Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor addresses the Value Voters Summit in Washington, DC, Friday. The Value Voters Summit, sponsored by the Family Research Council, is an annual gathering of the religious right; it provides Republican politicians and presidential candidates an opportunity to display their conservative bona fides.
The second-ranking House Republican castigated "Occupy Wall Street" protesters on Friday, just as Democrats begin cozying up to the weeks-old demonstrations.
House GOP Leader Eric Cantor decried the protests that started several weeks ago in New York, and have spread to major cities across the country. Cantor said in a speech at the Values Voters Summit in Washington that he is "increasingly concerned" about the "growing mobs" represented at the protests.
Cantor's remarks, some of the harshest by a Republican toward the "Occupy" demonstrators, comes amidst a growing political divide over the protests. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi backed the demonstrations, saying, "God bless them for their spontaneity." And other Democrats have been even more open in their embrace of the movement, which has also attracted support from organized labor.
Organizers behind the movement, which expresses outrage toward the conduct of corporate America and seeks campaign finance reform, have hoped it develops into an analogue for the Tea Party on the left, which has helped fuel a Republican political resurgence over the past two years.
"Some in Washington have actually condoned the pitting of Americans against Americans," Cantor said of the protests after accusing the Obama administration's policies of being an "assault on many of our nation's bedrock principles."
Other political leaders have been more coy in their approach toward the demonstrations; President Obama nodded toward the protests as a sign of broader frustration over the state of the economy.
As for Republicans, Mitt Romney accused the protesters of engaging in "class warfare," but has otherwise stayed silent about the demonstrations. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich called them the "Obama demonstrations," while Texas Rep. Ron Paul encouraged the protests.
"If they were demonstrating peacefully ... and making a point, and arguing our case, and drawing attention to the Fed–I would say, good!" he told the libertarian magazine Reason.

The occupy wall street domonstration is simply a chance for people to feel like they are doing something about our Country's current problems.

Then why don't they:
1. take a bath
2. put on some deodorant
3. try and find work rather than protest those that do

Sunday, Oct 9, 2011, in first 10 min of show, Coast to Coast AM host, FOX station, told a story about a U.S. military officer who gave thousands of U.S. Top Secret photos and documents to our sworn enemy, Communist China. The officer believed this would induce a plan to get America and Communist China into a armageddon war, which is "necessary" to overthrow America. Coast to Coast AM host then equated this filthy treasonous scum to Occupy Wall Street people. He said "we have to watch them".
Later on in the show he advocated murdering politicians by putting them in bags and drowning them in rivers. His name is John B. Wells.
Unbelievable! These young Americans are the future. You talk about their lack of knowledge regarding certain economic issues however; you fail to mention the lack of knowledge from certain politicians about American history and the constitution. You do remember Sarah Palin from the tea party? Talk about a dumb ass. We all know the real reason she's not running in 2012, read the book just released. Just another hypocrite conservative. Regardless, these students are the 2012 voters that will ultimately have a huge impact on election results. So let the extreme right candidates continue to dismiss them as "mobs". Their loss. Also, for those of you that feel these protesters are all unemployed leaches, that want to just drain social programs, I suggest watching some of the interviews. These "mobs" include veterans, teachers, government workers, nurses...etc. Take a good look at the petitions spreading nationwide in support of these protesters. They represent Americans from all wakes of life. It's really sad that some of you feel that Wall street did nothing wrong and should not be held accountable for breaking the law. Then we have out of touch politicians that continue to support these tax breaks and huge bonuses. They say it creates jobs. Well, where the Hell are the jobs? The tax breaks have been in place since President Bush signed off on it. Also, remember President Bush put an expiration date on this wealthy tax break that the Republicans and Tea Party insist on continuing. Again, the party of "NO" does nothing productive. Just a bunch of mouth runners standing behind the one's that paid for their elections. Don't you wonder why the campaign reform issue is never mentioned by any politician. Hmm. Wonder why.

It's been reported that Rep Cantor is pushing "Tea Time" legislation through Congress. His Bill would make 4:00 PM the official time to stop work and have your tea. This would save the US billions in labor costs by moving to a 7 hour work day. Drinking tea at 4:00 PM would be mandatory for all working America. A special "tea tax" would be imposed to make a contribution to national debt reduction. Those making more than $250K per year would pay a higher "tea tax". like $250 per cup. All tea would contain caffiene so workers would go home all wound up. It's estimated that his proposed Bill would add 2.5 million part-time jobs just for servers to pour tea for the workers. The Tea Party, lead by Rep. Michelle Bachman, is putting its weight behind this Bill. Sen. Reid says the Bill has merits (he owns shares in Lipton) and sees no obstructions to passing in the Senate. Sen. McConnell (he owns shares in Domino Sugar) says this is a sweet deal for Senate Republicans.

As far as teaschers are concerned, yes, help the unions. That money is peanuts compared to what is lost in education without those teachers. They work for little compared to many other jobs and they deserve a decent retirement in lue of larger salaries. Do you propose to offshore teacher positions too? Nobody "bailed out" the teachers' unions. Our PUBLIC SCHOOLS were salvaged from having to further increase student/teacher ratios when many states were laying off teachers on account of the Bush/Cheney economic debacle.
Perhaps you would prefer that students attending public schools simply fall further behind those attending expensive private schools.
Obviously, you could not care less about the middle class teachers and the middle class auto workers. But, the middle class is the backbone of this country and your beloved super-wealthy have not yet been able to completely replace workers with robots. Without doubt, they are working toward that end which will create a modern day class of serfs. That's what you want. Right?
Both of you need to read HR 1586.. Don't forget to take a peek at who received the most "special interest" monies for their votes. Oh and please don't skip over the parts where SNAP (formerly food stamps) was cut and how bonus limitations (particularly AIG) were foiled and who protected those bonuses... The only thing I was wrong about was the dollar amount. That was in Obama's next request for more spending... So while you people are on Wall St protesting (I fully agree on a few things) you probably should get a better understanding of the shenanigans that go on behind closed doors in DC... Quite the eye opener... BTW can either of you tell me where that "education lottery" money is going? Just about every state that has one has declared that sales of lottery tickets are on the rise... Not to mention the school taxes that we all contribute.. When you live in a state (NY) that you are paying more into your escrow account (property and school taxes) then the actual mortgage, I'd say there is a big problem and funds are being misappropriated, wouldn't you? Oh and have your favorite teachers taken advantage of the tax credit they receive for buying school supplies? You can thank Bush for that, it was included in his tax cuts (now Obama's)...

This is just one example of your blatantly false assertions. Most states with education lotteries are currently forced to curtail benefits and increase requirements to compensate for the fall (since the Bush/Cheney depression began) in lottery sales.
Additionally, you seem unable to do simple math: 65 bucks per hour works out to about $125k annually. That is square in the middle class.

80% of our national politicians are millionaires or greater. They do not represent the interests of an average person and have lost touch with the citizenry they are supposed to represent. Look at your local politicians voting record and see what he or she has done for you lately- chances are, it's not much.

After we make our concerns known, we will get organized and find ways to make some changes that are good for the average, working people and our country.

For over 25 years, the United States government has been cheating millions of Social Security recipients out of up to 60% of their EARNED benefits due to the unfair WEP and GPO laws. If a person has paid into two separate retirement systems, that person should receive the full benefits of each. The Reagan administration changed the rules after people had been paying into Social Security for decades. How fair is that?
If you have a private retirement system or a 401K, do you honestly believe that your Social Security benefits should be reduced by up to 60% and you be falsely accused of "double dipping"– especially after the Social Security system has been accepting your Earned Contributions for decades? Are we now going to be means tested, and if our government deems we have worked and earned “too much” during the course of our lives, than have our Earned Social Security Benefits reduced or completely eliminated? And how can you trust a government that changes the rules you’ve fairly played by just before you’re ready to retire?
Our government's Social Security rule changes mid-stream have thrown many of our senior citizens into poverty. The average Social Security payment is around $1,100 per month but tens of thousands of retirees effected by Reagan's WEP & GPO laws earn far less than even $1000 per month because their EARNED benefits were unfairly reduced. Try living on that pittance in your "golden years."
Bills to repeal the WEP & GPO laws are never even voted on by our cowardly congress. That's because whenever a bill to repeal these unfair laws they are tied up in committee and never see the light of day. In other words, our congress plays games while seniors are forced into poverty by the hidden taxes known as WEP and GPO.
Our congress people are now whining that they can't live on their $174,000 per year salaries, yet they have no trouble sleeping at nights when America's senior citizens can't buy food or medicine due to our nation's corrupt Social Security laws. We can’t afford to pay seniors the benefits that they actually EARNED but we can afford to give away billions to foreign banks and squander over FOUR TRILLION DOLLARS in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Herman Cain is 150% correct when he says the demonstrators need to take their beef directly to the White House where Obozo has contributed significantly to the terrible economic situations.
