And now Republicans are playing the Obama card -- trying to tie President Obama to Tomblin in West Virginia, a state where the president's numbers are pretty poor.

Standard campaign fodder - Tie your opponent to the unpopular Obama.
As I recall, Manchin won a Senate seat by 'running away' from Obama and Obamacare.
And shooting a tree.
Unfortunately, TV ads with audio will be the only ads in West Virginia. Flyers and print ads do not work as most of the state can't read.

He isn't defending him he is pointing out saying people from a state can't read is not racist. Just as the liberals are quick to pull the racist card out when someone talks bad about President Obama. This will be another indication of just how well the Obama brand holds up. If Tomblin loses look for Dems to distance themselves even more from Obama.

marc, you have to ask yourself, are we better off now than 2 1/2 years ago. Any sane and intelligent person would say "no". Who controlled congress and the presidency for two years? That's right, the democrats. The hole we are in was dug a lot deeper than when obama came to office. Also, remember that the democrats controlled congress for the last two years of Bush's presidency, when the debt started to take a huge leap, unemployment increased, and the spending took a huge leap. You mention a good point. The highest poverty rate. Again, who is president and who controlled congress for the first two years of obama's presidency?

Mark I have seen that question, Are you better off now than you were 2 1/2 years ago, posted several times. I personally am the same. Millions are worse off. However the two groups that are better off are Corporations (record profits) and the wealthy (millionairs and billionairs). I would assume the latter is helped tremendously by the 1st group. This is where I don't get Republican thinking becasue they tell us these two groups are the "job creators" yet unemployment stays high. Why if the "job creators" are doing great do we not see them creating jobs?
Short answer is corporations will not hire people if there is no demand for the product.

Unemployment claims are down alittle for this month. Wish you could give obama credit. But highschool and college students are back in class and alot of jobs opened up. There is no progress that I have seen. He only seems to be succesful in frustrating the american people.

I do not like total party bashing. There are elements in both that can open targets for criticism. But I have seen very fiscal sound democrates who have not voted rank and file. I support that. I have seen some republicans that have caved and sought only favor from the rhino establisment. We need to really be specific in our calls and frustrations.
Sorry though I can not go with you on Hillary 2012. But do respect your post and maturity.

It will take at least eight years of enlightened Republican leadership in all three branches of our government to just get back on the road to recovery. Total recovery may take 20 years and no Democrats.
