Christie gives no clues about presidential intentions

Asbury Park Press/AP

Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) didn't lead on Sunday as to whether he'd run for president as he reviewed the National Guard in a stop in Sea Girt, N.J.

SEA GIRT, N.J. -- On a bright, clear day along the Jersey Shore, Gov. Chris Christie seemed to enjoy reviewing the National Guard here, one of his duties as New Jersey's commander in chief, but shed no light on whether he planned to seek the role of the nation's top commander.

Instead, after pinning on medals and riding in the back of an open Humvee to review several units scattered across the parade grounds, he gave a five-minute, wholly apolitical speech, in which he thanked the service members and their families for the sacrifices they have endured, and told them it was an honor to serve with them.

He also pointed out the New Jersey guard's exemplary service during Hurricane Irene. Christie accepted two gifts from the Guard -- a statuette commemorating his leadership during Irene, and a howitzer shell.

Despite shouted questions from the media during his departure, Christie chose not to answer whether he was running for president.

He already said he can't run..... he isn't experienced enough and most of all he is "not interested"... Plus the tea party doesn't want him either ! I have to agree with him ....

I like Christie's handling of the New Jersey deficit, he actually took big bites out of union pensions and healthcare through negotiations with unions. It's his gift.

Christie's got a fun personality. Wouldn't it be a nice change to have a President that could humor us and get something done?

I am one that believes government costs need to contract in down-turn times in proportion to decreasing Revenue. For example, government pensions can drop a few percent for awhile until revenues go back up. This is what Christie has facilitated in New Jersey to balance New Jersey's budget.

The title of this article alone made me laugh out loud. What's with conservatives and date rape and not knowing that 'No' means No?

Sure, Christie is "fun" until he tells you to f**k off. scott-579755, you really need to learn more about Christie--how he conducts meetings (throwing people out), and all the traffic violations he doesn't pay because he is above the law, and what about the helicopter ride to his son's ball game?

Christie not only lacks experience, but he is not physically fit enough for the rigors of a presidential campaign, and along with Bachmann, he couldn't handle the job of POTUS--the most demanding job in the world. But most of all Christie lacks the temperament to be the leader of the free world, and at least he's smart enough to know it.

Christie gives no clues about presidential intentions

is the title of the article and ....

Despite shouted questions from the media during his departure, Christie chose not to answer whether he was running for president.

Is the meat of the story?

(Wow good job, Garrett. Great story sure to be the lead on all news broadcasts ..... NBC reports that Governor Christie chose not to announce his candiacy for President of the United States to shouting media ......)

And then TrueGenius responds .....

The title of this article alone made me laugh out loud. What's with conservatives and date rape and not knowing that 'No' means No?

Date rape? ...... ????/????

Sure, Christie is "fun" until he tells you to f**k off.

"date rape" .... "fun" until he tells you to .... what the ?????/????? ...
(somebody has some pathology working overtime.)

scott-579755, you really need to learn more about Christie--how he conducts meetings

Like Obama telling the Prime Minister to basically, as you say .... "F**k off and make him wait while Obama has dinner with Michelle?

and all the traffic violations he doesn't pay because he is above the law,

Does he create law in effect by executive fiat against the will of the people like Obama did with his EPA / Cap and Trade? Does he usurp Congress and the will of the people by executive fiat by in effect installing Dream Act immigration reform? Does he ignore his oath of office to enforce and defend the law by not defending DOMA? Does he ignore federal judges orders regarding moratoriums and their contempt orders?

and what about the helicopter ride to his son's ball game?

And how many helicopters and decoys did Obama use to fly to the 747 to take him and his dog less than 500 miles to get on more helicopters and decoys to get to Martha's Vineyard?

Christie not only lacks experience, but he is not physically fit enough

Christie has more experience than Obama who had NOT ONE SECOND OF EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE and whose greatest accomplishment was writing two books about himself.

Idiots may question if Christie may not be physically fit enough .... but Obama has demonstrated he is not fit to be President on every level.

LOL. Christie is more qualified than President Obama, even before Obama was president, but what about now? And then you go on to confuse the president with Boehner, a leader of the Party of Disrespect and No Civility. You lie!

LOL. Christie is more qualified than President Obama, even before Obama was president, but what about now?

Obama promised/projected that unemployment would not go above 8% if we spent almost a trillion and it would go to something like 9% if we did nothing. We spent the trillion and it went to 10.1%!

We spent the trillion and it exceeded Obama's own worst case scenario of if we had done nothing!

And you say Obama is qualified?

We now have 9% unemployment year after year .... the worst long term unemployment since the Great Depression. We have the highest number of Americans on food stamps in history, the greatest loss of home equity - even exceeding the Great Depression, highest deficit to GDP since WW II, the biggest debt in history, the first credit downgrade in history (that never even happened in the Great Depression or WW II spending of 40% of GDP)......

And now Obama wants more of the same stimulus! What does he want a BBB rating?

The guy does a budget that goes down 97-0 ..... NOT ONE VOTE .... and you think he is qualified?

The above proves he wasn't qualified.

And more importantly, the above disqualifies him from a second term.

Fortunately, most people that pay attention at all and have the functional brain capacity to fog a mirror realize it.

And then you go on to confuse the president with Boehner, a leader of the Party of Disrespect and No Civility. You lie!

Couldn't refute one thing so that is your rebuttal?

How childish and pathetic.

I just read Christie's bio...He is as crooked as anyone in politics has ever been. He even has distant ties to the mob. The man is law suit crazy and has been investigates so many times that it is a smokeless fire. He is a favor for favor politician and the worst example of someone that the Republicans should court for President. I couldn't believe what I was reading and you people should do some research on your own. Give more credit to Cain than to Christie. This was a real disappointment to me. I thought we might actually have a real candidate. The Repubs have lost all credibility in my mind and I am not an Obama supporter. Please, people, do your research rather than get so desperate that you will vote for anyone other than those that have already been offered up.

Elections have consequences Bob1805.......remember? Unlike Bush, Obama was E-L-E-C-T-E-D!

You are blaming the POTUS for using standard Presidential security measures? What? Think Bush didn't use decoys? You're naive. I'd think something was wrong with him if he didn't. There are millions of Bob1805's out there that would dearly love to see the POTUS assassinated.

For a guy who's not qualified I'd say Obama is doing OK to date. The POS he was handed when elected will never be the same, but at least Obama kept us from another Great Depression. That's more than McCain and Tootsie would have done. Face it.

I'd say Obama is doing OK to date.

Really? 9%+ unemployment. 12 million people unemployed. Telling the people they are just being "soft" and telling them to quit complaining? Complete partisan gridlock in Congress. Scandal and corruption. "The Republican's won't play with me" whining? Cronyism. Gitmo still functioning. Leading from behind. Woe is me, boo hoo mentality from the leader of the Free World? On the brink of a second recession. That's okay with you?

Yes, elections do have consequences. So sad the electorate was snookered by President Obama's promises.

And the E-L-E-C-T-E-D thing?......please.......really?

I don't happen to think Christie has a fun personality; he reminds me of the class bully, the class smart alec. When did rudeness and ridicule of constituents become a "fun personality".

As for experience, too much is made of that word. We've had bad presidents who had experience (Bush 43 for one) and good presidents with brains and not as much experience. The problem for Christie is his own words repeated over the last two years and available on video: I'm not ready to be president, don't have the experience yet; I don't have the desire to be president; it's not in my heart right now. His own words are his problem.

Instead of regurgitating the fact some fat dude from jersey still is not running for president why don't you post something about the protesters on wall street, I sincerely hope their numbers grow to the point it is very painful for the robber barons occupying that retched tumor on this country. Rumor has it that goldman sachs is really pissed Obama refused to launch a small tactical nuclear strike on the protesters, now they are demanding at least some cluster bomb carrying drone be sent in to "stabilize" the situation. At least wall street owns the press which has remained loyal to them by limiting their coverage of the protests to the defense of the police beating people, hell most Americans don't even know about the protests, job well done news media, checks in the mail. I hope the protests swallow up the entire putrid beltway and rid this country of the soulless greed driven, treasonous lot that has this country on its knees, and then we can have real recovery, a recovery for the people, a recovery that will come eventually despite the best efforts of the robber barons of the beltway , the politicians, and the media. Suck it.

w bush, the lack of interest by the media on the occupywallst.com is astonishing, this movement is growing whether the right wing like it or not. These are peaceful protests, unless the nypd choose to make it otherwise. Mayor Bloomberg is not a happy camper having these demonstrators there in the heart of the city where his buddies and himself have made their billions and continue to do so.

If the investigation of the nypd for pepper spraying two young defenseless girls is conducted with honesty and integrity, it may show that the mayor gave an earful to Ray Kelly to have his officers remove the demonstrators as they offend the sensibilities of the Wall St barons. Too bad, this movement is not going away any time soon, whether the media covers it or not, by not doing so they are a the "lamestream" media.

Go to the OccupyTogether website to find the date and location of a rally in your city. http://www.occupytogether.org/ -- People are organizing events even in small towns across the nation with hundreds even thousands attending.

Here's a good story -- At the most recent rally in NY 700 arrests were made. How many arrests were made at Teabag protests? And why? The World Is Watching.

Bob, Mike, Y'all want to read up a little more on the background of the President before you make such sweeping statements as you have. President Obama was a legislator in the Illinois State Legislature for several years before he ran for the Senate, in addition he was a Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago as the following gives the details:

The following is a statement from the Law School concerning Obama’s teaching load and titles:

UC Law School statement: The Law School has received many media requests about Barack Obama, especially about his status as “Senior Lecturer”. From 1992 until his election to the United States Senate in 2004, Barack Obama served as a professor in the Law School. He was a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996. He was a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004 during which time he taught three courses per year. Senior Lecturers are considered to be members of the Law School faculty and are regarded as Professors although not considered full-time or tenure-track. The title of Senior Lecturer is distinct from the title of Lecturer, which signals adjunct status. Like Obama, each of the Law School’s Senior Lecturers has high-demand careers in politics or public service, which prevent full-time teaching. Several times in his 12 years as a Professor in the Law School, Obama was invited to join the faculty in a fulltime tenure-track position, but he declined.

He is not and never was a clueless individual...far from it. You might see that when you look at yourselves in the mirror, but then ask yourselves this, am I being honest in making such statements? Disagree on policies, those are fair game, but don't diminish his personal accomplishments as it diminishes your arguments and says more about you and how small minded you are.

G.M., without some serious help from his mentor Harry Reid, we wouldn't be having this conversation. He was a poor legislator and especially Senator... devoting most of his time to prep for the Presidential run. Perhaps we can soon send him back to teaching liberalism/socialism to young libbies, and keep his nose out national politics!

GM -- These conservatives are low-information voters. What else could you expect? But the real problem is they have been corrected time and again in this forum -- for example how President Obama's life accomplishments are impressive and go far beyond "community organizer." At least miked knows about the president being a professor of law and time spent in congress. But he could learn more about socialism, and who should keep their nose out of national politics (e.g., preaching politics from the pulpit).

These ditto heads will be back here next week making the same unfounded claims. They live in their FAUX Noise/Hate Radio echo chamber and cone of silence -- And swooping and pooping is easier than contributing something of substance.

I don't know who may read it and think it true, and I feel it would be remiss of me to let that happen. They are low information on everything, listening to sound bites that suit their prejudices and fit their mindset.

I smile at the above post from Miked, teaching as a Constitutional Lawyer at the University of Chicago, is not teaching liberalism/socialism (whatever that may be), at what many consider a rather conservative (small c) institute of learning, and I suppose he also means, he should know his place. Oh my, what does that smack of???

G. Mamma, Yes Obama is a magnificent Constitutional Lawyer, but a very poor president and leader, certainly not qualified for that position! And he's arguably the most anti-business President we've had since Jimmy Carter (how'd that one work out) and surrounded himself with dozens of Czars that don't need Senate approval and are also anti-business! The results are two recessions, or like the liberal media want to think, one recession that 'is stuttering'!

I'm curious that such an expert in Constitutional Law should have recognized the uproar of his nationalized Obamacare, eh? Doesn't the Constitution forbid the Federal Government from forcing U.S. citizens from paying for something they don't want? And what about his suit (along with Mexico) against Arizona for their recently passed Immigration law? There may be a Constitutional issues there as well..... the list goes on.

Let him teach Constitutional Law again and soon!

miked -- You can have your own opinion but not your own facts.

First is the claim that president Obama is anti-business -- That's a great big lie that you cannot provide evidence for. In fact the president has been just as pro-business as Republicans. Second, the term Czars only exists in the media world, which started with Dubya. "Obamacare" is merely insurance regulation, but the president has requested the constitutionality be reviewed by the SCOTUS early.

Political Science is the most popular undergraduate degree for lawyers, because the law and public policy are so interrelated. That some would prefer a hockey mom or someone they could have a beer with over someone with a "professorial" style is even more silly. The GOP/TP candidates only WISH they could teach law, but instead they will hope to become FOX staff, sell books, and go on speaking tours.

Can we imagine someone so rude and quick on the draw to have his finger on the nuclear button? Can we say WWIII? If he needs to take a helicoptor to his child's sports game, and then once there a limo to take him to his seat, he obviously does not have the stamina to be president (not to mention the waste of taxpayers $$)! I totally agree--this man is NOT presidential or world leader material! People need to do their research instead of being lazy and listening to sound bites!

It was a dark and stormy night in the mansion. We were sitting around the board. It was Garrett Haake's turn and we all listened intently as he made his move.

"It was Mr. Green, in the billiard room, with the knife." He glanced at me, and I down at my cards. I had no counter evidence. Then he looked over to Chris Christie. "You have anything to say, Governor?" he asked, smelling victory. Or maybe Old Spice.

"Yeah," Chris responded. "How's this?" he asked as he slammed down his hand. Scrawled on the face of each card in magic marker were the words, "I'm not running! How much clearer can I make the word 'No' to you? Seriously, even the people in my own state wouldn't vote for me again."

"So..." said Haake, pausing to ponder the situation, "can we take that as a maybe, then?"
