupy Wall Street movment is complete hyperbole, but Herman Cain's new conspiracy theory that it's been orchestrated by Democrats is really out there. They are terrified though, aren't they?

In the meantime, this deserves re-posting -- Excerpts from Why The Rich Are Getting Richer:

…This is what the political scientists Jacob Hacker and Paul Pierson call the "winner-take-all economy." It is not a picture of a healthy society. Such a level of economic inequality, not seen in the United States since the eve of the Great Depression, bespeaks a political economy in which the financial rewards are increasingly concentrated among a tiny elite and whose risks are borne by an increasingly exposed and unprotected middle class. Income inequality in the United States is higher than in any other advanced industrial democracy and by conventional measures comparable to that in countries such as Ghana, Nicaragua, and Turkmenistan. It breeds political polarization, mistrust, and resentment between the haves and the have-nots and tends to distort the workings of a democratic political system in which money increasingly confers political voice and power.

…Increasing inequality in the United States has long been attributed to unstoppable market forces. In fact, as Jacob Hacker and Paul Pierson show, it is the direct result of congressional policies that have consciously -- and sometimes inadvertently -- skewed the playing field toward the rich.

Harvey's Wallbangers - Amazon

In 1982, the Milwaukee Brewers led the league in runs and home runs and earned
the nickname Harvey's Wallbangers (A reference to their manager, Harvey Kuenn).
They beat the California Angels in the American League Championship and went on
to play the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series. Relive this magical year
through the eyes of those that were there including Paul Molitor, Robin Yount,

RE: TruePatriot (comment #1.32)

Your excerpts from the book 'Why The Rich Are Getting Richer' are very true.

The nation has been slowly moving toward a banana republic since the 1980's. The concentration of wealth among the top 1% has been a planned movement that started with huge tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans and continual wage and benefits concessions for the middle class.

The system is being held together by the 'divide and rule' which has roots going back to ancient times. As long as you can divide the mass of the people into smaller groups and have them fight against one another you can maintain the rule of wealth.

This is also why you see the reporting on the 99%'ers from the Occupy Wall Street movement as being portrayed as being privileged very young College students with no agenda. Anything that can be done to stop it by misrepresenting them and their cause before it becomes contagious to mainstream Americans, that is the goal of the status quo.

The wealthiest few have built vast fortunes in the decades since the 80's, now they want absolute control over our political system to repeal all the gains made by the middle class since the 1900's. Anyone who supports their cause is either a fool or a traitor to the ideals of what this country was founded upon.

IR: that post was as fine a one as I have seen. Count me in.

What oh what have we learned this week? Thanks to Lawrence O' Donnell we find out that Herman Cain was otherwise occupied during the fight for civil rights.

We lost a man this week who wasn't otherwise occupied, and who put his life on the line so that all could avail themselves of the promise of this country. I always think of a hero as someone who sees a wrong, sees the dangers involved in doing the right thing, realizes that his own personal comfort is less important than the ultimate prize and even though fearful...acts. That was Reverend Shuttlesworth. Much has been written about him, and one of the articles I read was from the New York Times (Jon Norheiner Oct 5,2011). I don't know how many of you remember a man by the name of "Bull" Connor, but he was pretty vicious where the rights of blacks were concerned. Reverend Shuttlesworth went nose to nose with him, and since Bull was the Public Safety Commissioner, he had the portfolios of the police and fire fighters at his disposal. During those marches of children, and adults, Bull reacted with fire hoses and police dogs, setting them on citizens (including children) and many people were hurt. Reverend Shuttlesworth was received a head injury, and told the Doctor that the "Lord knew I lived in a hard town, and he gave me a hard head." The good Reverend had his house bombed, but he would not give up. And it was those marches, he and Dr. King led that finally turned the conscience of a nation. Reverend Shuttlesworth is a true American hero, and I remember him today.

I was thinking of all this when one of my cherubs called me to let me know that she was at a Occupy Wall Street Solidarity protest. It just made me smile. So, tonight IR, I would like to hear Dylans The Times They are A Changing:

Come mothers and fathers throughout the land

And don't criticize what you can't understand

Your sons and your daughters are beyond your command

Your old world is rapidly aging

Please get out of the way if you can't lend a hand

The times, they are a changing

My thanks to my hosts, wishing you all a good weekend. Feisty, I am feeling spicy today. How about some homemade salsa and Daiquiris?

I am partial to the black & white video for some reason. But I'll be listening to each of them all weekend long. With the volume turned up LOUD.

I remember her song Goldfinger very well. When I was a kid my older brother had to take me to the movies and he took me to see Goldfinger for some reason. Can you believe it?! I swear I was like 7 years old. I remember some naked lady laying on a bed painted gold. LoL.

newdayDAWNING - so much wonderful music tonite.

I too would like to tell you how much I enjoyed your post about Rev. Shuttlesworth. It's unfortunate that our Nation has long forgotten the sacrifices made in the fight for equality. So sad, yet so inspiring. These people who were out in the front of the lines throughout history - they mattered. And still do today.

Over @ The Obama Diary everybody is talking about Rachel and Lawrence's program this evening. I didn't see them but will watch the videos. They are saying Lawrence's discussion was the best tv they had seen in a long time.

This is what the media is supposed to be for. To remind us of how hard it was to get where we are today and how we have to keep speaking up and keep speaking up until we are one Nation with the same goals and aspirations for all. Which is, equality for all.

Again, thank you.

Thank you Pat. I think so highly of what you write that I am indeed honored. I do think that it is hard for people to relate and remember the struggles of the Civil Rights era. Time passes, I guess. I wanted to talk about Bull Connor, because he was SO evil, that to go up against him like the Reverend did...it leaves me breathless thinking about it. I can only think how terrifying it must have been.

But, those were the days that turned the tide for this nation. People watched moms and dads with their children in those marches, being attacked by dogs and sprayed by fire hoses, and slowly and inexorably outrage replaced apathy, and this nation finally said "enough"!

I wonder if the Occupy Wall Street will lead to the same consensus? I hope so. I'm glad my cherub went. I know she will go again.

But it amuses me that I said to her yet again "oh, great! Have a good time, and do try to avoid getting arrested won't you? But, if you do let me know so I can send bail."

I am sorry, I just can not in any way, shape, or form equate this "Occupy" movement to the Civil Rights Movement. Malcontented, largely educated people carrying "Tax the Rich" signs can in no way compare with people who feared for their lives just because of the color of their skin.

By nature I am not a protester. I would rather expend energy finding solutions within the context of existing conditions rather than just making noise about things I don't like. And everyone I know is quietly burning a lot of midnight oil figuring out how to adapt to difficult conditions. People's livelihoods depend on it. As fascinating as politics are I still believe it is the efforts of We, the People that are going to bring us around (a very nebulous, vague statement, I grant you. I actually do have specifics to support my theory.)

"Occupy" implies unwelcome presence. This, I am sure is heroic and romantic to those so inclined. Regardless of intent and justification occupations rarely succeed unless the occupier wins over the occupied's hearts and minds. Carrying the "evil rich" theme just isn't going to do it. The truth is, the rich just are not that evil. Just rich.

Steeler Fan, I also find the lack of a large, visible anti-Iraq war movement somewhat puzzling. Maybe we are still carrying some collective guilt for the overall treatment of Vietnam vets and very few people want to be labeled anti-soldier. The Iraq war is something that came close to bringing out any protester that might exist in me.............

It is about time someone is out in the streets. First the republican filibuster anything in the Senate that could create jobs and then get the house in mid-term on the Democrats didn't create enough jobs. Not only has the republican house created no jobs, Cantor declares the AJA as dead and never to be voted on. Why? Because we can't ask the rich to sacrifice one thin dime.

Back to same old, same old. Cut taxes and kill all regulations is the republicans brilliant jobs plan. Benefits the Koch Brothers but the other 99% of us not so much.

It makes me angry that we can't have a jobs bill and 14 million can't have unemployment, we can't have enough teachers or firefighters, we can't repair bridges, roads and schools. None of this can happen because we are not allowed to ask the rich to sacrifice one thin dime.

What you are witnessing is a transformational movement in this country.

The “Occupy” movement is a Progressive Tea Party!! Long overdue.

What do you think the right wing fears of this disjointed, ad hoc collection of right wing waste matter?

That’s right, I wrote it, but don’t misunderstand me. Not to be crass, but these people are not Republicans. THEY ARE WHAT REPUBLICANS CRAP OUT!! These people are Republican droppings. They are the waste product that results when Republicanism has stripped humans of whatever money, jobs, promise, retirement, health care, or voting voice they once had. These jobless, hopeless people are what are left after 30 years of “trickle on” economics embraced by the party of the wealthy. They are the by-product of this nation’s orgiastic intercourse with laissez-faire economics. They’re there because they have nothing to lose. They are a Progressive kamikaze run.

These disaffected people are the by-product of outsourcing, offshoring, cut Pell grants, exhausted unemployment and a changing economy that does not include them.

They may not be purely aligned with the Democratic Party, but the reflexive reaction of the GOP to these rag tag rebels is telling. The speed with which the right wing propaganda networks worked to neutralize them was impressive. First they ignored them. Then when ignoring them did not work, the denial of coverage turned to showcase the less-than-articulate among them. When this failed, they turned to show their hygiene and bodily functions. Pulitzer material that. Now they are busily showcasing the one anti-Semite among millions of rational occupiers.

Will this movement translate to the voting booth? These 21st-Century Hoovervilles lay bare the inequities in this country in an uncomfortable manner. So did Wisconsin.

Now that the Republican handiwork is exhibited on the radar; the Republicans have every right to fear what they have wrought, and their “collateral damage”, like a stenching corpse, will not allow them, or next year’s voters, to forget it.

"Occupy Wall Street" marchers are getting to the point where certain barricades are being overrun and they are interfering with traffic . They should buy themselves face masks because as soon as it gets more "violent" , the police will come in and do what's necessary. Unlike with the Tea Party protests, there's going to be big problems with this movement. The Unions are typically somewhat violent.

Leona demonstrates her ignorance of this country and the history of the world governments by her post at 12.3. In fact history is replete with examples of leadership fleeing tyranny to save democracies. Remember Jefferson as Governor of Virginia? He fled ahead of Cornwallis' invasion and capture of Monticello. How about the shadow government set up by De Gualle in Britain during WW 2? He rejected the truce with the Nazis and became an important resource for the Allies? The various Monarchs during WW 2 did the same and became rallying points for their peoples.

Yep, Leona, ignorance is bliss, and you must be one of the happiest people on earth.

Leona;

I must have missed the signs indicting Obama, and his face painted as the Joker at these rallys. Were the occupiers carrying guns? They aren't. Yet.

The 14 patriots voted in the only manner that carried weight, and in the only manner where their will and intent could not be steamrolled. Wisconsinites elected these 14 people for a reason; because, elections have consequences right Leona? Subsequent elections have reduced republicans and increased Democrats in Wisconsin legislatures.

The reason is obvious.

Scott Walker is steeling himself for the blood bath that is near at hand. The Kochs are already searching for a replacement puppet to install. Scott is a "dead-man-Walker-ing."

Which is curious, rickster, since by any measure of his time, Jefferson was a liberal. He took Aristotle's question "Can free man rule free men" seriously and answered that question with the founding of this nation. I don't think your quote supports your conclusion, but let me give you one of my favorite little known quotes from Jefferson:

Experience demands that man is the only animal which devours his own kind, for I can apply no milder term to the general prey of the rich on the poor." (From a letter to Colonel Edward Carrington, Jan 16, 1787.)

When you read that quote, one must assume that Jefferson would be out at the Occupy Wall Street marches with my cherub!

rickster, just did a search of the quote that you used. According to the Monticello site, Jefferson did not say that. Here is a measure I use to verify a quote by a Founder. Look for an original source. Where did it first appear? In the case of the one I used, it is from a verifiable letter. If you can't do that, be suspicious of the quote.

I think the past 24 hour news cycle illustrates what a conumdrum the GOP faces in selecting their presidential nominee. Two of their front runners - Romney and Perry - face huge obstacles.

Up front let me say I support President Obama. I am a middle-aged, white, suburban wife and mother who is a mainstream Methodist.

Romney's obstacle comes from a substantial part of the GOP base - the Evangelical Christians. I think it is utterly deplorable but many of these Evangelicals view Mormonism as some kind of cult, as stated by Perry's pastor. It will be very hard for Romney to do well in the Iowa Caucus and southern primaries in places like South Carolina. If he does manage to get the GOP nomination he will have a tough time in swing states like Virginia and North Carolina that have large Evangelical voting populations. Perry's pastor was on MSNBC with Alex Witt this morning and said that even though he, himself, would vote for Romney if he were the nominee he believed that millions and millions of other Evangelicals would sit on their hands and not vote for Romney in November 2012.

Perry's obstacle is that his religious beliefs seem to strongly influence his own beliefs on issues like global warming, evolution, etc. He is Scary Perry who will frighten away Independents and make Democrats like me work extra hard to be sure he does not win! His pastor is scary! And of course Perry has other obstacles like the "rock" issue, etc.

So who is the answer to this GOP conumdrum of who should be their nominee? Herman Cain! He seems like the only viable option left!

Monetfan, Herman Cain is much MORE than a "viable option" .He speaks from common sense, BUSINESS experience. He tells the TRUTH ( a rare commodity in Washington). He has answers and a plan.

I repeat, Mr.Cain is THE rising star in the GOP among constituents . He tells it like it is and everyone understands what he means ( there's no B.S.) .

MkeMike, Get a reality check. Herman Cain wants everyone to pay 9%. That means, for most of us, we'll be paying LESS in taxes. I guess for YOU, Mike, you'd have to start paying 9% because IT sounds as if you are paying ZERO now. As far as sales tax goes, it is over 8% where I live, so not much change there. As far as businesses go, Mr.Cain would get rid of loopholes and lower the corporate tax rate to 9% so we can compete with foreign countries.

            Leona,

You sound so confused. Let me help you.

Herman Cain wants a 9% FEDERAL sales tax. You currently apparently pay a 9% STATE sales tax, which you would still pay under President Cain. That's 18% sales tax you'd be paying on all purchases.

Fortunately, I live in a state with only a 6% STATE sales tax that doesn't cover groceries. My paying Herman Cain's 9% FEDERAL sales tax, would add to my tax burden, not decrease it. I pay taxes at about a 25% rate, but with legal deductions, I'm able to get that rate reduced to around 11%. The reduction in my income taxes, by going to 9% with no deductions, would not offset the extra 9% I'd have to pay in Herman Cain's FEDERAL sales tax on everything I buy. So, I'd stop spending money, which would hurt the economy even further.

If you still don't get it, have someone else read it to you before you vote for Herman Cain.

Hey MkeMike, No problem here. EVEN IF YOU ARE RIGHT about the added federal sales tax, my income tax will be greatly reduced to only 9%. I don't have many deductions. So, It's still a win for me . The "rich" who are so demonized will pay a lot more in taxes because they will have NO loopholes.

As for you, if Mr.Cain wins, I guess you'll have to stop buying so much stuff!

              Leona,

Sales taxes are the most regressive taxes because they impose the most burden on the lower incomes.

I was right about the federal vs. state sales tax. You didn't know the difference. It's uneducated people like you that put morons like Herman Cain into office, not knowing what they are proposing. I've read many of your posts. You are ignorant of many things, but in the end, your vote counts just as much as mine. So waste it on Herman Cain. Some people are too dumb to know when they are being screwed.

The Occupy movement already includes former veterans. I suspect it will soon include more, as more soldiers are released back into the economy after the next drawdown on troops overseas. Once Pres. Obama's jobs bill (which includes tax incentives to hire veterans) is treated like trash by the House, these veterans will have even more reason to join the Occupy movement--veterans already have "Stand Downs" nationwide. Combining the two movements would not be difficult.

Read _Starship Troopers— by Robert Heinlein--there's a hint or two in it how that society came about, when veterans decided that civilians could no long manage society properly. Granted, I suspect Heinlein based his speculations on the Bonus Army camped outside Washington D.C. during the Depression--but we could see that again. No threats--simply a modest speculation on how this movement could grow.

Has letterman done a top ten list on these occupying fools yet? I know he's a lefty and all but it could easily be the funniest top ten ever done.

How many tea partiers have been arrested over the past couple years?

What's the difference between a bum and an occupier.

A bum lives on the street a panhandles for money.

An occupier lives in the mothers basement and panhandles in the street for money.

Hey at least this movement gave me new found respect for bums. Not so much for the latter.

Memo to Eric Cantor and the Rest of the GOP,

BE CONCERNED, BE MORE THAN CONCERNED....Be afraid.

Where has all the money gone???? Blame Wall Street....

                http://tmotr.wordpress.com/2011/07/04/going-for-broke-will-legislate-for-food/

In the 1950′s the pay separation between the average worker and CEO’s in what we now call the Fortune 500 companies used to be about 20 to 1 (for every dollar a mid level manager made, a CEO made 20 dollars. ) 20 to 1 was here in American and extreme compared to the rest of the world where even now it is more commonly about half of that. During the 1980s the pay gap between CEO’s and

average workers grew from 42:1 to almost 85:1. By 2004 it had jumped to 301 : 1. And now???… well now, right here in the good old US of A, the ratio of CEO pay to average worker pay is running 475 to 1 while in Japan, a very profitable nation with a very good standard of living, the ratio is 11 to 1. The average Japanese CEO would kill himself in shame if his company failed so badly that it needed to be bailed out by the government in order to stop the world economy from crashing. American CEO’s take bonuses of 15 million dollars for doing that.

While average families and average voters struggle, the GOP wants us to believe that the wealthy and corporations are already overtaxed and underpaid. PASS THE OBAMA JOBS BILL! REPEAL THE BUSH TAX CUTS FOR MILLIONAIRES.

MkeMike, Obama's jobs bill is a minor/temporary "fix" to our economy. It is not a long term solution and many Democrats do NOT want to vote for it. So peddle your plea to Senate Leader Harry Reid (D).

and.......Why not tell Obama to get GE to bring back their China overseas division to the U.S. ? After all, Obama is friends with Jeff Immelt (GE) / jobs czar . GE pays NO taxes either. Why blame the GOP for everything? Souldnt the Democrats care about that?

If the Occupy Wall Street needs something to make them cohesive then they need to get the memo from Citi about the Plutocracy they wish to perpetrate on the global economies. It is indeed the playbook of what is going on today. Everyone who is angry about what is happening in our gvt and country needs to read this and then you will see that this has been designed to happen. Read it and then get off your apathetic rumps and stand with others who are saying enough is enough. There is also a solution to this as well. The 99% have the power of the vote and in the end it will either save us or deliver the death knell. We must vote for our own best interests.

Wake up to the truth America.

The WAR is at your front door. It is OWS.

The protesters in OWS are being led down a false hope for change. The same one Obama used to get elected.

OWS started in New York against corporate America to raise civil unrest. The federal government is shutting down the medical marijuana dispensaries in California to raise civil unrest on the west coast.

OWS is a political movement to raise civil unrest in America so the federal government can impose martial law. If martial law is imposed we the people will not be able to vote in 2012.

OWS is protesting our rights to freedom America.

Obama wants to bring America to its knees and he will if you let him.

OWS is Obama's hope for change.

College adults you should be smart enough to figure out what lies beneath OWS.

Veterans, of all the people protesting, you should be there to kick OWS in the ASS not kiss thier ass.

Protesters that smoke marijuana you are protesting against marijuana not for it.

Labor Unions this protest will work against you not for you if it is successfull.

All other people protesting that are being led down a false hope for change think about what you are protesting for.

The only way to stop OWS is for people to know what lies beneath OWS.

Wake up to the truth. Impeach Obama NOW! Before he destroys the rest of America.

                Jenasus

P.S. I bet the money to fund OWS came from Solyndra, the "made to fail" solar company.

If you know someone that is in college talk to them. Tell them the truth about OWS.

If you know someone that is a veteran talk to them. Tell them the truth about OWS.

If you know someone in a Union talk to them . Tell them the truth about OWS.

If you are one of the people being led down a false hope for change think about what you are protestsing for.
