The White House is still answering questions about the president's somewhat controversial remarks at a Congressional Black Caucus dinner this weekend.
"I'm going to press on for the sake of all those families who are struggling right now," the president said before black lawmakers and guests on Saturday. "I don’t have time to feel sorry for myself. I don’t have time to complain. I am going to press on. I expect all of you to march with me and press on. Take off your bedroom slippers, put on your marching shoes. Shake it off. Stop complaining, stop grumbling, stop crying. We are going to press on. We’ve got work to do, CBC."
It was meant to be a rallying cry near the end of his remarks, but the comment has become a flashpoint with lawmakers like Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA). "I'm not sure who the president was addressing," Waters told CBS on Monday. "I found that language a bit curious because the President spoke to the Hispanic caucus and certainly they're pushing him on immigration...He certainly didn't tell them to stop complaining and he would never say that to the gay and lesbian community who really pushed him on "don't ask, don't tell."
However, today, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney pointed out the president has used this language before.
Indeed, he's correct.
Two weeks ago, promoting his jobs plan at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C., the President said:
"We’re bigger than the politics we’ve been putting up with. We’re patriots and pioneers and innovators and entrepreneurs. Through individual effort, but also through a commitment to one another, we have built an economy that is the engine and the envy of the world. We’re not going to stop now. The time for hand-wringing is over. The time for moping around -- we’ve got to kick off our bedroom slippers and put on our marching shoes. We’ve got to get to work."
It was a line that also came near the end of that speech and induced applause in both crowds.
"I think there are individuals in every community who -- who might be unhappy with a political leader," Carney added.
In public, there doesn't seem to be a consensus among black lawmakers about what the president, who still enjoys strong approval ratings among black voters, meant. And based on interviews from MSNBC this week, black leaders had unique interpretations of the president's words.
"In the passion of the moment, he talked about the complaining that he's hearing around the country inside the party," Chairman of the CBC Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) said. "And he's saying that that's not helpful. Join in. We need all of the members of this coalition working together, so that we can successfully deal with reelection."
And Rep. Donna Edwards (D-MD), when asked about her reaction, said, "I was like most of the crowd there, incredibly enthusiastic by the president, the fighting spirit the president was showing. I actually went in to talk to a group of seniors the following day. And when I said to them, it's time for us to stop complaining and to press on, they lit up the room just like the room in the Congressional Black Caucus. I think the President is right on message."

"Drops his 'g's"?
Jeesus- none of you been listenin' to Perry? Didn't listen much to Palin, either?
BFD, folks. Beee Efff Deee.
You want to know what's bizarre about the whole thing?
The ONLY ones complaining are those who weren't on attendance!
If you watch the video - there's an awful lot of cheering & applause!
I'll chalk this up to another Obama nontroversy!
Buzz, shake it off, stop complainin, stop grumblin, stop cryin.
Also, be sure to take off your bedroom shoes, and put on your marching slippers. Wait . . . , that doesn't seem right.
And above all else, be sure to press on.
He did it on purpose, to sound "down" with the cause.
Funny thing is this seems to be rather the opposite of what Reid said way back about his speech and skin color.
Now what was that qoute?
It was really funny. Totally racist, but funny as hell.
ButDrive By is correct - so what.
But what has the CBC done about jobs?
Reid gets it - he buried the jobs bill because he knows it is a loser for all those dem senators up for election.
So Libbies why would Obama's jobs bill be bad for dem senators?
"He did it on purpose, to sound "down" with the cause."
Yep. I know we are not suppose to bring him up much anymore, but Bush used to do this with HIS audiences, too. You know- Sound dumb on purpose. He knew his audiences pretty well, and all.
Smiff- forget marchin' shoes. I'm a barefootin' guy. (sorry, Bobby Parker)
Where's Maxine Waters poutrage on this?
Piers Morgan interviewing Dionne Warwick last night on CNN -
Had I been Dionne, I would of asked - intelligent?
As opposed to WHAT Piers?
This is what's passing for MSM these days?
Oh don't be getting all sensitive on me Drive By.
Not supposed to bring Obama up? He is still the President, no?
Oh and you might not know this, but Bush has been gone for about 3 years now.
Tell you what big guy - head on over to CBS.com and read what Biden has to say about who owns and is responsible for the economy.
I don't suppose you recall Biden's quote about Obama's ability to speak? It was a doozy, even for Joe. Man I am going to miss that guy come 2012.
So you're calling the CBC "dumb" Buzz?
Buzz has one of those 'shovel ready' jobs, and he just keeps digging. The guy is like a freaking badger.
No, dumb-ass, I'm not calling anyone other than Bush's audiences 'dumb'. And, of course, folks that are short on reading comprehension like yourself, Peaches.
Say- whatta ya got against badgers, anyway. They're pretty mean critters, acutally. Unless you mean Wisconsin fans. They're pretty decent critters I've heard.
I think.
Yeah I saw that JAS1, but didn't want to call Drive By on it.
Man what a racist.
Nice attempt at spin Drive By, but what did you mean by "...used to do with his audiences, too"?
"Not supposed to bring Obama up?"
Jesus Christ, anyone got a reading comprehension book I can send a couple of posters today?
I'll gladly pay you back Tuesday....
"Yeah I saw that JAS1, but didn't want to call Drive By on it."
Wow. Birds of a feather.
The funniest part of Obama's speech two weeks ago is actually .....
Patriot?
He doesn't know that patriotism is a love and defense of country, not going around the world trying to suck up to everybody by apologizing for America?
It would be pretty cool if he created jobs in the America with our money instead of China, Spain, Finland, UK, Brazil, Columbia ......
Pioneer?
Yea, tell that to all the NASA employees he laid off.
Innovators?
Like the wind turbine ..... that was invented in 1896?
Entrepreneurs?
Yet today, kids literally can't even start a lemonade stand due to government regulations.
So what has Buzz taught us all today: That Bush talking dumb was because his audience was dumb, and Obama talking dumb is because he's just dumb?
Maybe we should just stop badgering Buzz.
And Buzz teaching us something. Who am I kidding.
"As opposed to WHAT Piers?"
Maybe Piers should book some smart folks, instead of simply intelligent ones.
Or, maybe that would take him out of his element.
Ah look Drive by done caught with his own words.
That's your response Drive By. Huh. I was thinking you'd go with a simple apology.
Your words are very clear and totally racist.
Again YOUR words big Boy. Bad racist Drive By.
"Ah look Drive by done caught with his own words."
WHAT the hell are you TALKING about?
Christ on a crutch- and YOU read and comprehend LAW books? Suuuuure you do.
I kept hearing all the media spin on how the president attacked the black base, and then saw the full video of his speech--it was nothing of the sort. The president gave a pre-game pep talk aimed at his entire base, telling them to put their marching boots on, to stand up and fight. The cheers from the audience confirms this. Stop with the nonsense, please.
DBO -- Perhaps you could help with the punk speak dictionary:
Employer = tax accountants, paralegal/administrative assistants employed by the company, not Spanky
Gold Investment = going to the dentist
RV and Boat – a van down by the river and an inner tube
Mover and Shaker – The misses threatening to leave if he doesn’t get to work
I'm sure there's more...but feeding the troll is like feeding stray animals...
Hey Buzz, what about Hillary, can she get away with this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egJ8NtvVFs8
Search words: Hillary talking black
Keep digging Drive By.
Yet I note that you have failed to address you use of the word "too."
You very clearly compared Obama to Bush - stalked down to his audiences, just as Obama, in this particular case was talking to the CBC. Distgusting Drive By - you really ought to be ashamed.
Man Drive By I knew you hate the gays [all those references to people you don't like as being gay, as if there is something wrong with being gay] but this blatant racism?
Not good Drive By, not good at all.
"So what has Buzz taught us all today:"
That you are a complete fraud? No, can't take credit for that- that was you that was wearing the teacher hat today.
Never mind. Say, I have an idea- suppose you log on again tomorrow, and tell us how bad Obama is.
That'd be pretty novel.
The President is in a tough spot with nearly 50% of black males age 18-25 unemployed and black unemployment in general at over 17%. These numbers are up more than 50% since the President went into office which is exactly opposite what black voters hoped for in 2008.
The President is frustrated too, and hopes for all his voters to find work in time for the next election. He's trying to get the constituency fired up. It's fair for him to be Rally Leader in Chief. Critics including black people should support our President in any and all efforts to improve employment of all people.
This guy should have been around in Boston for the Big Dig. Would have saved the country millions.
Let us know if you hit oil Buzz, the EPA will slap a cease and desist order on you in about a nanosecond.
Spanky, you ever get bored playing the FR canker sore every day?
...adequacy and mediocrity "counselor"...try not being such a douchebag all the time...we know you can't stop being one completely, but c'mon...give everyone a break once in a while.
I love Drive By - he never knows when to stop.
Except come quittin' Time then it's keyboard down, HELLO Hannity.
Eh, bad week for buzz, (so called cause that's the noise the blackberry makes).
Yesterday, did not know that Fisker Automotive was a, well, car company. Thought I was talking about Fiskar, the scissors people.
Tried to pass it off as "sarcasm".
Today, accuse Obama of doing what, well, Obama was doing- talking down to his audience.
Guess ol' dbo is one of the 45% of u enthusiastic democrats- or, maybe, one if the 44% who are- but is really miffed at the other bunch.
Whatever. . .
American is generous. The poor can get subsidies designed to help them get by in hard times till they get their ducks in a row. I heard a report that at this time 47% of Americans are getting partial or full food stamps, for example.
There are many backstop examples in America, to our great credit. In my school district, as an example, every single student in K12 is eligible for the Federal school lunch assistance subsidy and at least get a nutrituional lunch when they attend.
The simple fact is that every individual has ownly him/her self to count on to pull up and out of a bad situation, it is folly to wait for government to take care of it, though the government will try as it can to provide temporary help.
TP
Just like Obama .... you guys don't have a clue.
The "game" is not about them getting Obama a job ..... it's about Americans like them getting jobs.
Obama's job is to help them get jobs ..... not campaighn for re-election.
And he gets frustrated when they look back at him with the WTF expression?
bob-1805084 -- You wouldn't know a "patriot" or an "apologist" any more than you know what the "game" is about. (Aside from getting bin Laden) President Obama has provided a very good jobs plan and deficit reduction plan, which he is trying to get passed. Contact your Do Nothing obstructionist Teapubican representatives and and ask THEM about jobs.
Maybe journalists, and MSNBC should speak to others who attended the Black Caucus, such as Elijah Cummings who has said he liked the speech, who saw no reason to criticize. Oh, but then that would not keep this noncontrovery storyline stirred. The question every reporter and news outlet, and democratic legislator should be asking is if they are holding President Obama to a higher standard than any previous president. It seems they are because they certainly push storylines to make people think there is a rift where there is none.
Professor Melissa Harris-Perry explained it, in detail, to Salon's Joan Walsh.
1.) We aren't friends...whatever you may have imagined.
2.) If you criticize President Obama, you are a racist. Whether you're a liberal who voted for President Obama in 2008, but are disappointed with his leadership;
Or, you're a conservative, philosophically inclined to oppose President Obama's agenda.
It doesn't matter.
Criticize President Obama, and you'll be tagged with the racist label.
Tea Partier, or white "liberal electoral" racist.
Again...it just doesn't matter.
It's that simple, really.
The Queen of FR says I'll chalk this up to another Obama nontroversy! ooh is that an accusation that Shawna's MSNBC story is making a mountain out of a mole hill or could it be true that the sweet representative from California is telling Obama to go to hell. I think Maxine is a racist for questioning this President who was born from the womb of a caucasian woman
Bob Jones, quite a screen name, you should be proud of it because it suits you, you sound as prejudiced as the folks running that university. The Queen of FR? Well, who knew.
Oh, and telling kids in some school in New Jersey to 'keep at it', be persitent', etc ect- why no complaints about that (from the left, I mean... the other side had a fit over it)
C'mon, Maxine.
Looks like Michelle is getting the jump on some Christmas, ehh, Holiday shopping for her man:
http://news.yahoo.com/first-lady-not-secret-2012-campaign-weapon-172727849.html
Obama wants to see personal initiative help turn this economy around.
It's not a stretch to subtly call attention to that.
I don't think he signed on to be a 'one man band'.
At least the 'Occupy Wall Street' activists know that.
They're all backing away from Obama, finally realized that inexperience is no excuse no matter what race you are. This all reminds me of a story I heard, perhaps you've heard it too:
A rancher and his friend were discussion politics. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his role as our president. The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Obama is a 'Post Turtle''. Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him, what a 'post turtle' was.
The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle'.
The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. "You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, he's elevated beyond his ability to function, and you just Wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with."
A tough lesson for a lot of us
That's classic.
Good one Mark.
Inexperience is the right's code-word for "never-been-a-slavetrader". When they say that he's never run a business, or had to make payroll, it is much the same thing. First we, as a culture, enslaved black men for centuries, then we told them they were free , but denied them the same opportunities which we reserved for whites for nine more decades...........and then we call them inexperienced.
That is totally it Paul. Well done.
Nice way to highlight you have totally lost the argument and have no legitimate response to Obama's failures.
Except that he wasn't a slave trader.
Too good, my man, too good.
They're not backing away from President Obama. They are pushing him to do things in 3 years that none of them have tried to do- ever.
It's worth asking - why look the other way when Reagan, Clinton and GWB did what they did, yet our first African American President gets all the heat. Gets all the blame. From everyone.
What I see is a society as a whole just looking the other way since 1981 for the most part. Clinton did many many things that hurt the working class, the poor, the minorities. We all know Reagan did as well. GWB? Forget.
President Obama is carrying the burdens of all those who looked the other way for years.
And we're all guilty for not stopping the madness. All of us.
President Obama didn't create it.
We all know that. Many won't admit it, but it's a fact.
Oh yeah they are backing away fast and lining up behind who, Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, Mitt Romney, ha good luck with that, they will back right in the voting booth and vote for Obama again, if that is all republicans have to offer them. The only thing they are pissed at Obama for is that he did not get into republicans faces a long time ago, if he goes down swinging they will go right with him and so will I and so will millions of working class people of all ages who feel they have been abandoned altogether by republicans.
Yeah Pat, all cause he's a black man.
The fact that he's a stuttering cluster of a miserable failure is totally irrelevant.
Sure Pat, please continue to tell yourself whatever you need to hear, as ridiculous as on friend Paul.
Slave traders now, eh gang? Man is this gonna get good.
This is what experience will get you:
Think Progress:
Faced with a $15 billion budget deficit this year, Texas Gov. Rick Perry signed off on $4 billion in cuts to education in the 2012 and 2013 budgets. The Texas State Teachers Association estimates that as many as 49,000 teachers may be laid off as a result of the cuts and 43,000 college students will lose all or part of their financial aid.
_______________________
And everybody (the experienced ones) thought going into Iraq was such a good idea. The no cost war.
President Obama didn't think it was a good idea. The "inexperienced" one.
C'Mon, Spank. Every body enjoys a drunk, no body enjoys a mean drunk.
You are likely right Forrest, but facts are facts, and black unemployment is ridiculous.
Has Obama done anything to address? How about to address young people unemployment?
Hard to get motivated to vote when you are out of a job.
Oh and Pat - when yo are broke/have a deficit you have to make cuts.
And Obama thinks Iraq is a good idea - good enough to keep dumping $$$down that and the Afghanistan rat holes.
Man you are not very good at making points Pat.
Holy hell Drive By - you calling Pat a drunk now?
You racist comments about the CBC were not enough?
Might be tim to call it a day my man. This is not getting any better for you today. :(
It matters not Spanky, in the land of the blind, a one eyed man is King. Nobody has to think he is the best ever, he just has to be seen as better than the alternative, Americans are used to voting for the lesser of two evils, and republicans have not done enough to help themselves in that regard. People may hold their nose, I grant you that, but they will vote for him if republicans don't give them a reason to vote republican. Welcome to Waterloo, republicans had a chance to sweep the whole nine yards, but they just would not allow it, and Obama will likely be the president for four more years if they don't do something quick.
Ah but Forrest my friend even the one eyed man knows when he is unemployed and hungry.
The evil of which you speak is not the Republicans, at least not for this cycle - its the economy, and Forrest it is very wicked and evil.
To qoute a very smart man: "it's the economy stupid."
Which means ABO.
Pat??
The CBC???
Spanky's complety in the bag. Otis Campbell 's got nothing on this incoherent fool today.
Spanky. I was ALSO really confused by Obama's speech to the CBC. Harriy Reid DID tell us that Obama didn't speak with a "Negro dialect", right? Those are Reid's words, not mine folks. So why would he do that when speaking there? Probably for the same reason that most Dem pols do that. Remember Hilary's speech about "Ahhh ain't no ways tired." That was hilarious.
What's strange is that they only do it in front of black audiences. I want to see these liberal pols be consistent with it. The next time Obama speaks in fron of some gay grievance group, I wanna hear..
"I thtand here thith day ath your prethident." "I thed I would thtrike down Don't asthk Don't tell, didn't I? "You bet your thweet thongs I did!" "Thank you...It reminds me of my favorite thong, thumbwear over the rainbow..."
Or a Hispanic crowd.....
"Por favor forget that I deport your Tio Tomaso!" "Los Republicanos are your ENEMY in realidad!"
No Harry was spo on - he said Obama has "no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one."
Guess he decided he wanted to have one on this occasion.
The pandiering is so ridiculous it's breathtaking.
Except for the fact Spanky that nothing turns a capitalists into a Socialist faster than a pink slip, plus you assume Obama will take the full blame for the economy, and he will not, the republicans will make sure he does not, they can't even help themselves, because their whole deal is cut taxes, cut regulations, and cut spending, and if they go against that for anything or any reason they are punished by people like you (but at the moment there are just not enough Spanky's in the world, to win a general election) they gave you guys the ball and you kicked it out of bounds. The American people bailed out wall street so they could immediately pay themselves bonuses again, they bailed out the banks, they see money pissed away on wars with countries that don't have a navy or an air force, and would likely starve to death in a month if we did not feed them. Right wrong or indifferent they want their bailout, they want some money spent on them, they want to know why aren't they too important to fail, they want some action, and they don't give a damn about the national debt, when they wonder how they are going to make it at the end of the month. They are getting mad as hell that is the truth because nobody cared about the debt when everybody else was bailed out, they just want to know when is it going to be their turn. I am not saying that your points about taxes and debt are all invalid, but politically nobody gives a sh!t when they are layed off when they personally need an unemployment check or food stamps even conservatives and republicans see those things in a whole new light. Just look how fast they backed off the Ryan plan when all those little old republicans said leave my "Socialism checks" and "Socialized Medicare" the hell alone.
Spanky, the pandering is no more breathtaking than republicans pandering to the tea party, we all loves us some pandering as long they are pandering to us. It is no different than you like the tax credit on the schoolbus you bought, but you don't like it for electric cars, because you don't plan to buy one. Thats my point again people are against "welfare benefits" of variuos kinds, right up until the moment they themselves need them. This is exactly the thing that will re-elect Obama and cause republicans to lose the house, more and more people need what the republicans are against, they need it, they don't care if it right or wrong anymore they just need it. They will vote to eat before they vote to balance any budget, they don't have much choice. Republicans as of yet have failed to give them any choice, but Obama
From another article on this site: "The Claims That Obama Doesn't Lead Are Wrong And Muddle Things"
In regard to his jobs plan, the president said he would take it to the people. So now the president is speaking around the nation, and the right-wing has their panties in a knot about him "campaigning." It's not like his home state is on fire while running for reelection, and so what if the president does campaign? He is the democrat candidate. Conservatives want him out of office with a vengeance, so how dare he raise money, or speak, or do anything to get reelected?! How absurd is that?!
One of the questions I have is why does the GOP/TP hold debates in the Reagan Library, or Chris Chistie give a speech there when not one of them supports anything Reagan did when he was president--like increasing the tax base to pay for deficit spending for military/defense? All these pretenders are nothing but a disgrace.
[The pandiering is so ridiculous it's breathtaking.]
...and yet you still spout your ignorance...
...nice job, "counselor"...simply stellar...
Damage, I doubt you even watched President Obama's speech to the CBC. The only reason you're confused is that the right-wing media you used as your source.
Ya gotta love it. This is the kind of crap that always tears the Dems apart. If Obama sucks up to much to one grievance group, the other one gets mad. If he criticizes another grievance group, they complain like children that "you never sadi that to (fill in other grievance group)." A liberal politican spends nearly all his time trying to please those who aren't capable of being pleased because that would be against their agenda. Hilarious! lol. You liberals have made this your bed and constantly piss in it. Once again, you have to lie in it.
Here's some great quotes from that female dog, Maxine Waters:
Back in 2008, Waters was lecturing oil company executives at a congressional hearing when she plainly stated her true intentions: “Guess what this liberal would be all about? This liberal would be about socializing … uh, umm. … Would be about, basically, taking over, and the government running all of your companies.”
Here is Waters, at a 2004 congressional hearing, (and yes, that is the same “Frank” Raines that vastly overstated Fannie Mae’s earnings in order to receive $90 million in bonuses). “We do not have a crisis at Freddie Mac, and particularly Fannie Mae, under the outstanding leadership of Frank Raines .”
During the “Why can’t we all just get along” riots in her congressional district, Waters excused the wonton violence, as HER CONSTITUENTS were intent on burning down the city. The Los Angeles Times quoted her saying: “If you call it a riot, it sounds like it was just a bunch of crazy people who went out and did bad things for no reason. I maintain it was somewhat understandable, if not acceptable. So I call it a rebellion.”
For those liberals who decry harsh conservative attacks on President Obama, let’s hearken back to 2005 and listen to Waters’ comments on President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney: “The President is a liar. Dick Cheney, the chief architect of the Big Lie, is not only a liar, he is a thief.”
Damage123
"Ya gotta love it."
Here's what we love:
Bachmann
Perry
Romeney
Paul
Cain
Santorum
That one guy that was on one debate one night, never to be seen again
Palin
Newt
That's what's giving US our jollies these days. That, and watching all the crabbing from the right, because they DON'T love these folks. Nope. No love at all.
Sorry, Repubs, but hey YOU let the teabaggers put them up- not US.
We don't have to love em'. We just have to elect em'. All those people you named have one thing in common. They're not socialists. Other than being Black, the things that got Obama elected aren't present this time around. He HAS a record now. Even the toe-licking, tingle-legged media has cooled off on their love of all things Barack HUSSEIN Obama. And don't forget the economy still sucks.
Damage you do realize that all those little old republicans that kicked Paul Ryan's ass in those town halls are "Socialists", and they will vote for a "Socialist", Paul Ryan guaranteed that, he made sure they understand how important voting for a "Socialist" is for them.
Damaged:
[...let’s hearken back to 2005 and listen to Waters’ comments on President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney: “The President is a liar. Dick Cheney, the chief architect of the Big Lie, is not only a liar, he is a thief.”]
Waters may be a looney, but you know as well as I that she was right on the money with that quote...so what's your point?
Mark, careful- this is where they will throw the race card at you! Totally ridiculous, but that's the libbies sop when they're in an indefensible position.
I've been listening to what Cain has been saying and I'm pretty impressed! He carries himself well, is engaging, and has a great business background. I like him in the debates as well and would very much like to see him in a head to head debate against Obama! For that to happen, he'd half to win the Republican nomination though. Romney/Rubio or Romney/Huntsman look good.... but so would Romney/Cain! It's going to be fun!
How about Romney/Romney, Memphis.
At least he would have consensus on his views.
To put it bluntly, "grumbling" is what democrats in Congress do, what progressives in the media do. While it annoys me, it is also what I like about democrats--they are not silent, lock step marchers. Anyone who has watched politics for any period of time should know that democrats complain about other democrats; if they don't like something or disagree, they speak up. The difference between republicans and democrats beyond ideology is this: republicans rarely complain publically, democrats frequently do.
"republicans rarely complain publically, democrats frequently do."....
You're right, Jody. Are you referring to these losers that have been out there disrupting the lives of New Yorkers the last few days? Don't these idiots have jobs? Haha. Silly question. We have guys in Afghanistan figting like tigers and dying and losing limbs etc...and these (rhymes with "wussies") scream bloody murder when they get maced. They're disgusting.
Correct Jody. Republicans have to wait until a Democrat is in the White House to complain about all the spending, bail outs, illegal immigration, etc. that was rampant during their own administration.
Damage123 -- There are some "true" Tea Party people participating in the Occupy Wall Street rallies. The rest of the Teabaggers who in reality are just the old Moral Majority pro-Big Business types, not so much. When I saw the video of police slamming a guy with a video camera into a car or pepper spraying girls though none of the protesters were doing anything but standing there, it didn't seem so different from footage we've seen in Syria. But that's how fascism takes hold--disgusting indeed.
[Are you referring to these losers that have been out there disrupting the lives of New Yorkers the last few days?]
Actually, it's more like two weeks now...and to think these "losers" are fighting for you, too Damaged...but you can't see that through your selfishness...you fit right in with the Tea Party...good luck with that.
Syria? Really? Nice fear mongering. You disgust me.
the dinh -- What separates us from countries like Syria is Rule of Law (among other important things). If you don't like my post then what does that say about you?
Hey, Spanks- I'm leaving early to go grab a beer, and you won't be able to do anything about it. So frustrating for a professional like you, I would guess. Think you might want to call a cop? You should, you know.
No, you'd rather be filing briefs I bet (which I assume does NOT mean putting your underwear in the clothes hamper for your wife to launder, but I could be quite wrong, I'm sure).
Good for you Drive By. Given you comments today, you clearly need one.
I myself have an appointment/client meeting at 3:00.
Oh and I hate writing briefs. Much rather be hanging out with my friend Captain Morgan, although I'm kinda feeling like a Bombay Sapphire and tonic today.
See you tomorrow my man.
If you actually watch the entire speech, you'll see that its a very good motivational and inspirational speech. It's obvious that when he says this at the very end he is wrapping up the speech and to thunderous applause. He is not scolding the CBC. He was a member of the CBC and he knows all too well how it functions. This was not a speech to "All Black People".
Unfortunately black people are used to suffering, they are used to higher unemployment than the rest of the population, unfortunately they are used to a lot of things the rest of us have been lucky enough to not understand. I seriously doubt that they will attribute their current plight solely to Obama, they have seen worse than this before even if many of us have not. A lot of people are upset because they are not used to being told they don't deserve and can no longer have what they have or expect from government, black people are not as surprised by all this and blame Obama for it as much as some might think, or hope.
Much the same point that i was attempting to inartfully make. White people IGNORE what has created black "inexperience".
IGNORANT white people will soon find that they are the "new ni66ers" of the 21st Century.
Point made Paul, and not that I myself am artful, I am not but that was a tad in-artful, though probably true, people are not happy with the lack of opportunity for them personally, and many are coming to the conclusion that republican politicians are not helping.
I think Obama was telling the black people to get out of their pajamas and bathrobes and stop lounging around doing nothing.
You are right about that he was telling them to go to work, get registered, get active, mobilize and re-elect him. That is why the republicans are so bummed out about his speech, they don't give a sh!t when Sarah Palin or Rick Perry enunciate like a hillbilly now do they. Your not upset that he dropped his G's your upset he is firing these people up to vote against you, and the fact you don't have a candidate that can do the same for you is your problem not his.
I think you didn't bother to read the article or other posts.

I'm not bummed out or upset. I have no doubts that Obama is going to get his a$$ whipped again in 2012. If he can get the blacks fired up and get them to go out and find jobs so they can start paying their share of taxes, great. It doesn't even bother me that he talks down to them. Whatever works to get them off welfare, food stamps, free housing etc., That's what our country is going to need to get us out of this recession.
It will also help our next president whether it will be Mr. Perry, Mr. Gingrich or Mr. Romney. We are ALL going to have to pitch in and make our country as great as it once was.

You are ate up Rangewolf, by the time Obama finishes his next term you might have a bleeding ulcer and will be in need of some Obama-care.
Gee --- Repukes are bitching about something Obama said. And this is news????
