Texas Congressman Ron Paul raised $8 million in the third quarter with 100,000 donors, his campaign confirms to NBC News.
Paul has now announced the news -- at his speech at the National Press Club in Washington, NBC's Carrie Dann reports.
Paul raised $4.5 million in the second quarter.
Paul has a devoted following that has bolstered his fundraising this cycle and in 2007-2008. In the latest NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll, Paul was third with 9% behind Rick Perry and Mitt Romney.

Devoted & delusional is more like it! ;o)
The hollar of 'impeachment' sure looks to be popular & profitable.
A fool & his money are soon parted - ancient tea bag proverb
A fool & his money are soon parted - ancient tea bag proverb........................................Great minds think alike .. ;-)
That's a lot of money for an old man who yells at clods to dupe his followers out as Say it isn't so says--A fool & his money soon part
Wasn't it fool man chu said it ?
Wonder what Rep. Paul will do with all that money?
He'll never be elected President.
Oh well...
They say President Obama might raise $1 billion for his 2012 campaign.
And, HE won't be reelected.
Barack Obama and Ron Paul...
Raising money...and tilting at windmills.
Quite amazing at all the Obama supporters here that so quickly ridicule anyone First Read writes about. It's the same Obama supporters that so quickly turn a blind eye to all the calculated screw ups made by the temporary resident of the White House.
I heard someone say the other day that there's one big difference between 2008 and 2012 as far as Obama goes.... this time he has a record... and one that we certainly can't be proud of.
He'll never be elected President.
Yeah, you're right.
Best case scenario -- third party candidate.
Worst case scenario -- third party candidate.
Karl Rove -- raising $250 million to defeat Don Quixote.
Priceless.
Question is, AM...
How much are you giving to stop Karl?
Bring that mattress money out, AM.
Time to go all-in for President Obama.
No...?
I don't know which ancient Oriental philosopher said this:
A man can not get rich watching his neighbor even if he watches neighbor day and night. It's relevant because the right wing trolls watch every move the President makes and lie about it. Consequently, they sink lower and lower in the polls.
It is sad
John Boehner brags in all his interviews that he got 98% of what he wanted in the debt ceiling debate, but this new poll by CNN proves that what the Republican House Speaker wanted, was not what Americans want. The poll was conducted after the debt ceiling debacle in Washington, and it finds that overwhelmingly, Americans really don’t like Congressional Republicans.
http://ezkool.com/2011/08/americans-are-really-disgusted-with-congressional-republican/
You should know that the latest polls have republicans in Congress even lower now due to John Boehnoer, Eric Cantor, and Mitch McConnell's opposition to the J-O-B-S bill!!!
Can you smell the Merlot each time Boehnor bangs the gavel?
I have an easy excuse here.
When all is said and done, I'll be "all-in" -- based, of course, on that "beats-the-alternative" theory you mentioned earlier -- but I usually don't give to political campaigns, other than to check the little box on my tax return., which is all the campaign finance that I personally believe in.
So, no to that. Unless mine is the last dollar standing.
How about you? To whom are you planning to contribute?
I'll wait to see who the conservative candidate is, AM.
You don't have to wait, do you?
Might as well jump.
LoL Probably not. I hope the water's warm.
Now where did I put my life jacket? ;-)
That's why I love ya, AM.
You make me laugh.
It ain't easy these days.
the problem is not the amount of money raised but what GOP/TP governors are doing in there various states.........moving the goal post in middle of the game.
MB
If GOP are so sure of this election, why are they changing the rules and coming up with shameful laws to deny american citizens their rights. what's the deal here?
I live to serve, Bag Boy.
Cheeseheads float, don't they?
Well, just in case, if you happen to sail by, be sure to stop and pick me up. :-O
After WV, I'll bet Bag Boy knows the answer to this.
Margin of error.
AM
WV's margin of error hurts them so badly. I'll take that margin of error any day.
According to Mo, that's "margin of area".
lol
You are misinformed. He is the only candidate talking about the military industrial complex, the destruction of our currency through the illegal policies of the federal reserve, the dangerous unintended consequences of meddling in the internal affairs of other nations, and the dangers of cronyism. You want to dismiss him? Shame on you. He is the only real candidate running for the POTUS in 2012. In 20 years when America is decimated from perpetual war and the destruction of her currency we will look back as a nation and realize we should have taken the gentle old man from Pittsburgh more seriously. Now is our time America. We need to get behind him
PEN-24-
I'm no more certain of the outcome of the 2012 presidential election than anyone else..
However, I am certain about President Obama's record to date on jobs and the economy.
If the U.S. economy is surging by Election Day 2012, feel free to tell me I was wrong.
I'll welcome the criticism.
For now...
You've little to talk about, have you?
You mean that "gentle old man" who believes that we don't need regulation of auto safety, as he stated in a recent debate.
Okay. Let him run. But be sure that "gentle old man" runs a frugal campaign and drives only used Chevy Corvairs.
Read about that here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ralph_Nader
I'm with you on the perpetual wars, however. And "death to corporate media," for sure.
Yes that guy who holds hope that we the buyers know what is safe. Not a government regulator that sells safty permits to the highest bidder. Prime example the oil spill. How did that happen? Oh yeah because the EPA stamped a drill permit without actually seeing the site. Get a clue.
I am not concerned with auto safety. Do you think he will be able to dismantle auto safety while working with congress? The most immediate impact a president can have is in regards to foreign policy and our military. He would immediately usher in a new age of a humble foreign policy.
We are talking about the presidency! The voice of our country! Not the head of a domestic department.
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem:
Abusive ad hominem (also called personal abuse or personal attacks) usually involves insulting or belittling one's opponent in order to attack his claim or invalidate his argument, but can also involve pointing out factual but apparent character flaws or actions that are irrelevant to the opponent's argument. This tactic is logically fallacious because insults and negative facts about the opponent's personal character have nothing to do with the logical merits of the opponent's arguments or assertions.
Congressman Paul has raised an impressive amount of money. While his positions, in too many instances, are extreme and probably not realistic in this constantly shrinking world, the fact is he doesn't mince words. He doesn't mount petty attacks and he tells now, and has been telling for some time, about the foolishness of the incredible debt burden we face. A lot of people like his head-on approach, accomplished without the boorishness of some of his fellow Republicans.
The fact is, Mr. Paul is of a much more Libertarian bent than Republican. I have been to any number of debates and the Libertarian was the most honest, straightforward, and frankly almost always had the best sense of humor. If nothing else, the audience very much liked the Libertarians.
The problem is, they buy into the line that voting for a Libertarian is wasting your vote. We heard the same thing about voting for Ralph Nader. That argument is dishonest and disingenuous.
One should follow his heart, his conscience, and his intellect when voting. If a voter believes the Libertarian is the best candidate......dammit, vote for that candidate. If he believes the Green candidate is the best candidate......dammit, vote for that candidate.
If one wishes to speak of wasting one's vote.....it couldn't be more clear that voting for second-best or the lesser of two evils is wasting your vote.
Do you mean Paul is lying about his commitment to getting rid of government regulations?
Or are you saying it's a bad idea that Congress would never countenance?
And, by the way, the reason you're not concerned with automobile safety is that Ralph Nader took care of that for you. Like a lot of other things you don't have to worry about because they're also regulated.
Exactly what Ron Paul says he will change. Or will he, really?
Disagree. Imagine how the world might be different had Hubert Humphrey beaten Richard Nixon, or had Al Gore defeated George W. Bush, which he would have done straight up, and without reference to hanging chads, if Nader had not been on the ballot in Florida.
At the very least we wouldn't have plunged headlong into Iraq. And I doubt we would be having this particular debate about taxes.
It's the same reason I won't throw my vote away this time, either.
I imagine what the world might be like if I did.
Anna Molly:
I have no idea what the world would have been like had Humphrey beaten Nixon. Neither do I know where we would be had Gore not had the election taken from him by the Supreme Court. On that score, I voted for Nader because I thought he was the best candidate then, and nothing has convinced me that I was wrong to this day.
I am of the mind that there is little difference between Dems and Repubs. The Dems merely slow the trend to serfdom.
Nope, I will always vote for the candidate I think is the best of the bunch. Fortunately, that choice is President Obama. Hope and change? I'm hoping like hell that if and when he wins, he gets a serious Democratic majority in Congress and America goes to war with the pillaging bastards of Big Money and Megabuck Monstrocorp. That's the change I want.
Ron Paul may sound extremist in some of his views. However, he is realistic enough to know that science exists, God did not create the world 6000 years ago, the government should not be dictating anything to do with an individuals sexual organs, the US Government should not be secretly deciding which citizens it wants to murder.
When our government starts killing its citizens and the only candidate for President to speak out against it is Ron Paul, he is the only one who earns my vote.
BTW: He is one of two candidates who have not pledge their souls to Grover Norquist, the other is Jon Huntsman.
Only thing I can add to this, is, that if Ron Paul doesn't win, I don't think America has 20 years left. There are major protests going on in the streets because the current Republcrat same old government as the last POTUS administration keep doing the same thing, running our economy into the ground, and putting millions jobless into the streets. 4 more years will have how many more jobless? Eventually, they're going to realize the protests aren't doing any good, the government has given up on the people long ago and now only follow the lead of their corporate puppet masters. The only thing that can change this steady decline, is a Revolution. A Revolution that ends the fed, ends big government, brings back the gold standard, and follows the guidelines for the nation set in The Constitution. A Ron Paul Revolution!!!
If that doesn't happen, the protesters that realize the voters didnt change anything will probably lead the revolution.
David, he won't "go to war with the pillaging bastards of Big Money and Megabuck Monstrocorp". because he is part of that same bunch, his administration is just as bought out as the republicans in congress.
Paul raised $4.5 million in the second quarter.
That's nice.
What is even nicer:
Latest poll; Any Republican 47% Obama 41%
Bob, polls do not determine anything unless you mindlessly pay attention to them, votes do however and that will be next year.
"Latest poll; Any Republican 47% Obama 41%"
You'll let us know when "Any Republican" is nominated, ok?
Sorry, Tea Party "Patriots" and republicans. None of your "leaders" have a chance at the presidency.
President Obama has another term to serve.
Try again in 2016.
Obama is a terrible failure. Look at the streets in any major city. What is going on right now? Major protests. This is OBAMA'S AMERICA!!! We don't need another Republicrat. We need someone that will actually change the government for the better. We need someone that will End The Fed!!!
Ron Paul 2012!!!
Its a shame, its a waste of money.
Think about this, If all of the money, that will be raised for this election, was put towards the debt, we would have a good start at lowering it. Remember its just a thought.
The people who donate to Paul aren't donating for special treatment and favors--they donate because they appreciate his steady voice of principle and reason in the midst of vapid rhetoric on all sides. You can't Black This Out. What does "Black this out" mean anyway? Hint, it's Oct 19th...
People waste a lot of money donating to politicians and then can't feed their families. I have never and never will give a penney of my money to any politician, even the ones I support.
I know I can write it off on taxes but I think I'll just keep my money in my pocket.
ItM - I wouldn't worry about not donating to a politician. They aren't looking for our money anyway. They want the big corporate bucks so they can exchange favors for them. Obama took plenty of corporate bucks last time, along with union bucks... That's why he's a corporate dupe and union supporter... Just don't tell this to the liberals... they think he's as pure as the wind driven snow.
Brian, who is supporting the Repubs right now. I will give you a hint, Corporations. So what favors are they going to owe to big business, its just how business is done in politics and will not change unless we change it. So get of that horse and walk a while you might see more.
Really?! That would be news to the IRS. LoL
Political donations are NOT tax deductible -- except in theory for that little box on your tax return, which takes the money out of your tax liability.
You cannot deduct political contributions, ITM. Please tell me you don't prepare your own tax returns?
It sure wouldn't surprise me if THAT's a loophole many 'take' and then later claim ignorance about?
LOL.
Come on... cut ITM some slack...
He's claimed to be many things but, I don't think CPA was amongst them... lol
You used to be able to claim a credit for political contributions but it was repealed in the Tax Reform Act of 1986. I still have clients who carefully list them---I guess hope springs eternal!
[You cannot deduct political contributions, ITM.]
ITM's cheating on his taxes?
Wow...just, wow...
Or not...but the IRS doesn't want to hear H&R did it, either...right, ITM?
First of all anything is deductible with the right CPA. I'm not a tax expert and my taxes are always too difficult to attempt a self-prepare.
People have deducted donations through loopholes for years. I do not donate to politicians so I would not know how it is done but peopel do it.
You can NEVER say what can't be deducted on tax returns even if a law was passed. ALL TAX laws are subjective.
Mickey:
I don't cheat on taxes but I know a lot of people who makes about 20-30 grand with no fed tax liability and receive 8-10 grand back on taxes EVERY year.
Political donations can be written off simply by just donating to a non-profit that in turn donates to political activities that has your agenda in mind.
See how easy that was and it is legal. I imagine some of you in here know this already the way you brag about sending these politicians checks.
I'm a business man; I know a lot of loopholes but I don't mess with the IRS, that shyt comes back to bite you.
The 21st Century version of democracy in the United States is a process that strips away resources from important initiatives, many of them non-profit, that help real people in the real world. Sadly, all the money raised 'stimulates' a very limited part of the economy.
Is advertising a business sector worthy of support? Yes. Is it more important than hiring top-flight teachers? Or nursing home aides? Or feeding hungry children living in poverty? Or supporting good dental health in rural areas? Or just about anything that can make a concrete difference to the good in society? No.
Capitalism is not user friendly.
President Obama will beat any of these other folks running.
maybe with a little help from his old cia buddies
ron paul 2012
Libertarian bumper sticker:
Ron Paul...too extreme for even...Ron Paul
800,000 people actually thought contributing to Ron Paul was a worthwhile expenditure...?
A sucker is born every minute. PT Barnum
Mike you are misinformed. He is the only candidate talking about the military industrial complex, the destruction of our currency through the illegal policies of the federal reserve, the dangerous unintended consequences of meddling in the internal affairs of other nations, and the dangers of cronyism. Of course he is, he does not agree with you, has his own thoughts, only you have all the answers. Ron Paul is a candidate just like all the rest, no better no worse, he has good ideas and bad ideas, he makes good statements and shoots himself in the foot just like the rest. It is called politics and everyone has a right to believe as they see fit and some have the right to be led around by the nose, ears, throat or what ever they can grab. Make your statement and believes but allow others to make their own judgements based on their beliefs not yours.
He really didn't articulate any thoughts outside calling his donors "suckers".
I want my name back. You are not worthy to have it. People are taking back their country. Just watch. Already got my parents to change from Dems to Repubs to vote for him.
As Mr. Paul represents a complete 180 of what we've been doing for the last 70 years, he is getting my support.
[Already got my parents to change from Dems to Repubs to vote for him.]
Gee...usually it's the parents that are brainwashing their kids...
To all you ron paul fans - get a life he will never, ever, ever, ever get the nod from the big wigs in the repug's party. Those at faux news and the koch-heads will never allow it. You folks need to realize that elections no longer belong to the "people", thanks to the those 5 men in black robes, elections now belong to big corp and rich folks.
Why are people so afraid of Ron Paul? Is it because he predicted this economic mess 4 years ago?
Are they afraid of him because he is logical and makes sense?
Are they afraid of him because he promotes peace and wants to bring out troops home?
Vote Ron Paul 2012... Bye the way, the money bomb is coming up.
The people on this forum are the reason America is going down the drain. WAKE UP ALREADY!!!
DO SOME READING!!!! END THE FED!! END THE DRUG WAR!! END THE FOREIGN OCCUPATIONS!!!
Ron Paul is our only hope!!!
I have to disagree - our ONLY hope is you're not breeding! lol

It's amazing how you have a special pass to constantly add NO VALUE to ANY of the conversations, attack people on a daily basis and never suffer any bans. Are you married to the Vine's owner?
