“I’m not running against any of my friends, they’re all good people," Gingrich said at a breakfast at the Best Western here. "But if you watch them and watch me, the difference in the depth of knowledge and the difference in the ability to debate Obama, the difference in actually having done it at the national level, I can’t only think if you’re worried about the future of the country and you’re worried about how we get the country fixed, I’m a pretty good mechanic who knows how to fix the car and the other folks are good at selling it.
"They’re nice people, but they don’t have the knowledge to do something like this on this scale. This is enormously complicated.”
A day after Gingrich unveiled his 10-point new “Contract with America,” he again went point-by-point on his plan -- and again apologized for taking so long to describe it, but “it took so long to put together,” he said.
Gingrich also claimed that he has been studying how to make the U.S. better since he was a freshman or sophomore in high school.
Speaking about Social Security, Gingrich said he wants Americans to have the option of choosing their own, private Social Security account.
“Grandchildren should have right to choose Social Security account they control, it has to be there, we’re going to do a commercial showing President Obama in July saying twice you’re not going to get your social security check," Gingrich said. "Send it to college campuses and say do you want to spend the next 50 years of your life working and paying taxes supposedly building up for retirement when any politician can be this irresponsible? Or would you rather have an account you control so a politician can’t do that do your money. … I’m not going to force them into this system, they have the option, very few people will stay in it if they’re 25 or 30, and think it won’t be there. … If you have this account we don’t have a set date when you have to retire. Fact is, if you have this account and you control it and want to work until you are 85, fine. If you want to retire at 50, fine. What do we care? It’s your life, it’s your money.
Gingrich also pointed to the black community as being most disadvantaged with the current Social Security system. “Sadly most African Americans are the most disadvantaged because they die the youngest so they pay their whole lifetime and it transfers to somebody else because it’s not an estate.”
Speaking about fraud in the federal government, Gingrich said Visa, MasterCard and American Express do a better job preventing fraud than the U.S. government. And claimed as President, he would have the borders controlled by January 1, 2014.

You tell them Newt. They should have been investing their SS money themself without the Government holding it for them. That way it would have increase in value just like everyone's 401K has and we wouldn't care about the economy because everyone would be retired. Hey Newt, if they don't like it let's shut the Government down - you in again?

This just proves the arrogance & stupidity of some of these Repub candidates ... if EVER there was a definition for a washed-up politician, Newt's picture would be with it. Newt is like a 40 year old quarterback in the NFL ... way outlived his usefulness as a player. With Newt, it definitely IS all about MONEY. Newt became famous because, once every 15 or so years, Democrats become complacent in their jobs, and the voters have to wake 'em back up ... the 2010 elections was one of those times, as with Newt back in the 90's.
He should call Christie and both join a gym ... get out of everyone's hair ... maybe explain to Christie how he can make money "writing a stupid book" of his memoirs.
Alright Newt, I believe you. Now I need you to prove it by taking the Republican Candidate Aptitude Test (RCAT). You must take all three sections, a composition on fiscal and social management (the written) is required, then a basic math section showing how you would payback money already spent (math), and finally a reading comprehension section showing that you understand the issues at hand (reading). The test will be evaluated by your future constituents and your results mailed to you. A score of 1800 is considered above average, as each section is worth 800 points. If you score 1800 or above you will then be mailed an application to enter into the candidate race.

I don't think that being "smarter" than a pack of dummies is anything to brag about.
Hmmm... If Newty thinks or believes that he is smarter than the others in the Republican gaggle of POTUS wannabes; then, surely, Newty must realize his chances of actually getting elected POTUS are the exact same as him becoming the next Pope, or the next Czar of Russia, or The Grand Vizier of Boogaboogistan. Newty needs to return to the shadows and go back under his rock.
Newt hasn't been paying attention. Since when is intelligence an asset for a Republican candidate?
I hate to be the one to break the news to you Mr. Gingrich. But most in your party would like you to just go away.

Problem is Newt. The GOP and most of the rest of America has lost interest in you. As in a long, long time ago.
He's a moralizing amoral old troll with a lot of ideas, most of them bad, and a lot of hot air.

So Gingrich says he's smarter than the others. This man is nothing if not arrogant and pompous. The usual problem with guys like Newt, is they'll never learn that their mouth is much larger than their brain. And as a result most don't care what ego's like Mr. Gingrich have to say. About anything.
Newt probably is smarter than the other republican candidates. And, this is probably the reason he is not doing well with conservatives.
Intelligence is usually not a good sell with conservatives, particularly religious conservatives. Of course, with them you don't NEED intelligence. All you have to is yak it up about god or say you were born agin and you could be a poisonous bat-snake from planet Orkon and they'd vote for you!
To say that one is smarter than other presidential candidates is a not very wise thing to do. Just one erroneous statement made in public can be his undoing. Even the past can arise to bite him if it is studied closely by the competition.

You know, with the exception of Huntsman, he's probably right. The GOP doesn't have a lot of intellectual fire power.
He thinks he is , but he is about like Perry and the rest of them-0, more of the same. Ron Paul is about the only one that thinks , makes any sense. The rest are just open pockets to be filled with oligarch's money and move whichever way the wing blows.
Intelligence and the Presidency don't always go hand in hand. Look at the record...
Considering the current field of Republican candidates they all show an absolute lack of intelligence; therefore any idiot, even an idiot like Gingrich is smarter! I doubt the sum total of all the candidate's IQs reaches 100.

Failure to see this means you have blinders on! The 112th Congress is barely functioning today because the Troubled Economic Antagonist(TEA) have made great inroads into local, state and national politics. Failure to see this means you have blinders on! Incumbency rules in today's "Career Politician" era and "Gerrymandering" is the root cause, as no one pays attention to race or proportionality. One aspect to consider would be to elect the president by popular vote without the Electoral College! close down the Congress as we know it now and allow each state to have one Senator and one Representative for each state to hold office only once for four years and with none of the current privileges they currently have voted themselves.
