As always, many thanks to our hard working hosts/moderators; Mark, Domenico & Ali for keeping us political junkies up to date! Much appreciated! ;o)
Oh well - no The Week Ahead, we'll just have to get the party started over at the Dew Drop Inn without it!
As I mentioned yesterday, after my question was selected for the Boiler Room segment, the first round is on me!
We've had many liberal ladies birthdays over the past two weeks so in their honor I raise my glass in a toast to Clara, KC - Jody, IA & NewdayDawning... Returned!
Buzz - will you fire up the old jukebox? Let's get this party started!
Well it’s coming up on that time of the week. I don’t know about you’ll folks but I’m about wore out. But as usual we’ve all had a good time. Giggled a little at each other. Tweaked each other a mite. Had to rub on a bruise or two. Don’t look like no permanent harm has befallen anybody. So before I slide on out the door down to the Dew Drop Inn to make sure the Juke Box has gotten refilled with all the latest requests and we’ve got that extra bartender to make sure that everybody gets their favorites just right I want to pass on a thought or three.
First off Happy Birthday to Jody and Newday two of my most favorite ladies (hope Betty don’t get jealous). Drinks are on the house and word has it that all kinds of cake and other assorted goodies are going to appear at the Dew Drop Inn this evening. Since we haven’t had TWA for a couple of weeks we had to put all the Goodies in the Walk –in-Cooler and save them. This week we’re going to add Miss Clara to the birthday list and share some of those special dishes that the Ladies of F.R. have come up with. Happy Birthday to my K.C. Ace. “Who loves you baby.” Live like there’s no tomorrow Ladies
So War has been declared.
Good and About Time.
I’ve got a confession to make. I’ve been a Terrorist. That’s right I’ve been a Guerilla for Thirty Years in the Cold War that started with Reagan that the Yahoo’s have been waging on the Middle Class.
So today I can come out of the closet and join the Regular Army. Be Loud and Proud in serving the Forces of Truth, Justice and the American way. ‘Cause I’ve still got faith in the American People. Truth will win out over Lies, Distortions and Innuendo. Not every time but often enough to keep us going.
So tonight down at the Dew Drop Inn Floyd and Betty are hosting a Coming Out Party for all of you’ll Culture Warriors that have been underground all these years and all you new recruits to the forces of Truth. White Freedom Lightin’ for all you guys, Libertitines for you ladies and beer for all your horses. If we’re going to declare war then take no prisoners.
As always my thanks and appreciation to our hosts for their time, giving me a little place to stand, a subject to comment on, a forum to put it in, and their indulgence when I don’t quite get it right or get a little off subject. I purely do appreciate it. Hope you’ll have a fine weekend and good fun among folks that you know and love. To my fellow participants keep well, keep safe, and keep the faith. We’ll make it. See you’ll next week
Buzzy how’s about starting us off with D-15 “Working Man’s Blues “by Mr. Merle Haggard and we’ll fire this bottle rocket off.
Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.
IR, nice way to end the week; nothing finer than some Mark Twain humor. Let's get this DDI party started; D-15 is perfect on the old jukebox. I hear the POTUS sent over a batch of his "mean chili" and some of the DDI regulars are planning a cookoff.
Thanks to our hosts, Mark, Domenico, and all the FR crew for another fine week of topics to keep us informed and give us something to praise or complain about.
And some of that special Cranberry Juice that makes about half the Patrons look like Robert Redford for my ace Miss Jody. Happy Birthday belated. Some 4 alarm chili sounds real good. Supposed to get cold and damp in the East this weekend.
Thanks for the first round at DDI Feisty!!! there is a chill in the night air here in MN, so done with the summer drinks.
I will have a Scotch with splash of water on the rocks.
For some good humor and great analysis of presidents listen to the audio of Mark Shields, speaker at the 5th annual Eugene McCathy lecture given this week at St. John's University, Collegeville MN
Wow, that "good, clean political comedy" is hard to find! But as a big Joe Biden fan, I think he'd be among the first to laugh at this one:
"Man, America's credit rating took a real hit this weekend. On Friday night, the U.S. actually lost its AAA status. Or as Joe Biden put it, 'What happens if I get a flat tire?'" —Jimmy Fallon
Did somebody mention a chili cookoff? Put me down for my favorite Pepperoni Pizza Chili - Italian sausage and (duh) pepperoni instead of ground beef, Italian seasoning instead of Mexican, and lots of shredded mozzarella melted on top. Garlic bread on the side and some cheap red wine. Yummm.
And if the DDI jukebox is cranked up, I've got a special dedication to those big GOP donors still waiting to decide who to buy - Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out For A Hero":
"I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light He's gotta be sure And it's gotta be soon And he's gotta be larger than life far to the right...."
And with apologies to my President, I've had a really long week, so I'm putting my bedroom slippers ON tonight. Have a good weekend everyone!
Joanne in PA ,Now that is a recipe I really want My mouth is watering...Bring it to the DDI
Like your joke.
Here is one Mark Shields told in his speech (see my post above): Shields was part of the press corp covering Ronald Regan who was to speak at Claremont college. Regan had said that "Trees kill more people than emissions from cars" As they were walking across campus, there was a large sign hanging from a tree. It said" Cut me down, before I kill again" Even Regan had a good laugh at that one.
Some funny things this week -- Leno's joke on Trumps hair jumping Romney's leg.....and of course the SNL skit on the latest GOP debate...pretty funny stuff if you can find video! Have a great weekend all! Cheers!
Hey y'all--thank you for a great week and wrapup! Happy birthday to all the birthday kids! We sure did have some funny stuff this week--truth is stranger than fiction. You just can't make this stuff up! Have a great weekend all--back Monday morning to start again!
Although it won't qualify for TWA's comedy, I so enjoyed Jon Stewart's painting Bill O'Reilly into a corner about his tax comment! O'Reilly was just way out of his league.
Hey, IR: always enjoy your wrap up.! What oh what have we learned this week? We learned that our President is serious about fighting terrorists. Good for all involved in that mission! I have to say that I would hate to have our military after me, those folks are seriously good at what they do! What else have I learned? Sometimes reaching out in friendship is the right course. I enjoyed reading posts this week from the right that were purely peaceful. We all need that, it can get downright nasty some days, and maybe we will see more of that. So, Bohemian Rhapsody, Bob, yes, you too no jo and theotas, I did enjoy my conversations with you and will be proposing a toast at the dear old Dew Drop.
Feisty: I have been tramping around in the Northwoods here, and the foliage is simply breathtaking! So many colors, it is hard to describe! Sey decided to take a swim in a lake, so he is collapsed at my feet, Jolie, the dainty princess thinking that he should know better than to get that dirty! But, I am ready for food and party, and IR, I hope those chandeliers hold. This will be one for the books.
My thanks to our hosts for keeping us educated on the world affairs, it has been a stellar week. See you all at the Dew Drop Inn.
I'm sure that the room we keep for the folks that aren't there will be raiseing a glass to a a Drone Operator with a hair trigger. Another one bites the dust. Hey Buzz hows about playing that one..........Seriously Newday happy belated Birthday and so happy that you decided to rejoin us. You're one of the folks that make this place special
I'm ready to party. There is nothing better than celebrating Happy Birthdays with 3 of my best girlfriends Clara, Jody, & NewdayDawning... Returned, and a kick azz President to top the weekend off.
Dayum does it have to be clean? lol

Hey, soul sistah, ain't that mister mister on the radio, stereo,...
and like a Train,...the Republican candidates come and go.
at any rate,...thanks for the Birthday shout. It's been a GREAT week.
I am entering my Fowl Play chili in the cookoff, shredded chicken and ground turkey,...so AWESOME!
Also, want to send a shout to Floyd for fixing up the Come Back,...think it's gonna' hold now.
Thanks to Mark, Dom and Ali for keeping us up to our eyeballs with good stories to comment on. Hey, Dom, is the little one two years old, yet?
Happy October, just around the bend.

Aw, I due so miss my Doc Martin's.
Back in the day Ms.Spanky had Knee high patent leather Doc Martin's that were the coolest. And they were red.
Man, she really was a militant libbie back then.
Funny stuff.
There is a snarky comment about slippers floating around, but the Smirnoff is taking care of that. Or maybe it just seems LESS important right now.
Ahhh, who doesn't love Friday?
And some of that special Cranberry Juice that makes about half the Patrons look like Robert Redford for my ace Miss Jody. Happy Birthday belated. Some 4 alarm chili sounds real good. Supposed to get cold and damp in the East this weekend.
You forgot George Clooney... Floyd... ;o)
It's already been cold & damp here for a week - feels more like the end of October then September. ;o(
Spanky-
