The first house I remember as a little kid had an outhouse. Not as an extra toilet- it was THE toilet. When it rained, there were at least half a dozen pans and pails set up to catch the rain from the leaky roof. Baths were taken in a wash tub. See, now I have what I have- and here's where you can ding me all day long, Spank: I did it on a high school diploma. Nope. No college degree. No prayin' to some God. No inheritance, other than $5K from Dad's insurance from work when he and mom died. Just hard work and honest living.

Why am I sharing that with you, of all people? Simply because I want you and the other righties to understand that not everyone on the left is incapable of hard work and self-betterment. Some of us actually care about our neighbors and others, rather than ME FIRST.

Amy--it may be an acquired taste. I actually have a gun---it was an anniversary gift from my husband a few years ago! We enjoy target shooting and competitions (he is very good, I'm not so good but improving). We also golf so I guess we've got it covered.

Now if they could figure some way of combining golf and guns and alcohol....

Da Noid, I am sure it is. Perry is losing GOP base voters quickly with many of his Texas moderate positions and needs to pander to get votes. No different than Hillary and Obama did in 08 by pandering to the radical left on stuff. Its all about winning the GOP votes now and they certainly are not going to pander to people on this blog. When you look at the 10 swing states--Florida, Virginia, NC, Ohio and to some extent even Michigan and Wisconsin are huge hunting states and all but Wisconsin have gun carry permit laws. Romney is unlikely to appeal to this group. But for the GOP in front of his name, Romney would likely appeal to most in this blog.

No where in the very short lead into the video release by Rick Perry or his supporters is there any indication that anyone is saying this activity, or that Rick Perry by participating in it, is crazy.

As to Perry and his weapon (gun is an incorrect description in this case)? The only need for a Sniper Rifle is in the military. Sniper's are highly trained marksmen who's sole job is to kill the enemy without being seen or heard. So what motivates a person like Rick Perry to find affinity with the role of a Sniper?

It is comforting to know that people that are mentally unstable can carry a gun.
