“In a sharp rebuke of his Republican rivals, President Barack Obama said anyone who wants to be commander in chief must support the entire US military, including gay service members,” the AP writes. “A combative Obama criticized GOP presidential candidates for staying silent when the crowd at a recent debate booed a gay soldier who asked a question of the contenders via videotape. ‘You want to be commander in chief? You can start by standing up for the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States, even when it’s not politically convenient,’ Obama said during remarks at the annual dinner of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest gay rights organization. Referencing the boos at the Sept. 22 Republican debate, he said: ‘We don’t believe in standing silent when that happens.’”
John Harwood says that Obama will likely borrow from George W. Bush’s 2004 re-election playbook. “Circumstances have changed drastically since 2004. America’s economic woes stand to dominate the 2012 dialogue no matter what — probably to Mr. Obama’s detriment. Yet in important electoral battlegrounds, Mr. Obama’s strategists intend to use abortion, gay rights, the environment and successes in the fight against Al Qaeda to counter economic attacks and drive a wedge between Republicans and swing voters. The Democratic shift from defense to offense on those issues stems from evolving public attitudes, intensifying Republican conservatism and the raid that killed Osama bin Laden on Mr. Obama’s orders.”
Channeling what we wrote on Friday, the New York Times notes the president’s growing list of foreign- policy and national-security accomplishments -- which have been overshadowed by the struggling U.S. economy. “Ten years after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, economic insecurity has replaced national security as Americans’ chief concern, leaving Mr. Obama with little credit for his record of hunting and killing terrorists — a topic that stirred public passions not long ago.”
“The Obama campaign is likely to beat its $55 million target for combined third-quarter contributions to joint party and presidential committees — but likely to lag its record-breaking second-quarter haul, according to Democrats involved in the effort,” Politico reports. (The debt-ceiling debate wiped out about a month of Obama/DNC fundraising…)
“If, as now expected, the justices agree to review the [health] law’s constitutionality, those deliberations would certainly define the court’s coming term,” AP writes. “Their decision could rank as the court’s most significant since the December 2000 ruling that effectively sealed George W. Bush’s election as president.”

Yes! Yes! Yes! Take the fight to the GOP, Barack! KNOCK THEM OUT!
And- call them on their damned lying.
$16 Muffins?
Seems Bill-O the clown took Jon Stewart to task for not knowing about those high-end muffins. Well, turns out the right is distorting the truth (again) about this one. That $16 covered the muffins as well as the rest of a continental breakfast, including tea and coffee, as well as the free use of 450 seats in the Capitol Hilton.
Why is it so hard for these jackasses to try the truth once in a while?
DBO
Really? Is it really so hard for the Right to tell the truth? They can, its just painful when they have use facts, something not used on Fox News
[Why is it so hard for these jackasses to try the truth once in a while?]
Because it's easier to say "$16 muffins"...
Every criticism of the president from the right-wing is a larger flaw in the Teapublican Party. Exceptionalism? What GOP/TP candidate is an example of this? Presenting plans? Where is the GOP/TP plan for job creation? FYI -- Cutting more taxes and removing more regulation and then waiting for the economy to recover on it's own is NOT a plan.
The reason Romney and even Ron Paul are doing better than usual is because the current GOP/TP field is so weak. Leadership? Not only did every GOP/TP presidential candidate fail to stand up to booing of the soldier in Iraq, but they failed repeatedly to stand up to booing of executions and letting a man without health insurance die as well. If you listen to some of the tape from radio or what have you, the responses to outrageous callers are even more pitiful. McCain telling that women that Obama is not an "Arab" is probably the last of leadership we will see from Teapublicans.
There are several other examples like this, but Peggy Noonan on Meet The Press yesterday went off on a rant about leadership and how a president must find ways to work with congress. We could review history and cite examples, which on the surface seem to support what Noonan claims. But when we dig deeper, we see it is a pile of chicken crap because "now" isn't anything like "then."
No doubt progressives feel the president offered too many olive branches and gave up too much too quickly in negotiations. IMO, the president has been too conciliatory in lieu of working in the background to coerce better outcomes. Yes, coerce is the word -- not backroom deals with ear marks, but some serious arm twisting is all this class of Teapublicans would understand. But I believe the strongest pressure would not have impact as it may have in the past with this single-minded Teapublican Party of No.
This is where the intellectually dishonest like Noonan soon part paths. Conservatives not only refuse to admit to their role in gridlock -- for example on Meet the Press the point was raised about the use of the filibuster on everything thus preventing the president's job plan from being brought to a vote in the Senate, and of course this was dismissed by conservatives on the panel. Most of all conservatives refuse to admit that they are the Party adrift with NO LEADERSHIP, with Boehner having to make multiple attempts to get his House members in line, with Shock Jocks like Limbaugh or dweebs like Norquist wielding more power -- With a GOP/TP field so bereft of leadership that establishment Republicans are desperately searching high and low to find someone else to run.
This is an old tactic used by conservatives, to sling mud at the other Party in hopes that everything will be so muddied no one will notice how pitiful they are. The day Teapublicans illustrate even a tiny example of exceptionalism, or leadership, and most of all presenting solutions of their own, is the day pigs will fly.
Even at $16/person, that is still an expensive breakfast. AND if you are paying that much then "free" use isn't really "free" is it? And it's not like the Democrats have ever stretched the truth either, so instead of criticizing someone else, why don't you criticize your own party for such wasteful taxpayer spending?
Mr Obama perhaps since the decision of who your GOP rival will be in the 2012 presidential election is months away, it would be better to concentrate your energy on helping America in these tough economic times instead of campaigning.
Glenn since the decision of who will be the tea people GOP republican candidate is months away, it would be better for them to concentrate their energy on helping American in these tough economic times instead of trying to make President Obama a one term President.
60 freshman republicans too tough for Obama..........
He can't out muscle or outsmart them? How weak and pathetic is he?
Lets talk about how weak and pathetic those 60 freshman that signed a pledge to a lobbyist named Grover Norquest and put that over the needs of their country. You want to talk weak and pathetic, add greedy and self serving as that describes them too. We are working on getting Obama the other side of the government that works for the country instead of their own selfish interests. Hang on and stay tuned.
You need to rephrase that statement Rob. It is the tea people GOP republican leadership in the house Boehner and Cantor that can't out muscle and outsmart the freshman tea people. They've voted against the GOP leadership several times, making Boehner and Cantor look incompetent.
As with you, obama, and all the other libs....
THE BUCK STOPS ELSEWHERE!
great leadership....
There you go, Rob, with that age-old error of mistaking kindness and diplomacy and civility for weakness...
Like Linda told you, "Hang on and stay tuned!"
Linda forgot to mention that they already had all sides of government and FAILED miserably. Don't you remember? Obama called it a shellacking. More of the same coming in November 2012....
No, but I DO remember McConnell admiting that Republicans & Teanuts took the United States economy HOSTAGE and received a ransome of, "98% of what we wanted."
Pitifull! Assinine!!! UN-PATRIOTIC!!!! No place in Washington DC for such non-sense.
[Linda forgot to mention that they already had all sides of government and FAILED miserably.]
Oh lord, Raab...not the Fox "news" super-majority lie again...
Conservatism these days seems to mean dining and ditching. They go into a restaurant (Government) buy everything on the menu (run up the debt) and ditching before the bill comes (debt ceiling, spending etc..) and living the bill for the restaurant ( Next President and taxpayers) to pick up. Can someone on the Right explain why this is?
Geez Rob in ma you took a test on our government in 8th grade, you know the president can not enact laws or policies, or even budgets that is the duty of the legislative branch, it is specifically designed so that no president can ever single handedly "muscle them" or "outsmart them" the decision is theirs (congress) alone, he has veto power that is all, and even that can be reversed by congress. Try to be a little more fair and honest towards your president, he may be your president for 4 more years, so even if you don't like him you should at least be fair and honest in your criticism and not leave yourself open to have your arguments destroyed by any 8th grader.
Recently I was watching a program about major events that changed TV. It was noted how Bill O'Really was the first to interject opinion rather than fact in his reporting. Furthermore, due to the style of presentation (outrageous, aggressive, insulting), he single-handily launched FAUX Noise to the highest ratings. Now Bill O'Really is in the top 1% wealthy, because FOX owes everything to him.
Likewise the world now knows who to blame, who is "patient zero" in this outbreak of the no fact zone, spawning the disease to others like Sean Insanity and Glenn the False Prophet Beck. That's right folks, now it has been documented exactly who, why and how we lost news that at one time just reported facts.
"Fake but accurate" - Dan Rather
"The Obama campaign is likely to beat its $55 million target for combined third-quarter contributions to joint party and presidential committees"
The Obama campaign needs these huge contributions from fat cat Wall Street millionaires , to pay for campaign ads attacking fat cat Wall Street millionaires who contribute to campaigns...
Hey Bob! Wasn't it the republicans that refused to vote against the fat cat millionaires and corporations being able to contribute whatever to whoever? Seems to me Obama wanted to stop that practice>
Oh, and Im not a fat cat, and many more just like me are proud to say we support the future president. And the most wealthy millionaires in the country I believe are sitting in the gop camp. Ever hear of the Koch brothers? Or about Murdock and fox giving what was it, a million to the republicans for the primaries the whole while pretending to be fair and balanced?
Soros, Gates, Buffet, the entire Apple corporation, GE, Hollywood. There are plenty fat cat millionare and billionare liberals, quit distoring the truth.
Kilobyte1339
Really, you really want to compare who has more millionaires or billionaires in their camps?
Is that more than the republicans will rake in from wall street? I sure hope so because having a good amount of campaign cash is an always an advantage in American politics.
"John Harwood says that Obama will likely borrow from George W. Bush’s 2004 re-election playbook."
So , the delusional liberal media has toned down the "Obama is Reagan" comparison.....In desperation, now it is "Obama is Bush"? Anything to avoid the obvious comparison...Obama is Jimmy Carter....
Mr. President, now you're sticking it to them. GOP/TP need to hear more of these truth stingers.
I was thinking about the contrast between Carter and Obama just the other day.
Carter was an introvert who saw where we should be heading, but couldn't communicate his insight in a positive, dynamic way. Carter sounded the alarm about our dependence on oil. He was right, but America didn't want to listen. Instead, we got Reagan, Mr. Denier-in-Chief, who shoved the need to get off foreign oil under the rug.
Now, we have Obama, who is as smart as Carter, but has the skills to inspire people and sound a positive, active message. I think President Obama is our best chance for moving America forward.
Amy
I think President Obama is our best chance for moving America forward.
there's no doubt about that and greedy conservatives know that but will never agree because it threatens their greedy-hood . ask yourself, what exactly are the no idea party offering us? It's all about them and them alone........when am full, if i like, I'll trickle down to you. We all need to stay steadfast with the president and fight this fight together. Let them keep fighting for "ME" and we will keep fighting for "WE".
Bob,
I would take Carter of someone who ran up the debt more than any President ever, sold weapons to the terrorist state Iran and was senile while in office. The comparison isn't so good now is it
When do you think the libbie freeloaders that blocked up traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge will figure out that Obama has taken more money from Wall Street than any politician in the history of the Planet?
Any actual facts to back that up Rob? I didn't think so. Just more Fox tea people GOP republican propaganda.
Actually I heard that on MSNBC this morning.....more than "anyone in the history of the planet".
Prove it. I doubt you can, because like the majority of your ilk, your information is all based on what someone else told you to believe. That has been proven over and over. Fox anyone?
My sense is Wall Street backed Obama in 2008 because McCain outright confessed he didn't understand the economy. President Obama took office, bailed out the fat cats in an effort to save the country from a depression...and now, the ungrateful bastards are back to bankrolling the GOP to protect their tax rates.
[When do you think the libbie freeloaders that blocked up traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge...]
There were quite a lot of Tea Party folk there too, Raa-bert...and Republicans...and Conservatives...and as far as the "libbie freeloaders" that were there, I'm sure you're grateful that these "freeloaders" are fighting for YOUR interests as well...something that you don't have the balls to do on your own...
...hmmm...getting someone else to fight your battles...I think that falls under the category of cowardice...
...but how about a heartfelt "Thank You" anyway?
You can knock those kids all you want Rob in ma, but one thing is for sure they are not marching because they love republican policies, the fact is that it is quite the opposite, they spell more trouble for the republicans, they will be much more of a problem for republicans than they ever will be for Obama, and democrats. I'm damn proud of those kids.
Well hell Rickster, now I feel bad because I did not get a phone call or E-mail or any marching orders from the DNC. No that is not what it is, these people are smart enough to know they have been screwed, they don't need anybody to tell them that. This is in part a reaction to the success of republicans in the mid-terms on the jobs issue with which they did such a good job of torturing democrats with, but then followed up with a year of nothing. This is a reaction to republican governors trying to balance their budgets entirely on the backs of state employees, while continuing to refuse any tax increases, and continuing to give tax breaks to corporations at the expense of their constituents expense. This spells trouble for republican politicians at every level.
How long do you suppose Obama will be able to continue with the BALD FACED LIE that millionaires and billionaires pay less taxes than plumbers?
Will the media continue it's complicity in spreading that LIE to the American Public?
Will the public accept the most negative campaigning ever seen from a sitting president (we are not there yet but we all know it's coming)?
You as a tea people GOP republican accuse someone else of negative campaigning. Oh my Rob, do you listen to how negative your own parties campaigning is.
Rob! Again! Prove it, with bi partisan sources. I have checked the number sites many times and Obama is right on and is not the one giving the BALD FACED LIES. Next?
Mo and linda - quit being stupid and re-read robs post, he is spot on with the income tax issue. Just search "who pays income taxes" IRS supplied data is available for all to see.
Doing a quick search on 49% pay no income taxes will also yield the following little tidbit and I paraphrase...
The biggest lie obama and company promote is that if the wealthy would just give a little more to this program, or that program we would have a return to sound fiscal policy. Sorry, just doesn't wash.
buffet estimates that his own (as he proposed) "buffet tax rule" only increases revenue by $20 billion/year and letting the obama (bush) tax cuts expire in 2013 for the top 2% only adds $80 billion/year in revenue. Hardly a recipe for resolving our debt over anything other than a very, very long term. Yet obama and company ignores what the real numbers are when all the tax cuts are allowed to expire in 2013. Estimates vary from $3 to $3.5 trillion over 10 years. Look up "what the bush tax cuts cost". Of course the 98%ers don't want to hear this for it is always easier to want someone else to pay the bill.
I doubt obama is ignoring this big stepup in revenue as he will likely play this card if he wins re-election. A step-up in revenue of $2.5 trillion will be hard to ignore and he will have nothing to lose by allowing the cuts to expire across the board.
The bottom line is if we don't start controlling and limiting (big time) what we spend, no amount of revenue increases will be effective in reducing debt. Just wait until our very low interest rates start to rise and our interest payment on our debt also rise.
Interesting to note that obama and company seems to want to ignore tax reform and carry on with the old school politics of "deficits don't matter". Regardless of whether the tea party ever becomes a viable force in American politics they at least woke the populace (sans many FR libs) that "deficits DO matter"
Rob,
I take it you still believe in the trickle down effect, I believe that fetish is outlawed in quite a few states I hear
The president is right! As president one cannot pick and choose who he'll support and back, and as such this man has shown true leadership capabilities. That leadership is grossly lacking in the cookie-cutter selection in the Tragic Egotistical Antagonist(TEA) party contenders shows the need for someone else to run! I support Governor Christi as he would be more forthwith with the Terrifying Errant Activist(TEA) party membership and would definitely bring them in line! President Obama called for new infrastructure spending to improve America’s crumbling roads and bridges and to improve our rail lines, Republicans immediately reversed their long-held belief in a strong American infrastructure. Why? Because they hate President Obama and oppose everything he believes in or places forward! Environmental Protection Originally championed by Theodore Roosevelt, Republicans used to support efforts to protect the environment. Over the last century, however, that support has reversed. Republicans have employed deficit spending since the Reagan years and abused it during the Bush administration to pass the conservative agenda and to fund wars. Reagan doubled the national debt and George W. Bush proceeded to double it again. But because Democrats controlled the White House and the Congress from 2008 to 2010, Republicans completely reversed their stance on deficit spending and still oppose deficit spending solely on the grounds that a Republican isn’t President.
Rudy, bloombergTV did an analysis over time on which party spends the most. Seems that they found that both parties spent wantonly depending on what party was in power. The old school philosophy by either party has been on "deficits don't matter" Regardless of your stupidity regarding the tea (taxed enough already) party, the tea party at least recognizes the fallacy of "deficits don't matter"
The caveat here does lie within times of war, natural disaster and the occasional recession. In all these cases spending cuts also need to be applied to help minimize deficits as well as revenue increases. IE cuts first, revenues next (across the board) with recessions having a more "by gosh and by golly" approach to spending/revenues.
Within the time frame obama proposes increased infrastructure spending to create jobs, ain't going to happen. Long term yes, short term no. Rail lines (assuming passenger rail) good money pit for taxpayer $$$ there with an even longer time line for any type of long term job creation or profitability in either cash or energy.
As with many of your compatriots, dwelling on the past doesn't help us out of our current events. If obama and company don't want to move forward it is time to find someone who will.
Take the fight to the Tea-Bagger Republicans! I have on my marching boots to help fight the party of Hate!
You're not alone, Tommy. Onward JUST soldiers.
I thought you libtards were all about peace and tranquility.
Kilobyte
Much better that the Repubs sending other peoples kids to war. They love the soldiers as long as there fighting, but come back, they want to cut the very services that the soldiers need to readjust back to civilian life. Absolutely disgusting, fight, fight, fight, just don't come home
philip - LMAO! Obama is doing quite well in sending our youngsters off into harms way. And he also seems to have no problem in NOT SEEKING CONGRESSIONAL APPROVAL to do so.
Poor libs, such stupidity on their parts as they try to equate a more fiscally responsible approach for spending to hatred. Humorous but trully sad. All those dollars spent on servicing our nations debt instead of serving the populace equally.
BTW - There are three groups of our population to hold responsible for our debt.
1. every voting age American, past and present.
2. every potus, past and present
3. Every congressional member past or present who sought to buy votes by creating unsustainable government programs.
After the Saddam/Iraq fiasco of the last administration, DON'T EVEN TRY TO GO THERE American. We are ALL so sick and tired of RNC regurgatated lies, half-truths, spin and sales pitches that we don't even hear you any more; YOU ARE TUNED OUT!
You can keep trying to re-write history and truth, but you are NOT going to succeed in tricking voters into allowing a Republican or Teanut in the White House 2012 - just aint goint to happen, so you may as well cease the repetitive garbage you spout.
Obama EXPANDED THE WAR IN IRAQ you moron, what happend to that immediate pullout he promised during the campaign? Another broken probise and your libtards bought it hook line and sinker!
Never...
They prefer to deal in TRUTH and Facts instead of twisted RNC spin and un-founded talking points.
Truth and Facts......???
Imus in the morning has audio tape of the protesters. One protester wants the government to stop altering Soybeans that change our DNA. It was great stuff. Unfortunately, these little liberal get togethers never last because liberals by nature are inheritantly LAZY. That fact in particular is why the tea party is so hated. The teaparty (which I am not a member of by the way) is here to stay.
[The teaparty (which I am not a member of by the way)]
Suuuuuurrrrreeeeeeee you're not, Raab...you don't even have the peas to admit you're Tea Party!
I don't blame you, I mean, with moonbats like Bachmann, Palin, Beck, Paul and good 'ol Tricky Dick Armey leading the charge.
Good job, though. At least you admit that you're hiding your head in the sand.
boy mickey, you tried to connect the dots from robs post 10 into ...
Just how did you do that?? lmao! talk about stupidity, first you have to prove the lie. Then you can talk about heads in the sand, including your own,
Tune out Mickey - it is MORE of the same...
YOU don't "have to prove the lie" first, because they proved it for you with their posts. Same tired right-wing nonsense they always use, in this case deflection. Notice how easily they try to slip from trying to claim President Obama
then, when caught and called on it, switching to "Imus in the morning" non-sense. Straight out of the RNC play book, and they think voters don't see or know what they try to do...
Laughable!! Sad, but laughable.
Rob
Your getting your facts from Imus now? Really Imus?
Obama agenda: Going as negative as possible, and sprinkling in some lies, because the record is like a soiled diaper so he cant point to that.
Rob
So Obama is taking a cue from Repubs then, bravo for using their own dirty tricks. When Repubs have to eat their own hypocrisy, it quite a bitter taste isn't it Rob
RobDebo89, here's what the Obama campaign pushers don't know.......when people see the lies for what they are ( like the Perry is a racist thing) , the Democrats poll numbers go DOWN.
Its not real smart to suck up on poll numbers. Not one of those polls have ever called me! How about you? So then, they cannot speak for me now can they?
As far as Perry being a racist, well now that I have no idea of. But one thing I do know is, he LOVES to hear himself talk. The keyword being HE. That was last week, this week it is Christi and Cain is getting his stars and next week it will be has been gingrich and on it goes. NEXT.... All of em together cannot come up with one understandable sentence imo. Yep its Obama 2012

Mr./Mrs. G. Republican is on record as stating he/she/it will hold a press conference to announce consideration to run for president at about the time Sarah Palin and Chris Christie hold a press conference to announce they are considering a run for the presidency.
First Read crows about the President's "growing" list of accomplishments and whines that he is not being given credit. The New York Times said the same thing? What a surprise. The Wash Post was too busy looking at rocks painted over 30 years ag to smear Rick Perry, otherwise they would join your liberal love fest.
Obama coverage on First Read is 100% snark-free... No hardhitting critique of liberal policies, allowed.
I thought the Washington Post was a Right leaning publication?
To be blame as racist and insensetive due to others past indiscretions is mind boggling. Where does cain get off by using the race card with perry they don't own the property they lease it. He must be a clone of oDUMBo. By the way blacks are always using the n word on themself thats how they communicate among there own.
