Yup. The biggest story of 2011 will be catching and killing bin Laden. I think the second biggest story ought to be what has been going on in the Murdoch empire with the phone hacking.
And here we have Perry having dinner with the undemocratic criminal.
Murdoch is in the journalism business. His job is to uncover phone hacking.
Oh wait, he's doing it. No one is surprised.
Hope you had a nice dinner Perry. You two deserve each other.
Since President Obama is in NYC today, I thought all you guys & gals might like to see these color photos taken in NYC in the 1940's. They are spectacular! I especially love the photos taken in the Lower East Side, in my mind the best neighborhood historically in our Nation. This is where our ancestors set down their suitcases and lived until breaking out in all directions, all over the country.
During the last slash-and-burn legislative session, presidential contender and Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) approved draconian budget cuts for everything from education to Medicare. But one area where he didn’t mind being extravagant with taxpayer money was financing family vacations, tours to promote his book, and campaign events.
The Houston Chronicle reports that Perry used at least $294,000 of Texas taxpayers’ money for numerous personal trips, and has no plans to reimburse the state...

Gee, nice to see so many politicians care about people. The richest ones - the ones who don't want their taxes raised - are the ones against unemployment insurance for those attempting to simply survive.
Spanky, I haven't been able to read your posts for awhile, I am glad to be back...for now. Here are some other news stories you may have missed while you were busy answering everyone elses posts and forming your ever so thoughtful lists and questions:
1) Republicans are only proposing partisan legislation and denying proposals that they once were all about
2) A majority of Americans want the rich to be taxed more (remember when you were using those pesky polls to serve your agenda)
3) Many republicans sighned a "pledge" that they would do nothing to raise revenue unless it were by the means of cutting even though countless economists and your half of the bipartisan budget commission state that it needs to have a balanced approach. Who just came out with that approach, why it was President Obama.
4) You have never made an independent comment in your life before seeing what Rush Dimbaugh or the other establishment republicans want you to say
5) You rarely stay on topic
6) SteveYo will come around just enough to pester you...fair is fair right?
But golly PEN, I'd much rather pay what you pay. Seems "fair" whatever that means to a politician.
"Everyone wants to live at the expense of the State. They forget that the state lives at the expense of everyone." F. Bastiat.
And it is so true SteveYo - but that's just cause I'm a dumb, neo-nazi, puppy killing conservative.
But do tell - is someone typing for my? Is it possible that I share some of the same thoughts as other conservatives? After all SteveYo, all us "wealthy" people have to stick together to stick it to you all, right?
Spanky you buy that connection all by yourself, If you don't like being tied to dumb, neo-nazi, puppy killing conservatives then change the perception. Don't class everyone that disagrees with you as a liberal flunky. You do get what you give, just like everyone else.
"Everyone wants to live at the expense of the State. They forget that the state lives at the expense of everyone."
Who in america has been living on govt. largess for donkey years now........job creators.
Typical GOP line, government is bad for the poor and middle but good for one thing, continuously dolling out tax largess to the gluttons, job creators.
job creator spanky, simply pay your fair share of income tax. No one intended ruffling your rich feathers but, just like Regan asked you to pay more taxes 11 times so is Obama asking you to pay your fair share. Did that make Regan a liberal?
There's nothing liberal or conservative here rather common sense maths. You might be making a mistake listening to those politician who signed their lives away to Grover.......i know you're smarter than that.
Hurry Romney -- You better get your meeting with The Donald, then with Murdoch, and on to Sheriff Arpaio. You're running behind! And if you're smart you'll beat Perry to the Koch brothers. Hurry!
NBC News confirms that Texas Gov. Rick Perry dined last night in New York with media mogulRupert Murdoch.
That's it? That's the WHOLE story? Looks to me like someone should reevaluate Carrie Dann's position with the firm... I am not sure that she is holding up her end of the bargain.
SOB, that was the point, and you followed right into it with "leftwing loons" what does name calling accomplish except to get called a name. Leftwings are loons only because they don't agree with you and right wings are neo-nazis because they don't agree with the left. And both sides don't like being associated with those names just as Spanky indicated. Yet both sides say and do things attaching themselves to those names. How about breaking the mold and getting something accomplish for all of us. Both side have points that are true and both sides have made up fantastic lies. Regardless of side if we do not fix the problems we all will pay the price somehow. Dispel the lies, Not all poor people on the dole are democrates and not all rich people are Republicans. Not all stupid people are left or right there are plenty of stupid people in this country to go around for all sides. What do we want all the left people to agree or die for the right and the reverse for the right, not going to happen we all know that. So why not find agreement in disagreement and work for the middle because that is all that will work. Spanky brought up the Arab Spring, that can happen here as well, look at England and their riots, that can happen here as well. It that what it is going to take to solve the issues civil war in the US again. Just think about that for a minute, what that would look like. Both sides have guns, both sides believe they are right, both sides have religion and some the same. How much more will it take to start the war, not much it gets closer and closer everyday, just listen to what is being said and how it is being said. I have been waiting for at least 17 years for war to come to this country because we are split as a people the vary same way they are in Egypt, or Lybia. The haves and have nots real or not but just the perception is enough.
Not "all" Spanky, just the greedy ones who can't bring themselves to at least bring it to the same level. Also, I didn't call you any of those names, that was you. I don't even have to insult your intelligence, you've done it for me. By the way, that's where the discourse get's lost, in the namecalling. I am guilty of it too, sure, but I don't hate all conservatives, I only hate the brain dead obstructionist ones. For all of those that preach, "Obama should take an economics class", perhaps Congress should take an American Government class...you know compromise, checks and balances. Read the history of the American Revolution. For all of the disagreement going on, they actually got some stuff done, show me the evidence of that now. And congratulations for being "wealthy". My wife and I make less than $80k a year combined, and would happily pay more if that meant my kids were better educated, my roads weren't in disrepair and my fire department had a fair wage. I enjoy being responsible with my wealth. Enjoy your McMansion though, sounds nice.
Steveyo, you just opened the door for the right, the reason for the bad roads and bad education is all the spending the left is doing and has nothing to do with tax cuts. Thats the argument, your lazy because you only make 80,000 a year combined not smart enough to make more. That the point of the right. It all yours and the lefts fault, the right has not responsiblity in this they share no blame. Just ask them they are perfect.
So, in other words, Perry sells his soul to Fox "news" and Rupert Murdoch...at least he'll have a job after his failed bid for the White House...he'll be sitting in a chair right next to Michelle Malkin.
Tis the Season, granted that is their argument, it just becomes circular logic...an argument for or against anything. They might tell me I am lazy, but I know that we both have a Master's degree in our field and our frozen wage is based on the money that comes from the state. What are we? Teachers! Anybody that calls the body of teachers "lazy" and "union dogs" or whatever they say is just ignorant. Step inside of a high school today. Although there are many lazy teachers, the same could be said for the lazy wealthy who would rather sip their extra Mai Tai than help out someone less fortunate, save their kettle donations at Christmas and tithing at church...give me a break. But yes, that would certainly be their argument.
SteveYo---Thanks for putting Spanky and all those other rich clowns in their place. I wish they would stop whining and offer up some constructive ideas for once. By the way, I know that teachers are the backbone of this country.
Tom - my place, why my place is right here in my office, hanging on occasion with you all. Oh and Tom, I know a little something about teaching and particularly being a teacher. Yet still I adhere to my puppy killing, neo-nazi racist ways. Odd stuff, eh?
I got but one idea - flat tax, but somehow the libbies and the gov. just hate that one. Takes all their power away.
Funny thing is SteveYo - 20 years ago we had better roads, better schools and the government had about the same level of revenue [feds] and states and local a lot more. Revenue has always been between 18-23%. Spending, well not so much. Bush sucked and now Obama is a whole new level of hurt.
But the states and local governments give so much more now on a percentage basis to the public workers. The pay and benefits they get have so far outpaced revenue there is no more money for the roads or schools, just wages and benefits. And those are all collapsing around them.
But it is funny you chide ME about ideas. Why? I run for no office, and advise no one on policy. But you know who dOES? Obama and god golly but his numbers are down even more since the big jobs speech in the joint session.
You all have to admit, as have so many dems in congress - his jobs speech sucked. So many of the dems running as far away as possible. Fail.
So how about you all get on him about ideas. Me, I was not a political science major, and did do much chatting on the Internet [clothed] before I found this fun blog.
Bottom line is I pay a BUTT-LOAD of taxes and am familiar enough with the codes to discuss them. I employ a few people and thus am a "job creator" and business owner. as such I deal with HR and more rules and regulation than you can shake a stick at.
Oddly enough, and despite all the "expertise" dallied about around here, I get the sense that many of you have never created a job, had to meet a payroll, deal with now employment or other regulations, and have never read one sentence of the IRC.
So allow me to throw it back to you all - what have you done to create? What have you done to make it easier for those of us that have, do more?
Tis - I am responsible for me and my gfamily. I ask nothing of anyone and hold everyone to be responsible for themselves. Cold and hard? Cruel even? Maybe, but life is hard and cruel and let's face it the entitlement mentality is not helping anyone. I would expect anyone who deals with high schoolers would know that very well.
Oh and one last thing - who pissed off Anna Molley? You all finally did run off poor Ira, the libbie who understood too much to deal with us.
I only hate the brain dead obstructionist ones. For all of those that preach, "Obama should take an economics class", perhaps Congress should take an American Government class...you know compromise, checks and balances.
Members of Congress are elected to represent the will of their constituents. When you have a junior senator with no experience elected as president, a guy that graded left of a a self-avowed socialist and seeks to "transform" America and your constituents are vehemently opposed to that direction, why would you compromise your beliefs, principles, etc?
Where in the Constitution does it require that compromise?
Checks and balances?
You got to be kidding.
Obama ignores federal judges orders on moratoriums, ignores their contempt orders, ignores the will of the people and Congress on Cap and Trade by executing it in effect with his EPA, ignores the will of the people and Congress on Dream Act by effecting the Dream Act by executive fiat, ignores his oath to protect and enforce the law by ignoring defense of DOMA, doesn't even bother to mention to the people or go to Congress about Libya before going on vacation ..... on and on.
And congratulations for being "wealthy". My wife and I make less than $80k a year combined, and would happily pay more if that meant my kids were better educated,
Yet you said in 1.19 - you both were teachers with masters ... and you complain about them not being better educated?
WOW!
BTW - You have a masters and never figured out what teachers made? If you are jealous of Spanky, why didn't you choose to be an attorney and make that amount?
Maybe a little risk averse? Don't have the safety of a union to protect the lazy teachers you admitted exist?
I guess in the masters program they never taught you life was like a sack lunch .... you get out of it what choose to put in it. Instead .... you choose to be a liberal that expects the government to make the sack lunch and gripes when someone else's lunch has something better in it.
There is a book out called Class Warfare written by Steven Brill. Its about School Reform and how Charter schools are making a difference. You should check it out.
"We're seeing the tail end of the unions' argument over whether the largest occupation in the U.S. should be the only occupation where no one gets promoted or paid based on how good a job they do."
As pointed out in the news last night (I forgot who said it) Teapublicans who meet with Trump or Murdoch are just trying to contain any negative media. Arnold Schwarzenegger was able to squash rumors about his affair for a long time that way.
They can run but they can't hide. Not on a national level. It's still a long time until the 2012 election, and Perry will be exposed (just as Palin has). Bachmann, well she exposes herself--then complains about Leno for crying out loud. And other crazies like Santorum aren't likely to survive long enough.
Spanky, you have a law degree because that is what you choose for yourself. I choose no degree for my own reasons mostly because a piece of paper does not make you smart, life does that or it runs over you. Like you I am responsible for mine and my families life but as you should know being in the legal profession, that is an illusion. It is simple for someone else to quickly take control of your life and throw it in the trash by using the laws that are to protect but only those smart enough to use them for their own benefit. You practice that every day, (not destroying someone) but using the laws to benefit someone and hurting another depending on your practice. So while we think we have control it is just an illusion and yet you step on someone (a teacher) for his choice to teach and not create a job but does create someone capable of doing a job. Many normal people do not directly create jobs and no have no experience with the regulations of having employees, they simply know what it is to be an employee, something you might try to remember what that is like as I am sure you were once an employee somewhere. Some employers are fair and honest even kind but that is not the norm today. I work at a company with no union, lazy workers, bad management but fair pay and good benefits. Do I complain about my job, not today or at least not loudly, I like my paycheck, but I am in fear everyday that I can loose this job because of the economy I have no control over. I am not asking anyone to give me a handout but I do expect to receive what I have paid for. I do expect my government to provide what they have promised, I do not like hearing that some overpaid congressman thinks I do not deserve something I have paid into. I think that is something you are missing and the Teacher gets, I also do not think you are aware of what Teachers face in the classroom everyday. Kids are not what we were years ago, they do not have the same outlook on life nor respect for it. Try to keep in mind your life is not everyone else life, you have your concerns and issues and everyone else has theirs but they are not the same. You worry about payroll and someone else worries about food for the children. You worring about making appointment on time and they worry about getting sick and how to pay for it if even possible, Your life is not someone elses, you may want to spend time living someone elses for a while to regain some insight. You are not bad for your views anymore than I am it is however how we life those views.
Wow Tis - spoken like someone with no power or control. Or is it just a generalized fear of the world?
And by the way - I was an employee, in many different fields. Working of others is sucks, and never, ever profitable.
I hear you about the kids and I blame the parents, for it is they [and society] that is failing. The teachers can only work with what they have.
Tis - I appreciate all views. Every one has them and entitled to them. What you are not entitled to is more of my money, and unfortunately that is what this is all about.
life is a choice and almost all make bad choices. I will not tell you it's bad, or correct your mistakes. I will leave you to make them as you see fit - that is freedom, and freedom is the hardest thing of all.
tis the season — I always believed that security was always based on ones ability to perform. Government assistance should always be finite and temporary in nature. however many have abused government assistance to the extent that it is no longer sustainable. I recall no government program that even suggests that it should be the sole source of supprt.
If one doesn't make plans for a future, it will suck to be them. Each recession creates changes, those that adapt to the changes move forward, those that don't won't. And yes i understand a few exceptions will exist, they always do and should never be used to justify trying to create regs in an effort to include them. That is where personal responsibility comes in, not government.
Life is and always will be about choices. Spanky and others merely point out some of the choices available outside of government control.
To bad others don't understand what you said here...
mostly because a piece of paper does not make you smart, life does that or it runs over you.
steveyo - Lazy wealthy??? How so? talking about 2nd and third generation inherited wealth people? talking about the managers and CEO's that put in more time and risk than the floor workers who are happy to put in 40 and go home?
You say you are a teacher with a masters. Why is it that our kids have such a poor performance that our k-12 is ranked globally at around #26? Sluffing off are we, steveyo? All that salary and money being pumped into our schools over the years and still we are in decline. Maybe you need to start giving just a "little more" to help our kids remain competitive. Care to give a little more steveyo or is that something you want to pawn off on someone else?
TP - you do forget a lot don't you? Even makes you opinions lame with little thought. Perhaps your HS sweety distracted you. Hmmmm?
Ever hear the expression of "as iron sharpens iron, so does man sharpen man"?
The Teapublican freshmen in the House are so experienced, riiight. And how could anyone think checks and balances are a method for compromise--crazy to think the founding fathers intended any such thing as compromise if it isn't spelled out in the constitution. And it's all about representing ones constituents, you know the majority who support the president's jobs plan and deficit reduction plan, but all those polls mean nothing.
You know what is worse than a bean counter with a law degree? An Actuary -- hahaha. Without a spouse and government hand-outs, Bachmann would be living in a van down by the river. (What, who'd think I was talking about?) Woah, the fowl odor is worse than normal. Oh, american is here.
Don't kid yourself SOB I have been baking my own bread all my life, I raised a bunch of little Grumpsters on that single loaf income and put some breaddough away for Mrs. Grump and the future, I helped a lot of wonderful employers and employees bake their bread along the way. I worked my ass off at the bakery, I am a baking fool, and I continue to do so, because I love to bake, and sure I like the bread too.
SOB, your just a little thick, How about he just does not want someone to steal what bread crumbs he does have to fill their own pockets. If needed I can explain this as well.
We need a special prosecutor. There is not one person in this country with the I.q. High enough to tie their own shoes who trusts Holder to do a proper investigation.
Later NJNB we are trying to to bake some bread here, there are 14 million Americans that have the more immediate problem of being fresh out of bread because the bakery they worked has closed. We need to bake 14 million loaves of bread, lots of hungry kids are waiting on us, why don't you put on an apron and pitch in.
Catch you guys later I have to go to the Bakery for awhile, and bake some bread for myself.
Hey Mark in SoCal I'll try to be back for a midnight show, I hope you can sell a few tickets I Knead the Dough, and folks like Mark says please be sure to tip your waitress.
I don't have to barter and I don't have to kiss up to anyone, I am a union man, I collectively bargain for a good wage and fringe package, I can stand up for myself and the man next to me without being fired for it. All I have to do is work real hard to make sure my employers are turning a profit on my labor, and his customers are happy with his services, then bargain hard for a fair slice of that profit. Unless I am working as a private consultant then I charge the same employers 3x my regular wage and fringe package. I put on nice clothes and a tie, and I just advise them on what to do and how to do it, and never touch a tool. That is the strange thing to me, the fact that some would complain when I am a workman about my $50.00 per hour wage and fringe package, some people here call me a union thug, lazy, socialist and all manner of things. But when I walk in wearing a suit and charge the same employers 3x as much as a private consultant or on site advisor, those same people call be a smart businessman that deserves all the profit he can get. Pretty cool huh, when I walk in dressed in work clothes, and work my ass off, I am a lazy overpaid socialist, but when I walk in the same door in nice clothes and charge them 3X as much and they pick up any travel and lodging expenses if necessary, and I don't do a single lick of physical work, then all of a sudden I am a smart capitalists. If it wasn't for the health insurance (and the fact that I love what I do), at my age I would not work with the tools as much as I do each year, but as a small businessman trying to get the coverage I have for me and the wife through my union, at our age and pre-existing conditions, buying insurance for the two of us would be astronomical. I am not into working for a health insurance company, so I always work a good portion of the year under my collective bargaining agreement. The rest of the time I take various consulting and training gigs all centered around the same industry, or I just putter around the house and aggravate Mrs. Grump and some of you by blogging too much. Plus my patents still generate some income. So please American-2051576 save the show some personal initiative stuff for republicans in Congress.
I thought that was Cheney. Murdoch is more like the anti-Christ, the man who is an expert at messaging from behind the curtain (along with Dick Armey, Koch brothers, etc.). Glenn Beck is a false prophet, Andrew Breitbat is the Unibomber--there's a long list. I like your line of thinking though.
I don't think I would want to be seen paling around with murdock at the same time I was running for president, maybe perry can get a spot on tv like that sarah chick if his presidential bid falls through.
How can this be a positive for Perry any more than Trump. Talk about money playing to money. When did Murdoch and Trump become king makers. You are looking at the future, Perry under contract to Murdoch and Trump. I can hardly wait
Bob what your point. Ricky has gone to Trump and Murdoch whats the difference, its a fact to win election takes money period. Both sides are guilty but that is the system we have developed in this country to say one side is better or worse is ignorant at best. You just demostrated the point perfectly. If you don't see that then you are very ignorant.
"After Obama did his phony class warfare spiel..."
You are correct. The 'class warfare' spiel IS a phony. Why? Because everyone knows it's NOT the wealthy class that has had warfare waged against it since, say, the reign of St Reagan.
(you didn't really think 'trickle-down' was an attack on the wealthy, did you??)
Rob, so that way GE paid no tax and everyone on the right is up in arms about it because they are connected to Obama is some fashion. The rich pay more now who is lying.
"So there's an AP article out today discussing how Millionaires actually pay more in taxes than Secretaries."
If a millionaire makes 400 times what an aveage sec'y makes, you mean he is paying 400 times more taxes, too? After all loopholes and deductions are factored in? Really??
Yes but how much income can be hidden or as stated by IRS how much is made from investment and taxes at a different rate. The big boys take their pay in stocks and bonds not in straight salaries which would mean paying taxes, but we all know they hide the vast majority of the money they make. So how about a little truth and less dodge ball.
From that AP article Rob is blathering aimlessly on about: "Obama's claim hinges on the fact that, for high-income families and individuals, investment income is often taxed at a lower rate than wages. The top tax rate for dividends and capital gains is 15 percent."
"Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner was pressed at a White House briefing on the number of millionaires who pay taxes at a lower rate than middle-income families. He demurred, saying that people who make most of their money in wages pay taxes at a higher rate, while those who get most of their income from investments pay at lower rates."
"In 2009, 1,470 households filed tax returns with incomes above $1 million yet paid no federal income tax, according to the Internal Revenue Service."
"why do so many people pay at lower rates? Because the tax code is riddled with more than $1 trillion in deductions, exemptions and credits"
He demurred, saying that people who make most of their money in wages pay taxes at a higher rate, while those who get most of their income from investments pay at lower rates."
the money "those who get most of their income from investments" didn't fall into there hands from thin air. They earned it at some point and it was taxed as personal income the first time around.
now they have to pay another 15% --- it's called double taxation.
This LIE that the president is telling will be the final nail in the coffin.
Rob, you really have to get out once in a while, breath the air. It may clear that muck you call a brain. Double taxation it paying twice on the same dollar, not new dollars thats called income. The big boys do a great fade and punt when it comes to income. Why do you think they take pay in stocks and bonds vs monthly salary. Why do you think you have more deductions the higher your pay, because that is the way the tax laws are written, and who do you think payed for those laws. Why do they have offshore accounts, why to they put their factories in other countries, stop watching fox, read, watch multiple news shows and see the different views on the same story. You might learn something, then you can speak with some idea of what you are saying.
Millionaires actually pay more in taxes than Secretaries.
ACTUALLY, IT DOES NOT APPEAR SO:
Bob Williams, a tax policy specialist at the nonpartisan Urban Institute-Brookings Institution Tax Policy Center, said this is largely carried out through popular tax breaks, which are sometimes called "tax expenditures."
"There are lots and lots of them," he said. "We estimate they total more than a trillion dollars a year in reduced taxes, and in fact the bulk of those go to the top end of the income distribution."
Tell Grover Norquist that President Obama and I do NOT want any "new taxes" either; we just want to get back the same old taxes we had before Reagan and W. took them from the United States and gave them to their wealthy friends and supporters. GIVE THEM BACK TO AMERICA NOW!
Let President Obama get the nation out of debt! STOP being so selfish!
Perry and Murdoch scare soccer moms--period. Women will still vote for Obama in larger numbers than ever. They don't like slick (Perry) and they don't like mean (Murdoch).
If only we could send Grover Norquist and all his quistlings who signed his pledge of no new taxes into exile on an extended semi-permanent junket to a remote pacific island (Midway Island comes to mind) to deal with the largest floating garbage dump ever formed, without raising taxes. That should empty out at least 50% of the federal and state legislatures. While they're at it, they could try to get the goonie birds to agree to the pledge.
I am sick of us always protecting Israel...what have they done for us...NOTHING...let the Palestinian people have their own country if they want....who cares...I cant believe the world sits back and watches while Israel time and time again does atrocious things in the name of whatever book they believe...just like the US and the bible...really who cares what religion anyone is...they should not get special treatment.....what if god was one of us...just a stranger on a bus...finding his way home...and maybe he is a Buddhist..
Ok to break bread with him just don't hack my phone. You don't want to see what I've got there. It's my damn secret.
What a bunch of kiss ups you Republicans are.

Yep, Pat, those are totally the biggest stories. Surely not:
1. Unemployment;
2. GDP downgrades;
3. Recession [that Obama said ended in summer '09];
4. Gun Runner;
5. Solyndra;
6. The death of "green shoots"
7. ballooning debts and deficits;
8. Gitmo, death tolls in Iraq, Afghanistan;
9. Libyan went a tad longer than "days"
10. Obama's ever declining popularity/the clarion call for Hillary.
Pat my dear, it would seem you are either delusional or lacking in any concept of perspective.
But super amusing, as always.
SPANKY
Just embrass those beautiful picture. And by the way, Pay your Fair Share of Tax.
"Conservatives" are so GD full of it.

True Tis...
and Spanky is just giving back to the leftwing loons that post their hate towards conservatives on this site... all day... every day!
Remember... you get what you give!
Spanky-
"Everyone wants to live at the expense of the State.
".....thoughtful lists and questions:..."
(tee-hee, *snicker*)
Hurry Romney -- You better get your meeting with The Donald, then with Murdoch, and on to Sheriff Arpaio. You're running behind! And if you're smart you'll beat Perry to the Koch brothers. Hurry!
Perry breaks bread with Rupert Murdoch
That's it? That's the WHOLE story? Looks to me like someone should reevaluate Carrie Dann's position with the firm... I am not sure that she is holding up her end of the bargain.
Put a little more effort in will you Carrie!
"Perry breaks bread with Rupert Murdoch"
Mmmmm Hmmmm- it should have said "Perry breaks WIND with Rupert Murdoch". Then, all the 'conservatives' could inhale deeply and say.."aaahhhhhhh".
('conservative' is in quotes, as I still haven't been able to determine just what they 'conserve')
["Perry breaks bread with Rupert Murdoch"]
So, in other words, Perry sells his soul to Fox "news" and Rupert Murdoch...at least he'll have a job after his failed bid for the White House...he'll be sitting in a chair right next to Michelle Malkin.
...God, how I miss the Fairness Doctrine...
Steve Yo,
Members of Congress are elected to represent the will of their constituents.
Obama ignores federal judges orders on moratoriums, ignores their contempt orders, ignores the will of the people and Congress on Cap and Trade by executing it in effect with his EPA, ignores the will of the people and Congress on Dream Act by effecting the Dream Act by executive fiat, ignores his oath to protect and enforce the law by ignoring defense of DOMA, doesn't even bother to mention to the people or go to Congress about Libya before going on vacation ..... on and on.
Typical.
SteveYo,
There is a book out called Class Warfare written by Steven Brill. Its about School Reform and how Charter schools are making a difference. You should check it out.
"We're seeing the tail end of the unions' argument over whether the largest occupation in the U.S. should be the only occupation where no one gets promoted or paid based on how good a job they do."
Steven Brill
To bad others don't understand what you said here...
steveyo - Lazy wealthy??? How so? talking about 2nd and third generation inherited wealth people? talking about the managers and CEO's that put in more time and risk than the floor workers who are happy to put in 40 and go home?
They break bread, and we get a few crumbs that fall from the table.
You dont like those FREE crumbs... then get off your A$$ and go bake your own bread!
That one did it for me sicko, you don't offer anything but your own stupidity. Got to love that ignore button.
How do you bake bread if you don't have any Dough!
He's Grumpy and he's here all week! Be sure to tip your waitress!
Good riddance! The truth hurts. You beggars always want more more more. Go out and get what you want on your own and quit looking for handouts!
I am sick of this gimme gimme attitude!
BTW... don't come to my place to get what you want... I have LOTS of ammo! HOOAH!
Then it sounds like you don't need someone else's crumbs... so what are you bitching about?
"we get a few crumbs"
oh brother!
Ha LOL Mark in SoCal, I deserved that, I guess I get the "Henny Youngman Award" for the Day.
BTW you are a pretty good MC.
SOB, your just a little thick, How about he just does not want someone to steal what bread crumbs he does have to fill their own pockets. If needed I can explain this as well.
Hope they talked about this
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/182553-issa-to-investigate-government-loan-programs
We need a special prosecutor. There is not one person in this country with the I.q. High enough to tie their own shoes who trusts Holder to do a proper investigation.
Special prosecutor- now.
Grump,
Fine job fending off the pervasive negativity here with positive wit. Toss me an apron, I feel the knead to pitch in.
(By the way........take my wife...pleeeeeze!!)
Catch you guys later I have to go to the Bakery for awhile, and bake some bread for myself.
Hey Mark in SoCal I'll try to be back for a midnight show, I hope you can sell a few tickets I Knead the Dough, and folks like Mark says please be sure to tip your waitress.
barter for it forrest, show some personal initiative, kiss up to someone, it can't be to hard for a liberal to do that, can it?
Emperor Palpatine grooms his next puppet.
When Sarah Palin lost the job. And boy is Rush Limbaugh pissed. I just realized McConnell, Boehner and Cantor are just as bad -- Lord help us!
Speaking of talking poker- here's a pair to draw to! Rupert and Rick.
Yee-Hawww.
After Obama did his phony class warfare spiel, he went and met with filthy rich millionaries and got some campaign contributions from them....
As opposed to the free campaign contributions he gets 24/7 from NBC's biased political coverage.
Bob-1887910
"After Obama did his phony class warfare spiel..."
You are correct. The 'class warfare' spiel IS a phony. Why? Because everyone knows it's NOT the wealthy class that has had warfare waged against it since, say, the reign of St Reagan.
(you didn't really think 'trickle-down' was an attack on the wealthy, did you??)
So there's an AP article out today discussing how Millionaires actually pay more in taxes than Secretaries.
It's about time that the media starts pointing out Obama for being the LYING SACK that he is.
Really??
If you want to argue the numbers go talk to the IRS... That's where they came from!
Suck it
W --- Geithner is as full of sh*t as his boss....
ACTUALLY, IT DOES NOT APPEAR SO:
Tell Grover Norquist that President Obama and I do NOT want any "new taxes" either; we just want to get back the same old taxes we had before Reagan and W. took them from the United States and gave them to their wealthy friends and supporters. GIVE THEM BACK TO AMERICA NOW!
Let President Obama get the nation out of debt! STOP being so selfish!
Fox News and Repub/Tea-Baggers! Who would have guess! Tell us something we did not know!
Perry and Murdoch scare soccer moms--period. Women will still vote for Obama in larger numbers than ever. They don't like slick (Perry) and they don't like mean (Murdoch).
I'm just going to come out and say it: I think Carrie Dann deserves the Pulitzer for this outstanding article!!!
This is truly one of the shining jewels in the First Read crown of excellence in journalism!!!
Way to go, Carrie!!!
..
"Pat my dear, it would seem you are either delusional or lacking in any concept of perspective" Spanky.
Hee Spanky, the above is an apt description of you. Because you seem to have amnesia of the Bush presidency.
I love the GOPers who claim that Obama inherited a licking barrel of a Job at 7% and is now 9+ so he has to be
crucified because he caused the mess we are in. Do you know anything about a broken pipe? it continues to
empty water until it is sealed. That is what Obama did with the US economy. So it does not matter where he
started only that he has managed to stop it. Left for the GOPers the car driven into the ditch must pull itself
out without paying for the tow truck and the repairs that must need extra to fix. Where do you think the money
to fix will come from, Tax cut?
If only we could send Grover Norquist and all his quistlings who signed his pledge of no new taxes
into exileon an extended semi-permanent junket to a remote pacific island (Midway Island comes to mind) to deal with the largest floating garbage dump ever formed, without raising taxes. That should empty out at least 50% of the federal and state legislatures. While they're at it, they could try to get the goonie birds to agree to the pledge.I feel sorry for the goonies
