The right gets much of its power from having a consistent message and sticking to it, even when it defies reality. But here you are, a progressive, painting Obama with the broadest brush in your kit as a disappointment. We can debate from here to Sunday about what Obama did and did not have to sacrifice in terms of progressive reform for the sake of compromise. But you're ignoring the full record, including being the first President ever to enact some sort of comprehensive health care policy. Criticize all you like--it's a healthy thing to do--but you're playing right into the hands of a camp that poses an incredible threat to progress, if any of the likely candidates can be taken at their word. What I miss about Tip O'Neill is that he and Reagan were able to recognize each other as people who both wanted the best for America.
